I'm hesitant to give a bad review here but I also want to give warnings to save your money if you're looking for a specific style and look that you'd expect from the LES. I booked with Gina. I came with grey roots and 2 month old peek a boo highlights. I asked for a touch up of said peekaboo highlights, she didn't seem to know what I was asking for. I changed the words to money pieces. Again she was confused. So, I elaborated and showed pics and she said - "so stripy highlights?" And she showed me on her phone some ideas - what she put in search was "traditional highlights " and what popped up was 90s highlights. I'm middle aged but but at all out of style. What she thought what I wanted made me nervous. So when she said she had to put a filler in my hair to achieve some color I was hesitant. I had fillers before but with a stylist that I knew and trusted. Remember, this is my first time here. I refused and asked for semipermanent bc after she didn't know what peekaboo or money pieces were in 2021 and in the LES I didn't want to go permanent with a color. Gina done her work. And you'll see it my pics. It's just not great I was never happy and actually hid my hair in hats. Bc it was so dull and putting the "highlights " in the places she did were very odd. She told me I needed to heal my hair with professional Olaplex treatments that would cost me 60/ visit biweekly. I found k18 which is more effective in repairing hair. I wanted to give Gina one more chance. So I sent her a pic of what I wanted: a copper or orangey color bob. Which was my signature look for years. She said it can't be done. I had to break up with her and go to another salon. Which gave me exactly what I wanted and with healthy hair. I'm sorry but your stylist need to keep up with the styles From what I see on their pics to post on Yelp as "from the Business " and on their IG etc it's always the same : young (no older then 35) , white and possibly virgin hair getting the usual trim for long hair and a conservative balayage. The only thing different is a great salon achieved blow out or heat styled curl. Why bother paying Manhattan prices for that ? read more

The quality is extremely consistent, and my treatment lasts for as long as 6 months (I have long 3b curly hair). She noticed my skin color and type, and recommended a warm color. She recommended a foilayage after seeing my sample photos, and I trusted her through the process completely. in 2021, i had my virgin black hair dyed pink and cut here, and it was fantastic. two years later, i decided to go back to get the pink cut off and just get a hair cut, and came back because i thought that because the stylist followed the picture exactly the first time i came, she would do that again. i'm leaving four stars because the first time was amazing, but this time i left the salon in tears. i showed her a picture of a straight cut lob, shoulder length, with face framing. i don't know why i walked out with this strange, too short, angled bob, with weird wisps of bangs in the front. it's not what i asked for, and especially since i have wavy hair i'm terrified for what it'll look like when it's unstyled and not straight anymore. i hate angled short hair styles. the back is so short, i feel uncomfortable. when my hair goes back to normal, it will be shorter than shoulder length, which is not what i asked for. looking at the picture, and looking at what i got, im deeply upset. if you go here for a haircut, be very careful you make sure to be extremely clear what you ask for. i can't post a picture because i don't even want to take a picture of myself with this hair. im upset i paid $100+tip for this, and i probably will not be able to bring myself to come back, despite how well it went the first time. read more

Updates!!! I came back for kerasilk 8 months after my first time with Jax. I saw Gina this time and she did an amazing job! The kerasilk faded out of my hair SO naturally and I absolutely love it. One month after my kerasilk I saw Joshua for a full head of highlights! I haven't colored my hair (with box dye usually) since 2016 and wanted to change up my look. He was great consulting with me about if the color was possible and what to expect. We talked out the whole process of bleaching and toning my hair DOWN to the color I wanted. And let me tell you, I went to my barrister's ball that night and got so many compliments. The color is beautiful. It looks good when my hair is both straight or curly and I know it will grow out of my hair beautifully (I'm not a touch up person). If I need come come back in a few months and tone it down again, I know who to call. Joshua was great and I know where to get color done. But I REALLY love them. I saw this salon on Yelp and and I decided to go for it seeing the amazing ratings and reviews. I took an appointment from their website, and they immediately followed up with me to confirm. My appointment was with Shinobu for a full balayage. When I reached there, I was immediately seated. The staff were very friendly, and they greeted me with a smile. Once I met Shinobu, I showed her a picture of the hair I wanted, and with one glance, she knew what I wanted, and what would look good on me! I am usually very picky and don't trust anyone with my hair, but I decided to trust her instincts because it seemed like she knew what she was doing. Boy was I right! Shinobu took her time with my hair, and she is very friendly. At the end, I was so impressed with the result! It was even better than the picture I showed her! I have very fine, long, straight hair which I usually trim myself. A lot of stylists have no idea what to do with my hair type, because layering can easily go from zero to rat-tail. She doesn't overbook so you never feel rushed and importantly, she never pushes products on you. However, I have bought the products she herself uses - and they are MIRACLE workers and reasonable prices. A bit about myself, I am Asian and have the curse of my Asian hair turning brassy/orange/gold anytime dye hits my hair. I HATE brassy hair, and if you ask Maryn, she will laugh because I told her no less than 50,000x that I hate brassiness, but I would "understand" if my hair came out brassy-ish, because that's just what my hair has done since forever. Mark is an absolute hair magician! I spent my college years getting hair cuts at questionable salons using groupons and buying whatever cheap box dye at Walgreens struck my fancy that month (like many college decisions, not the best). Now that I'm a couple years out and can invest more in my hair, I decided to try out Salon Orchard based on the stellar Yelp reviews. I am so glad I did! I went in asking for a double process, but after Mark and I spoke for awhile we realized what I actually wanted was balayage and I just hadn't known what it was called. Mark strikes the perfect balance between listening to what I want (and looking at my million photos of Chrissy Teigen because #hairgoals) and offering his opinion backed by years of experience. We decided to gradually lighten my hair over time to minimize damage and to use Olaplex during the process. My hair is actually healthier now than when I started bleaching it! The balayage itself is fantastic- he hand paints it on so there is a mix of high lights and low lights. My hair is naturally almost black, and Mark has lightened it significantly, while making it look healthy and natural. One of my newer friends actually didn't realize this wasn't my natural hair color and was shocked to see old photos with my dark hair! His haircuts are also fantastic. My hair has texture and body, but also "listens" to me. I can literally roll out of bed and go straight to work. It's amazing. And on top of all of this, Mark is a joy to be around.
