I'm having trouble with a Lowe's door installation. The lock was not set up correctly, and the installer told me I had to "push the door" to get the lock bolt to engage. However, I have a similar lock on my back door, so I know how it's supposed to work--like any door lock! I was in the middle of re-seating the strike plate, which they had installed too far to the left, when I noticed that the face plate plate was not screwed in. They left it unscrewed on the door edge. Now I have to obtain the lock company's manual to see which screws I need to order to have a complete lock. I'm hoping Lowe's will pay for that. I don't want those installers back here. I'll do it myself. The rest of the installation looks good, but this glitch is making me question what else might have been done incorrectly. read more

In general I much prefer Lowe's to Home Depot, as they seem better organized and the staff friendlier, more knowledgeable and more geared to homeowners vs contractors as HD seems to be. This review is specifically for Caleb who works in Cabinets and Countertops and was the most professional, knowledgeable and helpful associate I've ever dealt with. He's well spoken, patient and talked us through ordering new cabinets and a countertop for a kitchen remodel in the most efficient way possible, showing us layouts and renderings throughout the process in real time. James at the customer service desk was also a pleasure to deal with. (The older gentleman that works in appliances is the exact opposite however.) Beware of Water Heater Replacement Cost Just quoted a new water heater installation. Just replacing a 40 gallon electric water heater, quote from estimator was "simple Installation". Just buying a $500.00 water heater, quote from Denommee Plumbing was almost $2800.00. After 4 weeks of being told daily that they were waiting in my permit from the City I finally spoke to the city inspector who told me no application had been filed by lowes or any other company for my address. I finally asked for a refund and will be buying my appliances anywhere but Lowes. First time buying appliances from Lowes and definitely my last. Far and away one of the most frustrating appliance purchases ever. Paul, the sales rep, was excellent. He provided the information we needed about the different models, cheerfully checked unit availability, opened a new account for us, and made sure we bought the items we would need to have the washer and dryer installed. I so wish I could end the review here but unfortunately ... On the day before the promised delivery Lowe's called to say the delivery would be delayed ten days. That was totally unacceptable because we only bought those appliances because of their availability. And by the time they called we couldn't cancel and go somewhere else because the sale prices were no longer in effect and it would have cost us an additional $600 to buy them anywhere else. So I tried to work my way through their horrible voice prompt phone system and ended up making five calls before I reach a real person. The phone prompts are helpful but unfortunately they regularly bring you to unanswered phones, return you to the phone prompts, or disconnect the call. I finally got through but I had to get creative. Anyway, when I finally reached Haley in Deliveries she informed me that the washer and dryer had arrived that morning and they would be delivered the following day as we had originally expected. Yay, crisis averted! Oops, maybe not. When the delivery guys showed up they didn't have any of the items we were required to purchase to do the install and said they couldn't do anymore than leave the appliances. Fortunately, they spied the old braided washer hoses and agreed to use those, steal a 3 pronged plug off the truck for the dryer, and reuse the old dryer venting. OK, not happy but at least they got it all installed. Unfortunately the dryer vent was poorly attached and fell off the back of the dryer during the first cycle. Yikes! In addition, the dryer has a steam sanitize cycle and that wasn't hooked up at all. OK, called the store back and asked them to send someone out to repair/finish the install. Again, the phone system led nowhere. Ended up working my way to an operator that got me to the store manager that got me to Deliveries. We set up a time for the installers to return in two days but while waiting I decided that given the poor quality of the earlier install that we'd just do it ourselves. The installers did a robocall the night before they were scheduled to return and offered voice prompts that would take me to someone who could reschedule/cancel the service. Unfortunately, if you worked through their menu it disconnected you. So I called the number they offered only to be told that I couldn't cancel or reschedule anything through them. It would have to be done through Lowe's. Given it was 8:30 at night, and it was next to impossible to get through to anyone at Lowe's during the day, I gave up and decided to just let the installers know that we didn't need their services when they called to tell us they were on their way. Sadly, I guess that's never happened so they called us twice to confirm we didn't need them and then the company promptly robocalled us 30 mins. later to inform us that we had another visit scheduled for the following week. We wanted to put in a walk-in shower. Went to Lowe's In Leominster Ma. The first shower base was defective, it had a crack in the corner. Brought it back and got a replacement. The second one had a hole on the side of the drain. Brought it back and got another replacement. We were told that they don't have anymore replacements, as they are being discontinued.This 3rd replacement also has a crack on the side. Our installer is going to put some filler in it. I contacted Lowe's and they said they can't refund or give us a discount on this last purchase. Even though they are supposed to have a lifetime warranty. Contacted the supplier Maxx and was told they can't do anything unless Lowe's get in touch with them. Called Lowe's and was told they don't call the company. I guess I'm stuck with a defective base. I'll never buy anything from them, as they don't seem to care about the customer. read more

I placed an order on lowes.com for two 12-foot-long wire shelves, and selected in-store pickup from the Westborough location. Despite lowes.com showing Westborough as having the items as in-stock, it turned out that they had no such shelves (they simply hadn't properly updated their online stock). As a result, my order was automatically re-routed to the Hudson location. I live in the central/eastern part of Metrowest, so Hudson is a bit of a hike, but whatever -- nowhere else seemed to have these shelves in stock (despite multiple Lowe's locations claiming to have them in stock when searched online). I drove out to pick up the shelves shortly after getting an email notification that they were ready. When I arrived, it turned out that what were supposed to be 12-foot-long shelves were in fact about-6-foot-long shelves left over from someone cutting off bits from the original 12-footers. Not sure how this escaped the attention of whomever set the shelves aside for me to pick them up. I asked the customer service representative about options for fulfilling my order, and his answer was to search other Lowe's locations' stock for the shelves -- he found the same locations that I had found during my earlier search, i.e. the locations that did not in fact have any shelves in stock. When I pointed this out to him, I got bubkis. No shelves, no offer to do home delivery at a discount, not even an apology for their error. Waste of gas, waste of an hour. Please avoid this location (and, frankly, avoid Lowe's in general). read more

Bought an OTR microwave with haul away service and delivery and installation for a product already in stock. First date for installation 7 days out, then they called and rescheduled for another 11 days out, their earliest supposedly , then called again today to reschedule! That was it!! Bought an electric stove three yes ago. It broke down in September. I have the extended warranty so called to schedule repair service. After two was of being jerked around I was told by the repairman the parts were back ordered. It is now November and still no stove! A buyback was initiated but rejected because the parts were to arrive yesterday. As of this morning no word. Yesterday I went to Lowe's to get a paint sample for our bathroom. When another woman and I approached the area where they mix the paint there weren't any employees in sight. The other woman went to customer service to tell them. Finally 3 female employees showed up. The one that helped me seemed okay in the beginning. She mixed up the color that I wanted. After that for some unknown reason she put the sample in a cupboard. Even though I was Standing right there! she said I'll be back and walked away! I watched her walk to a completely different area than I didn't see her again!! I had to have another employee retrieve the paint sample. I wish I knew that employees name. First, I admit that Lowe's is convenient to home so it is often a "go to" place as groceries, etc., are all handy nearby. One must not confuse Lowes with the helpful hardware store, as it is not. There is a large variety but little help. My story: I bought a garage door opener and paid for the installation service. A good salesperson named Oliver helped me. I should have walked, however, when the computer did not recognize the item number in spite of many attempts by Oliver to find it or find a way to make the system recognize it. Nevertheless, I proceeded (this took about 30 minutes to even start to straighten out). Almost immediately the installation people were in touch and came up with a very convenient time and day. The technician came and installed the unit. HOWEVER, the wire that came with the machine for the wall control was defective and didn't carry the voltage. When asked what I should do, he said to contact Lowe's as it was now their problem. I went to the store and talked to a manager named Steve who was stymied by the issue. He said he didn't know how it should be handled and I sure as H*ll was not going to do it myself - I am not handy - as I had paid for the installation. He took my name and number and said he'd get back to me. He didn't. I went to the store to find he was out with a bad back so I was given to Dave, another manager. I kept saying to them that it was not my responsibility to do it and suggested one of them come and do it. That wasn't possible. THEY suggested I buy some wire and do it myself! (remember I had already paid for the machine and installation). That, to me, was a non starter. They (Oliver did, too) AGAIN took my name, number, e- mail, too, and said they'd be in touch. They were not. I kept checking in IN PERSON to the store and neither Steve nor Dave was to be found. And I was never contacted. Ultimately, I went to the local hardware store, bought 12 ' of wire, which Lowe's didn't even offer to give me, and wired it myself and mounted the wall switch. I like Lowes but their service and customer service and FOLLOW UP is sorely lacking. In fact it is terrible. One wonders what a home project would be like and if they would stand by it. Lousy experience at the Hudson Lowes this morning. Went to look at hardwood flooring. Aisle full of abandoned crap (including pallet jack, rolling ladder, half empty boxes of boot pans and door mats) blocking the display and access to samples which are stored underneath. Spent 20 minutes pushing stuff around, trying to find the right samples. Flooring sales crew yukking it up at their desk totally ignored me. There seemed to be almost no solid hardwood samples. Total waste of time. Went to Lowes in Leominster with same mission yesterday. What a contrast. Helpful knowledgeable crew - found a sample to bring home. Be careful if you order anything for pick up. The store removed my order from the locker and claimed that I picked it up. Call them and they told me my credit card would be refunded. No refund came. Holy birds. While it may seem like something that could happen a lot, I haven't ever seen this many BIRDS in a store. Now that I think about it, Lowe's and any other big box store of the type could be a big target for birds. Here, at the Hudson Lowe's SO many are flying around (check out the pictures!). It's absolutely CRAZY. Anyway, I completely agree with other reviews for this location. The employees here are really a hit or miss, if you happen to stumble upon any of them. This location has a routine of helping customers, that I never have and never will be fond of. So what is typical is that you'll be walking around and see a whole bunch of employees helping out one customer and then them all go to another customer. From being an all-star shopper in the Milford & Dedham stores, I know that normal people who work here are sort of supposed to know the general way around the store and know a little bit about each department. Six or seven employees shouldn't be needed to look for a nail, rug, or refrigerator. Some of them are really grumpy and just aren't knowledgeable enough to even be considered "employees". The store is pretty organized and has a decent stock of hardware, electrical, mailbox stuff, and appliances (those were the only departments I actually took note of). I'm sure they've got a good amount of everything else.... this location is on the larger side for any given Lowe's. Overall, I prefer my Lowe's in Milford (it's still unbeatable!), but this is a fine place to get something you don't need help finding. 3 stars. Also, take caution for birds! read more

Here are a few reasons why, in my estimation, this Lowe's location is better than busy, congested locations like Framingham. Since Hudson's Lowe's sits atop a hill away from the road, and since there is currently only one other open business there (BJs), both the access road and parking lot are uncrowded. Spaces are large enough to park comfortably and you won't have to compete for a space. Inside, there's plenty of room to shop and staff willing to help. I think because this store is in a smaller town with less shops, there's just less foot traffic. Lowe's is off Rt. 62 which is just off Rt. 495. I live right in town and it's awesome to have a big superstore like Lowe's and not have to deal with lots of people fudging with the shopping experience. read more

I love this place, though its very easy to hate on Lowe's because is sooooooo big that if they don't have exactly what your looking for your all extra pissed "like why do they have a million screw drivers and no _______" . I wish I had read the reviews here before I ordered appliances from this store. I will never do that again. They never communicated with me for more than 2 weeks after I placed my order, and it was only after I contacted them to find out what had happened to my order that they gave me any indication of when it might be delivered. When they finally called to set up a delivery date, they told me that their delivery person would not be able to install my new dishwasher, in spite of the fact that I had specifically requested that when I placed the order. For this reason, I ended up cancelling the order, and will never do business with this particular store again. I have done a lot of business with the Lowe's in Leominster, including having a new roof installed, and have always been happy with the way I've been treated there. Not the same in Hudson. read more

This is an update to my last review for the Lowe's in Hudson. In addition to Bob C. being awesome, we met an incredible person by the name of CRAIG. He is amazing! He has helped our family with installations pertaining to our stove, microwave and dishwasher so we didn't have to pay another $1000 to pay to install. We have been coming back here more and more just because we can easily talk with Craig, and obtain advise that you would ordinarily get charged by another professional. He makes us laugh every time we go into the store, and he is great with kids! His knowledge in the DIY projects are awesome - I can't wait until our next home improvement. read more

There are a few nice helpful people who work there, but after using Lowe's for a home improvement project I honestly never want to step foot in another Lowe's store. I would advise anyone against going to Lowe's after my experience. Lowe's messed up our order multiple times, extending the project for months and does not care to try and make it right. There is no accountability and it is clear that the corporate office really just doesn't care about the little guy. Be advised that they have a VERY shady practice for home improvement projects of getting money up front (minus $100 - really?) so you have no leverage when they screw you and extend your project indefinitely. Even Home Depot isn't that shady. Do yourselves a favor and shop local and give local contractors your business rather than feed into the textbook corporate greed that is Lowe's. read more

I didn't believe all the bad reviews but I guess this is what I get for not listening. New to Berlin and needed outdoor plants for our new home and garden. The garden center had an amazing selection HOWEVER the gentleman who seemed to be from MiracleGro kept giving me death stares and purposefully stood in front of me on his phone while I was trying to get to the outdoor register. He saw me. I stood then eventually maneuvered around him. Being a woman of color living in a rural area I'm used to it, but disrespect isn't what I'll take. I always have to take the high road (unfortunately or it's prison time). I came back because I needed to put the plants in the car and go back for the soil - here he is slinging his pallet of MiracleGro all over the place. The girl wrapping up the water hose looked at me and stared then looked away. I just said "good morning" and kept walking. There's no masks anymore so you can't assume you're getting an inviting grin or whatever. I could care less honestly. Mind you I'm spending my hard-earned money HERE. Not Walmart garden center, not Home Depot... LOWES. The customer service at this place is just plain terrible and unprofessional. The nice woman at the self checkout was extremely nice and super helpful. Professional. I don't need anyone to kiss my a$$ but I guess they want this place to get shut down. Oh well.
