For months now I've been searching for a new sleep specialist, and after visiting several so called…read moresleep specialists I was about to give up. I told my primary care physician about all the trouble I was having when going to see these so called sleep specialists and she recommended that she refer me to Charleston Pulmonary. After a couple of days Charleston Pulmonary contacted me about an appointment, which was easy to get a date that was convenient for me. I did visit the office prior to the appointment to sign consent for them to get my medical records before my visit. The staff did all the "leg work" getting my records for me. When the day came for my appointment I arrived and was greeted upon walking in. I had to fill out some more paperwork; which is the worst part of visiting a doctor these days. After filling out my paperwork I was swept to the back to a room where I'd wait for the doctor. After sitting down I figured I'd be waiting a while so I pulled out my phone and started playing a game; but before the game could load the doctor was in there. First time I've had a doctor see me on time. Doctor Gunn was friendly and straightforward. He already had all my information and was well informed about my current treatment and made some recommendations to improve my treatment. Overall a great visit.

I was recently referred to Dr Holdgate. I saw him 3 times. On my first visit he did have extensive…read moreblood work done. I appreciate that. But from that point forward it was nothing but being dismissed and not taken seriously. I have already been diagnosed with autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's, carpal tunnel syndrome, mixed connective tissue, undifferentiated, fibromyalgia and experiencing overlap symptoms of a few other autoimmune conditions. I have been on Plaquenil for a couple years now. It helped with the swelling and pain in my hand joints. I have several rashes on my skin with intense itching, also livedo reticularis for at least 3 yrs and never investigate for its source in my vascular system. including break out in hives several times, extremely severe dry eyes, mouth, now throat and nose, too, with more trouble swallowing things like crackers or bread without water to help me swallow it. Sometimes it feels like food is stuck in the back of my throat and I can barely get it down without huge swallows of water and felt like I was going to choke. I have had thousands of dollars of dental work/surgeries done related to the dry mouth and in need of more which I cannot afford. I have trouble swallowing, numbness in both feet for a few years now, weakness in hands and legs, intense sensitivity to heat with hyperhidrosis of the face and scalp, receiving botox injections twice a year in my scalp for that, and I could go on and on. I currently have no idea of what all damage is going on in major organ systems in my body, which I know are progressing and receiving no treatment for it. I have done my homework on all of this and no that there could be serious damage happening that will not be able to reverse or treat.. This all has been going on for 5 yrs and getting worse. I have had several biopsies of my skin for different conditions related to autoimmune and just in the past 2 weeks diagnosed with small nerve fiber neuropathy, which is another autoimmune disease. I am very certain that I also have Sjogren's. Saw him again the other day and he says there are "no more tests to run on me and that I do not have autoimmune disease!!" I was furious of the degree of dismissal by him. I am now diagnosed with ptosis of my eyes and having increased pressure, ocular hypertension in my eyes with blurry vision and was seen by my eye doctor that same afternoon with an extensive eye exam. The opthalmologist now is referring to a neuro-opthalmologist because of his findings. After all of this I stopped by my PCP office to let him know what was going on and my BP was 154/103 a reading I have never had that high before and I know it was due to being so upset from visit with Holdgate. Then Dr Holdgate wrote notes to my other doctors and told them that I did not comply with 2 other tests suggested. In fact, it was my PCP who ordered a PET scan which was done and also to see an Orthapedist, which I did and he injected the bursa in my left hip. Dr Holdgate falsely reported that I didn't follow through on these orders and it was a total LIE. My PCP knows this, he ordered them and got the reports. I will never go back to Dr Holdgate again and I wrote to him about the false reports he put in my chart and shared with other doctors. I DEMANAD that he correct those records and admit he didn't tell the truth about me and was attempting to sway other doctors about my credibility as a patient. I truly resent that. I won't hold my breath for an apology or even a correction. I will never go see this man again. For whatever reason he had a wrong impression and attitude towards me and it showed. There is no reason for this. I would like to see one of the other doctors in this practice as they have several rheumatologists there, but I doubt seriously I would be able to since the encounter with him. He mockingly asked if I wanted a referral to Jacksonville, FL, where there is a Mayo clinic, and I said no. I just can't6 believe all this actually happened and what for? Doesn't make any sense.
