I just submitted this to the Lowe's survey but I wanted to also share with everyone. I also come from a retail management background and was fortunate to work for a fortune 100 company. I feel like companies that might not be considered that same caliber get beat up so I wanted to acknowledge what happened to us today. As customers we can come into a store with a chip on our shoulder already and we take it out on the staff. I remember the times I was on their side and had to descalate a customer issue. And I'm not saying that staff are perfect, or don't give attitude to customers, because it happens. When I am in those situations where I see how hard they are working to help the customer I choose gratitude and acknowledge that I appreciate them. A little kindness goes a long way. We stopped by around 2p and again at 4p: While, unfortunately, we had to cancel one of pick up items I want to express how amazing our experience was. The 1st visit was to discuss a replacement for the batteries. And the CS staff was awesome, while still being short staffed. The manager who worked with us after to see if we could get a replacement was also so nice. Unfortunately, the other pick up item, a tool chest, was dented when we got home so I immediately turned around and did an exchange and again the team at CS and pick up were incredible. During the holidays customers, I know, can be extra demanding and when you're short staffed it can affect morale but each person I engaged with went above and beyond and for that we are appreciative! read more

Waited over 39 minutes in the wood cutting area at 1 PM on a Saturday with zero assistance. Multiple employees walked by, and the customer ahead of me pressed the help button at least five times--no response. If the store advertises wood cutting, someone should actually be available to do it. Otherwise, don't waste customers' time with a help button that clearly does nothing. Went to Lowe's on Rainier in Seattle today to buy packing supplies and had a genuinely terrible experience. A lot of basic items I needed were out of stock, but the bigger issue I had was the complete lack of customer service. While shopping in the window shade section, I saw an older man sitting there and initially thought he was an employee, so I asked for help. He laughed and looked at me and said he was another customer who had been sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for assistance; after repeatedly pressing the button to summon an employee...WOW As I walked away, I noticed several employees standing around talking and joking instead of helping customers. I specifically told them that there was a customer waiting for assistance in that department (sorry to be a Karen but jeez). Their response was essentially "OK", and they continued their conversation. Checkout was no better. I stood in line for around 10 minutes because there was only one cashier working the register, with the remaining checkouts being self-checkout. Meanwhile, there were multiple employees standing at the returns and support desks with no lines at all.... Very strange store. Plenty of staff were physically present, but apparently not where it actually mattered. On the bright side, there's an excellent hot dog stand out front, which made dealing with the terrible customer service a heck of a lot easier. Still, 1 star. read more

I ordered two 20' vinyl sheets online for delivery. It was supposed to be cut to length. Instead they delivered one 40' vinyl sheet. When I tried to tell the delivery person, he said "if you have a problem call Lowe's. He didn't care! When I called Lowe's, they transferred me over and over - four times. Each time I had to repeat myself about the issue. The fourth guy told me sorry! We fucked up but there's nothing I can do for you. They can replace it within a week! I needed it today. Went in to purchase a Toro battery powered trimmer $259. The clerk offered $50 off if I applied for the store card, plus a lot of other benefits they said. This took time and finally she asks for my email address, which I gave to her. Then she said, you are being sent a verification code, please tell it to me. I do not have email on my phone. I have it on my computer at home. Now, there was no other way to do this, she says, so all this time wasted and the final amount with taxes=$285 ----Do Better, Lowes. My dad was there at 11:20 AM today to purchase something. He was waiting in line to pay. There is an African American cashier (Ravi is his name) at the Pro Desk. When it was my dad's turn, he steps forward but he refused to reserve him. Instead there is an American stands right behind my dad, Ravi asked that American to check out first although my dad was in front that American. I need an explanation of Ravi's action from Lowe's. Ravi is basically played a discrimination against my dad. My tenant takes the day off of work to be there. Then finds out later the day of the install that the dishwasher isn't in stock and will be 7-10 days. *Do not use Lowes.com same day delivery* I was looking to buy a couple of battery powered yard tools, and I've been avoiding Home Depot so I decided to give Lowes the business. Not surprisingly, Lowes sometimes outsources the same day delivery to a third party, but there's no reference to this on their website. The delivery driver swung by and delivered only one of the two items I had ordered. I called Lowes customer support 4 times, and they kept stating that they were going to send out the missing item. After a few escalations, I was eventually directed to this store, which is where the delivery was sent from. Showing evidence that only one of the two items were delivered, the Store Manager informed me that they had opened up a claim with the delivery company showing that both items were picked up from the store, but only one item was delivered. The third party delivery company denied the claim, and the Lowes Store Manager at Ranier informed me that I would need to take it up with the third party delivery company, despite the fact that my order and delivery fees were all collected by Lowes and I had no way of knowing that they were going to outsource the delivery to a third party. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company, and thank goodness they actually have great customer service. I'll never buy from Lowes again. read more

It was only thanks to the assistance of one of this store's employees, Jose Martinez, that we were able to get thru a nightmare online purchasing experience that we did not create or deserved. Until Lowes.com gets someone like the local store's employee whose commitment to assist us and stay with us thru this nightmare was exceptional (Jose Martinez) to oversee all of their customer support - stay away from purchasing anything online at lowes.com, and ONLY do purchases onsite at the LOCAL store. read more

I purchased a new Washer & Dryer which took 1 month to receive. Lowe's staff never set it up (though I paid for this service). When I had my contractor hook it up, the washer came damaged! This happened on Christmas 2024 weekend. When I contacted them, we were out of the 48 hr return policy. Electrolux had even worst service as they sent a tech out and it took them over 1 month to replace the broken tub (which holds the spinner to the washer). Never going with either of these vendors ever again. The broken tub is 9 INCHES in diameter. Horrible customer service from both organizations. I have learned my lesson. read more

The following is an account of an incident prior to me leaving Lowes. I worked at Lowes store 0285 an had been there a few years prior to this event. We had a new hire in my department his name was Sam. Everything was fine for the first few weeks but then his attitude began to change, he neglected some of his responsibilities and would make rude comments to me. I talked to my department manager Scott and he suggested I ignore his comments and focus on my own tasks. I avoided the new hire as best I could but was difficult as we worked in the same department. One day he walked up to me and just began telling me he was not happy with my attitude and if I wasn't careful, he was going to knock my light out. I found this to be a serious comment and one that shouldn't be ignored. I sent an email to my store manager Jason Schiefelbien and one to Scott detailing the incident. I did a follow-up with my department manager Scott and asked if he had a chance to talk with Sam. Scott assured he would have a chat with Sam. A few days later I again asked how the chat with Sam went and Scott said he didn't get the chance. To say I was disappointed with Scott was an understatement considering the nature of the request for him to have conversation with Sam. I also noticed I hadn't heard from Jason which was odd because I had never had a problem with prior email exchanges. I made it a point to ask Scott on a daily basis about having a conversation with Sam. I believe Scott realized I was not going to stop asking until he had a conversation with Sam. I Also felt more comfortable speaking to Scott directly as we often worked together. I want to make it clear that I have never had a problem sending emails or getting a response from either of these two people on any other issue. A few days later I notice Sam's attitude was more pleasant, but this would be short lived. Sam went back to his same negative attitude and insults. I let Scott know that Sam's attitude was still a problem. Scott again told me to just focus on my own tasks. A few days later Sam again threatened me with physical violence. Again I sent an email to Scott. I also sent an email to Jason Schiefelbien letting him know this was a second encounter with Sam. Again, Scott just said to focus on my own tasks and avoid Sam. There was an opening in another department, and I asked to work in this different department. A few months later Sam left Lowes after putting in his two-week notice. I never heard from Jason regarding this issue. After Sam was no longer working at Lowes I found myself in a conversation with another employee about Sam. This employee disclosed to me that Sam had punched him on more than one occasion and one time in the presence of a department manager. I asked him when this first happened, and his first incident was after Sam first threatened me. I feel this was completely avoidable. I no longer work at Lowes and don't have to consider retaliation or any form of punishment for speaking out. I realize there is a policy against this, but I have also seen store policy ignored. read more

Today, I was a target of discrimination at Lowe's. I had a shopping list in my hand and an eager customer waiting for delivery. It was an early morning, most of the store was vacant. I walked the aisles and browsed the shelves. As I began searching for items off my list, an employee walked down my aisle to where I was standing. Barely three feet between us, he stood there in silence... watching me, as I perused the shelves. His stare was blatant; no room for subtlety. Not five minutes had passed, when soon came along a second employee, who joined him in pursuit of me. As I scoured for an item too difficult to find, I heard the sound of wheels rolling from behind me. When I turned around, my cart was not where it used to be. They'd taken the liberty to move my cart to the end of the aisle without asking me. Bothered by this encounter, I strolled my cart a few aisles away to recompose myself and gather what had transpired. Maybe, just a product of my imagination today... With one item left to collect on my list, I gathered my strength and headed for the front of the store. Along the way, I passed the aisle I'd originally came from. The two employees who were busy straightening the shelves were no longer there. The aisle was barren, just like it was when I first arrived. As I headed for the final department, I heard footsteps galloped from behind me. When I entered the floor, I spotted my aisle and walked down the lane. The employee, whose footsteps could be heard from within a vacuum, followed me into the aisle. As I scanned the shelves looking for the last item on my list, I felt an eerie sensation crawl on the vertebrae of my spine. When I turned around to see who was watching me, the employee turned his head away. Readjusting his gloves, he pretended that all was okay. But, it wasn't. It was evidentiary that Lowe's employees were following me around. For what reason? Throughout my whole shopping experience, out of three employees who were in pursuit of me, not one of them smiled or greeted me "hello", nor asked if they could provide me with customer care. They were white, I was not. To them, I was less than human. Perhaps it was the color of my skin. I happen to be a person of Asian descent. Or, perhaps it was because I was on duty as an Instacart shopper. Either way, they profiled me. The moment I walked into their sliding doors, I fit their bill of a suspecting thief. As a result, it gave them permission to use discrimination as a vehicle to intimidate me and annihilate every fiber of my being. The store's macro aggression to crackdown on theft has failed. In doing so, they successfully destroyed my shopping experience. Because of what happened today, I was unable to fulfill the order for the customer. It was never delivered to their doorstep. Somewhere in Seattle, there is a suburban housewife still waiting for her order to arrive. For her, cleaning day never commenced. What I know for sure is: when employees behave badly, it's because management has allowed for it to happen. Thanks to the manager and those three employees, I know what it feels like to be a person of color shopping in the 50s. I hear that retro is in. Heed my warning as cautionary it may be: If you happen to be Asian or shop for Instacart, you have been warned. They may target you as they did with me. read more

He wouldn't let me finish my question initially and then told me to look and read the label with my eyes. I purchased a water heater online from this location to be delivered on Thursday. It was scheduled with delivery company and I waited all day. No show, no call. The shipper said the store cancelled my order. WHAT? I went to the store at 6 am Friday to check that the heater was ready to go. It was fine so I went home to await delivery. They damaged it loading it, because it had a big dent in the side coming off the truck, so I sent it back. I called the store Friday to see what they are going to do and JASON, the manager, said he would call back. NO CALL. I called Saturday, and disconnected. Monday call was disconnected. I called customer care and they won't do anything since I didn't purchase their items, I cancelled the order due to damage. I guess they will be out of business in a few years as they have sent me 4 damaged water heaters in a week. And I watched the forklift operators smash various things as they unloaded other items. They can't get stuff off a truck and into the stores. It was like watching keystone cops, especially cleaning the spilled cement by using an air hose to spread the dust over the entry area with customers entering and exiting through the cloud. read more

I went into Lowe's for their Labor Day sale looking for a full set of appliances for my home. It was the last day of the sale so the store was understandably busy, which makes me even more amazed at the time and care the assistant manager Kris took in helping me and my husband. There were some challenges in getting the correct promotions to show up at the cash register and Kris really went above and beyond in making sure we left the store as happy customers. So we purchased a Oklahoma joes grill. A $500 dollar item which came with FREE asemble. How awesome I thought and gladly picked that option. Well lesson learned. Their "professionally asembly" workers are literally probably teens. Before the item was put in our truck with 3 employees the legs fell off. Okay got $100 bucks off. Thank you for that. My husband got 1 mile down the road and heard a bang! The bottom of the smoker detached and fell off! He gets it home, and we off load the whole thing is wabbley. - Employees need training- I rarely come here for anything, but we were having lunch in international district so i was like why not? I placed an order to be picked up, and in a few hours it was ready to be picked up. However, when I went to the pick-up area, the employees look reluctant to help me. The woman I talked to also had no clue what's going on and asked a more senior person for help. Overall the process is long when the pickup process should be simple and takes like 2 minutes. These people are super slow and lack of training, I'm not sure what Lowe's have been doing with them.. Btw, the bag of sand that I ordered had a hole on the top and the bottom of the bag, so it left a mess in my car. I contacted customer rep and they just apologized and informed this branch. No compensation or cleaning fee for the car, nothing. It was probably one of the worst customer service out there and I will refrain from going to Lowe's again. The crew that delivered it were amazing - it was a bit stressful at first but we worked it all out. Great selection of plants this year - so many choices at a good price.
