A lovely, reasonably-priced spot with great service. I worked with Margie to liven up my color and ended up with a nice neutral blonde that was a little different than my usual, which I love. A few things that stood out to me: -Service: Often when getting my color done I feel like I'm fending off a million upsells for additional treatments that I don't need. I didn't get a salesy vibe here at all. -Environment: As other reviewers have noted, there's a very convivial, non-pretentious vibe. I was greeted with a generous glass of wine and enjoyed the chatty, we're-all-friends feel. I found this salon through Yelp and and am now really surprised by all the raving reviews. I had an appointment with Kelly for a haircut and highlights at 6pm and was planning on going straight from work. However, I received a call at 5:30 telling me that she was running late and asked if I could come at 6:30 instead. I got there right at 6:30 and ended up having to wait over a half hour. I was pretty annoyed and tired, and I didn't feel like Kelly was very apologetic that she was now over an hour late.I made this appointment over a month in advance because I had a special event over the weekend and adjusted my work schedule in order to make a 6pm appointment. I have very, very thick hair that normally takes a long time to blow dry and I am never able to do it myself so I really look forward to getting it done. However, by the time my haircut and highlights were done it was now after 10pm and I was exhausted/not feeling great. I ended up leaving before Kelly finished blow drying my hair. The haircuts and highlights ended up costing me $237.34 + tip and while my hair ended up pretty nicely colored and cut, it was nothing special. I definitely will not be going back. I recommend Margaret and Marysia Salon instead. I got a better highlight and cut for only $100 and my appointment started right on time. Not the place for me. I went here on a recommendation from a friend. Too bad she failed to mention, or I failed to ask, that the recommendation was only for Sue of Lindsay. But I doubt I'd be raving for anyone, even if I got a good cut, after my experience yesterday. I got there at exactly 1 o'clock, my appointment time, which also seemed to be the time they opened. I had to wait. Not long, just a couple of minutes, but, I'm your first customer! It's not like you've had time to get backed up. If I can be there on time, you should be able to take me on time, I mean, it is your fucking job! Worst of all, Kelly cut my hair INCREDIBLY short. The first thing i said to her was, "Just clean it up." I told her I last got it cut three or four months ago and to shape it up and tighten up the back. The only thing I said differently from when I usually get my hair cut is that I wanted to try it a little shorter in the front. The women cut off almost ALL my hair! She didn't tell me she was going to cut that much off! And she started in the back, so I had no idea before it was too late. Maybe I didn't explain what I wanted properly, but I have never had a stylist cut that much of my hair off without telling me. I'm talking 4 INCHES off my chin length hair! Oh, and while she was washing my hair, she initiated a conversation with her coworker about whether or not she should sell a really expensive shirt she got to a friend who complimented her on it. What? Ugh. Talk about that when I'm not there. Despite the terrible haircut, I had to endure the sound of shelving being put up. Yes, it was only some L brackets and boards, but still! There was a drill involved, and this was happening just a couple of feet away. Why on earth would you do this during business hours? It seemed as though this orchestra was led by Lindsey(?) and her husband was doing the drilling, and her (albeit cute) son was doing the whining. Completely unprofessional! And get a fucking level! I don't need to hear you lamenting over whether the shelves are straight or not. They aren't. Cause you didn't use a fucking level. I love kids, I'm a teacher, but I don't need to hear them whining and you trying to discipline them while I am getting my hair cut. For $72 I expect a haircut I like or, at the very least, a relaxing experience. I feel ripped off. read more

So, I realize I'm echoing popular sentiment here, which is how I found Lovemore & Do in the first place, but I'm going to go ahead and add another great review for this place. It's fantastic. I moved to NYC a few months ago and was searching for a great salon without the Uptown stuffy feel or the SoHo prices. Although Lovemore & Do certainly isn't cheap, it's absolutely a great deal for the quality of color and cut I got with Kelly. This lady knows how to do blonde the right way. I had basically had my hair destroyed months ago with a strange blunt cut and overly processed blonde color...I'd been so busy moving and dealing with my job that I'd basically just relied on hats and ponytails for months. Not anymore. Kelly assessed what I needed and I wanted to do and gave me beautiful ashy blonde highlights and lowlights, and a slight trim. I'm growing out my hair so I didn't need anything drastic; just enough to keep my hair in good shape while it grows out. For the first time in months I can style it again and feel like it looks lovely. The salon has a great kitchy feel to it--something like Steel Magnolias meets the East Village. My roommate tagged along with me and we all sat and chatted while Kelly did my hair. Everyone was so fun and friendly. I didn't mind being there for hours (like I usually do--highlights take a while and it's great to actually enjoy the experience for once.) Definitely am going back for highlights. So it's been over a year now since I've been coming to Lovemore & Do which I think is a pretty lengthy amount of time to review a salon and a stylist. I normally don't like leaving reviews for salons that I stick with because that just means more people will book appointments with your stylist which could potentially mean less time for me! But this one is such a gem in the neighborhood. I like many others here, found the salon through Yelp and made an appointment. I had just moved here from out of state and was really depressed to part with my stylist in Texas who had cut/styled/dyed my hair for 3+ years. I booked an appointment with Kelli and I knew immediately that she would be cutting my hair for a very long time. My hair was in this weird "in between" stage where it wasn't quite long enough or short and one side was growing out way longer than the other (I went from having a short hair cut with one side shaved and was in the process of growing it out). Kelli made my hair look and feel great, no more of that "in between" stage look but it looked "meant to be". I also really liked that she didn't pressure me to purchase products or try to book hair color appointments earlier than needed. She was very honest and frank about what I needed and what I didn't. Also, if you let Kelli know in advance, she will always squeeze in that free bang trim in between cuts. The atmosphere at the salon is so nice - love the vintage, laid-back decor. There are two stylists who are also really pleasant (Lindsey and Sue). If you're expecting to be coddled, babied and treated like the princess you aren't (like some typical upper west side hair salon) this is NOT the place for you. But if you want to get an amazing haircut or color (I get both done) at a decent price with a quality stylist this is your jam! Kelli has always taken her time and has me feeling great walking out the door. This place is hard to get ahold of and you usually have to leave a message and wait to be called back. Then they are often booked months ahead of time. I make rash decisions... Always have, I like to blame it on being Aries... With that said, early fall, I decided to have a perm (not at Lovemore & Do). Yes, it was 2010 and I wanted to relive my worst disaster in hair styles and go frizzy.. In all honesty, I liked a friend's hair and thought I could mirror her locks, but failed to realize that our difference in hair textures skewed the results. I needed to cut my crazy locks and tame my frizzy mane. This is where Lovemore & Do came along. I envisioned getting the latest hair style of Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy -- fun, short, wavy, spunky. Thank God Kelli was honest and professional. She admitted that she loved the style but needed to plan realistically with what was before her. She gave me a great cut, realistic expectations and even gave me her cell to follow up with her to see how I liked it after I left the salon. I don't give out 5-star ratings often, but Lovemore + Do truly deserves this one. I've had my hair cut with Sue several times, and I can honestly say she gives me the best haircuts I've ever gotten. She totally understands what I'm looking for and is able to give me that perfect mix of edgy/cool/sophisticated with flawless precision - hard to do with unruly wavy hair like mine! The first time I came to see her, she gave me the haircut I'd asked for, and I thought we were done - but OH NO WE WERE NOT. She whipped out a straight razor and proceeded to effortlessly whisk away - injecting volume and life into my hair with every swipe. For the first 15 years of my life, every haircut i ever had took place in a neighbor's basement and consisted of a blunt, shoulder length cut with heavy, unflattering bangs. Because of the hair trauma i endured as a child, I never thought I was capable of rocking "cute" hair -- until i met Linsday at Lovemore. She's been cutting my hair for 9 years now, and I've never once left unhappy. Her haircuts aren't just good, they're the kind of cuts that result in people stopping you on the street to compliment you. Linsday never, ever rushes you away. She takes the time to cut, stand back, cut some more, and make sure that the look is exactly what you want. Lovemore is cute, friendly and fun in that hanging-out-with-your-girls kind of way. The vibe is relaxed and unhurried, the music is at a volume that still allows you to chat with your stylist, and the East Village setting means that afterwards, you and your new 'do can saunter around the trendy 'hood feeling cool is shit. Pluuuuuuuuus, Lovemore is super affordable compared to other NYC salons. A word of advice: They don't have a receptionist (at least as far as I can tell!) so be prepared to leave a message and wait for them get back to you. Sometimes this takes a few days. Can't recommend her highly enough. The salon is small and cozy, totally Steel Magnolia's if you want it to be, but if you don't feel like talking you can zone out with a magazine and no one cares. Kelly's ability to interpret my weak skills in communicating what I'm looking for are impressive- she always gets it right and certainly has an eye for what color/length etc compliments best, along with the skills and techniques to achieve an end result that wins me compliments every time. seriously. I should preface this entire review with the knowledge that I have major hair anxiety. I first went to Lovemore and Do a little over a year ago, and before the appointment I would have nightmares about my hair being dragged through hair hell, irrevocable damage, rendering me unrecognizable even to myself. Its safe to say I hold some of my identity in my hair and have had horrible salon experiences. So it's a good thing I found Lovemore and Do because the nightmares are over, and I look forward to my appointments (book well in advance, folks). The salon is comfortable, clean and has a quirky vintage vibe. There are three chairs for each of the hairstylists to work at and I have never felt like it was too loud, crowded or rushed. I would trust any of the lovely staff with my locks, but the last few times I have booked an appointment with Kelli. The one time I didn't speak with her directly, I left a message and she called me back within the same day. I have been working in stages to make my hair shorter, so every time I go in, a little length comes off. She never pushes me to do something I am uncomfortable with, always explains and talks me through what she is doing before she snips. Something else I also appreciate is her advice on styling after I walk out of the salon. I have never been disappointed with her haircuts and I always walk out feeling satisfied and lighter. The style of the cut also holds up - weeks later it still looks amazing and considering I'm a low maintenance gal, with very little upkeep. It took me six years living in NYC to find a salon I love. Until last week, I hadn't done anything with my hair since the week after 4th of July. My once golden, summer-ready blonde now was two-toned with my natural, way darker, dirty blonde. Even worse than the color was the fact my hair resembled the same hair cut I had graduating high school; which was almost 10 years ago. eek. Kelli changed all that and made me love my hair again. I've been going to Lovemore & Do for color and cuts since I moved to the East Village about 2 years ago and couldn't be happier that I made the switch from my old salon. This place is like a well-kept secret that I don't want to spill, but I'll do that for the Yelp community, because y'all deserve to get the best cut and color in the neighborhood for the right price and these awesome ladies always deliver. I consistently see Kelli, but I can speak to that fact that every time I've been in, I've seen Lindsey and Sue working and talking with customers that seem to be regulars - which I think says a lot about the loyalty of their clientele to the salon. Appointments are pretty easy to make (they're open both weekend days) - and if you have to leave a message, one of the girls or their receptionist will return the call to make an appointment. The salon itself is small and very clean, with a retro, homey neighborhood feel. I really like that vibe - it feels like you're being paid attention to and is totally non-chaotic. I can't stand three phones ringing, six blow dryers going and being offered one of five different alcoholic beverages. I'm here to relax, chat a bit or read and get my hair cut. When I want to drink I can bring my 21-plus self to a bar and buy my own beer. I believe they just switched to a different product line - evo? - which left me with a nice blow-out that lasted for days post my last appointment. I like that quality products are available, but never pushed - which is a pet peeve of mine when receiving any beauty service. The first time I went to L&D, it was to fix an attempt at ombre hair color that was done at another salon in the area. I had basically been left with chunky blonde highlights, which were not at all what I had wanted. I researched lots of different spots in the area to call to inquire about corrective color and ultimately decided to try L&D. Kelli was confident that she could fix the botched job and more than exceeded my expectations at what could come of what I had given her to work with. She gave me exactly the ombre that I was looking for and a great haircut to go along with it. She'll offer an opinion when asked for it or suggestion when called for, but has never gone against what I've specified I'd like my end result to be. If anything, she can understand what I'm looking for even if I haven't been the clearest when attempting to explain. I receive compliments all the time on my color and the quality of my haircut - from friends and also other stylists - as recently as last week when I had my hair blown out for a friend's wedding, which I always attest to Kelli's skill. Bottom line - from the staff, to the space, to the quality of the work and fair prices, this salon is downright awesome. Charming and warm atmosphere, I've never felt more at home in any salon than at Lovemore & Do. I am one of those ladies who hardly trusts a soul with her hair. I've never had a truly bad experience, and I intend to keep it that way. With this mentality and pretty high standards for hair salons, I was eager to give Lovemore a shot when I saw all the great reviews on yelp. Lovemore did not disapoint! The women who work there are welcoming, grounded, and very talented. Kelly did a wonderful job with my long locks. She was patient and receptive during the consultation. She checked in with me while cutting my hair to give me exactly what I wanted. And although I didn't get color, the girl next to me got a warm strawberry red coloring and it looked amazing. I'll definitely be making an appointment here for my next color treatment. With reasonable prices and an excellent overall experience, I'm looking forward to having a long term relationship with Lovemore & Do. First off.. this is my very first haircut in NYC, so I brought my friend with me just for good measures. As soon as I walked in I saw the prices on the wall. 72.00 for a haircut. Not being around here it was a bit of a sticker shock, and the normal price for a haircut in the city( Even on the low end ). So with HUGE push I took a deep breath and said. YES I will pay that much, after all it is my birthday. I sat down in the chair at 6:00pm and she was not even done till 7:15p. By far the BEST HAIRCUT I HAVE EVER HAD !! No joke. I have gone to maybe 4 stylist my whole life and she will be my stylist in NYC. I hate switching stylist and I hate going to women. I usually get my hair cut by gay males. The only reason I found this place was because it was recommend. I am SO GLAD IT WAS. I will happily pay 72.00 for a haircut again, without question. They ladies were so much fun and real. It was not some uptight salon with prissy people. It was laid back atmosphere with hip music and young stylist that really LISTEN to what you want and make that happen. They give helpful tips, and ideas on how to keep your hair looking the VERY BEST. She said I can come in for the upkeep at it will not be 72.00 for a trim, the prices are lower and I can do that. I think it will be very easy to keep my hair looking great. They are even open till 10ish, they really love their customers and want to keep them happy, and it shows. If you want to keep up your hair, I suggest you make an apportionment for next time while you are currently at the store. It is easier to remember and they are kind of hard to get into so its better to do it while you are thinking about it. read more

I have to add my 5 stars as well. This salon is amazing! I have been going to Sue for months now and she always gets it right. Not an easy task when I usually go to a salon with only a vague notion of what I want. Sue is always able to interpret what color and cut I want. My latest style is STILL getting compliments and I'm due for a touch up this week. Even my father had something nice to say me on a recent visit - unheard of. The salon has recently been renovated, and Lindsay and Sue create a really comfortable environment. Feel free to chat or totally zone out. Yesterday, I had an experience that every recently-transplanted woman fears, anticipates, even dreads: I got my first New York haircut. Let me tell you, I wish I had done it much sooner, and I'm not quite sure what I was scared of, other than leaving behind my much beloved hairdresser from my previous city (if anyone finds themselves in Philly and looking for a quality haircut, go to Anthony at American Mortals!). From the moment I walked in the door, I felt totally at ease. The salon is cozy and adorably decorated, with great tunes playing. It's one of those places where people in the neighborhood stop in to say hi. Lindsey had two customers while Sue was cutting and coloring my hair, and I could tell that they were long-time clients by their conversations. It was just a cool vibe, and I felt at home right away. So, enough about the ambiance. Sue was amazing from the start, asking me questions about what kind of color I'm thinking, what my goals were (to cover the grey hair and not look so "professorial," as a friend recently described me, prompting me to flee to Sue to fix this), and suggested some ways of perking up my hair cut while letting it grow out - yay layers! I walked out feeling like a new woman and have gotten numerous compliments. Above all, I am happy with the fact that I need search no further for a NYC salon than Lovemore & Do. Sue cut my hair for the first time a few weeks ago, after my previous (amazing) stylist moved out of New York for good and I'd held off for as long as I possibly could in my search for a new salon. I liked my cut fine at first but now, after styling on my own for a few weeks, I am in love. My hair has never looked so shiny and full of body and I've been receiving more compliments than ever. The recent spate of gross, humid rainy days has really sealed the deal. Whereas normally my hair would be frizzing and curling in all of the wrong ways, this cut has somehow transformed the texture of my hair to wave gently, maintaining the aforementioned body and shine even after my 20-block trek to the office. I was skeptical of the 5-star review, but this salon earns it. In addition to the amazing cut, all of the girls were very pleasant and unpretentious. I'm going to keep it short and sweet. Wonderful, laid back, amazing people... they have insane amounts of talent. I had a really bad experience on a silver dye job at another salon and Ashley was able to bring me back to me and make it a really beautiful shade of blonde that doesn't wash me out. I know they need more photos of color here, but I challenge you to find another double process with this much skill and awesome atmosphere for $150 anywhere near the East Village. Ashley even spent 15 minutes on the phone with me before my appointment to understand what I had done to it previously so she could be sure she could get it perfect for me on the day of my appointment. Sue does it again! Due to the disgusting humidity, I went in with my hair looking all frizzy and poofed out. My last haircut with her was a few month ago, but my hair grows so damn fast and I was fed up and needed it cut. I secretly hoped she'd suggest a short haircut..and she did! I took my hair to the next level, and got it cut super short. Before she took the scissors to my hair, though, she showed me what it'd look like, and I knew I had to go for it. An hour and a half later, my hair was short, in its natural state (curly) and since then, all I've gotten are compliments on the look. So happy I took the plunge - it's made my life so much easier and it's only been a few days! Both hairdressers at this salon are amazing, and I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I cannot remember who cut my hair--but who ever it was was great. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my hair, except for that I wanted it cut because of all the split ends, so I tried the whole "mehh.. you can do whatever you want". That didn't really fly at Lovemore, and I suppose that's a good thing. I opted for a layered cut with a side fringe (if anyone is just dying to know). I also tried the I-really-want-4-inches-off-but-i'll-say-2-inches-just-in-case-they-screw-up. That also didn't fly at Lovemore, which is why I really like it. Aside from Edit in Chicago, Lovemore's the only other place I've gone to that asks you what you really want and sticks with it. Appointments can be a bit of a pain on the butt. What I ended up doing (which was fine at the time because I happened to be in the neighborhood) was walking in one day and asking if they have time for a walk in. When it turned out that they didn't, I asked for an appointment for the following day. It isn't the best way to go about it, but it worked once, and hopefully the next time won't be a hassle. I just hope leaving voicemails worked, or sending emails since I won't always be able to just drop in. read more

The reviews are true. The most unbelievable salon ever... I was willing to go anywhere in NYC to get a good cut and blow dry. Naturally, I turned to Yelp to help me out. The salon doesn't even feel like a salon, more like a place to hang out and talk. It's incredibly unpretentious, and all the stylists are VERY friendly. Usually I get mumbles of disapproval when I walk into an ordinary salon (I have very long, thick hair), but Sue immediately looked at my hair, assessed what kind of a cut would look good on me without cutting off too much, and made it work! I do NOT like getting my hair cut, but I know I needed it, and I don't plan on going to anyone else now. My hair feels healthy, much lighter, and exceptionally stylish. Looking forward to my next appointment. Word of advice... book in advance, at least a week. I was able to walk in without an appointment because Sue had a no-show. I am sticking with Sue at Lovemore & do for a few reasons: So far, Sue is the only hairstylist who's actually listened to what I want, and, not only followed through with a beautiful cut (and blow out) but really took her time perfecting it. I'd gladly pay more, the price can't be beat! I tried a place a few blocks away and it was easily 10 bucks more for the cut. I have long, thick, wavy/curly hair that abides by no rules. I like it layered and chunky and full volume, and the way Sue cuts it just looks so great! She's also tons of fun to chat with and the place is cute to boot! read more

I have a strange combination: fine hair, but lots and lots of it -- and I have been getting cuts and highlights from Sue for two years. She is a sensitive and skilled colorist, and her haircuts grow out beautifully. I can let my color go all season and still garner compliments from everyone. I highly recommend her! read more

I had been hearing about Sue for the past two years from my roommate who always goes to Lovemore. I finally broke down and went and I couldn't be happier!! The salon is very quaint- small, decorative, antique. Sue is an incredibly interesting person to talk to (ask her about her trapeze classes!) and very talented. Whether you want to run the session or have the stylist in control- Sue is the person to go to. I didn't really know what I wanted done with my hair, I already had ombre highlights, didn't know if I should get them again, or how short I should get my hair- just wanted to thin my hair out a bit with some layers. Despite my vague idea for a haircut, Sue gave me exactly what my hair needed! My roommate, who always knows exactly what she wants when she goes in also loves Sue, as well as another friend who brought in a picture and got a beautiful replica. I will 100% go back to Lovemore/Sue and recommend her to anyone willing to pay the $75 (honestly not that much in this city, especially for the quality of work). I LOVE Lovemore and Do and am tragically sad that I no longer live in NY to have Lindsey do my hair. The salon's vibe is great, very chill, and all the girls are really talented, easy to work with, and are no hassle when discussing what you want or trying to figure out if it's realistic. Also, I never felt pressured to do anything I didn't want to obligated to buy any of their products. I've been a client since 2008 and have tried it all from platinum to low lights, pixie to growing out the pixie, and never had any regrets with their cuts or colors. Even had Sue do the best wedding hair I could have hoped for. Always fully satisfied. Prices are also competitive and the time spent there fun. Miss you girls! read more

I've been going to Kelli for a while now, but have also seen Lindsay's work and they are both wonderful. Men, women, short, long, cuts, color, highlights- they can do anything. Very well. They hear you out and give you their honest opinion. I trust Kelli to kindly suggest something else should I walk into the salon wanting to try a new trend that would look terrible on me. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet- but I certainly trust her opinions. Personally I came here looking for someone that could help me maintain long, healthy, platinum blond hair. Not exactly an easy task as my hair does not take well to bleach alternatives. Kelli has done a wonderful job and I always walked out of the salon feeling wonderful. The salon itself is super vintage and adorable. It has so much more character than the typical modern NYC salons. Which I love. Last but not least, the prices are great for Manhattan. I can actually afford to come here once a month and get my roots touched up. read more

Lindsey always does a great job with the cut and coloring of my hair, and I am very particular about hair salons/stylists. The salon has a nice vibe and the other girls who work there are friendly as well. I wish it was slightly less expensive, but they always do a good job so it is worth the extra money for me. read more

Love love LOVE Lovemore & Do. I found this place last year while desperately looking for a cheapish salon that could cater to my super curly hair. I have had very little luck in the past with finding salons that have stylists who can properly angle and layer my hair, and so I was doing a lot of research. Thankfully for me, I stumbled upon the Yelp reviews for Lovemore & Do and gave it a try. First of all, the atmosphere is great. It's a shabby chic-style kind of place, with three women who are incredibly nice and chatty and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Kelli gave me my first haircut and I have stuck with her ever since. She cut my hair EXACTLY as it needs to be cut so as to grow out well. Usually my hair starts getting a bit triangular after a few weeks but I didn't need a haircut for months after Kelli was done, because this haircut was legitimately perfect for me. I told my sister and my mom about LM&D and now they both go to Kelli as well and love their haircuts every time. Que bella! Also, the price is pretty reasonable for a basic haircut, ranging from $55-$65 depending on who you does your hair. The only issue is that it can be pretty difficult to get an appointment. They are not open on Mondays or Tuesdays and the stylists book up pretty quickly. But other than that, it is totally worth the wait! Love you guys! read more

Had my hair done by Kelly the other day, but wanted to wait a couple days and see how my hair was after it settled in. It's truly a test to the cut to see what it looks like without the professional blow-drying it and with your own products. Verdict? AWESOME cut. I am insanely loyal to my stylists. Like, the same chick that did my prom hair is still my go-to girl. Even my back-up stylists are really good friends that know my hair just from seeing me on a regular basis as I am super weary of anyone new touching my inconsistent locks. But alas, since my stylists are back home in Vancouver, after 5 years I had to venture out and try a NYC stylist once and for all and trusted fellow Yelpers to steer me the right way. I am by no means fussy--I'm the girl that plops down in the chair and is like, "Can you make it look nice?" My hair was maybe 3-4 inches longer than it should've been with some messy very grown out layers and a bit of lovely NYC summer frizz going on. Kelly did a great job of cleaning it up, giving it some movement and making it look SOOOO much better. I have some hair issues which Kelly addressed and she even cut a few more layers in after blow-drying when I mentioned that I like to have some bits hanging down when my hair is up. I even air-dried it the day after and it looked as fab with my natural wave as it did blow-dried straight. Will definitely be coming back to Kelly--great cut, and totally reasonable price. **LOVE** p.s. Be sure to make an appointment (by phone). They take walk-ins but they're hella busy so definitely call a week or two before you are in dire need to guarantee seeing one of their lovely stylists before your hair is out of control ;) read more

Ahhh....Lovemore & Do...I do love you more than all other salons in the city. I finally found the salon that fits the glass slipper of my hair's soul. Ok...time to get my head out of the clouds of love and explain.... I've been living in this fabulous city for a little over 4 years now. Like most women, I have a hard time letting go and venturing out to trust someone new who knows how to give my hair the kind of love it needs. You see, I had been going to my stylist out of state forever, and it was hard to let go...but...I got tired of the long distance relationship I was having with his scissors and it was time I let go and move on. I had tried one other salon in Hell's Kitchen (see my profile for the review....I refuse to name this salon of shame in the review of this fantastic salon)....and my wall of fear was put up and nailed tight. But......after having a hard time finding a Saturday that was available with my out of state stylist, I knew it was time to open up once again to the possibility of letting someone else have a go at taking care of my locks. After hours of scouring the internet for a potential match, I came upon Lovemore & Do. Not one bad review. NOT ONE!! BINGO! The phone call was made, the appointment set...and slowly...the fear started to creep in as the day of potential reckoning got closer and closer. The day came. I found the salon. I sat waiting. I watched the two stylists work while I was waiting. Hhmmm...one of them is taking her time and paying attention to every detail of the man's hair who is currently in the chair. Wow...impressive. I have never seen such care be taken to a short, typical man's style. The other stylist was busy with another client...I noticed she was wearing these odd curlers in her hair without a care in the world. Interesting. New product perhaps? I am liking this place so far. Now it's my turn. I asked for an all over dark chocolate brown color. I wanted to see how Sue worked on me before venturing into additional high/low lights if I come back. My hair had quite a few very noticeable greys that were screaming to be colored. The two stylists discussed the best course of action for my color. Fabulous. Two people who are clearly working in the best interest of the client. A couple hours, and quite a few interesting conversations later, my hair turned out exactly as I imagined. I found my new salon!!! Oh thank god...I hate trial and error on my treasured locks. If you fear a new stylist as much as I do, go here. Your fears will quickly be squashed and you too will love your 'do more than you have in a long time. read more
