We were greeted by a very bubbly hostess, who promptly seated us. We opted for the bar because of all the movement there but in front the open kitchen might have been equally exciting. There are quiet tables in the front and back if you are looking for less movement. With all the action at the bar it was quiet enough that we could talk at a minimum volume and hear each other. The bartender made us a great old fashioned and we shared some cool storied. We ordered and were served promptly. The shrimp tacos and rice and beans were very good. Went with a large family group. Though we had a reservation (8pm on a Saturday night) we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, service was good and the food and drinks were very, very good. We had an absolutely delicious plate of self-assembly tacos. Really, good. Only real issue was that it was very loud. So loud that every few minutes I could see Apple Watches, including mine, lighting up with "too loud" warning messages for more than 90 decibels (Wikipedia notes that 90 decibels is "comparable to the sound of a lawn mower, motorcycle, or subway train"). Practically speaking, in the main restaurant it was too loud to speak to anyone not seated right next to you, although it wasn't crowded. We were seated in the lovely greenhouse, which was slightly quieter. One star off for too loud. read more

I have eaten here many times with with friends and family and it is one of my favorite restaurants. We hosted my son's Baptism here this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect. We had the greenhouse room for about 30 people and it was so nice. The service was amazing, the staff accommodated my party in any way that was asked of them. My 101 year old grandmother was able to access the space with no problem. The food was incredible as always and I had tons of compliments from my guests on the choice of venue for the party. The tacos here the past few times ive gone have not been good. getting the chicken tacos, you'll recieve something burnt and lacking in flavor and the fish tacos you could squeeze water out of them. Lack of seasoning for two bite size tacos for around twenty dollars. Guacamole good. I went out for lunch with two friends for New Year's Eve lunch and, unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. I ordered a coconut mojito, but it tasted only like lime--there was no coconut flavor at all or any rum which would have been ok don't need it to be strong but tasted like you were sucking on a lime. Two of us ordered tortilla soup, which had no flavor! It didn't resemble tortilla soup at all. It was a thick, non-translucent broth with large chunks of carrots, barely any tortilla strips, and it was served lukewarm again - no flavor ironically the server said the soup of the day was spicy tortilla chicken soup, no spicy, no flavor, no bueno! One of my friends ordered a quesadilla with a side of rice. The menu described the rice as "toasted with garlic," but she said it tasted like plain steamed minute white rice with no seasoning. We ended with coffee and churros. The coffee arrived well before the churros, and when the churros finally came, three had cinnamon sugar and one did not at all. None of them were warm, and the dough inside was undercooked and raw. All three of us agreed that the food lacked flavor across the board. Thankfully, the company was great, which made the experience more enjoyable than the meal itself. Hopefully, this was just an off day for the kitchen, but overall it was a very disappointing lunch. read more

Met up with a friend at Verde for Cinco de Mayo. It was slightly busy but to our surprise we were seated quickly in the back area decorated with all kinds of plants. We ordered from their specials menu and it did not disappoint. The margaritas were good and perfectly balanced, chips were tasty with just the right amount of salt and our apps/entrees was also tasty. I like spicy, so I could have used some heat on my brisket burrito by overall it was yummy. To top it off, the Tres Leche cake for dessert was a nice treat. Hostess was super friendly & we were grateful for her clueing us in that we needn't worry about getting a parking ticket due to all the broken pay stations out back-it was pouring & after running to 2 broken stations close to the restaurant we just did the best we could! Whew for no ticket! The food was good, but we had that weird vibe from several different people trying to take away our plates while I (aka our slowest eater) was still sharing food with the other person at the table. Definitely rushed an otherwise good meal! Also, heads up-they probably wouldn't charge if you want ketchup for your fries, but charged extra when we asked for something to dip the plantains in. Fabulous Bayshore Gem In town for our annual trip to Fire Island, my girlfriends and I missed our planned ferry and opted to grab a drink and a nosh while waiting for the next departure time. Verde did not disappoint. The enclosed restaurant patio/greenhouse (with air conditioning!) is a lovely place to savor a great flavored margarita and some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long while. Yesterday we hosted my sister's baby shower here in their green room. Everything couldn't have been more perfect. I never write reviews but I just had to this time because the staff here is out of this world. Seriously they are beyond sweet. They were so attentive and helped with everything from setting up, to even throwing away OUR big bags of garbage for us and helping us clean up. They truly made everything run so smoothly. 10 years later it's still a fun favorite. This rustic upcycled Mexicali establishment was thoughtfully designed from an international scavenger hunt of sorts. We had a 60th Birthday party in the greenhouse on Saturday. It was without question the absolute BEST party we have ever had. Laura and the entire staff were exceptional. Started off with the specialty guacamole which has pomegranate seeds and sliced almonds, so good! We also had a few items off the chefs menu - the quesadilla and the yuca fries. These should be a staple on the menu! Without a doubt my favorite items! We then moved into tacos since it was Tuesday and they were 25% off! We had the chefs special cauliflower tacos and the chicken. Both delicious and you can tell the taco shells are made fresh! The cauliflower was my favorite out of the two. Margaritas were on point! We had parked in the rear parking lot and saw a bridal shower party was leaving; the girl told us we couldn't enter from the back and we had to go all around to enter. I finally made it here after years of wanting to go. I got the shrimp tacos which were delicious! It consisted of crispy battered shrimp, cabbage, avocado, cilantro and a chipotle drizzle.
