Mafaldine pasta $29, pancetta pizza $20 (HH), potatoes $10 (HH)
    Suanne L.

New-ish restaurant in the Vancouver food scene! Was luckily able to score a table on Feb 13th (just the day before valentines day) for Happy Hour. We ordered some stuff off the HH menu and some off the regular. Interior itself is modern and aesthetic for a nice night out. Started with the potatoes, which has a really strong truffle mayo/cheese taste. Pretty solid, came out super hot. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! We also got the beef carpaccio which was pretty good as well. I would appreciate if the bread was a little bit softer, as the crunch actually took away from the taste of the beef itself. For mains, we ordered the pancetta pizza and Mafadine pasta. Pizza was just okay, it's pretty plain (in terms of taste) except when you have a bite with the pancetta. Crust was airy enough, but the pizza itself was on the chewier side. Mafadine pasta tasted like if you were to eat chicken noodle soup but in a pasta form. It was also okay but pretty filling. The taste kind of gets repetitive after a couple of bites but we managed to finish it. The beef cheek was very tender though! Honestly all the food we ordered seemed to have a similar taste profile - cheesy & creamy, which made everything taste kind of the same. As well, the truffle aioli/cheese from the potato is pretty overwhelming so everything else tasted more bland. For the price (as others have said) is quite reasonable for a *seemingly* more upscale restaurant, but the food quality is just okay. Don't think I would return.

Had a fab bday lunch at Lucia today! The ambience is really cozy. The patio space is warm and indoors so you get the best of both worlds. We sat in the main dining room that has a really warm hue of pink and light wood accents. Perfect for taking pics! They had a Christmas tree too set up that added to the overall coziness too. For drinks we got the sangria, the not really compari soda, the designated driver and a simple chionnotto soda. The non alcoholic cocktails were nice! Not too sweet and good flavour. The sangria was heavier on the wine which you don't often get which was nice. For food dishes we got the following: Wagyu beef carpaccio: this dish was delicious! Has abit of Asian flavour which we loved. Came with a good amount of crostinis too. Little gem lettuce: yummy salad with a ton of shaved cheese. Just like a solid Cesar salad. Lettuce was fresh and crunchy. Mains to share: Lamb ribs: to die for, prob my fave dish. Beautifully cooked and fall off the bone. Great flavour! Rigatoni: delicious vodka based sauce pasta with burrata on top, lots of basil. Noodles were cooked nicely. Bucatini: great cacio e pepe sauce on this dish but the noodles were just slightly over on the cook. I needed abit more chew. Dessert we finished off with the almond torta with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. With cappuccinos and a tea. Overall this lunch was delicious and everyone loved it!!! Highly recommend. And it's reasonable too!! Service was also really lovely . Will be back!!

Went to Lucia to celebrate my friend's birthday, it was 6 of us and we got a reservation a week before. The restaurant was pretty packed on a Saturday night, their ambiance was pretty nice with a lot of seating options for smaller and bigger groups. We got 1 appetizer and 4 mains between the 6 of us and I would say that was the perfect amount since their portions are quiet big. They also gave a complimentary cake for my friend who was celebrating her birthday which I thought was very nice. My favourite meal from the night was their rigatoni vodka sauce pasta - it had a nice spice level and was super flavourful. I would perhaps come back for it! We also got 2 bottles of wine - they had a pretty big selection. This place is a nice spot if you want to celebrate an occasion but not spend too much money.

We came on a weekday and the whole night there weren't many people. Sourdough focaccia ($12)- okay but wouldn't order again Wagyu beef carpaccio ($29) - pretty decent flavours. One of the better dishes of the night Scallops ($28) - big and juicy. I liked the apple amd watercress. Lumache pasta ($26) - this was not bad. The pasta was well cooked. Needed a bit more cheese for that extra umph Fregola Sarda ($26) this one felt more like a risotto. I enjoyed the texture of this pasta. The bites of pancetta added a nice savouriness Squid ($36) - not chewy and well cooked Truffle potatoes ($14) - don't get these. They weren't crispy enough and didn't taste like truffle at all Ahi tuna crudo ($26) - forgettable dish. Wouldn't order again Limoncello zabaoine ($16) - this was actually quite addictive. The portion size was huge. I felt like this one could be stronger on the lemon flavour. Overall the dishes were all okay. Nothing amazing but nothing bad either. Service was fast. Would be okay for a regular meal but don't expect amazing food.

Waiting time: 5/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 ‍Service: 2.5/5 Taste: 3/5 Pricing: 3/5 Overall: We had a 3:45 PM reservation for six - no wait, and we got to try their happy hour. We were not greeted when we entered the restaurant, and it was not busy at all. I stood by the door with our umbrella as I didn't want it dripping further inside. I asked the server if there's someone that we could leave our umbrella and she gave us a weird look. Then as we just sat down, she was a bit pushy with drink orders while we were still waiting for more people, but we eventually ordered bubbles (would've been nice if she asked if we were celebrating something). We tried everything on the happy hour menu - the whipped ricotta and lamb were definite standouts for me. Unfortunately the $12 sangria tasted like watered-down red wine, and the pastas were inconsistent - some pieces perfectly al dente, others overcooked, and the sauce could've used more flavor. It was our first visit, and while not everything hit the mark, I'd come back for happy hour and those small bites!

We were looking for a place to grab brunch/lunch and remembered that Lucia had recently opened. We made a reservation but it wasn't very busy. The place is freshly renovated - simple and contemporary. Much better looking than the previous business which was very run down. We tried three things: - Seasonal Burrata: Good. Nice burrata, and bread was lighter than expected which was a pleasant surprise. Expensive though. - Mascarpone Stuffed French Toast: OK. Sounds better than it actually was. Just rather plain. - Ragu Alla Bolognese: Good. Well made with nice sauce. Service was not great. Server was nice enough, but never checked up on us between serving our food and clearing our plates when we were done. Overall, it was OK but lots of room for improvement. The Italian dishes were good, but service could have been better. I understand they need to recover the cost of renovations, but I could see some of the prices being too much for what you get. Lucia is better than the previous business (which i thought was pretty bad)

Tasty spot on Main St! We stopped by for happy hour and stayed for dinner. The drinks were great - I had the sangria and Hugo spritz. On the happy hour, we had the potatoes (nice and crispy) and the dip (bread was nice and warm). For the mains - I would skip the wagyu beef carpaccio. It was skimpy and hard to take off the plate. The pasta was a huge highlight. It was so tasty! Perfect texture and saucy.

Dropped by for a weekday lunch and didn't have an issue getting a table. We sat inside and near the patio to get some fresh air without the noise. The decor is nice and simple- a nice complete Reno from the restaurant that resided previously. We had a wonderful friendly server. Food was delicious. She recommended about 3-4 dishes for 2 people. The menu has more of a dinner feel to it. We tried the polenta fries ( OMG!) radicchio salad (so good), Calabrian cheese spread with flat bread (also delicious with a really nice kick), burrata, and the corn and zucchini pasta. Also grabbed a delicious sangria for a drink. Definitely over ordered but we finished everything slowly like a marathon. Definitely would come back as a treat but the prices seem a little steep; especially some of the antipastos

Went for lunch at Lucia on a weekday, it was not busy at all. The interior looked new and modern. It was spacious. We ordered some drinks and the wagyu carpaccio. It was really good with the toast on the side. The bucatini pasta was a bit on the heavier side with the ragu meat sauce and salty. However the rigatoni with vodka sauce was really flavourful and delicious. We enjoyed the dessert- the tiramisu was rich in chocolate and coffee flavour and the pavlova was delicious (light and airy) not too sweet. They have an extensive cocktail and wine list. Would want to come back for dinner to try some of their other dishes.

Was hoping good things cause of all the videos ive seen but food came out luke warm We ordered 2 pastas, pizza, carpaccio. Portion sizing was very small (plates meant to be shared, but i feel like 1 person could eat 3 items) The pastas were warm and kind of hard, the pizza was hot but once cooled off it gets chewy and stale. The carpaccio meat was good but the bread that it came with was rock hard, we ended up asking for a new one but it was still the same thing. I got a sangria that was actually good. The food itself came out really quick, but i think i would wait for a couple months to try this place again. Ambiance was cute and clean! And service was good, felt a bit rushed.

The service was also great, with multiple people checking in on us. The corkage, at $20, is very reasonable and the restaurant even comp'ed our tiramisu! We will miss it once it is gone. The food was quite decent. I thought the prices were a bit inflated for just pasta, but the portion size was pretty massive -- most of us took leftovers to go. The sauces in general were a bit bland and the pasta was definitely cooked to beyond al dente, which isn't my preference for dried pasta. The first sign that THIS Italian Kitchen is not your great-grandnonna's kitchen was the sweet hostess's inquiry about our reservations. Though I would strongly recommend making one in the future, we appreciate the staff for squeezing our family in for 1.5 hour. The chef must have known our window of time was limited because our three plates came out swiftly after we placed our order, with no shortage of quality. The girls enjoyed the truffle spaghetti and meatballs so finely minced that they crumbled between the prongs of their forks. They even tried the Grilled Spring Salmon (which my husband and I were a little loathe to share-- would it be worse if they disliked it or loved it too much?) and the crunchy bits of the antipasto platter. Our waiter, Mike, was attentive in all the right ways. But of course, among all the richness and flavors, our 5yo's favorite item was the slice of bread at the beginning. (Cross-posted on Google)

We absolutely loved their house-made pasta during that visit, so we knew we had to return and explore more of the menu. Ambiance - 4/5 One of the things we appreciate most about this restaurant is the outdoor seating. On a beautiful day, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a meal, especially if you're dining with a dog. Being able to relax outside with our pup made for a very enjoyable experience. Service - 3/5 Service was friendly, but not quite as attentive as during our previous visit. Our server was pleasant, though there were a few missed opportunities to enhance the experience. For example, we weren't informed that alcohol could not be served in the outdoor dining area until after we had already started looking at the drink menu while we were in the middle of dining. Food - 4/5 The highlight of this restaurant continues to be its house-made pasta. The texture is wonderfully chewy and perfectly cooked, giving each dish a freshness that's difficult to find elsewhere. This visit, we tried the mushroom tagliatelle with truffle rosé sauce. While the description sounded incredible, the dish didn't quite live up to our expectations. It was enjoyable, but we still preferred the bolognese from our previous visit and cacio e pepe from this visit, both of which showcased the pasta more effectively. We also ordered the gnocchi, which was well prepared and satisfying to certain extent, but it didn't surpass our favorite one from San Francisco. The pesto sauce was just okay. If we order the gnocchi again, we'd likely try it with a tomato-based sauce instead. Overall Value - 4/5 This restaurant offers excellent value, particularly for pasta lovers. The quality of the house-made pasta alone makes it worth a visit, and there are still several dishes on the menu we're eager to try. We're already looking forward to returning and exploring more of what the kitchen has to offer.
