They need work in the ice cream department. One of the most profitable products was allowed to be sold in a dysfunctional freezer. Many of the expensive pints were covered in frost. This destroys the flavor as ice crystals form inside the ice cream. Other pints were too soft. This is inexcusable in a Wal-Mart, much less a fancy pants store like Lowe's. We went to Food Lion the next night. We found the flavors we wanted in good condition there. read more

Seriously the best grocery in town. Local eats and a craft beer garden? The take out chicken was great along with the pizza. We came from PA and loved he experience and can't wait to return. Honest prices and great selection who could ask for more. Plus the staff is friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to return. I've been to tons of grocery stores in my life as I've lived in several places but I had never been to Lowes Foods. The store was clean unlike a number of the Ingles stores (or the local Food Lion)the selection was decent but not as good as say Publix. They have antibiotic free chicken but did not see antibiotic free beef (believe it or not found at Food Lion). Their prepared foods are ok, (would prefer healthier selections) salad bar average at best (greens weren't terribly fresh), produce selection was average and specialty items up to par. I was forced to go to the Publix or Harris Teeter in Boone for certain items that I knew I couldn't find at Lowes or Food Lion (which I tend to avoid). read more

Great store and this places seems to have everything from desserts, cakes, to large deli selection with Boars Head meats, to Prime Angus meats and pork and poultry, all kinds of neat local BBQ sauces and dressings, large frozen section etc etc etc. You can find almost anything here. Beautiful job on the renovations, now if they could get nicer employees and better products to go with it that would be great! I have been shopping here for 10+years always ask if they can get better quality org. Green apples without bruises and brown spots. Yesterday the produce manager told me very rudely there is nothing he can do about it and I would have to complain to MBI the supplier. Seriously, not even an apology for such lousy produce. This place. Ugh. Ok, on one hand they have a great selection, clean store and lots of items. It isn't as nice as Ingles but it's better than Food Lion. My problem is, between the staff and the customers being so rude, all the time, I almost need a Xanax to shop here. You will get cut off and stuck behind about 20 different elderly patrons from Florida that can't figure out how to share the narrow aisles. You will wait in line for ever while the bagger starts bagging your order then leaves in the middle (every time) and you're stuck doing it or you slow down the line like the person in front of you did. For some reason, even though we live in North Carolina, they get their seafood, including the trout, from Columbia. How is that fresh? I'm in the middle of no where at a specialty grocer and they don't have local meats and veggies? It's no wonder it's 2x more expensive to shop here! Honestly, if y'all were more efficient in your front end and consistent, maybe dealing with the white haired ladies wouldnt be so frustrating. Until then, I will only shop here if I absolutely have to, because the experience is dreadful. read more

Lowes Foods is one of two grocers near me, and one of three different grocers within 7 miles. Of the three, it is more expensive than the other two, but that's relative. Hard-to-find items are more likely to be on the shelf at Lowes. The meat and seafood department is always above par, and the butchers helpful to point out specials. As with its competitors, Lowes carries private label items, which are less than the name brand. I've found the vegetable offerings often wanting in terms of freshness. On the other hand, their wine selection is good. I shop the other stores for basics, and Lowes for meats, seafood, and more exotic ingredients. I probably shop the other main store here on a ratio of 3 to 4 to 1. My rating is based on what I know I can get at Lowes, not price. read more

If I could give a 0, I would. My family and I walked in to Lowe's as a recommendation from some locals, as we are visiting for a mountain vacation. When getting into the store. It was a pleasant look, however, when getting to the Deli we were reluctantly greeted by an employee named Allen. While simply letting him know we wanted to get something to feed the family of six. He continued to assist us in a condescending manner, all while being annoyed with the presence of us as customers. However, we were able to find what we came for, so a 1 will suffice. read more

Store #158 is clean, well stocked, and the customer service is excellent. I find that the variety at this store is superior to some of the other competitors in the area. I had ordered my wedding cake from the bakery at this location and it was more than I could have hoped for. The price was more than reasonable and the as previously stated the customer service was excellent throughout the whole process. Jacqui in the bakery did a wonderful job. I have added a picture of the cake. I opted for the bottom layer to be traditional white on white and the top was white cake with canoli creme filling (groom's choice) and it was delicious, but best of all under $200! All of my guests raved about it. When we head back up to the mountains we will definitely get our grocery needs fulfilled here. read more

I have to admit that I am a fan of Lowes Foods. Their smoke shop is especially amazing. They offer a variety of sausages, in house smoked meats, BBQ offerings, and house bacon. Easily impressive to meat lovers everywhere. Their produce section is quite comprehensive. Countless local produce offerings and more varieties of tomatoes offered than any supermarket that I have seen before. The prepared foods department is just as impressive. For a small town, this is the Taj Mahal of grocery stores. Standard grocery offerings but the real value is the fresh foods area. We grabbed some wonderful sandwiches from the deli, fresh fruit, some goodies from the bakery, and a growler of local beer from the beer station. Clean, well stocked, good sales and good variety. IF I pick an item not the best, they happily return my $ or let me choose another item to replace it. Watch to be sure you get everything you have bought in your cart before you leave. Have had some trouble with that, but when I return I get to replace the item.....just annoying. Also, they ask "if you found everything you were looking for", but like all other grocery stores I have been to, they really can not do anything about getting what you are searching for. They quit carrying one seasonal item....dept manager told me that regional manager promised to bring it up from another store.....still waiting a month later. Think it was the regional manager who fell through on that one. read more
