Came in last night and it probably will be my last time. Such a shame because the food is excellent but the service was absolutely atrocious. Our waitress was visibly annoyed when I asked questions regarding the menu. It took 20 minutes to have my drink come out when the rest of the table had theirs. That being said, the drink was disgusting. I ordered a guava margarita which the waitress said was their seasonal flavor. It tasted like sweet juice and no alcohol. Since the waitress was nowhere to be found after she quickly brought anything to the table and ran away, I got up to Go to the bartender to ask for a regular margarita with no flavor. Not only did the bartender EMBARRASS me in front of the bar customers, she was completely rude and dismissive. She said there was no way my margarita was too sweet because everything was measured. I said OK but I don't like it, can I have one with no flavor? And she proceeded to ask me "what's too sweet about it? Why is it too sweet?" Literally putting me on the spot in front of other customers. I was appalled. I said I don't like the juice can I just have another one with no flavor then? She walked away and I didn't see the margarita for another 15 minutes until our food was out. We had kids with us and 2 kids meals came out and my daughters didn't come out for another 15 minutes after the other children. She was complaining how hungry she was and as usual, our waitress was nowhere to be seen. This is not the way to run an establishment. Especially after spending close to $300 for 3 adults and 3 children. The gratuity was even added in because their staff is so terrible they have to guarantee their tip it seems. I wish there was a manager on site so I could've complained or at least had the gratuity taken off, but they were nowhere to be seen. There was no hostess on site, and completely understaffed. I came here with my daughter and a friend for Taco Tuesday, this hasn't been my first time here but definitely first Taco Tuesday. To my chagrin, they play bingo on Tuesday. A time was had...I will be back. Now for the food, I ordered the cod fish taco and the buffalo chicken taco. Both tacos were good, my favorite being the buffalo chicken taco, it was flavorful with the right amount of heat. I'm not taking away from the cod fish taco, it was flavorful as well but I just enjoyed the buffalo better. For a drink I got a regular mojito, and babbyyy they make a good drink here! I stumbled upon Lucharitos one day while craving tacos, and I'm so glad I did! The decor is super fun with WWE wrestlers on the walls, and the music will definitely have you wanting to dance. The margaritas are strong but so good, and the tacos are flavorful and reasonably priced for what you get. As far as service goes, the staff is very nice and welcoming. It can take a little while, especially on Taco Tuesdays when they may only have one bartender and one server, but their positive attitudes definitely make up for the wait.I especially love going for Taco Tuesdays! Unfortunately have to pile on the general sentiment here: this place is nothing special. Kind of a cool theme with lucadors and very nice inside. We ate on the patio which was fine. Service was very uneven. Our server talked us out of nachos (that's a first) in lieu of chips with a trio of sauces, which wasn't nearly enough for our group. In general she was very nice but hard to find, especially when she disappeared at the end as we were trying to leave. Normally this isn't a huge deal, however with 3 kids that needed to go to bed (not to mention the seniors), this was a pain in the butter. Had Mexican Coke and a strawberry margarita which was ok. Chips and sauces were just ok. Chips didn't taste fresh, with the sauce not being flavorful, the queso ok, and the guac very ordinary (think store bought). I got 3 tacos because it didn't realize how much they overload their tacos. Not with meat either, just with lettuce and other fillers. It was absolutely ridiculous and made them a chore to pick up and eat. They also served my tacos on a platter without any uprights, so when they put them down on the table everything overflowed over the side, through the mesh of the outdoor table, and onto my pants. Someone needs to teach these guys how to plate food. Once I took all of the extra crap off, the tacos were a mixed bag. The fried fish tacos were pretty good even if the batter was on the thick side, as they were nice and crisp. The coconut shrimp tacos fine for what they were, however not my favorite and a tiny portion (2 shrimp). I got the picodillo taco as a crisp/soft, which I didn't realize they were going to do some Taco Bell shit and put a crisp tortilla inside a soft one; I literally asked my server what it was and she did not explain this. I ended up ripping the hard shell out as the soft shell was covered in lettuce, and once I did it was a bit soggy but otherwise fine. If you're looking for a sit down version of Taco Bell, this is it. Place screams chain restaurant, and I honestly would rather do Taco Bell than this. Food is 2 stars, however I'm removing a star for the service. If you have to come here, get a quesadilla as those looks better than the rest. read more

I was really disappointed with my last visit to Lucharitos. While the food was delicious, the experience around it was extremely lackluster. Our waitress was terrible and seemed slightly annoyed when we were asking about menu items. On top of that she was incredibly slow. We had ask a second server to bring us utensils because our waitress brought our food but then was nowhere to be found when we needed forks to eat it. My friend ordered a drink that came out way too sweet and tasted like it has zero alcohol in it. When she went to the bartender to ask her to make a new one the bartender was so rude and nasty about it. We had three kids with us and two meals came out together, the last was about 15 minutes behind. I understand that the kitchen can get backed up but a little heads up would have been nice. Lastly the waitress was clearing the table and she dropped a thing of ketchup oh the floor which splashed up and went all over my husband's sweatshirt and hat. I understand that it was an accident, and that's fine, but she never apologized and it took her about 15 minutes to come back with extra napkins. We came as a group during lunch time, it was not very busy. As a group, we were lucky to be seated right away. The decor and vibe of this place is super cute. They have lots of art and even a duck hunt game when you first walk in. Our waitress was so sweet, and very attentive to us. We ordered nachos for the table which were amazing. It was enough for the whole group, I am not sure how two people could finish it and move onto their entree. The margaritas were amazing! The presentation in a little pineapple shaped glass was unique. The margarita did not make you feel heavy afterwards either. The chicken quesadilla was really good. Fun spot for a bite of Mexican inspired food. Wouldn't go here for authentic Mexican food, but it was comforting and the servings were generous. Tried the street corn and the duck carnitas quesadilla. Corm was a tad under salted but was otherwise sweet, bright, and melded well with the lime juice and cotija cheese. Wish the quesadilla was a bit mixed in toppings - it was a lot of duck meat and cheese without vegetables or anything that could help cut the heaviness of the meat. I donate blood across the street every couple of months so I have wanted to check this place out for a while and this last Tuesday, we did. The atmosphere is fun and very, very casual. It seemed to need a good cleaning though. We were greeted warmly and our server was attentive despite the fact that she also made the drinks and delivered the food. Don't be fooled by the sparking clean and interesting decor, our food was not good and I would recommend coming during their 5 dollar taco times so that you at least don't waste too much $$. Loved how my Nacho looked, but underneath the meat was pathetically dry and impossible to eat. Jalapeños were left off. The tomatoes on my friends Frieda salad were embarrassing. Really a shame because the place is cute. Watch your receipt We split the bill on cards and the tip suggestion was listed on the receipt as if it was the entire total, something I've never seen. There are a few Lucharitos locations. I went to the one in Melville. There is a huge parking lot so you wouldn't need to worry about parking. There are also options to sit outside or inside. Since it was a beautiful day, my friend and I came here for lunch and sat outside. We were seated quickly. Many tables inside were filled. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp Taco which is on the menu as "A best seller!" It had crispy coconut shrimp and mango salsa with pickled cabbage, corn salsa, & chipotle mayo. I also ordered the Crescent Farm Duck Taco. It had pulled BBQ local duck with pickled cabbage, corn salsa, & chipotle mayo. The duck was a little dry. I definitely liked the refreshing flavors of the Coconut Shrimp Taco more than the Crescent Farm Duck Taco. Each of the tacos were $7.50 which is a little steep for 1 taco. Service was fine and the waitress needed to keep walking in and out of the restaurant. There were no complimentary chips or anything. read more

Came here for lunch to try this place out. For the apps we tried chips and guacamole which tasted like a store bought guac. Not made to order or made for the day. We were good without having that. The shrimp empanadas on the other hand was really good. For the main order I ordered the soft and crunch shell. Which is basically a hard taco inside a soft tortilla. You have the option of how you want the taco.(soft, hard taco). So I ordered the coconut shrimp tacos and Al pastor which wasn't bad. Also not pictured is the Mexican street corn that came with chips. Its okay but seem more like a "dipping" style rather then as a side dish. The waitress was the host and everything in between. Another great meal at Lucharitos. First time at this location. I had the fish tacos (Mahi Mahi) which were delicious even though I typically prefer the breaded/coated fish. This was healthier and very fresh. Loved the pickled cabbage and corn on my tacos. My husband had a ginormous platter of nachos. It had three kinds of meat: chicken, ground beef and pork. Piled on was cheese, guacamole, jalapeño and beans. I had a taste of the chicken and the pork and both were so delicious, packed with flavor and not at all dry. The nachos are meant to share but he decided to have it as his lunch. Halfway through, he realized he was full but he kept on eating because it was so good. Service was great. But there was this waiter, young little girl, very rude, she was at the bar but she said to the other worker "are you taking care of these two?" Which I find very rude maybe cause we're Hispanics and she's not? Hello "she works at a Mexican restaurant. Anyhow her tone and demeanor toward us was very rude and condescending. We had no problem getting a table and the decor was really cool. The food was just meh. None of the appetizers caught our eye so we went straight to ordering entrees. My husband ordered off the specials menu a short rib quesadilla and only later did we realize the specials menu has no prices on it. Had we seen the price, probably would have skipped that one lol but he enjoyed it. I got a burrito bowl which I customized and a passionfruit aqua fresca. The drink was delicious and I would absolutely have it again and maybe try their other flavors. I was a little taken aback that my bowl was not hot. Some parts were cold and some parts were room temperature and I ordered double steak but I'm not sure I got double steak (if I did the regular steak portion is fit for a toddler). My kid got chicken fingers and fries. The fries are a fun shape and like most kids she ate them first and the chicken was an after thought. Lucharitos does two things extremely well: duck and hot sauce. They also have wonderful service and their Lucha decorations are so fun/cool. Their duck quesadilla is something I crave regularly. I don't live nearby but I make the trip to get it when the craving hits - they cook it perfectly! On this trip, we noticed they had new house made hot sauces we had never tried. We tried the hot honey, mango habanero, and pineapple passion and were blown away. They were perfectly balanced. Perfect amount of spice but so much flavor. Luckily for us a young man named Chris came over to check on how our meal was going, we told him how much we loved the sauces. He thanked us and let us know he was actually the one who makes them. I asked if we could buy them and he said yes! 3 bottles later, I can't wait to put it on everything. I hope they sell more of them, I'd come back just for the hot honey sauce alone. read more

Tried the Melville location for the first time since we've been to the Greenport location and really enjoyed it. This spot is solid. Quality, tasty food that you can come to expect from Lucharitos! Our burrito and tacos were a good portions and really tasty. Mexican street corn was also good, but not the best I've had (it'll sate your appetite if you're in the mood for it). We ate outside which is nice if the weather is. The location itself isn't as great as the Greenport spot, and place did feel a little messy (maybe the weekend crowd is to blame), but works for Melville! We ordered take out and I thought it was ok. The nachos were good and come deconstructed for takeout so everything doesn't get mushy. The issue is my son got the mac and cheese nachos and the chicken and the pasta was cold and dried out and because there was no cheese on it. The quesadilla was good. Stopped in for a quick lunch. I knew nothing of the location or restaurant prior to arriving, I just happened to be driving by. I looked tat the reviews while waiting for service. It was quick and I noticed a 3.5 star rating. I was surprised based on the look and feel in the restaurant. The atmosphere is bright and pleasant. I immediately noticed the price for the burrito o was ordering was 17 dollars. I thought it was high, but let's see the taste and size The burrito was "normal" it terms of size. It wasn't skimpy, but not overflowing either. It came with 8 tortilla chips (not many) and no salsa which I thought was a little weird. It was fair but nothing to really brag about. I went on a nice Wednesday afternoon where I had the most amazing lunch/experinence with the nice young lady who took care of me.. Madison I think her name was. Such a bright smile and wonderful personality. I asked her what her favorite drink and dish was and that I didn't' want her to tell me, just to do it. I was first brought a beautiful classic margarita with a salt rim.. YUM! Shortly after two wonderful tacos came out.. Duck and Coconut shrimp tacos!
