We ate here last night, after driving back from Cantwell. It''s deceptively spacious inside, and maze-like, with various dining rooms all over the place. It's nice and modern looking, and doesn't have the usual annoyingly loud Mexican music that is present in some places. There's lots of TV's showing sports, and quite decent music playing on the speakers. They have a very nice feature fireplace too. I ordered 2 crispy tacos with ground beef and french fries, (my benchmark, with which i will judge the quality of your food) and husband got the posole. I'm not even kidding, i thought Taco King was fast service, but this beat even them. This is fast food, in a non fast food setting. It was lovely and warm, as i had a heater right next to my seat. Anyway, the food. It wasn't bad. Definitely not the best I've had, and also not the worst. The round beef was ok, but maybe a tad heavy on the cumin. I do love cumin, but i prefer it to be balanced where it's indistinguishable from other spices, and in this taco beef, it was cumin forward. That being said, I'd eat it again over fast food any day. It's the service that made me give an extra star. Our server was friendly, fast, and helpful. And the place was nice, just what we needed after a long, aching back drive to -42 degree Cantwell and back, with a hair-raising skid along the way. I forgot to even take pictures, sorry. So interesting note. Never seen this before in Alaska or in The Valley. If you pay with cash, they discount 3.85% to your check. Depending on how you look at this, there is a nearly 4% charge to use you debit or credit card. I'm sure you could also view this as, "I get a discount if I use cash!" It's all perspective I supposed. Food: The chips and salsa were tasty. The hot sauce doesn't pack a punch. When I asked for hotter salsa, I was given a bottle of hot sauce. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to add it to the salsa or put it straight on a chip. The taco platter was good. There were not any particular flavors that jumped out. I don't mean that to sound bad. It was a solid meal. Maybe I was wishing for some hotter salsa to liven up the tacos? Or the beans? Or the rice? Service: On this visit I sat at the bar. There was only one other person at the bar with me. I ordered a drink I typically get at Mexican restaurants. I asked for a higher shelf libation with tonic. I received it with soda water. When I asked about it, she was confused about the difference between tonic and soda water. Ambiance: This place is huge. Plenty of space to bring EVERYONE. Great location for the extended family. Notables: This may seem weird, but this isn't the sort of place where you worry about feeling a draft from the door. This restaurant is very nice and spacious. The staff is very friendly as soon as you enter and it's nicely decorated throughout. The food is really good..the chicken quesadillas are amazing and cheesy. I ordered the enchiladas suizas and they were delicious! Gotta love the chips and salsa they give as soon as you sit down. Everything is seasoned perfectly and they have a full bar (bonus)! Overall, great food and experience..they also have a drive up window!! Convenient, I know!! The front service girls were awesome! Seated us right away, refreshments immediately, nice, friendly,professional. However the COOK got my order wrong! I ordered Chicken Enchiladas and received Beef ! I ate the sides first and was three bites in to the enchiladas before I realized they were beef. I don't like Beef enchiladas. The girls were quick to try and fix it. My lunch party was mostly finished eating at this point. They did adjust the bill. The Beef Flautas my friends ordered were awesome! Wow! we were blown away by the service and all the food we were served. We started off with margaritas in large glasses. Very flavorful, lots of salt and tequila. The chips were freshly made, and not from a bag like other places have. we tried the mild and hot salsa both very . For an appetizer we had a quesadilla. Lots and lots of yummy cheese in soft but crisp tortillas. For dinner I had shrimp tacos. The shrimp was perfectly cooked And tender. And they did not skimp on the shrimp. Loved the pico de gallo. My husband had the pork Carnitas. my husband, smokes meats and is very picky. He said this is the best Carnitas he's ever had. The staff was very friendly, and made sure we always had something to drink and was well taken care of . I highly recommend this restaurant, and will be going back again and again . read more

Not consistent. I made a point of coming here three times before reviewing. Great- not so good- good So, how hard is it to make Mexican ( American Mexican food)? It's just sautéed to dead ingredients thrown together in a chimichanga, burrito, tostada, taco. Etc..,. From great, to kinda dry, to average. Bottom line, I'll keep coming here. We met friends for an early lunch on a Thursday as this is their favorite Mexican restaurant in the valley. They have a diverse menu and it has a nice ambiance. Their chili verde is good and the portions are large deserving 4 stars. However, their meals are pricy and the service was spotty and slow towards the end earning a final rating of 3 stars. read more

This restaurant isn't bad! We have been here a few times but there is definitely better Mexican around. We went for lunch. I got the cheese enchilada with rice and beans and my husband got the huevos rancheros. He always gets this, and seems to enjoy it every time. He also likes that they have Pacifico on tap. You can't really make a cheese enchilada wrong! The plates were literally on fire when they brought them to our table. I'm guessing the food was nuked, as it came out very fast! Pre covid - the staff was amazing and food was good. We went here ALL the time. Currently - Just recently went back and service was terrible and food had to be sent back it was so terrible. We didn't even want it remade. We will not be visiting again. It's sad when Qdoba is the safest closest Mexican food you can get in town. Scratch this place. I've been there three times, keeps getting worse every time. Once we asked for additional chips, the waitress said no because the basket we had still wasn't completely finished. Another time, at the bar having an appetizer & brew. Returned from the washroom to find they'd tossed the rest of the beer & was cleaning my spot. They ran my CC & closed it out. When I told them I hadn't signed the bill they said "Don't worry about it dude". They ran it without the tip, oh well. Most of their menu is typical American style Mexican food (rice and beans, enchiladas, bean burritos, etc). HOWEVER the reason I keep going back is for the nachos!! They have these amazing chicken nachos with peppers. I wish they had some fresh recipes for daiquiris and margaritas. They have lots of flavors, but each flavor comes from a box not fresh. read more

Food was over salted. Even the salsa was over salted. Tamale tasted like the ones you buy at Costco and nook in the microwave. As most say cook should actually learn what mexican food is. Today was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in any restaurant I have ever been to. I'm not typically one to complain when it comes to food or service. When I do complain, I try to accurately set the scene and paint the picture. Today is Cinco de Mayo and one would expect the food and service to be top notch with the consideration that they would be busy. We figured as much and our party of approximately 10 attempted to make reservations a day or two ahead of time and we're told that they would absolutely not accept them on Cinco de Mayo. Okay, it's a busy day, we'll roll with it. We arrive at 6:15 on the dot. It took approximately 15 minutes to be seated, they send us upstairs with three tables in a tight-fitted corner and one wobbly table. The upstairs area we were sat in was fairly empty at first, with only a few smaller tables filled. The waitress waited for us to get situated and asked if we would like anything to drink. They had 3 or 4 food menus to share between the entire table, no drink menus to be had We order two beers, a few mango margaritas and my wife ordered a blended Coronarita. We told them it would be a bit for us to look over the menus. I ask for a pitcher of water or two for the table... I was told no. Half an hour passes. Nearly every water on the table is empty, the waitress brings by two beers and tells us that the margaritas will be just a bit longer. According to her, the restaurant ran out of margarita glasses and was washing them as fast as they could. She takes our food orders and we make it clear that the orders need to be on separate tickets. Another server arrives and hands out chips and salsa. Another hour passes. The upper floor is now full. Tables around us have been sat, served margaritas, had their orders taken and mind you, there is only one waitress on the floor. Beers and margaritas are being handed out left and right. Our table came last. 3 or 4 Mango margaritas made their way to one end of the table. Another beer is requested. About another twenty minutes passes and we see other tables receiving food, beer, margaritas, Coronaritas. The waitress disappears again and shows up with 4 ordered appetizers of queso cheese/spinach queso, all of which were ordered hot and served cold. They also left our entire table hanging with 4 bowls of queso getting colder by the minute and no chips to be had. Another ten minutes pass before we get another refill of chips and water. The waitress brings the blended Coronarita... There is no ice and the beer was warm. The ordered beer still has not arrived. Another half hour passes. Every table around us with the exception of one with now disgruntled customers has been served food. Some of the customers that were there after us are now packing their to go containers and leaving. Checks are being handed out to every table. The disgruntled customers who were seated next to us left as they also had not been served food yet. Finally, the waitress arrives with food! All the food is handed out, my wife and I both receive wilted fajita salads with no dressing. My steak fajita meat is not even cut up, it is in one long continuous string. The meat, onions and green peppers were not even remotely warm. My avocado was starting to brown. The waitress says she will be right back with the ranch and never returned. Every other dish that was served at that table was cold. One plate was so cold it was immediately returned. The ordered beer is still missing in action. By this time my wife had finished her Coronarita and wanted another. Another half hour passes and a manager that was running around earlier handing out tickets to surrounding tables earlier finally came to ours and started apologizing on behalf of everything. He immediately took any missed orders and brought a beer and Coronarita, napkins, and the two ranches that had not otherwise been delivered. It was now about 9:30 pm. We asked for to go boxes and the check. The to go boxes were all the small ones. I should probably mention that my entire $17 salad could have fit in one untouched. The check arrives, a whopping $200 with numerous errors throughout. The returned meal was not removed from the check even though it was not touched before being returned. We were charged for alcoholic beverages we did not order nor receive. It took another twenty minutes to sort the bill out, no help of the manager or the waitress, we were handed duplicate receipts and pens and told to do it ourselves. There was no offer to discount any of the food, drinks, or service that we received. To be honest, if I could rate this experience at 0 stars I would. I never intend to eat at this restaurant again and I feel sorry for any that do. I have had far better service at far worse restaurants. read more

This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant but it was CRAP today. There was a swarm of flies buzzing the tables and the food was obviously a frozen dinner heated up... barely... for us. Chips were thick and not light and airy and the mild hot sauce tasted like tomato sauce. Definitely not going to go back anytime soon. However the two stars was simply because the service was good. Best Mexican food in town! If you're a sucker for a good margarita and an extensive variety of tequilas to choose from, then this is your place. Just opened in 2006 if memory serves right... it has plasma screens at the bar and an upstairs dining area for large parties. Traditional menu with a few specials that offer an Alaskan twist. Halibut Veracruz is one of my favorites. For the margarita fans, go for the Cadillac's, well worth the extra coin. read more

Wow! Finally a Mexican restaurant that fries their food but does not taste greasy. The chicken chimi was flavorful and had ample sour cream and guacamole. The chili relienos were also quite tasty and we would have both again without hesitation. If only the chain Mexican restaurants in the lower 48 could produce such a great meal as we received in Wasilla. read more

The restaurant does not partake in COVID-19 regulations. Omg don't get me started on how disgusting the customer service was. To top it off the rice tasted like it was seafood. Had an interesting experience at a friend's birthday party tonight.... The "manager" (who always also our server) at Hacienda steadfastly refused to split our bill for a party of 11 into 6 separate checks so that we could pay. Instead, she made us all sit for 15 minutes and total up our own stuff, shuffle cash around, work out the logistics of splitting everything, etc. because they would also not accept more than a couple credit cards to be used to pay. And they expect to be able to force parties of 10+ to pay a gratuity??? Good luck with that. We refused to pay any gratuity and left, and I'll do my damnest to discourage as much business as possible from that restaurant from now on. If I could give negative stars for this place, I would. These guys need to move out and give the location to owners that actually give a crap about providing a quality dining experience. read more

It seemed like they bought it frozen. It was all breading and no cheese. I splurged on ceviche and it tasted like it was made with bottled lemon juice rather than fresh squeezed lemon and lime.
