The salads they prepare are hands down some of the best I've had anywhere. Plenty of protein, and lots of fresh Ingredients like: avocado, egg, cheese, bacon and lovely cherry tomatoes. They make creamy, full dressings that are so good you want to take home extra. We tried the clam chowder also and it was full of potatoes and well made. The base was delish! My family and I were in town on vacation and no idea what to get for dinner. We stumbled upon Causeway Gourmet and every dinner we ordered was delicious! A nice local spot that we decided To order takeaway from. I had a turkey sandwhich with peach compote that was very good! The sweet compote paired surprisingly well with the onion, Mayo, turkey, and bread. The sandwhich has a good filling serving of meat and toppings. My daughter kids meal of spaghetti was actually rather large. It was tasty too. Definitely a good value there. Only reason for 4 stars is because they were out of my first 3 choices of sides. So I settled on potato salad which was ok.. but just kind of filler. Worth a stop if in the area! Will have to try the pie next time! read more

Poor customer service. I have no idea what the food is like. I arrived after 7 PM. There were eight people in the restaurant. I stood and waited 10+ minutes before a nice young lady said the kitchen is not able to handle any additional guests at the moment but if would have a seat, I should be accommodated in about 10 minutes. No problem. 2 additional tables(4 people total) left. I waited 25 minutes and decided dinner wasn't happening here. Kudos to the young waitress who was honest and was able to address me. Thumbs down to the non-existent manager(whoever that is)?? if the owner/manager knows that they are extremely busy during certain days/times, hire more staff and pay appropriately! read more

Oh My God(father) this place is good! Based on the reviews, we came in with high expectations and they were indeed met. We had lunch in their rather plain, but in the process of being updated and expanded, dining room. We split the Godfather sub and the pear & walnut salad. Both were superb! The Godfather sub (OMG!) was as delicious as previously reported. It was stuffed with tender, marinated, thinly sliced grilled sirloin, sautéed onion and peppers, melted mozzarella on a oven toasted hoagie with pesto mayo. The salad was chock full of toasted walnuts, pear slices and Bleu cheese. The housemade Coconut Cake at $6 was killer! At the very least, get a slice (or 4) to go. Service was friendly and attentive. And sanitation score was an impressive 98.5 but bathrooms were out of paper towels and soap dispenser was broken off wall. Overall scores... This mini local restaurant may be small but they made way for our huge party to have their rehearsal dinner. It got a little cramped for our size but their service was accommodating. We had place cards made so that the hosts and servers new who and what we've ordered on their menu... Their portions were big and a majority of our party ordered the steak with mash potatoes and asparagus. They cooked our steaks to a medium.. some more pink than others and they were able to make minor adjustments to ensure we were satisfied with the cooking off our steaks. The chicken marsala was another entree I really enjoyed. If I had more room for my belly I should've snuck towards the bakery and gotten some pie. My family's vacation spot has been Ocean Isle when I was growing up and for a few years after it was a yearly thing. Life has gotten in the way as I have gotten older and I was able to attend the family trip for the first time in six years. Blessings of 2020. Anyways I want to give major props for the improvements to the food on the island. I was pleasantly surprised this trip and this place tops my list. We ordered the Sunset Shrimp, Flounder, Grilled Chicken Farfalle, and the Shroom Sandwich. Everything was amazing! The Flounder comes with spaghetti with a lemon sauce that is super tasty and the chicken farfalle is super flavorful as well. The Sunset Shrimp is sort of a combination of Alfredo and tomato sauce. Everything was delicious and all of the portions were large enough for leftovers. Super thankful for this addition! Highly recommended if you haven't been! read more

Causeway Gourmet is a lovely local restaurant serving up excellent eats just before the bridge to Ocean Isle Beach. It must get quite busy in the summer, but during the offseason it's a haven for locals looking for quality dining in Brunswick county. Typical of the area establishments, Causeway Gourmet has a cozy, no frills dining area and paper menus. The decor is simple and clean, with tasteful local artwork adorning the walls. There are booths and an assortment of 4-top tables, which look like they can be moved to accommodate large parties. There's no full bar, but they do offer a selection of wine and beer at reasonable prices. Sadly, on our visit, they were running low on wine, with none available by the bottle and the only white was a Sauvignon Blanc. We opted for a glass of the Josh Pinot Noir to accompany our meal. In addition to the amazing food, you can expect stellar service from the moment you enter. The restaurant was happy to accommodate my gluten allergy, even offering to make me a special version of their shrimp and grits so I could enjoy our local, sweet, succulent beauties. (The regular version uses a tomato cream sauce with a roux, so that's off-limits for Celiacs.) In addition, many of their entrees are gluten free, like the salmon and the lemon chicken, and they can do most of the sandwiches in a lettuce wrap as well. read more

Bottom line: Causeway Gourmet delivered a great meal to make the first night in the rented beach house easy as well as tasty. Well prepared entrees and sandwiches that beat the hum-drum of usual beach delivery options. If you want a nice meal upon your OIB arrival but don't feel like going out again or making it yourself then Causeway Gourmet is the way to go. The Deets: On the first night of settling in to our rented beach house for the week, we decided not to worry about making something to eat and to go for delivery...but make it a nice meal. We started looking at the offering for local Causeway Gourmet and since they had delivery, decided this place was the way to go. They had a variety of selections that appealed to the varied tastes of the house from the "Godfather" sandwich, chicken Cobb sandwich, a grilled mushrooms and pasta dish with spinach, Chicken Marsala (which I went for personally), and other items. We were not disappointed, in our selections or the reasonable amount of time (quoted an hour to hour and half considering it's the first day everyone around the island gets in for the week, and it really didn't take as long as we thought). My Chicken Marsala was beyond good, it was excellent for a delivery type of option...perfectly flavored, definitely not boring or bland but not over seasoned as well. Those that got the grilled mushrooms, spinach and chicken with pasta raved about it and I had to have a taste...they were right, another winner. Others enjoyed their sandwich options as well. I am going to say I wish I had tried Causeway Gourmet during trips in years past, this delivery meal made our first night in the beach house an easy one as well as a very delicious one.
