Good location and not too noisy. Food was good and they do some very good specials and recommendations for wine. Don't show up before your reservation time slot because if you do you have to sit outside or in the entrance to wait .... Even if the tables are empty. A bar section would be nicer to wait at but they don't have that. read more

I booked a table for my birthday. I received a call two days before our reservation confirming our table, and the lady on the phone confirmed that she had given me the window seat. I arrived early with my family. The woman informed me that I would not be seated at the window table as she had confirmed. Then, told me I would have to wait for 20 minutes (the restaurant had just opened and was empty). She said she had received other reservations after mine and she gave the table at the window to someone else. We did not stay. Please be careful when reserving for this restaurant. I have heard many others complain of being treated poorly at this restaurant. Now I know why. Terrible thing to do to someone on their birthday. read more

Came to Lucca's for my birthday with my wife and best friend, and it was an outstanding experience. We didn't have a reservation, but they fit us in after a short wait--giving us time to enjoy a few drinks at the wine bar. Once seated, the service was top-notch, and the food was incredible. I had the prime rib special, and it was superb. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, with plenty of space to enjoy dinner. The historic photos on the walls add a nice touch. Would definitely suggest a reservation because the food is really good. Lasagna says on the menu that it's the best and quite honestly it ain't bragging if you can do it - it really is that good. Our server made my night! She made one of the BEST Italian cream sodas that I have ever had! The atmosphere of the restaurant is great for meeting up with friends for a nice meal out or for a date. The food myself and my coworker ordered was over peppered and took away from the natural flavor of what the dish could have been. I love pepper, but this was next level. Does this place have all these good reviews because it's Helena? It's not that special. The service was good. But it did take forever to get our food. Maybe it's for the ambiance? Seems crowded to me We tried the calamari. The taste was ok, simple Italian breadcrumbs? They need to be a little more crispy for my liking. They came with a weird whipped something with a hint of curry. The salad was simply amazing. I ate most of it myself. The bread was good but cold. I mean ice cold. Serve that warm please. Came with a butter at was amazing and a balsamic dipping sauce that for some reason I loved the odd taste. My wife had the steak and said it was cooked perfectly but had no seasoning. Not a hint of salt? I had the shrimp and scallop pasta. Ok, who doesn't sear both sides of yhe scallops? They do. The dish was good. Seasoning on the shrimp and scallops was great. Pasta sauce was good. Overall I'm not impressed. Maybe I'm missing something here. Fancy names on average plates? Overpriced olive garden? Nearly everyone I had met in Helena had recommended Luccas so we were very excited for this highly anticipated meal, especially since we decided last minute to call and see if they had reservations for two available on a Friday at 8:15 PM (they did!) [Star1] Food quality? Solid Italian food. Loved the ciabatta bread they had to start with some garlic butter spread? That was killer especially when dipped in the steamed pesto mussels, an extremely flavorful dish. Loved how forward the pesto was. In terms of entrees, we were hoping to try the crab cavatelli but that was sadly all out by the time we got seated. Instead we shared the lasagna and shrimp fra diavolo. Loved the mushroom in the lasagna. The pasta we ordered spicy and that helped cut the creaminess of the pasta. For dessert we ordered tiramisu and some brownie. Tiramisu was too thick/cakey for me but the brownie with ice cream from Big Dipper's next door was delicious. Star here. [Star2] Price Point? Prices are pretty standard compared to other Italian restaurants I've been to but I will say that Lucca's does not skimp out on the portions. Star here. [Star3] Service? This place deserves and extra star!! The service and food would rival any 5 star restaurant in Washington DC!! We had a nice leisurely 2 1/2 hour dinner with the family while we're visiting in town. We enjoy trying new restaurants/cafes, but some places just keep calling you back. Lucca's is the one that whispers the loudest in my ears. I am happy to report the food and service have remained outstanding and the whispers are well worth paying attention to. The Shrimp Fra Diavolo I had is as good as it has been the last ten years. This place is a great example of how restaurants need to deal with inflation and rising labor costs. Maintain quality and raise prices as needed. Let the customer decide if it is worth the price of the meal. Lucca's does it as well as anyone. read more

So me and my coworker were in town on a business trip. It all starts with sitting at Rialto for a few drinks when Tina came over to pick up drinks and I randomly asked her (knowing it was booked all night and only take reservations) if they could get us in. She gladly said if we waited 15 min we could get on the countertop. Hearing about the place, it was an offer we couldn't deny. We were seated, greeted and served by Carolann. Such an amazing turn over, service, ambiance, and hospitality. And the FOOD !!!!!!! It was by far the best I have had. This is a must go spot when in Helena. Lucca's is our favorite Italian restaurant in Helena. The service is always on point and the food is fantastic. Each meal will come with the day's special salad and bread board - especially with a pasta or Main with protein. Our go-to's are typically the calamari to start, which comes with this insanely flavorful lemon curry cream; this time around I went for the walleye filet and my husband went for the Italian sausage cavatappi. Hands down the best, most consistent, friendly, professional and delicious fare anywhere in Helena. I don't know how they do it- but I have never been disappointed in a meal here-and I cook almost every day. The servers are so kind, so professional without being "less than human." I love being able to watch them cook and on more than several occasions, I have taken the opportunity to say "Thank you" to everyone in the kitchen. They respond with smiles and thank you's every time. It's worth a visit and it's certainly worth the money. Be forewarned- if you order the shrimp fra diavolo spicy it will be spicy!
