Took my husband here for his birthday lunch... we drove two hours. We decided on the buffet which they have all the time and it was wonderful. The only thing they don't have on the buffet is beef brisket, which is what we love, but all the food that we got the shredded pork, ribs, barbecue chicken, vegetables, bread...everything was really good. It's an odd place to have a barbecue restaurant, but it was definitely enjoyable. The service was excellent and they were very good about keeping the place clean. There was a bit of a wait to sit outside - this place is POPULAR! But it was worth those few extra minutes for front row seats of the action on the tarmac below. We arrived during their lunchtime buffet hours, although you can also order from their regular menu. I'm not usually a buffet person, but since I wanted to try a little bit of everything it was definitely the way to go. For $18 I got some ribs, pulled pork, and BBQ chicken. Not to mention, a side of their delish cornbread, and a scoop of two of my Southern faves: mac & cheese and collard greens. Sadly, I was too full of the deliciousness to make a second trip, but if I had it would have been for a heaping pile of mashed potatoes and a generous scoop of their homemade peach cobbler. Amazing food and service!!! The hostess' and our server were so kind and attentive. There's a wait if you sit outside (on a weekend 5pm) but it was worth it because we loved the view and they had a good amount of outside seating. We chose to get menus instead of the buffet and the pulled pork sandwich was so good and a really good size. The fries were seasoned so well!! Warmer weather would allow outside dining with spectacular views. You could go just for cocktails. Full service bar. There's a regular menu and the choice of a buffet at lunch and dinner. On Fridays, fried shrimp is on the buffet, along with pulled pork, fried and baked chicken, delicious ribs, corn, green beans, collards, hush puppies, and great mac and cheese. My date and I went in to enjoy the buffet on a Tuesday evening in which they had tacos as the hightlight dish! We both had the Mac n cheese, ribs, peach cobbler, baked beans! The ribs and peach cobbler were my favorites thus far! We ordered a Mimosa flight, a Top gun, Corona and water to rinse it all down! This was the 1st visit but definitely not the last as Wednesday(wings) and Saturday(steak) will be my next target days to fill my gullet! We also got a free showing of the youth JROTC cadets that are set to be next up. My suggestions for the business is to cut at least half of that cheese out of the macaroni as I could only obtain gobs of cheese with limited macaroni noodles and all that cheese tends to blow a stomach to pieces! The atmosphere is nice but sadly, that's about it. Our drinks took a very long time to get, the food is overpriced for what it is and they have NO IDEA what burnt ends are. First time visiting and what a cool restaurant! Enjoy some delicious bbq while watching planes land and take off at the airport! Came on a weekday during lunch and it wasn't too crowded. Reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because our server forgot about us for a few minutes after we were ready to order and had to flag them down to put our order in. They were apologetic and realized they had forgotten and quickly put our food in so won't hold it against them. Other than that I had a great experience. I visited Low and Slow Smokehouse recently after taking a long break because of food quality and staff inconsistency. This place is very close by and I love airplanes, so I was really pulling for this place to be better. Well my wish was granted; and then some!! They now have a buffet with lots of options. Salad bar, pulled pork, fried chicken, sausage, ribs, collards, Mac and cheese, cornbread, and peach cobbler! I'm sure I missed some, but there are options galore. Everything was hot and prepared very nicely. They even have a full bar and my margarita was delish! The staff was very pleasant and treated us like family, even when we asked to sit outside and then changed our minds because it was very windy. Our server was attentive despite the place having numerous large parties. I'm very happy to see things have changed for the better here. Airport barbecue - what a fascinating concept with so much potential! The atmosphere at this unique spot is truly exceptional - a perfect 10/10 that immediately draws you in with its eclectic vibe. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ends. The lunch buffet, while appearing fresh, left much to be desired. The salad bar was disappointingly sparse, and the wings were both dried out and served at an unappetizing lukewarm temperature. The pulled pork had an unpleasant "barnyard" aroma and flavor that was off-putting, while the chicken was drowning in excessive sauce that couldn't hide its mediocrity. The ribs were the lone bright spot - actually quite enjoyable and showing what this kitchen might be capable of with more attention to detail. The friendly staff and remarkable atmosphere simply couldn't compensate for the subpar food quality. If you're craving genuine, quality barbecue on the western side of the state, I'd strongly recommend heading to JD's in Rutherford College instead - a place that truly understands how barbecue should be done. I came here during a luncheon for a coworker. We dined as a group and they were able to accommodate a large party. This was my first time dining here but it was on my list to try. They offer buffet, can't recall the price but a few coworkers opted for that option. You can add brisket to your order. I decided on the bbq chicken which comes with two sides. I chose a salad (which you fix yourself) and baked potato. The baked potato tasted a little old, definitely wasn't fresh and as stated you fix your own salad, which after eating the salad I was pretty full and boxed the chicken up for dinner. Overall, it was nice experience, food wasn't that bad, ambiance is nice and our server was kind and friendly. Although I only eat seafood I selected Low and Slow for our 50+ group. We had a reservation for 20 and there was about a 15-20 minute wait because the party before us lingered. Only 10 of our party showed up. We were greeted by friendly staff. There's a buffet but it's not appealing to me as there's no seafood on the buffet. I choose the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. Plentiful serving of grits with golf ball size shrimp. My preference is shrimp without tails but these had tails. Also I had to ask for a knife to cut them. Overall the dish was fresh, savory and flavorful. Service was a little slow and the waitress mentioned that she was pretty new. Since they put in the buffet things just haven't been the same. People waiting in the lobbies, while unoccupied, clean tables exist. Because the food is good if you aren't standing right at the buffet you're not going to get much. People loading multiple plates and emptying out the sirloin, bbq chicken, Mac and cheese, cobbler etc. (not the restaurant's fault but maybe limit one plate at a time or something). I ordered off the menu and the rest of my party got the buffet. Literally ordered cheese fries with brisket. I'd been excited for them. Lived them last time we ate there (before buffet). Watched plate after plate of brisket come out to other tables and I never got my food. Like ever. We sat there an hour. After everyone was done eating and I still had no food, the waitress said I could eat from the buffet for free but everyone else had already finished. I don't know if it was her (we had to stop her to ask for refills etc) or the kitchen. We just paid and left. No comps, nothing offered. Get the buffet or don't go. The reviews from the rest of the table were everything was good but the BBQ had a real sweet taste in one bite and the next would be 100% vinegar. Like it wasn't mixed or seasoned properly. Had high hopes for this place. It's a neat spot sitting at an airport where you can see planes take off and land. That is about the best thing I can say about this place. The wait time was a little long considering they had empty tables that were not being used due to an employee not showing up per the hostess. Also tables that were done eating but were just sitting there for way more than 30 minutes. I can only assume by not asking the table hogs not to leave they care very little for their waiter/waitress bottom line of pay for the hard work they do. If you don't turn tables that will take money from them. Not to mention the people that left due to the over hour wait time. When we finally got seated. I asked the waitress for the price of the Blue Sky drink and she said 7 or 8 dollars. When the bill came it was 12 dollars. Ordered the Texas sampler with bbq chicken, sausage, brisket and pulled pork with two sides of loaded mashed potatoes and sting beans. Also the pork belly burnt end appetizer. And a side house salad. So for the food. The pork belly burnt ends were tough but tasted good. They seemed to have sat for a long time to be so tough. The house salad, well was a salad. The rest of the meat was flavorless and cold. The mashed potatoes and green beans were cold. I over heard one waiter say they were pitmasters here. Evidently my idea of a pitmaster and theirs are way different. I expect a pitmaster to know how to cook meat and to have flavor not be tough and flavorless. Did I mention that you can see plans take off and land. For over 80 dollars to eat for 2 people with mediocre cold food we will not be returning. We went around 2 pm on a Sunday so when we got off the elevator, we were immediately greeted by about 30 eyes staring at us like they were quietly warning us about the wait. It wasn't bad though. Only took 15 minutes to get seated. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We waited for the first available seating, and we were surprised that they were able to sit us outside. The Buffet - $25 I was a little disappointed with it. For $25, you'd think they would make sure to replace the food as soon as it was empty and have a full buffet. There were a lot of missing things on the bar. They never refilled the collard greens, and they promised pulled pork but never brought it out. The brisket is part of the buffet, but you have to request it from the kitchen, and they will bring it out. Parking was ok. It was packed, but we found a spot. Their lot is a decent size. It's a private airport, i believe, so not too much "Airport" traffic. But then again, I went on a Sunday. Overall, I would recommend this place. The name Low and Slow Smokehouse had my husband and I excited, as we love some good barbecue as Georgia natives. Well, there is no low and slow or smokehouse, more like oven baked BBQ, yikes. There was no smoke or grills in sight, nor was there an aroma of flavor coming from this "smokehouse ". We opted for the buffet in hopes of trying all they have to offer; in a nutshell we had pink ribs that appeared pickled with no flavor, fried chicken(Oh, and they don't serve white meat options at all), fatty brisket which didn't look like brisket and sides with no seasoning or flavor. Lastly, I wanted to try the cobbler. It was dry and more like fake cobbler made from cake mix. The location has great appeal, however the food is horrible. Maybe we should have ordered off the menu, however I doubt it would have made a difference. Our waitress was really nice and as helpful as should could be. Yet a 1 star is as gracious as I can be. Sitting on the patio and watching the planes take off and land was such a cool vibe . As far as customer service, all of the staff was nice and friendly. We felt right at home at Low and Slow. You get a great value for the amount you pay. We did the all you can eat buffet for $30 which also came with brisket and there were drink deals as well. I really liked the pork skins, brisket, bbq, and sausage. I think the bbq was vinegar based and it gave extra flavoring to the food. I was not a huge fan of the sides but the meats were tasty and flavorful. Especially the fried chicken! Overall, I rate my experience a 4/5 stars.
