They did a great breakfast and made it a personal interest that we were happy there. They were easy to talk to and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. In between going to events we got to relax and have some good conversations with them about things to do in Indianapolis. They are the jem of this place. The house is very historical. We love the architecture and the character it carries. It felt like living back in time before tv's and cell phones took our time from us. Very clean. I slept like a rock in the comfortable bed. I am thankful these places still exist and the atmosphere that brings family together. I can't wait to stay there again next year.

And not just furniture, but kitchen goods, bedroom sets, knickknacks, silverware, flatware and lots of other things. I've been looking for a coffee table for a while, and I found three different ones that I would have taken home with me immediately. The tables -- and all of the furniture -- were quality, made of solid wood and many of them were mid-century style. I did end up buying one of the coffee tables, and I'm very happy with it! I'm actually planning on going back soon to check out what else they have, because I was so laser-focused on coffee tables. The person who worked there was very kind and helped me carry and load my table into my car.

I actually believe my first time to the Center was for the Yelp 500 two or three years ago and since then I've been for art shows, film screenings, meetings or just to marvel at their tremendous parking lot gardens and chickens. There's something so raw and edgy that makes Big Car a perfect fit for its surroundings. Nestled between all of my favorite ethnic eateries and stores, the building and staff is very in tune with what is going on in Lafayette and tapping in to the diverse audience of the area. I would have to say my favorite part about the Service Center is the simple fact that it once served as a car repair shop but is now filled with Sun King beer, a screening room, and a calendar packed with classes and events for all ages. Can't wait to see what comes next for this creative powerhouse.

(The last time I visited, it was a tire center, lol) I was pleasantly surprised by what Big Car had done with the place. I had the opportunity to participate in the Digital Disconnect event where you surrender your mobile devices for an evening of good old fashioned fun. Think board games, letter writing, and live music. Of course, I panicked when I realized that I wanted to tweet about the event and my cell phone was nowhere to be found. But, wow. How refreshing to remember life before being connected to EVERYONE 24 hours a day. Kudos to Big Car on a great event and on re-purposing an unused building on the NW side. I'm looking forward to returning soon and often.

We all loved our finished bracelets and paid roughly $75 for 3 bracelets. Part of the proceeds of each bracelet went to a charitable organization from a a few options provided that we were each able to choose which organization. They shortened hours on Labor Day. From the outside, the place seems small with bigger items typically outside to grab drivers' attention. They have a variety of (new and used) merchandise including furniture. It is like a Goodwill store but more organized. I was told that the items were donated, and they do not have sales. I bought a lap desktop with folding legs and section holders; it would be so helpful especially when I tend to find writing utensils that have fallen between the couch cushions. Also, a green long-sleeve dress shirt caught my eyes so I had to go look at it, which happened to fit me; how could I resist buying this name-brand, attractive shirt! I used that coupon for the shirt, so I got more savings than for the desktop. There seem to be a couple of spots I would like to try to wash out of the shirt. So both $5 or less. Sold! When I got home, I realized that maybe the shirt was new because there was a spare button attached. I will see if the ink on the sleeve comes out. I think the store changed its name to Noble Cause (but still led by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul) and did change their hours to M, T, Th, and F 9-3 with Wed. and Sat. only to serve from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's food pantry. I have a really mixed relationship with Broad Ripple Village, located six miles north of downtown…read moreIndy and the longest established of Indy's seven cultural districts. The area was established by Jacob Coil (which is where the recently established Coil Apartments got their name) in 1836 - Coil actually did name it Broad Ripple because "the ripple in the river at this point was the largest and widest in the country." Legend had it only one man, Isaac Simpson, could throw a stone across it. The area has nearly 17,000 residents and is known for its diverse population. It played host to White City Amusement Park in 1906 and The Vogue opened in 1938. The Broad Ripple Village Association was founded in 1969 to promote life in the area. Of course, many who've lived here for years will testify that the area's "village" vibe has lessened over the years as ramshackle buildings are replaced by high-rise apartments and indie shops are replaced by corporate chains. Crime is higher these days (though overstated in my opinion). The bar scene has always been pretty heavy in the area and the introduction of parking meters continues to be an unpopular decision. I find accessibility to be hit-and-miss in the area, though it has improved with recent construction efforts as curb cuts get better, accessible parking improves, and at least some stores have made an effort to improve access. Some of the older buildings continue to be difficult in terms of access including one-step spots right on the strip and those places in some of the older residential settings. Broad Ripple continues to be a great area for dining, the still under development Riverwalk, a handful of great coffeehouses, nightlife, and a general artsy vibe. The Broad Ripple Art Fair continues to be popular, the Vogue is still a great spot for indie acts, the farmer's market is great, and Broad Ripple Park (and family center) remains popular (Personal Note: It's also where I was baptized!). In terms of parking, there are quite a few businesses with lots, the parking garage at 62nd and College, parking meters, and the Red Line goes directly to 62nd and College. Despite lamenting some of the commercialization of the area, I still have a soft spot for Broad Ripple and spend quite a bit of time here. To catch everything available, check out the Broad Ripple Village Association website as there's an awful lot to do including the Monon Trail and the Indianapolis Art Center.

It is an artsy kind of place that is filled with public art. You will find some awesome murals here. You will also find some nice shops, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants here as well. Some cool restaurants include 317 Burger, Union Jack Pub, Rise n Roll bakery, Sun King Brewery, Broad Ripple Brewpub, the Egyptian Cafe and Hookah Bar, Hoagies and Hops, and Brickhouse Dueling Piano Bar, just to name a few. And some cool and notable shops to check out include Indy CD and Vinyl, Monon Plant Company, Uptown Pup, Prairie General, Indy Urban Flea, and the Indianapolis Art Center. It is also home to the 62 Acre Broad Ripple Park. Most of the area is covered with metered street parking with a few commercial lots also available. It is a relatively clean area that has a high class feel. It is very close to Butler University and is a popular spot for many students. This is a beautiful place that holds a large portion of the Monon Trail and runs some of the White River Canal. They host a farmers market every Saturday, year round, in the Glendale Town Center. This is definitely a place to check out and spend some time at if you are visiting. It is a cool place for locals to come to as well. I thoroughly enjoyed checking out the shops and wonderful murals in the area. This area is full of life and packed with history and culture.

I saw flooring such as tiles, rugs and I saw framed artwork which was difficult to browse through. There are dressers that would be great for a diy project. I also saw some wires, tools and lighting options. At the front are various couches and chairs as well as bed frames. I'll be returning to check the clearance again.

We've all heard of Habitat for Humanity and the amazing homes they build for the underprivileged. The sale of these items goes toward building even more Habitat homes and donations are the way they stock the shelves. I was surprised to see the large selection available and shocked at how affordable the prices are. Most of the furniture is located just as you enter and toward the front of the store. Sofas, love seats, coffee/end tables, entertainment centers and most things desired to furnish a living room, family or game room can be found here. Formal to dine-in kitchen tables, kitchen islands and china cabinets are available in several styles and finishes. Some of the wood furniture had a blemish or two but most was just normal wear. A few pieces would make great projects. Laminate flooring, lighting, shower stalls and tubs, patio doors and bathroom vanities are a few of the other items I found. The merchandise changes from day-to-day so pop in often if you looking for something specific. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm or schedule pickup for large items or bulk donations.
