We ordered an air conditioner to be picked up at the store at 11 and received an order confirmation at 11:45. We waited until 3 and went to the store to see what was taking so long. The cashier was very helpful and said he'd check to see why it was taking so long. In the meantime, we found the ac unit in the store on a shelf and took it to the cashier. The cashier called the person fulfilling the orders so we could take that ac. The person filling the orders for pickup was rude and went to get another air conditioner instead if letting us have the ac that we got from the shelf. The one he brought to us was in a severely damaged box. The cashier told us to take the one we had in our cart and we left. We shop at Lowe's at lot and have never had bad service. I am so disappointed in Lowe's! Hopefully, this was an isolated case and I never have to meet up with this employee again. read more

I have reached my breaking point with Lowe's customer service. My wife and I own homes in both Maine and North Carolina and have been loyal Lowe's customers for years. We are also Pro members. Unfortunately, after today's experience, we will no longer be shopping at Lowe's. I went into Lowe's to return an Orbit water wand that I purchased approximately two weeks ago. The product is defective--it continues to spray water even when shut off. I did not have my paper receipt, but I provided my information and explained that I am a Pro member and have a MyLowe's account where purchases are tracked. The associate spent more than 25 minutes attempting to locate the purchase, even after confirming on her device that it was the exact product sold by Lowe's. What should have been a simple return turned into an unnecessarily frustrating experience over an $18 item. I then asked to speak with a manager. Instead of coming to customer service, the manager responded over the radio that they were "busy out back" and never came to address the situation. What disappointed me most was not the defective product--it was the complete lack of customer service and accountability. Customers deserve better than being left waiting and ignored when they ask to speak with management. I've shopped at both Lowe's and Home Depot over the years, and the difference in customer service is night and day. In my experience, Home Depot has consistently made returns and customer concerns straightforward and hassle-free. I rarely post negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I felt compelled to share it. Let me start by admitting that, to me, this Lowe's and this Lowe's (https://www.yelp.com/biz/lowes-home-improvement-scarborough) are nearly the same place - in layout, in availability, in staff, etc. And, if I go to one, I usually end up going to the other immediately afterward to see if they have what I was looking for if the other didn't, so I think I've done this mash-up to myself. Things I like about "the mall" location:: 1. It seems like the flower/herb/veggie selection is more abundant/are more available longer into the season. Things I don't like about "the mall" location: 1. The other shoppers here seem way ruder/way more in a rush than Brighton. 2. The parking lot is in the top three most chaotic in Greater Portland. Things I like about both locations: 1. Using the outside register. Things I don't like about either locations: 1. The horrible inside registers (both the self check-out and the ones with people; why are they SO SLOW?!). Things I like about Lowe's in general: I think Lowe's as a corporate brand does a good job at seasonality. Unlike Walmart, the Dollar Tree, and even Target who, for example, have their back-to-school stuff up by early July and have already transitioned completely away from anything summer/patio/gardening, Lowe's doesn't. Some of us don't have our gardens planted by Memorial Day, so I appreciate that I can still get my mint and dill "later" in the season, I guess. read more

Horrible installation contractors for doors and terrible follow up from staff and customer service.

This review is based solely on the delivery of an appliance that came from their warehouse in Massachusetts which Lowes subcontracts out to a business down there called XTD. XTD is an unprofessional, unpleasant, rude, disrespectful business. They failed to deliver it the 1st time because they didn't want to take the doors off the refrigerator in order to get it inside & they drove off while I was trying to call Lowes to figure out why they couldn't do that. Never got thru to anyone until the next day. Manager said they should absolutely have taken the doors off so now a week later on the rescheduled date, they didn't show up at all!! All day trying to call both Lowes & the delivery business- 6 hours - nobody called me back at all. That was 2 days of work I took off for non delivery. No way was I going to reschedule with a scam of a company. I ended up getting a refund & going with a local appliance company who does their own deliveries and service if needed. I bought tomato plants from Lowe's this spring, eight of which were Bonnie plants labeled Beefsteak. I grow them every year and love that they are so large. More bang for your buck! Except that these turned out to be NOT Beefsteaks. They are small tomatoes and shaped like Oxhearts, something Bonnie doesn't even grow?! I did contact Bonnie with photos and they had no idea what they were. Another one of the alleged Beefsteak plants never really grew and will produce only about five tomatoes! What a bummer! I contacted Lowe's 800 number and they forwarded my info to my local store and was contacted by a nice lady here in Scarborough. She apologized, refunded my purchase price and sent a $20 gift card, too! She did say that they come labeled so it wasn't something that they would have done at the store. It's a weird thing to happen, but this IS 2020, so that's what they are. 2020 tomatoes. In any case I appreciate the way Lowe's handled it! The other tomato plants are correct and producing lots of fruit. We are looking to replace the flooring in our recently purchased seasonal home. We are from out of state so we visited our Lowe's in Florida and received the information we needed. Unfortunately we had to contact the Lowe's in Scarborough to schedule the measure and install. Because we were from Florida and had extenuating circumstances I requested to speak with an associate to the animated service. The phone rang 20 times each with six times to contact. The last time I requested to speak with the store manager via animated service. Finally getting a real time person in the position of front end manager, I was informed the flooring associate was (Gavin) at lunch (4:30 pm) He would call me back when he was back. I provided information and did a read back. It is 9:30 pm and apparently Gavin is still at lunch. Tomorrow we will head to Home Depot in hopes of completing our flooring tasks. We will also go to Home Depot for our replacement appliances, our paint and all other home improvement supplies we will require for our new home renovations. It was apparent our business was not important to them. read more

This is my experience: I was about to order a countertop, and the ad said the backsplash is included until I got to the part where I was about to place the order, and a dialog box came up and said, to the effect, "Don't forget these extras", i.e., the backsplash and the edge piece. This is deceptive advertising, and they just lost a customer, but they, like most large corporations, don't give a rat's derriere. There should be a law against this; in other words their countertop is ala carte, and it was stated in the description that the backsplash was included. I am sick to death of dealing with shysters and scam artists, and this company qualifies for both! read more

The customer service compared to Home Depot is horrendous. They don't answer the telephone when you try to reach someone. You can't find anyone when you need them. And today I went to exchange a propane tank and waited now 15 minutes for someone to show up to exchange the tank outside for me. Why I will be only going to Home Depot from now on. At least there they have enough customer service agents always available to assist. Lowe needs to revisit staffing policies. I like to give credit where credit is due. I just had a great experience at the Lowe's in Scarborough. I had a project I was working on and was lucky enough to have Billy in the hardware department help me. I told him what I was doing and instead of ringing me up and wishing me luck he went the extra mile to help me out. He asked me if I had a few minutes and that he would be more than happy to help measure and drill some holes in these brackets that I needed for my project. That alone save me a lot of time which I am very grateful for. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Every time I've gone in there everyone seems very nice and accommodating. I made an online order and it was scheduled to be delivered to my house. Two days before delivery (which was two weeks after the order, despite all products being in stock) I received an email saying my full delivery was scheduled. The day before delivery I get a phone call saying that they didn't have 1/3 of my order and they had to order from the distribution center. They promised it would be delivered by the end of the week. We ended up not liking the tile and I took it to the store to return 1 day after it's delivery and I discovered they shorted me 25 tiles and Tammy (whom was very rude) refused to refund me the full price because I didn't have the full order. I explained to her that it was delivered to me and why would I order 160 tiles and keep 25 of them!? She called a manager and he finally agreed to refund me the full cost of the tiles, because their shipping/receiving department clearly messed up. Still have yet to receive the remainder of my order (supposedly I'll get it tomorrow). This Lowe's won't be seeing any of my business any further. I will drive to either Home Depot or a Lowe's further away. Their shipping/receiving department clearly needs some simple addition training course. read more

It's not that they don't sell it, it's that they are out of stock. While they say Supply Chain Issues, why is it that the Portland store has what I need in stock? Appliance sales and delivery are atrocious. We had to wait 20 minutes and bug the service desk in order to get a sales person to order 3 large appliances to the tune of $1400. You'd think they'd be interested in making money from a return and regular customer. Come delivery day, we were told between 12 and 4 pm. So I had to go and get a 6' piece of wire. There's this big machine that has a bunch of rolls of wires on it that you need someone to operate and measure and cut what you need. So there was nobody in aisle 13 so I walk down to aisle 8 or 9 where the metal was and I find a employee name BOB I ask him if he could get someone to help me he said yes so instead of going and finding someone to help me he went back to what he was doing. Anyways so I find this other employee Jerry I believe that's his name, he's in a wheelchair lost his legs super friendly and he goes out of his way to find someone. So an 30 minutes goes by Jerry still trying to figure out where homeboy is at. So he wheels up to customers service so in the meanwhile I found what I needed on the shelf there was pre rolls you could buy so I just took off the 6' that's what I needed and got the sku # from the list and went up to pay for it. So Lowe's is ok but if you looking for help forget about it. Maybe next time I'll stay with Home Depot. read more

I went to the Portland, Maine Lowe's location to purchase a snow blower. An employee by the name of Al recommended me the CRAFTSMAN 208cc model, advertised for $699. There was a sale sign next to the snow blowers that read that all Craftsman snow blowers were 10% off. Al acknowledged what the sign read. I told Al that I would first check out other stores and depending on what I found, may return for the snow blower. After going to Home Depot and Mardens, I decided that the discounted Lowe's snow blower was the one I wanted. I thus drove back to Portland, only to find out that the sale sign had been taken down. I spoke to both Dave and (the manager) Sharon, who told me that they saw no sales advertised online and did not know anything about any sales signs, so would not give me the advertised discount. I expressed that that very morning when both Al and Mike (employees) were present, the sale sign was there. Al had verified that the sign was applicable to the transaction in my presence. Lowe's advertizing a 10% discount for all Craftsman snow blowers, gives Lowe's the obligation to abide by their advertisement. Sharon would absolutly not work with me, insisting that she had no way of knowing what the "presumed" sales sign read (she very well could have contacted Al for a confirmation of the fact), and that Lowe's never had snow blower sales at this time of the year. I thus contacted Lowe's Store Support Specialist service, spoke to Sylvia D. and explaned the situation to her. She responded that she did not see any such sales online and that the store management would contact me within 24 hours to find a solution. No one contacted me. I thus re-contacted Lowe's Store Support Specialist service and spoke to Joyce B. She responded that the store manager would contact me within 24 hours. No one contacted me. I thus looked at their online site only to find that the advertized 10% off sale for the snow blower I wanted was there. I thus purchased the snow blower online. Upon picking it up, I noticed that they had a $100 off cupon for the same snow blower at the reception desk, making it even cheaper. Why was Lowe's unable to provide me with the advertised sale; why were multiple Lowe's associates unable to see the sale online; why did Lowe's fail to get back to me every time they said they would; why did Lowe's fail to let me know that they actually had a '$100 off' cupon for the same snow blower in their sales newspaper? Sounds like complete incompetence to me, but apparently just another day at the office for Lowe's. I went to the same Lowe's location (1058 Brighton Ave, Portland, ME 04102) where I purchased rockwool. I inquired as to where I could find a rockwool knife, an employee responded that they were located in aisle 18. Upon arriving at the aisle, I noticed an (elderly woman) employee (Jo) on her phone. I waited until she was finished and tried to get her attention by exclaiming "escuse me"; she snapped "What do you want ?". I proceeded in asking if she could help direct me to the rockwool knife. She told me to go to a different part of the store with the sheet rock. I explained that I did not want a sheet rock knife but one for rockwool, an insulation and that we were in the insulation aisle. She insisted that I was in the wrong section and started walking away. I told her that another employee told me that they would be located on aisle 18. she responded "Well maybe you should have him come walk all the way over here and help you find it!". As she walked away I saw the rockwool knife right behind her. I showed her that the rockwool knife was indeed in aisle 18. She just glared at me and kept walking away. read more

I called Customer Service from the aisle and asked them to please send someone over. She said, "I'll try." Waited 10 more minutes. No one came to help me. I called Maine Hardware from the Lowe's aisle and they said they had the product and would put it aside for me. Spent 5 minutes in Maine Hardware and got the tool I needed for 10% less. read more

One might wonder what would merit an updated review for a place like Lowe's, but bear with me on this journey... Everyone who knows us is well aware that we try to live a "greeny" lifestyle. We carpool, recycle, compost, ride our bikes, etc. We're not carbon neutral by any means, but we try to be conscious of how we live and how it affects the environment. With a little one on the way, we have decided to give cloth diapers a try since they have come a LONG way since we were babies. There's a nifty gadget in the cloth diapering world called a diaper sprayer. It attaches to your toilet so you can easily rinse your diapers before you put them in your washing machine. The retail versions of these sprayers start at $50 and move up from there. Unacceptable, really, since we felt we could make one ourselves, get a better product, and save money. Plumbing projects remind me of assembling IKEA furniture... except the parts are not labeled and there are thousands of pieces to choose from. As we stood in Lowes gathering everything we thought we would need, cursing at the lack of a female/male piece in a certain size... an angel in a red vest approached us. He started with a "what's the project today, folks?" greeting, and before we could respond, he took a step back and looked at the parts in my husband's hand. "Are you trying to make a cloth diaper sprayer?" he asked. THAT is why this location and its employees rock. He found us the pieces we were cursing over, we went home and put it all together, and it works fabulously. My only regret is that we forgot the helpful employee's name by the time we got home, he really deserves recognition! read more

A pleasant experience from start to finish. We recently found ourselves in need of both a dryer and gas grill (when it rains it pours). After being completely let down by another national chain we decided to try Lowe's. I'm really glad we did. In both departments we were met and helped by very knowledgable staff that went above and beyond not only to help us find the right appliances, but made sure we had them delivered before 4th of July and the beginning of a parade of incoming house guests. As promised, our order was delivered on time by friendly professionals. Everything was installed perfectly and our old appliances hauled away. As an extra bonus,I get to look forward to receiving a mail in rebate in the form of $100 Lowe's gift card for buying my grill. read more

Looking for mini-blinds. They had what I needed. They were the cheepies . So they are functional, all I need at my age. . They installed in the original "holders" that have been in place for many years. So installation was easier. The peeps at Lowes were very helpful, and answered my questions about cell bljnds too, maybe for the future. The place is clean and well organized. In late December I went to the Lowe's at 1000 Gallery Boulevard in Scarborough, Maine and discussed my needs and wants with the sales associate, Andrew O'Neil. Andrew spent a lot time with me describing the pros and cons of various brands and models of refrigerators, ranges, washers, and dryers. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the products. He also was very customer oriented, did not want to sell me a product that might not be right for me. Gong to use my local carpet folks from now on. Had a really bad experience with my order. It is now causing a closing delay.

I signed a contract on July 27, 2018 to have all new Siding and a new bay window installed. Contract said estimated date of Installation would be within 30 days and completion within 60 days. Today is the 24th of September and no work as been started yet. I talked to their main office twice last week and was told the installer would call me back. I never heard back from him. I was then told to Contact Heather Roudebush and she would help me. I called her number and her message says if u leave a phone message it Will taker 48 hours to get back to you but if you send her an Email she will Get back to you the same day. Never heard back from her after I sent he E mail. Finally called Lowe's and she answered the phone Then checked with installer and told me it would be another 3 or 4 Weeks before installation could begin. I told her I want to cancel the Job and get my deposit back. She said she would call my salesperson And I could work it out with him., I will keep,yelp informed. Worst customer service ever. Contacted by installer and found out he was in NC for the Hurricane. I worked out a new schedule with him and he installed my Windows two days later and will do my siding in two weeks. He fell behind while in NC and I could understand that. He understood My frustration and we are back on track. It's the Lowe's Installation office who never really communicated with me And it's their customer service that's a problem. read more

He acted as though he could not be bothered to help me, dismissed my questions with eye rolls and when I asked about the long delivery dates.. He's said "well.. Take it or leave it. We have a lot of customers". I swore I would never buy from Lowe's again.. Until my washer broke..
