This Resturant is your standard local/chain Resturant. I had the Ruben. It was fine. I wasn't like wow that was the best Ruben I've ever had. Their fries We're weird. Almost like they were cooked in the air fryer. My table had a hamburger. It was a typical burger. They were busy almost all the tables and booths were full. Well we have been here quite a few times but only now gotten around to reviewing this place. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice, they have some extra cute and large private booths, and there's lots of cool montana-y decorations. So it's kinda pricey here, nowadays that's normal, but what's really great for us is that they offer non dairy cheese, because my wife and one of my daughters can't have dairy. And the kids meals with pizza are HUGE!! Like the pizzas are very large. (See pics). We just found out on Wednesday that kids eat free with a minimum $13 purchase. Of course that's easy to do because that's less than one meal. But for two adults to eat and three kids for $40 is unheard of in todays society! And the service was great too! I had a fancy dish of ziti fettuccine with some other stuff and my wife had a non dairy pizza. And the kids had their own pizzas and fruit and all. Any other day but Wednesday it would have been a lot more money, but hey, we'll take it when we can! I recommend Mackenzie River. read more

Summary: More than pizza, MacKenzie provides a variety of sandwich, salad, appetizer, and main course options. My lunch combo--called Rod and Reel--provided a 1/2 sandwich (Reuben) and side choice. I had coleslaw. Fries and a spicy dill pickle slice were included in the meal. The Reuben was terrific. The coleslaw was a bit dry. The pickle had a surprising hit of chili pepper after the dill taste. The fries, dusted with seasoning and cheese, were lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Super awful, bland food. Will not be going back. Pretzel breadsticks were ok. The queso dip had the wrong combination of beer & cheese. Whatever pairing they're using does not compliment each other. They don't serve the best ranch so that kind of dampened the Cobb Salad experience. Probably Sysco jar ranch. Now to the pizza: you'd be better off getting Digiorno's because that's exactly what this tasted like. Seems like they use a generic, mass-produced recipe for the dough. Sauce taste like jar sauce. Cheese was previously frozen which makes it taste bland. Sausage was too crumbly & non-existant. A slice of Costco pizza would have been 100x better. A very disappointing experience. Not worth anyone's time. Just because we live in a rural area with little options for restaurants doesn't mean you can serve us bad food like we don't know any better. Came here with my family for lunch. Ordered half Thai Pie half other kind of pizza. Also lodgpepoles. The Thai Pie was unique but it was good. It had like a curry base with oranges and chicken. It worked good together. I also liked the unique flavors paired together for the pizza. It was just different. We also had lodgepoles with marinara sauce and it was okay. It was like pizza bread with cheese. I do suggest the bread be a little bit more flavorful. Maybe adding a garlic Butter herb on it. I think the best part for me was the service and the beer! Well, I happened to show up 20 minutes later and they just pulled something out of cold storage and handed it over to me. I don't leave many reviews, but wanted to for any out of town travelers to Helena as there are not many options in town. The Restaraunt itself is very clean, very nice, seems to be well run. The employees, my waitress was awesome, great location especially for families in terms of ambience. Not great for a business eating by yourself spot, but not many are. The buffalo wings were dank, really good. Great selection of beer. No issues there. The Pizza tho. If Dave Portnoy ranked it, he would prolly give it a 3 out of ten, or worse. I hate to be mean, and I am Sicilian and I do live in an area with lots of really good pizza. However the Pizza at this place is basically a heated up digiorno's frozen pizza, at least that's how it tastes. Not horrible, but really not good. I may just be a snob being Italian and from Boston, but that's my take. Of course it's probably the best Pizza around for 200 miles so, i'll give the place a 5 star rating for ambience but a two for the pizza. They either need a new recipe for pizza or a new cook. We decided to have food delievered tonight and when it arrived it was nothing short of a mess. I ordered the buffalo mac and cheese which arrived crunchy and burnt in places with chicken so hard it resembled plastic. My son got the kids quesadilla which had the same "plastic" chicken and a tortilla so stale (yes stale, not overcooked as it was practically still white) he wouldn't eat it after the first bite. My husband's sandwich was okay but it wasn't the one he ordered so there's that. Even the tortilla chips were stale. My husband went to the restaurant to resolve things and they were confused on how we even got food because our online order was canceled?? My card was charged and I never got notice it was canceled and we got food that essentially would've been trashed at the restaurant so I dont even know how this place is running at the moment. There is an Adult in the kitchen and an Adult manager but every other worker is high school age which kind of explains the mess of things but its no excuse for the quality of food we were given. We were offered a gift card instead of a refund but we are from our of town so they offered to remake the food which my husband is still waiting for at the restaurant over 2 hours past when we were supposed to have our meal and almost my sons bed time. I live in cali but have been here three times while visiting a friend. I've tried the buffalo mack n cheese, the jalapeno popper dip, artichoke dip, bistro pizza on a flatbread, and the beet salad. Did not enjoy the popper dip. It actually tasted like pure bacon grease and the cheese was like curdled. Hard pass on that. LOOOOOVED the artichoke dip (it has pesto and I love pesto) and the beet salad. I did switch out the arugala for spring mix. It was super good with the orange balsamic, with big beet chunks and goat cheese. Service was great every time. They were there when we needed something but not overly served, which I appreciate because we were there for awhile each time. I will definitely continue to come here when I'm in town! read more

Mackenzie pizza sold out to a different owner a few years ago. The good old boy pepperoni pizza changed. It doesn't taste the same as it did years ago.
