I've always been a fan--I used to go to their Eagle River location all the time when I lived out there. My all-time favorite is their green avocado salsa. It is unreal. Honestly, I'd drive from South Anchorage just for that alone and feel zero shame about it. Their margarita flight is fantastic, and the guava margarita is my personal favorite--super good and really well balanced. Food-wise, everything I've had has been on point: * Fajita quesadilla * Fajita tacos * Classic fajitas No misses. Their chips are always fresh, and both the hot and mild salsas are really good (which matters more than people admit). This place lives rent-free in my head anytime I'm heading to the Valley, and my husband and I almost always stop in for lunch when we're out that way. Big fan. Consistently good food, solid drinks, and always worth the stop. Service is always great, and the setup inside is so cute. I love the vibe, the decor, and especially the deck--it's just really well done. You can tell a lot of thought went into the space. Seriously, good job all around.

The salsa verde was complimentary today, sour cream or crèma base and a little bite I think the All Star diah was the Creamy Poblano Soup. My goodness this is good. Not spicy, great texture, not too over beating from the Poblano. This is a must try. Also thoroughly enjoyed the Brisket Enchilada. This is actually Ribeye with a dry rub and it's delicious. It's Smokey and not nearly as dry as a typical brisket. Our Server was great. Friendly. Personable and well versed in the restaurant, menu, preparation Which makes sense as she has worked there for 18 years. Dos Equis for me, hot tea for my

I strongly recommend thier deluxe burritos. -I always get the shredded beef but understand other meats are just as good. You really have to think about your meal, every detail is fresh and put together well. The rice falls apart but isn't stiff, the salsa bar has wonderful variety and they never look at me odd when I keep piling more on. The service is and has always been very friendly, super fast, and they keep the restaurant so clean that I always avoid leaving spills or crumbs just as a small thank you. To the owner: Your staff makes this place the most reliably wonderful experience I have known in the valley. Thank you!

This is like Hank Williams, George Straight, Garth Brooks style country. Maybe I'm weird and they are spot on. Who knows? The food was out quite fast, which was great. I've never had a place put a chip in the beans so the overlapping taco shells don't get soggy. That was a huge win! It's the small things. The salsa bar was great. I really enjoyed the kick of the hot and green ones. The mild tasted a little weird. The tacos were tasty, the rice and beans slightly above average and solidly portioned. The staff at the register attentive and friendly. The dining room could handle a variety of four person groups and could easily be situated to accommodate larger parties of probably 8-12.

It has two floors and an outside patio with a lot of tables, booths, chairs, and benches. It has a full service bar with a decent selections for your vocations and they make Mocktails too. The 1st floor is the main dining area and to the outdoor patio. If it is sunny and warm, I highly encourage you to sit outside to soak up the Alaskan "rays". There are three different areas with fireplaces for additional warmth in the cooler days. The Mexican decorations are tastefully done and some of the art have been made by some of the employees. There is a wooden metal horse made with driftwood and light tin. As you walk upstairs, a beautiful mural is hand painted by a local artist. Also, there is an elevator for people who can't use the stairs; a wonderful addition. Staff: 4 Stars The staff were friendly, professional, respectful and helpful. We were greeted and seated to our tables. Our server assisted our large group of 8. We arrived after 1:30 and were seated in area where it was a tight because one family member is disabled and has an electric wheelchair. The staff were very accommodating and were able to created our table seating environment. Food: 4 Stars As mentioned earlier, this restaurant curates authentic regional Mexican food. You can actually taste the spices, proteins, fresh veggies and the freshly made salsa. There are too many Mexican restaurants that accommodates our "American" preference when it comes to seasoning or "bland" flavors and the food doesn't taste great. Or it covered in queso. The chefs / cooks here, are doing a wonderful job in bringing the real Mexican flavor back. Mucho gracias! Now for the food: 1. Chicken Chipotle Bowl: 4 Stars - $27.00 - a blend of chipotle and spices with grilled chicken, bacon, onions and bell peppers, over our home style rice, beans and three flour tortillas. 2. Lunch Portion - Carne Asada Tacos (2) $18.50 - large corn tortilla filled with carne asada (beef), red onions, pickled onions, and cilantro. Comes rice and beans. The beef was juicy, seasoned well, and flavorful. The corn tortilla is slight cook with oil to make them slightly malleable to hold the amount of beef and items. The frijoles (beans) weren't truly puree so you can taste some of the chunky beans. The rice was good and not overcooked. 3. Lunch Portion - Chicken Flautas. (2) $16.00 with rice and beans. The frijoles (beans) weren't truly purée and you can taste the beans. The two large Flautas were filled with chicken and deep fried tortilla were crispy. The chicken flavorful and tender. You taste the seasoned chicken. 4. Amazing Tacos - 4.5 Stars $24.00 Grilled steak and chorizo on five mini corn tortillas with grilled onions, raw onions, cilantro and fresh lime. Does not come with rice and beans. Additional $6 charge for it. So a $30 dish. Pretty expensive. 5. Steak and Chicken Fajita Combo $28.99. 4 Stars. It is a sizzling skillet with onions, and bell and or sweet peppers. Three flour tortillas, guacamole, pico de gallo, lime wedges and sour cream is provided. 6. Carne Asada Burrito - 4.25 Stars $19.99 A flour tortilla filed with grilled steak, rice, and cheese. Covered in green sauce and guacamole. Beans and rice is a $6 extra. This burrito is pretty large. It was plated on the largest plate especially when you add the beans and rice. The burrito with then salsa verde was flavored and seasoned really well. Be ready to unbuckle a notch or two on the pants. You may need to be rolled out. Desserts: We shared the following. 1. Flan - 3.75 Stars - A really good Mexican flan. You can taste the Mexican vanilla bean and custard were cooked well and evenly. Sweeter than the Churros. Served w whipped cream and fruit. 2. Churros - 4 Stars - The freshly made churros were fried and covered in cinnamon, sugar, and served w dollop of fruit and whipped cream. 3. Fried Ice Cream - 3.75 Stars The sweetest of the desserts we tasted. A large helping of vanilla ice cream rolled in crushed cornflakes, then deep fried. It was covered with a raspberry jelly syrup and served in a flour tortilla shell drizzled with honey. All were good and the range in sweetness. Price: 3.25 Stars - it is at a higher end at this restaurant. Be prepare to spend some $$. Also, don't ask for extra chips and salsa, unless you are ready pay an extra $6 after the 1st complimentary bowl of chips and salsa. I highly recommend this place and if you can't make it to Eagle River, which you need to, there is another location on Old Seward in Anchorage. Enjoy!

It's nice and modern looking, and doesn't have the usual annoyingly loud Mexican music that is present in some places. There's lots of TV's showing sports, and quite decent music playing on the speakers. They have a very nice feature fireplace too. I ordered 2 crispy tacos with ground beef and french fries, (my benchmark, with which i will judge the quality of your food) and husband got the posole. I'm not even kidding, i thought Taco King was fast service, but this beat even them. This is fast food, in a non fast food setting. It was lovely and warm, as i had a heater right next to my seat. Anyway, the food. It wasn't bad. Definitely not the best I've had, and also not the worst. The round beef was ok, but maybe a tad heavy on the cumin. I do love cumin, but i prefer it to be balanced where it's indistinguishable from other spices, and in this taco beef, it was cumin forward. That being said, I'd eat it again over fast food any day. It's the service that made me give an extra star. Our server was friendly, fast, and helpful. And the place was nice, just what we needed after a long, aching back drive to -42 degree Cantwell and back, with a hair-raising skid along the way. I forgot to even take pictures, sorry. It was just that kind of a day.

Look at my picture, it was a bunch of cheese with a little cilantro/onion which again, tasted really good but should've been stuffed with meat in them for that price. Or charge me for cheese tacos instead lol. I get it's Alaska and stuff, including food is more expensive, which I'm fine paying for but at least make it worth it. I was going to order something else but with a burrito also being $20 too, I decided against it and glad I did, cause I probably would've been disappointed in that portion size too. Complete rip off and legit headed to Taco Bell after cause I was still so damn hungry...Oh what could've been! Also waited like 20-30 minutes in line before ordering and then to get this was super annoying too lol.

On the corner of Trunk and Bogard sits Fronteras Taqueria and they are rocking the flavors. I had the Taco Trio of Carne Asada, Chicken and Carnitas. The Carne Asada was probably the most flavorful Asada I've had in Alaska. The Chicken was okay, moist, I would rather it again. The Carnitas were moist but missing that same oomph that the Asada offered. I also tried the Guisado Plate: pork short ribs bone in stewed in a Verde sauce. Super good, flavor on flavor and tender! The Mexican hotdog was basically a Sonoran Dog minus the mayo (thank god) it was good, not Tucson good, but good. The street corn in a cup was my least favorite. I was hoping for grilled corn and it wasn't. The Tajin like sauce was good but the crema was a little much. I'm not a rice and beans fan so I can't and I won't rate theirs I can't wait to go back. Great flavors and good people.
