We've been going to this lovely coffee shop since it opened. Why I've waited this long to write a review? I have no clue. My usual hot latte or cappuccino have always been fantastic and such a treat. We used to order our beans directly from Costa Rica, but ever since Luce Ave opened, this is our place to get our beans since they roast inhouse. Our favorite is their house blend, Pan Pacificopeia, but their single source Ethiopia is also good. If you don't want to go inside, they can bring your order out to your car which makes it super convenient if you have little kids or trying to social distance. It's also a plus when the business has a nice owner and kind workers. Lastly, the next time you get your coffee, try their house made chocolate chunk cookie, it's rich and delicious. read more

You know the coffee shop isn't just another cafe when they not only have Cortado but they have their own concoction/signature drinks. I ordered the Spanish Latte medium sweet. So I've tried out the other Luce Coffee near the heights area, and wanted to try this one out too! This Luce coffee shop is actually separate from the other one (aka don't buy a gift card here thinking you can use it at the other one). I came here with a friend to study and thought I'd make a review! First impression: Although smaller than the other one, this place definitely gives off the same vibe. There is limited seating though, so come early if you're trying to get a spot. Service: Servers were nice, it was pretty standard. Service wasn't AMAZING, but wasn't bad either. Food/drinks: I got the Ice Peach black tea, and I really liked it! It was very nostalgic of this candy I use to have a s a kid, so I really enjoyed the flavoring and sweetness. Alright, I have fallen in love with this coffee shop. The owner and the baristas are extremely friendly! I'm addicted to their drinks. Like legit, I am A D D I C T E D. I've sold my house...my bed..my TV....my roommate, my mom, my cat...my arms, my kidneys....for what you ask? For that GOD FORSAKEN Grapefruit Sparkling Ade. I swear to God, they put crack cocaine in there. I may be a broken man now but my God, that drink is so good. Thank you Luce Ave Coffee Roasters for putting that drink on this Earth. I've also had the Bong Bong Lucinno (also crack laced) and the seasonal Strawberry Iced tea (bet they have painkillers in this one). By the way, the baristas sometimes wear cute overalls. Those are actually handmade from Korea and for sale (around 100 dollars I think?). Consider buying one! They look and feel like they are high quality (wouldn't be surprised if it was LACED WITH COCAINE AS WELL). On the real though, I've been to a lot of coffee shops (probably around like 40 by now) around Houston and I think this one would be easily one of my top 3. It's nice and quiet here, with bright and natural lighting. But, it's not that big of a coffee shop. I did love the background music playing, which was modern, classical, upbeat at times, but nice to relax and vibe to. WiFi sucks, though. Meh. Besides that, the bar stool seating along the wall was pretty comfortable, especially for people really looking to use their laptops to study or get work done. On this visit, I ordered a vanilla latte. While it was tasty and strong, I did wish it had some latte art on it. Parking was ok since it was not peak time. They do share their parking lot with other businesses. Overall, I'd come again. Surprisingly, as I looked up at the map on their wall, they also have a Luce Ave coffee shop in Seoul, South Korea. I was in the area and had to stop by due to the reviews. It's an unassuming place. Not big and in a small shopping plaza. I'm picky with coffee and I loved their Montblanc! This is similar to a standard vanilla latte. Don't be intimidated by the charcoal in their drinks. I didn't understand it as well. It's supposedly a detox element but I barely tasted it. The coffee was smooth, no bitter taste and the perfect sweetness. I wish the coffee came in a larger size because it was that good! I have to add that they have large sized bakery goods. I mean, it's tucked in the corner of the shopping center that I NEVER walk around to. Luckily, I happened to pass by that side with a friend on our way to the movie theatre. I ordered a dark roast cafe au lait, and it was delicious. It's a cool place to study, and they keep it quiet, even when every seat is packed. There isn't a ton of seating, but there is plenty of free parking in the lot, so if you're committed I'm sure you can wait someone out for a seat. read more

Before it's mixed, you have a layer of green liquid on the bottom and coffee on top; very picture worthy. It took me till I was half way home to realize it was pandan flavored. As a Filipino, I was shooketh because I was not expecting it at all... who would've thought to do that?? Anyways, I tried the black island, which is basically the same thing, but with charcoal. It has a very similar flavor profile, but the charcoal gives the drink a bit of a gritty texture, which I found it pleasing to my palette, as it gave the drink a bit more depth. Wanted to try some local coffee shop so found this location and it was an utter disappointment. It took over 15 minutes to place the order and another 10 minutes to get the drink. So speed of service is really poor, wanted to walk out couple of times but wanted to give them a chance. Ordered a Mont Blanc which came out to $7 when you are charging for 12oz coffee this much it might be better be good but it was below par coffee and couldnt taste any flavors listed. People often credit other cities for their coffee shops but Houston has plenty of great ones, including Luce. I like their Earl Grey latte the best. The prices here aren't cheap ($6.14 with $1 tip, which is more expensive than some grande sized drinks at Starbucks) but once in a while a treat is needed, and supporting local businesses never goes unappreciated. Their Earl Grey latte is smooth, has great flavor without being overpowering, comes iced or hot, and the milk can be customized. Absolutely love Luce and my whole experience! The staff's friendliness and enthusiasm are contagious. It's obvious they love their jobs and service. Service was so great that they offered to remake my drink if it didn't turn out the way I wanted! (This comment impressed me a lot.) The overall ambiance was also clean and liked how there was a world map showing the different locations of coffee. I was recommended the Creamericano with 50% sugar, being told it was a popular drink, and it was just perfect. It was a bit sweet, but not to the point to where it overtook the coffee flavor. This drink is definitely one of my favorites in Houston to be honest. I'm very thankful that I asked for recs before ordering today! Only docked a star because wifi was not 100% reliable. It worked for only half the sites I visited. If I ever went to my college page for example or other miscellaneous sites, they wouldn't connect. I'm not sure why this was the case, but it was harder for me to do work I needed. Awesome coffee spot! Went here to study with a friend. While this is a smaller shop, we still found adequate space with outlets. The matcha latte I had with almond milk was delicious - a good balance of matcha flavor and subtle sweetness. Their cold brew bottles that I bought to-go were even better! They make them in-house! The Luce Creamy was "the best cold brew coffee ever" (per my brother), and the Luce Black was strong enough to keep me awake during my night shift at work. I got the caramel macchiato, which is made Starbucks-style (essentially an upside-down latte with additional foam). Great caramel flavor with some extra notes I can't quite place. I liked the simplicity, cleanliness, and vibe of this place. From the pictures you can see that they have several small tables that are designed to seat two people, only work that way when both aren't occupying the table space (so don't try to fit two people studying w/ a book or laptop on one of the small tables here) The bar table however is a great height to stand or sit and do work on. The outlets are here too, though I believe there are more along the wall where some of the small tables line up. The baristas have a very homey and welcoming vibe as well. I also like how it wasn't extremely busy here too. Wifi was also good. I ordered a (dirty) Chai latte as I do with all coffeeshops and I have to say, this is the best I've had in HTX. I felt as though it had a perfect amount of spice to it, and it made me wish I had 2 or more cups of it. One thing I wish they'd have is a water dispenser that we could manually get water from instead of asking them for a cup. I also got the red velvet dessert and found it comparable to something you'd find at your local grocery store. I highly doubt they made the cake in house so if they're buying it externally.... well, I don't know. It was specifically the high concentration of what seemed like just cream cheese that was offputting, giving the cake a very manufactured after-taste that did not sit well with me. I honestly would recommend them taking it off the shelf despite how pretty it looks. In any case, I'm definitely going to try their other desserts, and ask them specifically if there is one they make in-house. I vaguely remember cookies being made?
