Job got done as planned. The price was right. We had a little back and forth with start date (our issue) and then finish date (landscapers issue). The only suggestion I would make is to ask what is included and do your own research on what you want included. We assumed a weed barrier would be included when installing rock but it was not made aware until install. Luckily we were able to install it ourselves but it's a question we should've asked or BEEN asked when we were given the estimate. I hate to leave such a negative review because he seemed so nice and to care about his work... but after living with the work he has done for a few months I have realized how many shortcuts were taken. I paid $8,500 and to my regret, gave final payment before the work was complete. I was shorted areas of pebble and additional plants that never went in, no weed matting placed underneath the new areas of pebble (so now weeds are growing rampant), full cleaning of the oleanders in my front was promised in and around the base was never provided, benches were to be built that were never built (and no credit given), the irrigation system he replaced is already failing and plants are dying left and right now. during the process he was consistently late and over promised. never a consistent schedule and would show up at random hours and days which affects privacy/security. all in all i feel ripped off and now have brought in yet another landscaper to pay 8k to fix all of his work. I am considering bring him to court sadly. Jesus your reply is incorrect. When we did the walk I specifically asked for these thing and also have it in text format several times asking for these things. Please do not be dishonest. Not only one of the nicest contractors I've ever interacted with, but probably one of the nicest people I've ever met in general. Jesus gave us a great quote and stuck to the budget when specifics of the project changed. As a matter of fact, when Jesus was able to get a deal on certain materials, he offered to throw in some potted plants to make up the difference instead of pocketing some extra cash, which he very well could have done. I don't think most contractors would do that for you. My wife and I are extremely excited about our backyard. It looks beautiful, was done professionally and timely, and was installed to last. Jesus was integral in finalizing ideas for design, drainage, irrigation, and helping us to select plants, pavers, and windsor blocks. He even suggested that he would custom cut a different brand of stone to create our beautiful wall caps, instead of using the brand-matching ugly wall caps the windsor blocks were designed to use. So, I sent him a text and he said he had an emergency. Ok, understand. Rescheduled it for Wednesday assuming it was arrival time the same. It's 810am, still no Jesus. Sent a text message, no reply. He meticulously cleared away all the weeds and left behind the very small shrub seedlings that were the result of seeds falling over the wall from our neighbor's butterfly bush. I needed a service to install pavers in my backyard, and Jesus went above and beyond that! Jesus replies very promptly and is easy to communicate with. During the initial planning stages, Jesus was very accommodating to my schedule according to when I was available, and was able to start working the day after. Jesus informed me of all the necessary materials needed to finish the product, which was something that I greatly appreciated because I would hear very polarizing input from employees at other big name companies. Once all necessary materials were gathered, Jesus was able to get to work right away. The quality and speed of their work was excellent! Jesus and his partner, Raymond, had a great system going on. Everything was executed so well; from having all pavers leveled (with a slight pitch for rain to run off into the rock part of my backyard), precise cuts for the pavers, and working around the concrete slabs that were installed by the previous owners of the house. The measurements of the pavers were so precise, I don't feel the slightest shift of the pavers moving around on them. Jesus even offered to remove some vegetation that could have potentially damaged the pavers in the long term. I would like to add that I have two AC units in the back separated by a small gate, and Jesus offered to use the extra concrete sand and Type II to fill the uncovered area to provide a little uniformity to the yard. Given the scope of the job, I could have been charged an arm and a leg. Jesus provided an extremely reasonable price. My favorite part about working with Jesus is that you're treated like family. You can sit down with Jesus, have a meal, and develop a lot of rapport and a deeper relationship that goes beyond a company and their clients. Jesus took thousands of dollars and stopped showing up. At one point he even asked for more money! I contacted the contractors board and it turns out he's unlicensed and was already on the boards radar. The board has recommended criminal charges against Jesus to the DA. At first, Jesus is very friendly and seems to know what he is doing. Unfortunately he proved that untrue. I had to pay another company to fix what little work was done. Jesus rarely was at our house and always had an excuse as to why nothing was getting completed and why he was never at our house when he said he would be. He sent two guys over who barely knew what they were doing. At one point one guy asked me what he should be doing today. They would pretend to work or sit in their car all day. Jesus would claim he was at our house working however our security cameras would show otherwise. This job was clearly over his head and he took our money and spent it elsewhere. Jesus did agree to give us half our money back but unfortunately Jesus intentionally wrote us a bad check. This week we also contacted the district attorneys fraudulent check department. If you do decide to hire him beware and don't give him any money upfront. read more
