I went to pick up flooring I had ordered online and was greeted with the most bored, unexpressive, Millenial in Riverhead. I admit that the card my clients provided wasn't working, but aside from what should have been a simple fix took over an hour with no appology or consideration. The girl "helping" me spent a lot of time looking at her fingernails and vanished for so long that I thought she quit and went home. I was told I could ring up the rest of my things there, but she never did and when the problem with the flooring was finally resolved they told me to go pay for my other things at the kiosk! Something I would have done during the hour plus I was waiting around, if they had not told me otherwise. When I mentioned what I was previously told, they said "Yeah, normally we can ring you up here, but now there is a line" ? No kidding there is a line, it took you over an hour to help one person! read more

I ordered a microwave from Lowe's Riverhead online. I received a delivery date for a bout three weeks after my purchase, then a revised delivery date several days later, then a delivery window from the shipping company. Needless to say the microwave never arrived. The shipping company said that Lowe's never supplied it. Customer support had no explanation why the product didn't exist, no explanation why they would confirm delivery for a product they didn't have. They provided no indication of when the product might be available. They did, of course, charge my credit card for the full amount of the microwave a month ago. In late January 2018 my husband and I went into Lowe's in Riverhead and ordered a new Samsung stove. This model was on back order and they stated that we would probably be receiving the delivery in late February or early March, which was fine since we were not in a hurry. That delivery date was pushed back again and again and again. We went into the store the day after Easter, at this point very irritated, to see what the hold up was. You see, a few days before an automated call was made to us stating that we'd be getting delivery the day before Easter yet when we went into the store to inquire about the fact that we had no delivery they stated that the stove was not even in the store yet. We asked for a store manager and spoke to Ryan. Since we'd been inconvenienced and our delivery date was pushed back 3 times we were looking for a small gesture to show us that they valued our business - Ryan offered us free delivery, which we already had. The most frustrating part of this whole ordeal was that no one could give us a firm date on when we would get our stove delivered! Ryan apologized, offered nothing else like a discount on another stove in stock or money off current order, he just stated that if we weren't happy we should get a full refund and so we did. Thanks for the suggestion Ryan! We will never shop at this store again! Clearly, Ryan and Lowe's do not know the meaning of customer service. I'll take my money and business elsewhere! read more

I have been shopping at this store since it opened a few years ago. At the beginning, it was rough to get help, let alone people who knew what they were doing. Thankfully, I normally know exactly what I need and try to get in and out as quick as I can. I'm glad to say that I think this store has hit its stride. Over the past few weeks I've had questions in the mill department and in the cabinet area. Both times, helped by to managers, each named Matt. The one bigger guy has been there since it opened, the other one has been there a while to. They both have great attitudes and know what they're talking about. I was in the store yesterday to purchase some materials for a job. After getting the items needed we approached the checkout. There was not a single register open, only self check out and a line of about 5/6 different people. How is there a line of people all confused with no where to pay all before 1pm?! Being that I had large items and a large cart I was hoping to avoid blocking the entire self checkout but we ended up having to go through. The woman at self checkout that had to ring us up (due to the size of the items) was extremely rude and literally annoyed at me that she had to look up a product code. Then she wanted to ring me up for a 10' piece of rebar when I had 4 12" pieces (she literally tried to tell me it was 10ft). After a little effort she was able to find them. And was continuing to lecture me the entire time. When I went to pay my card was declined (as bank protection) and I had to call to approve the purchase. She rolled her eyes and gave me more lip. After being in the phone for I kid you not 35 seconds she asked me when I was going to be done and rudely told me she was going to cancel the transaction if I didn't hurry up. The customers around me all heard her and could not believe how rude she was being. One older gentlemen (a veteran) actually out the stuff down he was going to buy, and said forget it and just walked out. I will literally never return to a Lowe's. If a customer of mine hadn't requested a specific material from Lowe's I would have dropped all of it and left. Horrible and frustrating experience with a bathroom Reno that is unfinished. Months and months of being shuffled around. Total incompetence at the Riverhead location on many levels. In most cases when I shop,I use the Self Checkout if it's available. I find it's faster then waiting in a check out line. At Lowe's some one is there to assist if necessary. If no one is in line they call you up and and check you out. That's fine. I was in there the other day went to check out and the person was checking some one out. I went to a check out machine and she told me no, I had to wait until she finished with the current customer. The lights were lit on 3 machines and there didn't appear to be anything wrong. I asked why I had to wait and she told me "They were having trouble with some machines" In what I would characterize as a snippy voice. I didn't believe her. It didn't make sense that if the self checkout wasn't working, why was it open??? Why not put someone at another register to check people out. my experiences at Lowe's remind me why I try Home Depot first. This may sound like a petty complaint, but when you want to get in and out quickly and and you are slowed down by mismanagement and rude employees it's time to shop else where. I had ordered an outdoor Christmas decoration from a store in CT as there were no stores on the island that had it in stock. When it arrived (2 weeks before Christmas) it was damaged and unable to be used. I immediately called Lowe's in Riverhead and was assured that the damaged item would be taken back without issue. On December 27th we brought the item back but were informed that no seasonal items could be returned after 12/26, I had not been notified of this prior. In an attempt to speak to the Assistant Store Manager "Ralph", and explain to him that the item was received damaged and unable to use, he was extremely unprofessional & condescending. He wouldn't even allow me to fully explain my situation and instead just kept repeating the policy to me. He also lied by telling me that the computer system wouldn't allow him to complete the return. From there I called corporate, which had instructed me that the store manager should have handled this and directed me to speak to the manager from the store that the item had come from (CT). Upon calling the CT Assistant store manager, he was extremely understanding of the situation and was quick to find a way to get me my refund. He called Ralph in Riverhead to inform him that he was allowing the return to be authorized, but Ralph still refused!!! The CT store manager was even appalled by Ralph's attitude & unprofessionalism, so much so that he went out of his way to contact another Long Island Lowe's location and found another manager that was willing to help us solve this problem. I was finally able to receive my refund for this damaged item but it took hours of unnecessary work (and driving) on my part. Lowe's in Riverhead & their management team clearly have no professional standards. It is completely disgraceful how they would let a customer get stuck with $150 worth of damaged & unusable merchandise! Their customer service is nonexistent and people like Ralph have no business holding the title of Assistant Store Manager! Ralph should absolutely be mandated to take courses on communication, management, and customer service. I'm sure we aren't the first (or last) customers that Lowe's has lost due to the extremely poor level of management skills!! read more

I recently purchased a new kitchen from Lowe's. After the template for the countertops was done, I received an email from the countertop company saying that I owed more money. I called Lowe's to discuss this issue and a woman named Susan in the kitchen and cabinet department was absolutely the rudest salesperson I have ever encountered. She gleefully informed me that I did in fact owe more money and that the price I paid was just an "estimate" and I was told that from the very beginning. When I told her that I was never told that my price for a new kitchen was an "estimate" because they measured everything and ordered all the cabinets so they knew the specs, she basically told me that I was a liar and that I was in fact told that because all customers are told that. This store is the worst around down to the management. I have spent a lot of money in this store redoing my house in the past year.. 1 ordered a carpet and was told it be guaranteed and installed in a week. Two weeks later no carpet and when i called i was told "well nothing is guaranteed" poor customer service. 2. my mother in law bout a lawn mower and was told all she has to do is take it out of the box. When she got it home it was not assembled so we took it back and asked for it to be put together and were told, No we cant do that we need to make an appointment next week and they try to do it. We returned it and went to Home Depot where it was assembled and were told if it wasnt that they would do it for us on the spot. I ordered a Weber grill online from Lowe's in riverhead 699.- with free delivery . Received an email confirming my order and they would notify me two days prior for delivery. An hour later Lowe's calls and informs me they Won't deliver to Shelter Island! Excuse me your ad stated Free Delivery it did not mention except Shelter Island ?! FAKE ADVERTISING!!!!! I decided to call customer service And the woman said I was definitely in the delivery zone Riverhead to Shelter Island ny approximately 21 miles. I ordered a grill from them online to pick up in the store (tried doing free delivery since it was over $400 and the website stated that they do free delivery for orders over $400, but they kept charging me $80 to deliver it). After getting the runaround all morning between the store and corporate (who told me the grill came in on the 31st) i was informed that it is till in transit and they will call me when it comes in. I will never use this store ever again, which is too bad since we are redoing 3 kitchens over this year. If you need a hardware store go to Home Depot down the road instead, they are much more friendly and accommodating to their customers. Appliance delivery service to the Hamptons is inflexible and rude. Overcharges compared to Home Depot by $60. Won't deliver on Saturdays. You must sit by your phone to set up delivery. On delivery day, you must answer the phone at 8 am or they cancel your delivery. They won't allow you to call the delivery service to confirm. Waited nearly two weeks to hear about an estimate for a wall-to-wall carpeting job, only to be told when I finally called them that they hadn't heard back from their contractor yet. This was on top of an item I ordered online to be shipped to the store still not having left the vendor two days after it was due to arrive. Customer service people are arrogant, and it's difficult to find anyone on the floor to help. I canceled everything with this store and from now on, my money will go to my local businesses--the first flooring place I went gave me a great estimate on the spot, and will be here to install the carpet within the week. read more

All the plants, shrubs, perennials, flowers in the garden section were dried out and stressed in poor condition so it was not the first time. totally neglected. Associate at checkout said they were just watered. I told her no they were NOT. Than she made the excuse they were understaffed. The manager came by and said they did not have enough people. I guess the associate wants someone to talk to while she walks around doing nothing by the entrance. Absolutely no customers - so they lie and are lazy. Went to customer service to complain, associate said they did not have enough people. Excuses for poor work constantly. As I was leaving, the manager was showing the associate how to water the plants. In contrast to a private nursery a half mile away, the owner was working in the green houses with a bell by the checkout to ring so she could come. Saw several other bad reviews of employee service in this store, it needs a complete overhaul. A shame I really looked forward to having a Lowes in Riverhead the other stores on Long Island have great garden sections. I normally don't write reviews but this was so bad I had too. read more

We had a great experience today! Dad and I went with the big dog (did you know Lowes allows dogs?) we purchased a refrigerator and countertops for the new apartment--what I want to express is that everyone was really great--from the two young gentlemen who were stockers who helped with the countertops--to Tom, who helped with the fridge, to Ryan the manager who helped check on prices, but especially to Leslie at the check out who kept us entertained and helped SO much! I have come to realize that not all Lowe's are the same. This one is still a bit new, but they seem to be keeping it clean and well stocked. Staff is more helpful and knowledgeable than at some other locations. I shop here often and was very pleasantly surprised to find someone who knew a lot about rubber roofing even though they do not stock it. read more

My husband and I went in looking for carpet and were (nicely) told by the associate that we couldn't talk to him about carpet types and colors and details until Lowes came to our house and did a consultation. He wouldn't even answer any questions until we had the consultation. He kept saying, "The guy will answer everything when he gets there", or "The guy will be able to help you make a decision on the size/area and type of carpet." He said it was $35 for the consultation and that the $35 fee would then be applied to the carpet when we purchased it, and if we didn't then we would lose the money. Ok, that is understandable. The guy shows up and takes BASIC measurements - my husband and I had taken measurements before we made the trip to the store so we could be prepared to order a custom carpet and they were EXACTLY THE SAME. I asked him about the area he thought would be best for our needs and the type of carpet he recommends. His response? "It is entirely up to the customer." When I pushed a little more for a suggestion since this is what he does for a living (not to mention we were promised a professional opinion when he came), he just kept saying "It is entirely up to the customer." Well, that was so frustrating since the guy at the store kept saying that he couldn't help us until the consultant came and did the home visit, or rather "There's no point in talking about anything else until the guy comes to the house". Needless to say, the Lowes "carpet professional" leaves and I am left with the same information I had before we even went into the store in Riverhead! As if that wasn't bad enough, we checked our cc statement and Lowe's charged us $58.02 instead of the $35!!!!!!! So we paid almost double for AWFUL service!! NO. GOOD. LOWES. No good indeed. Kind of makes us want to start going to Home Depot or any other place, for the rest of our home improvement needs. Anyway, please give us our money back Lowes. Also, I think he worked for some other company since he kept saying that name instead of Lowes when he called the house and when he came in... HMMMMMMM... Really Lowes? read more
