We needed an assembled gas grill. Lowe's had many on display in front of the store & I bought one. After it was delivered, I discovered the base had been assembled wrong. I called & talked with customer service over multiple conversations & ultimately they picked the grill up at home, took it back to the store & fixed the problem - thank you. After it was returned & I used it for the 1st time, I've discovered the knobs for the burner are not tight - no way to control the burners, on? off? high? low? I probably need to contact them again - but the hoops defeat me. read more

I stepped into Lowe's after getting paint on my denim jacket. I figured I would go up to the paint department and ask an employee's recommendation on a product I could purchase there to remove the paint. I may be misspelling the name, but an employee by the name of Sydnee was so kind to help and immediately handed over a product employees in the department use, free of charge, to see if it would work! The wipe took the paint right off, but I was just more impressed by how thoughtful and helpful Sydnee was to just hand over the product. While it was such a simple act, it really stood out to me and I just wanted to take a moment and share that Sydnee was great. read more

To boot, most of the dudes that help me here remind me of the Mr. Fix it neighbor that'll fix anything for a drink and the company! They do great on price matching and will even haggle a bit on comparable items that aren't the exact same. Good selection as with most Lowe's and good weekender sales. When quarantine started, I loved the curbside pickup option at Lowe's. They made it really easy, people always answered the phone right away, and there were plenty of parking spots for curbside. Now, even though there are more cases in my area than there were before, there are fewer and fewer curbside spots and the signs are broken on at least half of them. Also, when I call the store and select the curbside extension, half the time no one picks up, and when they do, they often put me on hold for another ten minutes. And communication is often totally scrambled within the store. The other day, I got a call (at like 8:30 in the morning, woke me up) to tell me my order was ready for pickup. But when I came to Lowe's that evening, I was told that my order was NOT in fact ready? As someone with higher risk for Covid-19 complications, curbside pickup is the only way I'm able to get the stuff I need without risking my life. I sometimes feel, lately, like Lowe's is intentionally trying to make their curbside situation as bad as possible so no one will want to use it anymore. read more

I spent an absurd amount of time in Lowes this weekend to do some preliminary shopping for a couple of major home improvement projects - floor, paint, the works! Even though my partner and I weren't necessarily to make any big purchases YET, the staff was top notch during our visit. We were checked on at least twice in each section of the store we entered (and in no way felt harassed) and those who stopped by were able to answer the questions we had. Large stores like this can feel like a maze, but they do a great job of drilling in to exactly what you're looking for and pointing you in the right direction. The lines could move a little more quickly (or they could stand to have a few more lanes open) but overall I have no complaints for the level of customer service we received on a busy Saturday morning. read more

Stay far, FAR away from Lowes kitchen design. The kitchen designer here mangled our cabinet order on multiple occasions and delayed our project by months. Despite us raising objections to her error-filled designs, she arrogantly insisted she knew best. Even after several re-orders, we ended up with a kitchen full of mistakes that could have been easily avoided if she knew what she was doing. She claimed over and over she was having "computer issues" but it was clear the issues were with her competence and talent. I now realize their "free" kitchen design means your design is free of quality. Feel free to get your cheap household stuff here, but I can't urge you strongly enough to *never* use their renovation services, especially kitchen design. read more

This might be my favorite Lowe's location of all time. Which is saying a lot, because these have traditionally been my favorite hardware stores. I usually walk in the doors with a crazy idea of how to make something (yeah, I'm that DIY'er), and within minutes I'm bouncing my ideas off the staff - who're always eager to help build upon (read: improve) my ideas. They're seriously the next best thing to bouncing an idea off your Mr. Fix-it Dad. The garden center is especially awesome. For the amount of space they have, there's a nice selection. I only wish there were more plants and seeds sourced from Iowa and the surrounding states. read more

If I could give Lowe's a minus 100 I certainly would. Extremely poor "customer service". Went to get price match after chest freezer went on sale for $60 less than original purchase price. I called to see about getting refund. I was told all I had to do was bring my receipt in within 30 days, which I did. Lowe's would not honor their word. The girl and manager said I had to PROVE there was a sale for the freezer. I used swear words and didn't get kicked out. I called the Headquarters and lady on phone said she would contact accounting to get me a refund. After 9 days with no reply, I called again and was told that the refund has to occur during the sale. So none of these morons knew store policy and if they did, they lied. I sent an email to their Headquarters and got a reply saying my message was rejected saying my email was determined to be spam. I give up. I am, however, going to make my review known. Word of mouth can do wonders. If you're terribly mad like I was, you can order a gallon of paint in a neon green and not pick it up. Then take a shopping cart and get a few things from every single aisle. Things that are hard to locate such as electrical switches, small bulbs. There are so many things one can toss in a cart. Then leave the cart and the store. Go home and drink some beers. I should have had the carpet area cut me some indoor/outdoor carpeting 30' long. read more

Coralville Lowes installed baseboard trim for us May 28th 2020. See photos. It is like a bad joke. This was installed by their "professional trim installers" One of the installers was visibly stoned. The installers also smoked in our driveway and left their cigarette butts in our drive way. The job was a 770sft space. It took them 1 hrs 15 mins to complete. You can tel!! When we asked for our money back ($400) Lowes stands by that this is a professional trim job and that our expectations were too high. What a joke!! Would you say this is professional? Rude associates! Bad information and the waiting in line is ridiculous ! I went 3 times in 1 month and never again ! They couldn't even deliver my mower on the promised date then made the comment " well if you don't want to wait 3 more days you don't want the mower -we can cancel ". I'm like wth?!?! Pros: 1. Good clean store with quite a few choices no matter what you are looking for. 2. Well laid out store too with the ability to find a map of the store online or through the Lowes app. 3. Their myLowes is a great way to track purchases, get coupons, and even return items without worrying about the original receipt. 4. The items they carry tend to be more modern which fits better with the style I tend to look for. Cons: 1. There is either too much help or not enough help, never the right amount of help. For the most part they are helpful though. 2. This store does not have the same selection of items as a few other home improvement stores in the area, but they do have quality items with what they do have. read more

I'm an Average Joe, ordinary homeowner. Lowes is where I shop to home improve. It's more often then I'd have ever thought and my trips are typically early in the morning on weekends with my kiddos. I have no plumbing, wood working or landscaping experience. Growing up my dad would make fun of the blisters I'd get after raking leaves. A mere hour of manual labor and my hands would be close to painfully popping. I also love me some HGTV and would consider myself an undiscovered visionary in interior design and DIY... but only if my husband or father in-law actually execute my grandiose ideas. That's the thing about this visionary-- I see, not do. I feel I should be ashamed in saying I mowed the lawn for the first time a few weekends ago... and I'm 28... but I'm not. Being a homeowner is fabulous but frightening at the same time. Lowes has so many friendly faces with all the answers to your questions-- no matter how silly they seem. This location is convenient. The staff is always pleasant and eager to help meandering souls. The store is clean and well kept. Pricing and selection seem to be good as well. I've gotten tile flooring, mulch, paint, flowers, tools, light fixtures, wood trim and batteries. You name it, they seem to have it. A one stop shop. (Although, random fact-- they do not have dog bones.) I will say their hours irk me. They're open 630A-9P six days a week. But Sunday is 8A-8P and it always seems like I'm up, doing homeowner things Sunday mornings and have to wait to go to Lowes. read more

Lowes has always been my go-to big box Home Improvement store. Occasionally I would venture to Home Depot while in Austin, and I'll occasionally stop in at Menard's here, but I consistently find myself coming back time and time again. The best part, to me, about this location is that when I walked in for the first time it had the exact same layout as my store in Austin. Well, almost exact. There were snowblowers in place of the lawn mowers since it was November. I've repainted several rooms using their Valspar paints and never been disappointed. I've tried Behr and Dutch Boy in a couple other rooms, and the results haven't been the same. The store is always clean, stocked, and easy to navigate. There's a decent chance you'll run into me there in the next couple months as I attack various projects at the house. read more

Whenever I go to Lowe's (and that's been several times in the past few months) they're out of or have an insufficient number of the bath tiles I've been looking for. I keep thinking the NEXT time they'll surely be in stock, but my hopes have been dashed several times. So I called them to see if I could order a few boxes. I wasn't quite sure which department phone number to click on, so I tried General Information, then Bath Vanities. I stayed on the line for a ridiculous amount of time and couldn't get anyone to answer. Then I finally called Flooring and an associate named Kim answered. Yay, progress! Kim was happy to help me, even though flooring doesn't sound much like bath tiles. Kim informed me that their computer says they have 400 in stock, but she couldn't find them, so she said she would call me back. Approximately an hour later Tad called me back. They found them and had to get them down with a forklift. He said there are plenty on the shelf now! I'm from out of town, so the next time I go to Iowa City, I'll hoof it out to Coralville and find those. The moral of the story is if you can't find it ask. So, I break my Craftman 60" Fiberglass Lifetime guaranteed rake. Of Course there are no Sear Stores around anymore, so I call Lowes. The customer service representative said "they didn't sell Craftman rakes yet, but they would replace mine with a similar product that they sell." Great I think to myself and since I would have really like to get the my job done today. I go into the Lowes store in Coralville and I am told no we didn't sell it we won't replace it. I drove 20 miles one way for no other reason than to replace this rake. Nothing they could do even though their associate said they would. Won't be going back there for a long time read more

I bought two birch trees from Lowe's Home Improvement in Coralville , IA, which are guaranteed for a year. According to the salesman, we can take pictures of the dead tree, or bring what is left of it if it dies. The trees died 4 weeks after planting. I took pictures and went to talk to the returns at Lowe's about what would be the process. One associate saw the pictures and started working on a refund or a store credit without me asking for it, when another associate came into the process and accused me of taking pictures of dead trees and coming to claim a refund. The associate was insisting that this is the store policy so they do not get "scammed" by their customers. It did not make a difference when I told her that I am a good and long-term customer. I recommend that you do not buy any of their trees, as their guarantee mechanism is poor in additions to the insults you get! read more

Normally this is one of the worst places to go if you need any help. The staff has literally turned down aisles when they see you need help. One time I wanted fertilizer and their was a guy just sitting and I asked about it and he told me it should have been where I was looking. I told him the inventory said they had 45 bags. He just Said it is wrong sometimes. And found it at the front of the store and came back and showed it to him. No apology. Sad This time I met a guy name Joe and he actually helped me. Finding an associate who would do his job is a challenge. First associate tells me his scanner is dead. I had to be assertive to have the associate get another scanner. Finally another associate comes by and writes down the sku and inventory shows 10. Never did find them. Do yourself a favor, go to Home Depot, Paul's, or Ace. read more

My husband and I went to go buy a new washer and dryer. We were checked on right away by Jaycob. We knew which one we wanted so it was very easy and quick. He even included all the parts and helped us set up an installation day and haul away for our broken washer. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because later we went to the door section to look for a custom bifold door. When we got there, we stood at the desk, I said hello to the guy behind the counter (after a few seconds of not being acknowledged). He was very focused on his computer so I thought maybe he just didn't see us. He did not acknowledge us even after I said hello. We wandered through the doors ourselves, and we didn't find anything so we went back to ask the guy more directly and he was nowhere to be found. Waited for 10 minutes and he didn't return. Found another employee who paged someone to come to that section. We waited another 20 minutes and still nobody showed up. We will be going somewhere else for our custom door. read more

Terrible experience with this company in Coralville, Iowa. We're in the process of trying to pay them money for a dishwasher. Sounds like a simple thing but the amount of BS has been staggering. We go in, pick the dishwasher, are told to get the credit card and they don't process the order. We wait for the delivery that was never scheduled, call and get things straightened out, and find out on delivery day that they have an installation scheduled and our washer is in the store (but no delivery is scheduled so it will again be another few days). Through this whole thing the level of incompetence has only been rivaled by the indifference that has been shown towards the events. My husband ordered lumber from Lowe's online. I thought it would be easy to pickup--drive up and an employee would load it. I drove up to Lowe's and there were NO signs for online pickups. I drove towards lumber. After waiting, I realized I had to go inside (not ideal in a pandemic). I finally found a worker and he rudely said he was "off the clock" and didn't know where I should go for pickups. I drove down to customer service. The first employee seemed lost on how to find my order. There's only ONE person, a younger lady with dyed red hair, that seems to know what's going on at customer service. She called around and sent me back to the lumber pickup. They got the color of my truck so I assumed they would bring the lumber out. After waiting for 15 minutes, I had to walk in again. AGAIN no one was available to help. I finally found an employee walking by that seemed hesitant to help me. He looked perplexed by an online order but finally led me to Todd in lumber who was a disgruntled employee. He was unpleasant, complaining they didn't spell my name right. He began pushing the load of lumber down the aisle. Halfway down he asked if I could push the cart and load the lumber myself and left me to maneuver the wobbly, heavy cart myself. I finally got outside and had to load the wood myself which took about 15 minutes. Todd reappeared outside to get a cart at one point but still did not help me as I struggled to put in 50lb bags of sand a 40lb awkward wheelbarrow into my truck. By the end, I was a sweaty, angry hot mess. My husband was angry to have sent me by myself, assuming some men would have helped me load the wood and equipment. We will be going to Menards with our business from now on. read more

Love the selection and usually helpful staff. However this past weekend we were there purchasing some pre-fab laminate countertops and got a girl that was obviously new. We were inquiring about pricing and she hadnt a clue and when I asked her if she could scan the item and check..she told us they didnt have scanners and she had no way to look anything up like that?! I know from many frequents to this place that they absolutely have scanner devices to look things up, or at least can go type it into their computer, etc. After asking her about where i can find mounting kits for these countertops, and again her saying they dont have anything like that (which i knew they did) - we opted to find another staff member in another isle and had him help us with all our needs - which he did without hesitation :) read more
