Very happy with the Lovett Dental team at this location. I went in with a lot of pain in my gums all the staff was very helpful there, the doctor who treated me was amazing, she was very sweet and nice, I was nervous because I've never had trouble with my teeth. Anyway, I appreciated her encouraging words through out the procedure. She gave me clear instructions on the aftercare of my gums and teeth. Over all I'm very grateful because my gums are so much better. Thank you Lovett Dental team FYI: They are complying with the COVID-19 regulations and one must wear a mask or a face covering before entering. TLDR: Fraudulent fees at this place. Do NOT recommend. I recently visited this dental location for my biannual teeth cleaning appointment. When scheduling, I confirmed with the receptionist that my insurance is accepted. I arrived, got my x-rays done and was seen by the provider shortly after. Dr. Huynh confirmed that I had no cavities or decay; however, she recommended a gingival irrigation that is not considered a routine cleaning but also not a deep clean. When clarifying, Dr. Huynh compared refusing the irrigation to a heart patient refusing a procedure. Then proceeds to state concerns about liability if I were to return. She then asks for the office manager to come and further explain. The itemized bill showed that I had to pay out of pocket $80 for a gingival irrigation (that's not included in a routine cleaning), the staff's PPE, and an additional office visit charge. I asked if it was possible to continue with the regular clean without the additional irrigation since it is prophylactic. To that, the manager said no. I did not get my cleaning completed, but I still got charged for the gloves & face masks that the staff wore, as well as, the office visit. I appreciate the recommendations that were given, but I did not appreciate the dismissive approach that came from the office manager. I am unable to provide her name since she did not introduce herself nor wore a name tag. Please be cautious for hidden fees when visiting this location. I went to Lovett on Kirby for a last minute 6 month cleaning in May 2017 and I was a new patient. I'm leaving this review 7 years later because of the HORRIBLE care I received and continued problems after my visit to Lovett. I can't remember exactly who the dentist was, but it was a woman with a European accent and I believe a long and uncommon name. She seemed rushed and pushy and like many others, I got ripped off into getting an unnecessary Clorhexidine deep cleaning for over $300. I had no idea it wasnt covered. I listened to them as they read my gum measurements out loud...it was mostly 2s and a few 3s. When I asked my next dentist, she told me I absolutely did not need a deep cleaning and not to go back. That's not the worst part. This "dentist" failed to warn me before injecting numbing meds and she hit what I can only assume was a nerve. I had shooting pain along my jaw/lower right cheek. The pain was worse than any other time I'd received novocaine. After the medication wore off, I was left with some weakness and numbness along the jawline which still has not resolved. After 7 years of residual nerve damage, my smile and cheeks eventually became asymmetrical and the numbness continues. That dentist is a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a swindler, and she should lose her license. Best case scenario, her face gets disfigured by something similar to what she did to me. read more

I paid for services at this office up front of over 800 dollars. My insurance was within network and verified but a month later the office is trying to charge me an extra $105 dollars. The office manger is extremely rude, does not care about customer service, ignores calls and hangs up on customers. You think cleanings are free with insurance?? They aren't at Lovett Dental! They are now requiring that you get "gingival irrigation" done with ALL cleanings...it is not a choice. They stated it's to clean the germs in your mouth due to covid...but it was the VERY last thing they do during your cleaning. If they were concerned with germs, wouldn't they do it first? They use peridex which is a prescription MOUTHWASH. They require you to pay $49 for literally a teaspoon of mouthwash that is hardly enough to swish around in your mouth. To top it off, they don't even code it correctly with your insurance. It's a scam to get your money. I'll be finding a new dentist. read more

What a scam this place is, I would give 0 stars if I could. Everyone is very nice but they push things on you for extra costs. I am a hard working individual who works paycheck to paycheck and all I want to do is take care of my teeth. You obviously go to the dentist and trust their expertise but they abuse and prey on your ignorance. My insurance covers cleanings but they always push for deep cleaning which is not covered and very expensive. And then they will always push Arestin, an antibiotic periodontitis treatment which costs like 89 per capsule. The lady came up to me and was like yes you need like 6... WTF. Never again. Then last time I went in and the lady who was helping the dentist starts making chit chat but ends up asking how much earn...Sooo inappropriate Should have trusted the reviews about this place. Lovett Dental was the reason that I stopped going to the dentist for several years. I had paid my bill/copay after having my wisdom teeth removed (which as it turns out may have not been needed after reading other reviews) and was confused why I was getting late payment notices from their office covering the insurance amount. When I contacted my insurance company, it turned out Lovett never followed up with filing additional documents that the insurance requested. When I contacted Gary, the office manager, to fix this. He said he would take care of it but he wouldn't take my calls afterwards to confirm that he did. The insurance claim did eventually get processed, but then I got billed for late charges over the whole ordeal. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My appointment was on Wednesday, Jan 6 at 10am. I came in at 9:45am, filled out my paperwork and didn't get called in till 10:35. As the technician calls my name and I'm about to walk into the room, the receptionist stands up and says "we charge $10 for ppe mask, is that ok?". Wtf. Why didn't you tell me that when I was making the appointment on the phone, confirming my appointment the day before, or even when I was checking in and filling out my paperwork? I definitely would've said no then and made an appointment elsewhere. Kind of put me on the spot there, so I just nodded and proceeded to follow the technician to get my X-rays. 5 mins later, the dentist comest in, looks at my teeth and says "I see no problem with your teeth, the hygienist will be in shortly for your cleaning" Didn't bother to examine my gums or anything. That took less than a minute, no joke. 5 mins later, a technician comes in (or so I thought), lays me down and says that she's going to polish my teeth. I nod and she begins. She didn't even bother to give me protection for my eyes. Stuff was splashing everywhere and I had to ask for protection. Took 5 mins... Then she goes "the hygienist will be with you shortly." 10 mins later, the hygienist comes in and tells me to follow her to another room. I follow, sit down and she immediately blurts out "Your insurance covers for the cleaning but it's going to be $49 for water irrigation and $39 for fluoride." I said no thank you and she crosses it off a sheet of paper then lays me down and starts scaling my teeth. Again, no eye protection was provided so I asked. She looked around and grabbed one from the next room. I'm thinking...did she even bother to sanitize that? WTF. Anyway, she hands it to me and starts scaling. Doesn't bother to ask if I'm ok or anything. Then she pulls out the floss and starts flossing. All this took 5 mins and 32 seconds (I set a timer on my watch). Again, she didn't examine my teeth or gums, and spent less than 6 mins on my teeth. How disappointing. You know that clean feeling after leaving a dentist office? NOPE. My teeth felt gross and I wasted $10 on a ppe. I have good insurance too, it fully covers 2 cleanings a year + X-rays and basic exams. What a shady place. Most of the reviews looked decent, so I chose to come here on a whim bc I needed a teeth cleaning. I usually don't bother spending the time to write reviews but this was the worst experience I've ever had with a dental office. So please don't go to Lovett Dental, especially this one. I've been on wait for a whole year to receive treatment. I have paid them in full and now they are avoiding to do treatment. First time coming into this office and I am blown away! First off, its very spacious and smelled so good lol! The staff are very welcoming and there's a nice little nook by a television that's great for parents with little ones to wait on. The woman, Aida I think her name was, did my daughters cleaning and impressions; was so sweet and patient with her. My daughter is autistic and sometimes gets nervous in doctors offices and dentists', but everyone cooed over her and were very understanding. Everything was explained to me, and she even helped me out, explaining about future payment plans for more procedures. I never thought I'd be writing a review for a dentist office but the staff at Lovett are really great people. You can tell they genuinely care about your comfort. All the staff was so warm and welcoming and helped me throughout the process of getting veneers especially Alex. It was all done in a timely order. FRAUD 1.5 years after I got service and walked out having paid my full co-pay (which is always already suspiciously high), a collection agency started calling and harassing me. Then they say it's cause I owe $133 AFTER INSURANCE AND COPAY... why you might ask, oh for my annual cleaning. I mean?? What? I literally paid the large copay already. I have been to this office for 2 cleanings, one in March 2016 and one in September 2016. Both cleanings were so painful that I just could not bear to go back to this place when my cleaning appointment came around last month. My teeth are not overly sensitive and I have not had a cavity in 10+ years. The hygienist had a discussion about her weekend drinking activities with another staff member during one of my cleanings. This was highly unprofessional and it is extremely disconcerting to hear when you are sitting in the chair having your teeth cleaned. I can no longer trust this hygienist to clean my teeth. This office does the typical dental office scam where they try to sell you treatments that you don't need and that aren't covered by your insurance (deep cleaning, flouride, etc.). For some reason, they would always call me to see if I could come in earlier than scheduled for my appointments. I typically try to schedule at the latest time available due to my work schedule, so this quickly became annoying. Back in February, I made an emergency appointment with the dentist for an issue I was having. Initially, I was scheduled to see an oral surgeon at their practice who was not covered on my insurance, without being told that I could and should try to see an oral surgeon who would be covered on my insurance. I ended up figuring all of this out on my own. When I needed to get my referral faxed from Lovett to the oral surgeon, I had to call the office at least 3 times to make this happen. Dr. Angel Roman was basically the only reason why I was continuing to go to this place, but he has left. I will not go back to this office. read more

Unfortunately, several visits recently and the service is consistently stellar and does not even compare to all my prior dentists....and its with kind of a high-end feel in terms of technology and the great people. Got new insurance and scheduled an appointment for the first time. Spoke to the assistant when they called to confirm my booking. Was told that I was only going to get an exam and not a cleaning. I was told that if I wanted a cleaning I should have "dialed option 2" when initially scheduling and that "the lady doesn't tell people that." Apparently you must know ahead of time that a routine office visit does not include a cleaning. Who are these people. Though this makes sense for a DHMO provider. They get paid a certain amount per person per month assigned to the practice regardless of worked perform. (Google capitation). There is an incentive to do less work because doing things like cleanings costs money. Apparently, this clinic plays the game well. I was warned against patronizing this.....house of thieves. But for a guy with no contacts in a new city, I thought I'd try Lovett Dental out a few times since it was close to work and took my insurance. Fast forward 2 years. That was a mistake. And a mess. My first checkup went fine. I was told to floss more, consume less sugar, and got irradiated like normal. However, they kept scheduling follow-ups. I had my metal fillings replaced with the tooth-colored ones (great!), but years later my teeth are incredibly sensitive to cold in a way they weren't before (not so great!). At my last visit, I was told that because of the "terrible" state of my gums, I was now a periodontal patient and needed to pay $2,500 after insurance for gum surgery. My orthodontist told me emphatically that my gums were in perfect condition. read more

Went the first time because of my wisdom tooth (Nov 2013) Billing department needs a makeover. I had to call them several times to get back the money I deserved.. because I overpaid... because the department sucks... It took about 4 months for my money to be credited back to my account...... It was my first time in a long time for a deep cleaning. The Asian lady hygienist was perfect. She got rid of the fear in me of going to the dentist (that's why I started going more often to clean..) She did everything she could, she's nice. She tried to talk to you, to calm you down when you are kinda in "pain" (my pain level is real low and she knows it). I enjoy going to clean my teeth 3-4 times a year because of her. She didn't try to sell me stuff, and she even gives me stuff! (which is usually given) Today (1/12/2015) I went for a check up with Dr Angel Roman (think that's his name..) He said my gums were better (becuase he's the one that looked at my gum the very first time I went there for wisdom tooth pulling. Then a new dental hygienist showed up (I think the asian lady not working there anymore.. :( ) She was not gentle at all! She kept saying, your teeth, so bad so bad you may have gum disease yada yada.. She poked so hard when she was "measuring my teeth" and i even flinched because she did it so hard. The thing is sharp you know!! Then she proceed to tell me,oh no, it's not getting better (because you tried to poke in as hard as you can and made it bleed!) I am not sure if that is the procedure but I sure know that the other dental hyginenist didn't give me this impression before.. Anyway.. She proceeded to tell me I need to give you antibiotics ($84/pop/ teeth). She will then proceed to tell you, oh I will put it between teeth so you dont have to pay as much but yours is one of the worst I've seen.. She wanted me to get 4 of them.. I told her I think I'll get 2.. She kinda scares me into thinking that I really need the antibiotic. Because I will have problems later on, if I dont do the antibiotics... Anwayy I got two of the Arestin (antibiotics) and then she jus put in fluoride treatment (foamy white liquid) for a while ($26, $17 with insurance) So total I paid $225 (2 x antibiotics + $40 periodontal irrigation + $17 fluoride treatment) Overall, 1 star because of the veyr nice Asian Lady (Hellen is her name I think) read more

I have nothing bad to say about treatment; however, after spending $2000 for my whole family for treatment on a variety of issues, I requested a copy of an X-ray to be sent to the orthodontist because they diagnosed that she needed to see one. The front office staff would not give us the copy. They wanted us to pay $26 for them after we had spent so much. if my father hadn't been a dentist and I know that according to the law, the medical record is my property; I might let them get away with that. This place is really disorganized and completely unapologetic about it. My husband made an appointment for our 3 children to be seen on a Saturday a month in advance. The day of the appointment, we brought all our children there and they wouldn't see us because the dentist was not added to our insurance ahead of time or some bs like that, but also they failed to mention something like this before we arrived and never called. We re-scheduled for 3 weeks later. We called before we left for this make-up appointment which was set up weeks(on the day they refused to see the children), but they had the wrong date. I went in for a cleaning and checkup. First time to use Lovett. Lo and behold, it is diagnosed that I need a "deep cleaning" which is $750 and not covered by insurance. Since it had been professionally diagnosed by them that I needed this, they would not do the regular cleaning covered by insurance. Even the way it was executed and communicated to me was suspicious. Their "business manager" came in to explain the deep cleaning, its cost and she had all the laminated slides right there to support the story. It seemed like something they plan and execute many times a day. I was wondering when I walked in because they are in a very high real estate cost area and seem to have a lot of employees. I used to love this place until I went somewhere else and realized I had several undiagnosed cavities that had started years ago. My husband also had a unpleasant experience where they charged him for a deep cleaning even though it was unneeded. Yes, everybody is nice, but they do try to rip you off at the end by forcing you to pay $70 at least for irrigation. Ugh I really don't want to give this place 5 starts, but the truth is, everything worked out. I went in for my wisdom teeth removal surgery with Dr. David Tran. He was really nice except for the fact that I woke up without him by my bed. I was completely coherent when I woke up, yet he was nowhere to be found, and he and the nurse didn't walk me through post-op instructions, didn't allow me to ask any questions, and even as I woke up and the nurse was detaching me from the machines, she wasn't talking to me or reassuring me that everything was successful. I basically had to ask some questions myself. Within MINUTES of me waking up, I was being hauled out of there arm-in-arm with the nurse. My boyfriend was so confused, as he wasn't told to come visit me in the back to see how i'm doing. He was just told to come around the side entrance where he saw me stumbling out in a rush. Not really sure what the protocol is, but I was very unhappy with the way things ended. That being said, I am still rating 5 stars because my surgery was a success, and I did receive all my post-op instructions in writing (though I called 4-5 times after for clarifications). After like 7 consultations with other surgeons, Lovett provided me with an extremely low price including the extractions and sedation. It is now one day after my surgery when I'm writing this, and I can say that I've had 0 pain and i haven't even had to take any of the narcotics I was prescribed. I would most definitely recommend this place to others; however, I would suggest to the clinic that they do a better job of apprising their patients of pre-op and post-op processes as well as keeping them under supervision for AT LEAST 30 minutes after they've woken up. I wish I could give less than one star. This place as you know charges in full for visits before the visit and yet keeps billing me even though I have paid in full. Not only was I given two unnecessary root canals, I later developed a bone infection from one causing me bone loss, graft and implants costing thousands of dollars from a different dentist. And yet 3 years later they are still sending me a bill for less than $200 for something I paid for IN FULL before the procedure. I feel like I should sue them for the cost of the bone graft and implant I had elsewhere due to their shoddy work as well as pain and suffering. Also EVERY visit I had to wait over an hour past my appointment time. Good luck finding parking here. Staff is rude and the manager at the time was less than smart. DO NOT GO HERE. I scheduled my three year old and one year old a month in advance for Saturday morning at 930. The previous Friday I got four separate phone calls to get insurance information and confirm. We show up for the appointment on time, I fill out about 5 pages of information totally redundant with the phone interrogation the previous day. By 940 I had the papers back in. Several people who came in around the same time were brought back while my kids are getting increasingly active in the waiting room. 45 minutes pass in the waiting room, another boy who is my son's age comes in. The mother complains about the wait after 15 minutes. I swear the receptionist swaps his chart with ours. It is now 11 am, 90 minutes in a waiting room, and the other boy is called before we are. The receptionist tells me a lie to my face that he was scheduled for a procedure, but we saw her swap the charts after the other mother complained. We leave never to return. Incidentally, during the wait in the waiting room, a dental assistant comes out to ask those waiting if anybody speaks Spanish and could help with a procedure consent. She tried to convince a girl who looked about 10 years old waiting in the waiting room to translate. This is such an incredibly substandard way to obtain informed consent for a procedure for a patient that is made me glad to leave even after losing 90 minutes. read more

I visited Lovett Dental for the first time yesterday because my wisdom teeth were bothering me. I was greeted by the receptionist who was very friendly. My wait was about 10 min. X-Rays were taken and the Hygienist found a pocket in my wisdom tooth area, hence the discomfort. Dr. Burakowski was very professional! She numbed the area and a deep cleaning was performed. I was a little nervous and didn't know what to expect. I've kept up with my cleanings or so I thought. Come to find out my teeth were in need of this type of cleaning. Farnaz the hygienist was extremely caring and knowledgeable. She repeatedly asked me if I was ok throughout the process. My teeth feel great mild soreness but with an extremely clean feel! I'm so glad I decided to have it done! Office manager Aida was great upon explaining treatment etc. If your looking for that fresh mouth feeling I highly recommend this procedure! Several things were very poor about my visit when I had my teeth cleaned. The hygienist I had was Farnaz. 1. The hygienist kept calling me "sweetie" throughout the visit which I did not appreciate. I found this unprofessional and I could not take her seriously and I felt as if I was not being taken seriously as well. As a customer I expect good service by an impartial provider, and not to be treated like a 10 year old. 2. The hygienist did a poor job flossing my teeth. At my previous dentist office, the hygienist would do four flossing operations on each tooth: 1. wrapping the floss around one tooth, 2. then wrapping it around the other, 3. then angling the floss higher on one side, 4. then higher on the other. Farnaz did a very poor job, just flossing up and down in one motion. It took less than 10 seconds for her to do the whole job (top and bottom teeth). She also tried to floss in between my teeth which have my permanent retainer, and she asked me if I felt any strands of floss left in there. There were no residual floss strands left in those teeth, but if there were, I would have been furious with her for attempting to floss them with the manual string floss because the right floss to use is the threading type floss. She did not use any threaders to floss in between my retainer. She did not use the right tools for the job, and she did not do a thorough job. 3. Fluoride application: I was given a giant foam wad for fluoride to keep in my mouth for 60 seconds. This was a giant wad of foam and the hygienist placed it right in the middle of mouth, on my tongue. The foam did not really get on my teeth. She gave me such a large wad that I was unable to keep it in my mouth without gagging. I could only tolerate it for about 20 seconds so I spat it out. When I asked the hygienist if this was enough time because she had specified 60 seconds, she said very untechnically, "as long as its sort of close to the teeth it should be okay." This was a very poor response and left me questioning her ability to provide proper service. I did not get to repeat the fluoride, making me feel ripped off of an important part of the cleaning. 4. Fluoride payment: I was charged the full $33 for the fluoride that was so poorly applied and I did not even get the full 60 seconds from. In my previous dentist office, fluoride payment was always covered in insurance. I was surprised I had to pay. Further, the fact that it was so poorly applied and I did not even get the full 60 seconds of the treatment made me question why I was being charged the full amount. Unfortunately I have to return here one more time because I cannot change my insurance until November. However once the opportunity comes to change dental offices, I will definitely change from Lovett Dental as the hygienist experience was one of the poorest I have ever had. My son was scheduled for crown and filling work at 10 am. We were not called back for the medication until 11:35, over an hour and a half past our scheduled appointment time (not to mention we arrived 15 minutes early). The medication has to sit for 45 minutes. My child had not eaten or drank water since the evening before and at this point it was lunch time. The work went smooth and we finally left right before 2. To me, running an hour and a half past your appointment time for a child that has not eaten or had water is unacceptable. When we left we crossed the street to get to the car and he could not hold himself up, the laughing gas had some to do with this of course, but I believe it is also because he hadn't consumed anything since the night before. Once I fed him a protein smoothie and he napped, he was his normal self. The only reason this is two stars and not just one, is because I like Dr. Chang very much. read more

I've had 3 cleanings and 2 evaluations by the dentist here. The first 2 cleanings and the initial evaluation seemed fair and I felt like they did a good job. However, this last cleaning/exam left much to be desired. One of the main reasons I chose Lovett was because it is covered by my insurance and the first two appointments were completely covered. However, this third time I ended up being charged $60 for fluoride and irrigation. Fluoride I've had before and it's always been covered in the past, but my understanding is that insurances are no longer covering this treatment. The irrigation I've either never had before or I've never been told about it if I have had it. My issue is that they not only gave me these extra treatments without first asking me, but they knew ahead of time that they wouldn't be covered by my insurance and still proceeded knowing I would have to pay out of pocket. I know the dentist and the hygienist knew these treatments weren't covered, because when the hygienist looked over the notes from the dentist, I saw a 20 next to F which she checked off when she said the dentist wanted fluoride. Beyond that, when I went to check out, the clerk knew immediately that I would owe money just by looking at the notes on my paper chart for the day. In conclusion, I feel like I've been ripped off by this dentist and I'm now going to be looking for a new dentist. While the cleanings have always seemed good and the hygeinist I've had has been consistently proficient, these kinds of charges are unacceptable. read more
