The talent of the barbers is hit and miss. Half of them are fair at best. Rafael is a really good barber, also the only one who can be booked online (and apparently the only person there who arrived in the digital age). But he gave me the worst cut I had in years last time and didn't even apologize (that was the dealbreaker for me)......after I tipped him 25-30% for years. Screwing things up happens, but then own it and apologize dude. A beard trim is $30 and a haircut is $40 which is fair for a good barber, but the overall shop experience is really unprofessional. The staff is loud and unfriendly, not greeting after I went there for 10 years. An overwhelmed speaker system blasts bad 90s rap and other random dated music. Combined with the yelling of the staff it's like acoustic water boarding. So I'll take the $900 I spend on a barber a year somewhere else. If you are looking for time travel to the past, bad customer service and lousy music, then this place is right for you. If not ...there are a ton of cooler, better options within a mile radius. Man, I'm not gonna say one bad thing about my barbers. First of all, my haircut is easy. I'm bald. Secondly, the are always playing either a cool movie, or some killer b-boy hip hop. Well, I can't rightfully give it 5 stars when this is the only barber in town I've tried... yes, I'm a woman. How astute of you to notice... My hairdresser threw a fit and told me to find a new place. Now you can imagine what a pricey woman's haircut can cost and i thought "what the hell, how bad can it be" since I get most of it chopped off anyway. I had a few drinks first (liquid courage) then went in and caught the last guy standing. He didn't mock me and did his best to match up with the pic I showed him. I have 3 calics and their a pain in the ass. He managed to do a damn good job and the prices are dirt cheap compared to a "stylist"... now I'm not saying this is for every(woman)... cause I go super short... I'll have to give him some props for offering me some "after shave" when he was done... lol, he made me laugh... no dude, I like my hair short and my men manly... and they don't like me with aftershave ;) read more

I have been here twice. The first time I got a mediocre haircut but I didn't give the barber much instruction so I thought to give it a 2nd try. The 2nd time I was with a different barber and he left me bleeding in multiple places. He used a straight razor to clean up some of my beard without using any shaving cream to lubricate. I didn't notice the spots of blood till I left but my face was hurting for a day from all the razor burn. Not to mention the health risks if he doesn't properly sanitize his equipment. Also the place is kind of a dump with barber chairs with cut up cushions and the palce has a just a general griminess to it without it being super dirty. Also I don't think they have AC. And at 20 dollars per a haircut its not cheap either. TLDR. AVOID read more

I've been to this shop twice and both times have been walk in with no appointment...Just like the good old days when you used to go to the shop for two reasons, a haircut, and to catch up on the local news. The guys are all very friendly! I sat down in the chair and explained what I wanted, got feedback on what he might do differently and agreed and off we went. I honestly don't know how this place gets 5 stars. I'm sure they have good service if I had gotten some. Well first when I waked in their was this lady sweeping and I know it's a barber shop and it needs to be clean so that's why when the lady asked me to move so she could sweep I was cool with it, but she asked me to move like 4 times like she told everyone to move like if we were bothering her or sum. Than I constantly kept getting skipped. Even when their was a barber available they were chatting it up and I waited a hour for a place that was slow at the time I finally got frustrated and decided to leave. I get my haircut in oakcliff all the time I like to try new places but this place is not the one to go to if your the new guy or trying to get quality service and their haircuts are half ass anyway I seen them myself. read more

I'm shocked I am the first reviewer of Oak Cliff Barbers on the intersection of W Davis and Edgefield. I've been coming here for almost 3 years; ever since we moved to Oak Cliff and I have to say these guys are some of the best barbers in the city. The entire crew are like brothers and very close knit. You are guaranteed a great cut and a comedy show on any given day by the staff or the regular customers. My usual guys are Matt and Jose but Jojo and the rest of the crew will give you a solid cut as well. Prices are comparable to a "vanilla" franchise style Supercuts but you won't find this kind of service at those places, particularly in the way the guys at Oak Cliff Barbers do the taper on the neckline. I won't trust another barber in town after coming here. These guys are seriously great! read more

My only suggestion after being cut here for years now is avoid Matt...dude is weird & cuts hair awkwardly & unprofessionally & is unhygienic while cutting. I've been here twice and the first time was a little over a year ago, the haircut was alright but it was a one time thing since my usual barber wasn't available. Went yesterday and i waited around 15 min in the barber chair waiting for the guy. Then he came I told him what I wanted and he said ok and he started asking about my personal life which was a little odd but didn't mind at first. Then he asked about my truck and asked if it was my fathers and said it was passed down to me and he said "well you're a spoiled motherfucker" without asking he shaved my mustache and did my eyebrows and he cut like half of my hair in length when I clearly said just the very tip. When he took the thing to stop hairs from getting on me he slammed my pretty hard in the chest like I knew the dude. I asked what the price was and he pretended to not hear until I pulled out my money and I'm assuming he saw my 20 and said 20 because I know they charge 15. I might go tomorrow to another barber to get it fixed since my usual one moved away. Wouldn't recommend it for new customers or maybe just don't go with the older guy with a beard read more
