Rocky Run park is a great spot for all age groups and is very spread out so it never seems too…read morecrowded. Located in North Arlington, parking is on the street and can be tricky to find. There are several different areas of the park including two playgrounds. The big kid area has a large ropes course and tunnel slide (which was barricaded off at this time. The little kid area has some digging areas, musical elements, but very simplistic features. There are a few songs too. Bathrooms are available between the two playgrounds. In the lower part of the park is a gigantic turf field. You can play soccer, hockey , or just sit out in the sun. There are two sets of basketball courts one of which has a volleyball net too. There are some tables around for seating and there is a great track around the turf for bike riding. We definitely plan to return again soon!

The sandbox was always clean as were the restrooms. There's a fun nature trail too. I have many fond memories of supervising playmates building houses with sticks and branches while chatting with mom friends. There's a beautiful nature trial where my children and I would take long walks together.

Where I am from most playgrounds do not have sandboxes but in this area, it's hard to visit a park without one. Since the park is small, it gets crowded. We ended up leaving after about 90 minutes because it was getting harder to socially distance. There is a jungle gym for little kiddos near the sandbox and on the other side, one for bigger kids. I love that it is all mulch which makes it a softer blow on falls. The equipment seems older here, but no kids I know would care about that. There are bathrooms as well as picnic tables, a large grass field, and basketball courts. Parking is on-street and can be tricky. We both enjoyed Lacey Woods and will add it to our park rotation.

The entire kids playground area is fenced in, they have public bathrooms right next to it (currently closed for the winter), there is a sheltered eating area, basketball court, and soccer field next to it. And did I mention how awesome the playground itself is?? There is also a small dedicated parking strip as well as street parking through the neighborhood. The play structures are made to look like wooden treehouses, and even have little hidden creatures carved into the trees (which were super fun for my daughter to try and identify.) there's a "big kid" structure and a little kid one -- although the slide on the little kid one is still really fast! Fair warning, haha. I like that once the kids get up towards the top of the big kid slide it's completely enclosed by netting, although the level underneath has a lot of places where smaller babes could fall off, so just keep an eye on your littler climbers. There is one of those netted rope tire swings as well as a couple of baby swings, a double-seated see-saw, and an natural play space area with branches and sawed logs and stuff where kids can build and get creative. The park features a basketball court, a picnic shelter, a playground, and picnic tables. It seems a little out dated and trashy. You will find 2 fenced in playgrounds areas here. The larger playground area, which is designed for older kids, has has a large jungle gym with a rock climbing structure, monkey rings, slides, bridges, tunnels and canopies. There is also a bank of traditional/ADA swings here. The area is lined with wood chips, with a rubber mat path going down the center. The other playground area, which is designed for pre-schoolers, has a small jungle gym with a rock climbing wall, a small canopy, a small rock climbing wall and a couple of slides. It seems much older and worn than the one on the other side. There is also a small blue wooden house, a mock pirate ship, a rocker animal and a few plastic tables and cars that you would get from a department store in this section as well. The area is lined with rubber matting and sand. It was not my favorite area to say the least. In between the two fenced playground areas, you will find a few benches to sit. The picnic shelter has a bunch of picnic tables under it and is in decent shape. The basketball court is a full court and is in fair shape. The park has a fair amount of green space to play, but the grass does have a large bald spot in the front that is just dirt and a few patches near the basketball court. The back side of the park, across the walkway, is where you will find some picnic tables and grills in a shaded area. This park needs a little TLC and updates to get it back up to speed. It is a fair park and would be an ok place to pass time if you are in the area. It would not be my go-to or destination park though. It does have a lot of potential though and I hope that it makes the needed modifications to reach that potential.

The 2-5 area is just a smaller version of the 5-12 area. It's a tree-themed park so the slides are made to look like hollowed out trees. The steps for the older area lead to a hollowed out cubby tree then up to the big slide. There are a couple grills here and a cement path around the perimeter for riding bikes, scooters, etc. parking is on the street and supposedly pay parking, but you can easily see your car from the park so you may want to take that risk. Currently there is only one big kid swing and no baby swing. The park is fenced in which is nice. I like the fake grass padding all around the play areas. This is not a destination park but if you're nearby, check it out.

There's plenty of metered parking on the street.
