My husband and I visited Lowe's today prepared to spend over $500 on lumber for a home project. Unfortunately, the associate in the lumber department refused to assist us, which resulted in us leaving without making a purchase. The only boards available on the floor were severely warped, had raw edges, and were clearly defective and unusable. We noticed new, usable inventory stored overhead and asked if he could bring down approximately 16-18 boards so we could buy them. He refused and told us he could not move the inventory unless all of the defective material on the floor was sold first. At no point did he offer to ask for help, call another associate, or suggest a solution. He did not ask us to wait or attempt to assist in any way. Instead, he insisted that we purchase the damaged and unusable boards. Because of this refusal to provide basic customer service, Lowe's lost a sale of over $500 and likely future business as well. As customers ready and willing to make a significant purchase, we expected reasonable assistance and access to quality merchandise. This experience was unprofessional and disappointing, and it has seriously impacted our trust in Lowe's. We hope management addresses this issue so that other customers do not encounter the same situation. read more

I walk in and immediately see the line for on line pickup and returns halfway down the isle,here I am waiting patiently wondering why the line was moving slow. This location is a mess when ordering appliances from. Never showed up for a delivery, no updates or calls. Than they showed up on a day they weren't supposed to. One of the managers was extremely helpful and fixed our return and rescheduled our delivery, now that everything is taken care of I won't buy appliances again from here. read more

My wife and I replaced our counter cook top stove with one we bought from Low's Home Improvement, we also bought a there year protection plan. We was told if any thing gose wrong or if it brakes after the manufacturing warrant expires that Low's protection plan will cover anything that gose wrong. I thinking great because the cook top was not cheap. So I bought there plan. 16 months later when I try to use this plan because of a crack in the glass of the cook top. I got up to make some coffee turn on the eye of the stove and heard a loud popping sound has I was putting water in the tea pot. I called the number I was giving for the Protection Plan. They send someone to my home to look at it, he took some pictures and 2 days later I got a call from the guys that Lows send to my home. He said Low's said there not going to pay for it to get fix. I ask why, I was told becuse it my fault that glass crack. I ask how was it my fault, I was told because I put a heavy pot on it, but he can replace the glass on it for 600 to 700 dollers. So I called back the number for the Protection Plan and found out that is what they said. So I ask how do you make that determination from some pictures? I was told that was the out come and I could not speak to anyone other then the lady I had on the phone. She was rude and unprofessional has I was asking questions, she was cutting me off has I was speaking. I ask her for the company email or a address she told me that there is not one. I told her I disdisagree with the findings because there was nothing on the stove she said I will be getting a call from someone I can talk to about the glass top. Most everything has been a smooth experience at this Lowe's Home Improvement store. I've received money back on my card for an item that was on sale 3 weeks after my purchase without even having my receipt with me! Lowe's has a TON of DIY items for the novice to the pro contractor, they've got it covered. The only reason it's a 4 instead of 5 star review is because there have been a couple of customer service issues. From when I forgot a hard plastic refillable water bottle at the register & it wasn't in lost & found the next day to my most recent visit where employees were walking past me repeatedly even with me trying to engage them for help. They could do a better job of organization considering I was looking for a trowel for my tiles & they were about 4 aisles away from where they kept the adhesive. It would just make sense to keep trowels in the same aisle as the adhesive, right? Overall this store is in a good location compared to other Portsmouth Lowe's. I haven't been panhandled in the parking lot or asked to contribute to somebodies church while going to & from my car, so that's a plus. Maybe I need to try harder to engage the employees, cut them off & not let them pass without acknowledging my presence. Maybe a hip check into the display at the end of the aisle will get them to stop :D read more

We recently bought a golf cart from Lowes in Elizabeth City, NC . The sales lady was super nice and helpful. We were told we needed to come back the next day to the store and get the title notarized for our DMV. We drove over 30 mintues from our house, got there this morning at 7am. The Notary refused to sign it saying, No it is not required. Yet DMV is saying yes it is. We have tried calling multiple times, and asked for manager. We were placed on hold for over 20 mintues, with no reply. called back multiple times and no one would answer in Customer Service. Called asked for Lawn and Garden. They tried to transfer me to a Manager..... crickets... This is horrible Customer Service. ****Last and Final Update**** Well, Lowe's lost a $2,000 order. We went in and canceled. They tried to deliver the order again on April 20th, 2023 (after the window, but honestly that is the least of the issues) and broke our hot water spigot to washer machine. Had a nice size leak. $1200 spent on a plumber. Okay, fine. Called two days in a row trying to reschedule the delivery (they took the appliances with them) no one at the West Chesapeake store would answer, had to physically go up there. Two associates helped me again (actually helped) and got the delivery rescheduled to today, April 23, 2023. Another delivery team got to the house and refused to because of the "smell" which I found interesting cause I had just cleaned before they got there. Mind you earlier someone called and asked if we are okay getting a scratched and dented dryer. Probably because the first team, which was a huge concern I had in the first place, was not being careful. I was clearly right to be worried. Went in and went to customer service and they told my mom, who can't walk long distances like that (there were no carts) that they have to do the return in back at the appliance center. Then while we were waiting, an associate came in for the day and her coworker, Patricia (Patti) said, "see what they want". Really. Ok. Not can you help them, or something like that "see what they want" like we were inconveniencing, but mind you this Patricia was the one that completed our transaction on April 11th, 2023 and started this kerfuffle. Mind you, I am not upset she doesn't remember us it was how she made us feel like an inconvenience. Now, the young lady who came on (did nothing wrong, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time) was very sweet and asked how she could help us and when we told her to cancel the order she said we have to go back to the front. Are you serious? We told her that they sent us back here and she said I can't do returns. So I announce that this has been a clusterf*** and we start heading back to the front. We get back to the front and no one is at customer service. I am speculating but I do not think the associate at customer service wanted to deal with my mom's return because she was almost off, be it lunch or for the day. So the young girl who was in the hidden part of customer service, I called out to her and she was like I just got here and had no idea what was going on. She did offer to try to do the return but hit snags as returns can and I told her we wanted a manager at this point anyways (nothing to do with this new young lady). The assistant manager came and gave us a little issue (which was understandable) that they had to make sure that they got the appliances back. At this point with this whole mess that was not cool and he did (and the delivery team) went above and beyond to call the ridiculous delivery team and make sure our stuff was still on the truck and actually refunded the order. This was a nightmare and we still do not have a washer or dryer. If you order any appliances or honestly from the reviews anything at this point do it at your own risk. Out of everyone we dealt with I can list three people who genuinely helped us/me out. Stephanie and Tony in Appliances and Brian. I am not sure if he was a manager or what but he went above and beyond trying to help me get it rescheduled the first time. We got more attention from The Home Depot JUST TODAY then we have from Lowe's the entire process of not getting our appliances. Thanks for looking out for your customers Lowe's. ***Update: The delivery team left the store again without calling us. How were we going to get a phone call by 4pm if they left again? My kids participate in the children's workshop twice a month during the summer and once a month the rest of the year. My youngest daughter has been completing the kits enough that she is almost independent in its completion. She is able to hammer the projects by herself and she is 4. This is definitely a good activity for children. A great one on one with your child and nothing beats and make and take craft. I only go here when there's a deal over the other big box store. The service is mediocre and I have yet to find an employee who was "eager to help" or "pleasant" to deal with. It's very frustrating at times and is what drives me to the other store which is only a five minute drive away. The expectations of the typical hardware big box do exist and yes it is clean but I have a quirk that bothers me relentlessly. When I know what I'm looking for I generally order online and like to pick it up. I have gone twice now and they NEVER have the order ready at the desk. This bothers me only because when I get an email/text stating my order is ready for "pickup", you'd think it was actually ready at the desk. However, both times I arrived, said I had an order ready for pickup, and then they would have to go find it. It's rather irritating as the service is being portrayed as fast and convenient. Neither of these apply. Compare this to other places, my order is always "ready for pickup" when I arrive. Unfortunately, because of the sales/deals, I will most likely be back. But as a note to those of you who order online, it's not faster. Other than that, the store does have a nice array of loose nuts/bolts available that make it convenient for those days I'm looking for something rare while working on the racecar. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I ordered an appliance which was delivered dented so I refused it thinking getting a replacement would be easy. It's been hell because they can't seem to keep up with their inventory. Was told they had multiple in stock and it will be delivered a certain day, then I'm told they actually had 0 in stock and I will have to wait for the appliance to be delivered to the warehouse and then 3-4 days after that it can be delivered to my residence. So I get the call the night before the scheduled delivery confirming the time, and then the next day I get an email stating the delivery date has been moved to 2 days later. So I call like 3 different Lowe's representatives and they all say that there was none available and they only just got to the warehouse. Okay, so why did I get a call for it saying it will get delivered? Their customer service is awful, their logistics is bad apparently and their communication is bad. Oh and they use a third party to deliver it, it's not even a Lowe's company so that's another problem. Go somewhere else for your appliances and price match it. Save yourself the trouble. read more

This place is huge! I am a woman that is intimidated by the thought of going to the hardware store. Especially for anything more specific than AA batteries. I came here with my son after this birthday to find the right screwdriver to open his toy robot and insert batteries. It was a pretty smooth trip. I paid this company to install new carpet in October 2022. Company installed carpet in December 2022, but removed all the doors in my house without permission. when I asked them to replace the doors they just removed, they said they dont install doors. when I contacted the company, they said they would have to charge me to put the doors back, even though they were the ones that removed them. I disagreed that i should have to pay additional money for the problem they created. The company agreed to put the doors back, and set a time and date to replace them in January. on the day they were supposed to show up, they didn't show up and didn't call. on the next day, they called and said that the person that was supposed to do the work, didn't show up, and they said i would need to reschedule. when they rescheduled, they didn't show up again. when i contacted the management of the company, they said they would resolve the issue within 3 business days, on January 11th. there has been no contact or follow up. I had to pay another company to come in and restore the doors on my house so that my family wouldn't be living in a house with no doors. read more

I recently moved from VA Beach to Suffolk and I have always shopped at Home Depot for my Home Improvement needs. I spent over $3k on a new fridge, built in microwave, and misc. items for around the house with no issues at first. I decided to go with Lowes on Portsmouth Blvd. to install new kitchen granite counters bringing my spending at Lowes to over $6k in just a few months! Long story short, I am now missing my old counter tops and had to fire Lowes! I went with Lowes so I would not have to worry about hiring contractors and thought they would take care of my needs being a large successful home improvement company. I was wrong. They took the counter tops out about a month after I dished out the $3K and it was on their third party installer to bring in the granite counters which had been laser measured to ensure a perfect install. The problem was that my counters were not level! They couldn't be installed without shims which would void my warranty on day 1. "Unacceptable," I thought and proceeded to call Lowes. They refused to fix the cabinets and blamed ME for not insuring that they were level! The customer service representative explained to me when I bought the counters that I would only have to make sure the cabinets were level if I were installing new cabinets before the new counter install. The contract I signed was ambiguous and allowed Lowes to claim that the wording of the contract meant that I was responsible no matter what. I tried to fix it with several managers at the store with no success. I have a signed document from them that says they will fix any problems that arise, guaranteed. They broke their contract with me and so I asked for a refund. They only refunded me part and I had to call to get the rest back. I am now still trying to get with the third party installer and another contractor to finish cabinet leveling and the installation. My wife and I have been without the use of our kitchen for over a week now. I should have known that this store would be a problem when right away, my wife and I noticed that the employees were not as knowledgeable as Home Depot employees just a mile down the street, (where I should have gone in the first place.) They also avoided asking us if we needed help whereas at Home Depot we had five people ask us if we needed help within the first 5 minutes there. I will make it a point to drive the extra mile, spend the extra penny, or whatever I have to do to avoid shopping at Lowes. They lost a good customer and I will also make sure that I tell as many people as I can how they are a terrible choice for their home improvement needs. read more

I don't know if its because I'm a woman browsing a hardware store or not. ...but I tend to be ignored whilst here. I came to Lowes with the sole purpose of buying a storm door and having it installed. I stood around the doors for about 10 minutes before I had to approach one of the employees. Once he finally started helping me, I was very satisfied. As other reviews state, this Lowes is very clean. I love that aspect of it. The install of my storm door was great. The install department contacted me within 1 business day of my purchase to schedule the delivery and install. The gentleman who did the install was very professional and did an excellent job. I was very impressed considering the fact that Lowes outsources their install services. All in all, I love the store. I hate the fact that I am never asked if I need help when I really do need it. It's Lowe's. What more do you need? If you go here and you're wondering what it is you probably shouldn't go. So, that being said the actual store itself is nice. It is very clean inside. It doesn't smell like your average home improvement store (which is one of my fave things) but it is very clean. I can't give Lowe's a 5 out of principle because i'm not blown away by some of the prices of things, but the reason that this review is a 3 and not a 4 is because it is very difficult to find someone to help you when you need it. I got dry lock cement sealer. When I asked for a representative because I had some questions regarding the colors available, a lady showed up five minutes later with a tired attitude. I asked my question. She assume I was buying without give too much information. Then she handed a pamphlet that shows the colors available without saying anything. I pick a color and told her about it. She didn't even look at me. Didn't respond or agree. Took the pamphlet back, no words, no courtesy. I assume she took my order. Minutes later give me my order with the same attitude. Customer interaction is required with these jobs, and should come with basic courtesy if nothing else. I bought a Porter Cable 10" portable table saw. I had the saw for over the 30 days Lowes allows for making warranty claims on equipment. I was referred to contact the company directly. When I attempted to it took me over a week and 4 different people at different contact points. Then when actually speaking to representative I was placed on hold, and sent to line to leave a message. Horrible products that fall apart with little use, and worse customer service. read more

It is sad to say but I stop shopping at home depot because I was treated differently as a woman shopping in the tools and lumber so I started shopping at this lowes. I was still treated as if I had no idea what I was talking about but Nov 3rd 2018 it was my 25th birthday and I was so excited that yall now carry craftsman tools. I had a tool box picked out that I had found online and as soon as my parents and I got to the store I found it on display. Well after trying to get someone to help us for about a half hour mom mom went to a cashier and they called for someone to "help a young lady in tools" when the man got there he went straight for my dad and asked him how he could help. My dad pointed at me so I told him what I wanted. He went to the back to get it and after another 20 minutes came out with one that the box already looked tore up and opened with holes and tears all over. When I looked closer the tool box inside was so banged up to brewers wouldn't even open. I tried to get the man attention as he walked away and was ignored. My father had to yell to get his attention. When I explained that I was not going to buy that tool box he seemed irritated and said he would see if there was anymore in the back. After over at hour of waiting we got the assistant manager and after she went back she came out with the new one in about 5 minutes. No discount or even a sorry for the horrible customer service. I will never shop at lowes again. I served in the Navy as an aviation steuctural mechanic. I love my job and even prouder to be a woman in my field. As a contractor, I go here all the time for supplies. It's close to where I live after all. Returns process is simple and easy. My to-go places for a lot of goods. They're open during inclement weather situations like snow which is helpful. Staff is leaps and bounds better than Wally's. Sometimes I loose phone signal in here. My refrigerator went to someone with a similar name. They have made it right to 1000%. After another refrigerator was ordered for me I ended up working and staying out of town. And they have changed the delivery date for me many times because of my work schedule and bad weather. Also bad weather prevents me from being able to take the refrigerator into my home. They have again ,again and again CHANGED the date of delivery to assist me. THESE people at this store has gone above and beyond. The managers have given me much mercy. So frustrating when a store only offers self checkout. The item we went to buy rang up as 19 but the ad clearly said 14. Also, waiting for the slow cashier so we can get our military discount is annoying..you have to basically beg for help...check out takes literally 30 mins and why does the cashier near a chair? If you are overseeing 4 ppl check out at the same time...get off your butt and help them! Couldnt find anyone to ask a question about a $400 rug ...we didnt think it would fit in our suv...and didnt know how long it would take to be delivered to our house. First delivery we were told the refrigerator had a small dent and could refuse delivery which we promptly did as the dent was about a foot long. Five weeks later the second delivery was successful. We experienced several issues with the delivery service: First we had to switch the side the door opened on ourselves this was always taken care of ahead of time with prior refrigerators we have purchased - here is a hint Lowes ask before it is delivered what side the customer wants the door to open on and second the delivery drivers tossed a plastic bottle of urine out the window on to the road as they departed. read more

I love Lowes! So much better than their competitor right up the road. For starters, it is usually not hard finding a helpful employee and a happy one at that. Most of the people I have interacted with at this Lowes have been helpful and friendly. I also like that they carry most of the products that I am looking for as well. Their garden selection is nice and their plants are healthy and not dying. The store is well lit, clean and very organized. I brought a dishwasher from them a short while back and I was very pleased with the product itself and the installation. The gentleman that sold me the dishwasher was very professional, kind and thorough in explaining the different brands and pros and cons with each brand. The gentleman that installed the dishwasher was friendly and very professional as well, offering to stay to make sure it worked and tips on how to keep it clean and maintain it as well. I haven't needed to call them for a repair and I don't anticipate needing to hopefully as I believe I brought a quality brand. I've called them before to do ducting work for our home. They contracted out to someone but they sent a representative to make sure everything went well and kept in contact. Also the gentleman that came to measure out for a fence was friendly and prompt with his service. As you can see, I very much enjoy the Lowes in Suffolk. Though I cannot speak for the brand as a whole, I have no complaints with this particular store. I would highly recommend to a friend or family. read more
