Stay away from this Lucas guy!!!! He was recommended by someone and we scheduled an appointment, they were going to send another tech but we had requested for Lucas so we had to reschedule the appointment. Appointment was scheduled between 5:15PM-7:15PM later that evening we received an update that the appointment was changed to 7:15PM-9:30PM. I automatically thought 9:30pm is too late, he is not showing up. Lucas called around 8:00pm and said he had to charge us for the estimate that he was not going to make the drive to our city for free. Then he went on and cursed out the person that referred him to us and hung up. On a positive note I feel grateful he did not set foot into my home. read more

In February, my A/C drain line clogged, causing water to back up into my downstairs condo. I called this company to clear the clog, but what should have been a simple repair turned into months of frustration. During the first visit, Lucas claimed my outdoor unit wasn't working, even though it had been working that morning. He insisted on replacing the motor because it was under warranty, and I trusted his recommendation since I'd used this company before. The very next day, the drain backed up again. The clog was ultimately resolved, but after the motor replacement, my outdoor unit became extremely loud, shaking, and rumbling outside my bedroom window. Lucas and his crew came out multiple times but were never able to fix the problem. I was repeatedly told, "At least you're cooling." In early June, Lucas told me replacement parts had been ordered and that I was on the schedule for repairs. He never showed up, never called, and then stopped responding to my messages altogether. I eventually had to hire another A/C company to repair the issues this company created. I was also warned that the excessive vibration could damage the coils and lead to much more expensive repairs. What started as a simple drain line clog ended up costing me far more time, money, and stress than it should have. I cannot recommend this company. read more

I hired this company to install a brand-new HVAC system with three components: a main unit, a smaller unit, and a mini split for the sunroom. From installation, the main unit had ongoing water issues. I called for service on this new system more than I ever did with my old one. I was also sold a maintenance plan that I believed would prevent issues, but I was repeatedly charged for repairs and the underlying problem was never resolved. The first leak came down my hallway wall and I was told the drip pan was fixed. Later, water leaked from the door panel toward the bathroom. A technician came on Wednesday for routine maintenance. The next day the house stopped cooling. On Friday he said the coil was "busted." The coil was under warranty for $45, but I was quoted $2,500 for labor. The owner later offered $2,010 and claimed another company quoted $3,800 to make it sound like a deal. I told them I needed time and informed them Saturday I would hold off. On Sunday, part of my ceiling collapsed due to accumulated water. During the Wednesday maintenance visit, the technician saw water but did not vacuum or remove it. The owner later said, "Why would he vacuum it if you were getting the coil done?" which makes no sense during routine maintenance on equipment they installed and maintain. When I asked why this issue continued since installation, I never got an explanation. Instead, the owner sent a profanity-filled text accusing me of trying to get something for free and saying it was in my "DNA." As an African American customer, I found the "DNA" remark discriminatory and offensive. For the record, I paid exactly as agreed. They accepted partial cash with the understanding that I was waiting on my HELOC closing and I paid the remaining balance in full afterward. I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about my experience with Lucas Air. I noticed an A/C issue on a Sunday morning and called Lucas Air for emergency service. I was aware of the callout fee and happy to pay it. The technician arrived promptly and diagnosed a Freon leak based on low pressure and the system being half full -- fair enough so far. I chose one of the recommended options: a leak stop with UV dye to locate the leak, plus a system refill. Total cost was $1,300, discounted to $1,000 for cash. However, I watched the technician fill the system with Freon without visibly adding any leak stop. When I questioned this, he claimed it was already mixed into the Freon. He declared the pressure was holding and the job was done, and mentioned they'd return in 30 days for a courtesy check. The A/C worked that night. I left for a six-day trip the next day and monitored the system remotely -- it ran less than three hours total before failing completely. That's not a small leak. When Lucas Air returned, the technician struggled to locate the leak that the UV dye should have clearly marked. He also bent and damaged the outer cage rather than properly disassembling the unit -- something he had avoided doing the first visit. He identified the need for a new coil, which I declined given my experience. Before leaving, he attempted to charge me another service call fee, claiming it was a "new diagnosis." It was the same issue he failed to properly investigate the first time. A second A/C company later confirmed that no leak stop had been injected and no UV dye was present at the leak point -- exactly what I had suspected. I paid $1,000 for a repair that was never completed as described. I'd strongly encourage others to look elsewhere. read more

our family AC unit stopped working suddenly last weekend and I didn't think I'd find anyone on a Saturday night to come out but I got lucky with Lucas air. they sent a technician out within 45 minutes and were able to fix our AC. DO NOT CHOOSE this company. In August they installed a mini split to my place. It supposed to clim and heat...but not heat at all. The company installed something that they take in Hialeah. The machine was not registered to my name to the minisplit company. It's a complete scam. Now that I'm trying to contact Lucas or his company, I'm blocked. We are so thrilled with this company. We had a huge problem with the existing ductwork in this house. They came out and identified the problem immediately. Within two days we were on the schedule to have our ductwork replaced. (Which we already knew we needed) They are professional, neat, kind and very knowledgeable. They are reasonably priced.
