I was lowkey excited to have found my new tailor after a multi-year drought. It's not easy to find a spot in the area that does good work, and I was optimistic about this from the jump. Ultimately, I ended up leaving this place with a bad taste in my mouth. When I got sized up and measured for my old suit, a blazer, and a casual button-down, everything was great. The staff was friendly, and Sarah did a nice job talking me through everything. I'll be real, it was ultimately a lot more money than I thought it would be. This place has a good reputation and I needed it done, so I rolled with it. You pay up front and then come back on the date they tell you. I'll say, a courtesy call that it's ready would've been nice as this is the kind of thing that easily slips the mind. Went in to get it, and noticed the button-down was still crazy long. Like, too long to wear. We had just sized it up a few weeks prior, and again, I remember it all clearly having had a positive interaction. I remembered the specifics -- at one point I thought the suggested length would be way too short, but we ultimately settled on an inch or so hemmed up. So I mention this, and whoever was taking care of me (not the same, friendly person from my first visit) was acting as if they'll make it all right, but noted it would be a new job. I.e., I'd have to pay even MORE than the $335 I'd already paid for the suit, blazer, and shirt taken in. I was surprised and was like, OK, but then it didn't sit well... again, I remember already going through this. That's where they left it. The way it came off to me was a half-assed, "Oh we just want you to be happy, so feel free to leave it with us and we can do what we said we were going to but charge you more for what we originally promised." Customer service matters, and you never want to drop a bag of money and feel dissatisfied, but that's where I'm at. I'm giving the courtesy of three stars again because the first half was a positive experience, and they ultimately got the suit and jacket right and on time. I respect that, but am disappointed to be right where I started with my shirt. Budget's already spent on alterations for the next couple years, and in my opinion, hemming it an inch to fulfill the original order shouldn't be a hill they die on. On to the next, and if you go here, I hope you get better resolution and customer service than I did. read more

Lucia's Sarto has made the experience with my wedding dress alterations a fabulous one! What could be a stressful situation has been made simple and enjoyable due to Natalyia and her team's expertise and friendly interactions. They were able to do wonders with the lace hem, bustle, taking in the bust, waist and hips, among other alterations. They worked carefully to keep the intricate beading and details perfect. We took in another formal gown and Natalyia was able to transform and cut of the front chest and expertly hem the bottom to match the height of the heals that will be worn. I recently came to Lucia's Sarto to have my wedding dress altered. I was living in Chicago and was trying to cram all my remaining KC wedding stuff into one weekend. After calling around to a few places and getting no answer, I was so relieved when Nataliya answered right away, and said it was no problem for me to bring my dress in whenever was convenient on a Friday. Nataliya is very laid back and really great to work with. She was able to do everything I needed (hem, bustle, and bra cups sewn in) for what I felt was a very reasonable price. I was sad I hadn't found her sooner; would have loved to have her make a custom dress. While she wasn't able to press the dress, she recommended a really great cleaner's to have pick it up or take it to (Blue Sky Cleaners...bonus: they're green!). Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Nataliya (the store owner). I brought in a navy suit that fit me poorly (due to my lack of knowledge of proper fit at the time). I've only recently become a client of Lucia's Sarto, but, if my brief experiences accurately indicate our future interactions, I can say I have FINALLY found the service I've been very much in need of. I'm a man of unique frame (broad shoulders, long torso/wingspan, very slim waist) so rarely do I find a garment that is "ready-to-wear" off the rack. As a regular, I have developed a very well-rounded history of tailor service experiences. Upon entering the location of Lucia's Sarto, I was greeted with a welcome and a smile. There are a few impressive custom designs on display, providing both the atmosphere of a studio, and reassurance of the experience/skill level at hand. After I explained my need (I had some new shirts for work that needed to be "taken in"), they did a fitting and offered me a very reasonable price/pickup date, which I happily accepted. The results were wonderful! Many tailors I've had experiences with have done well in regard to fitting the garment to my frame; at Lucia's Sarto, not only did the piece fit my frame beautifully, but also fit my own personal style. Normally, I have a couple small adjustment requests (personal preference alterations) after completion, but I'm very happy to say this has not been the case at this establishment. I believe she has a very modern style, combined with classic educating and an artistic eye, which grant her the ability to work with many tastes/styles/preferences, and the results are beyond satisfying. I brought in 12 dress shirts and a leather jacket to be taken in and repaired.They told me two weeks, which was great to begin with and when I came in to pick up my first batch they were all done! Once I got home I tried them on and everything fit perfectly. They did a fantastic job and I would highly reccommend that you go here, plus theyre super friendly and very sweet. read more

I went to Lucias after reading these reviews about the pricing being reasonable. My bridesmaid dress fit well but just needed a hem and one side taken in. They first quoted me at $200 for the side, hem and 2 straps to be taken in, wanting $50 to take 2 inches off the straps. I just said that is ridcolous and wouldn't have the strap done. Without that it would have been $165. Then with it being only one side being taken in, they said they'd charge $45 instead of $85. My total quote was 130 for a hem and one side being taken in. When i told them I was going to take it elsewhere, they told me these rates were competitive and that I would find that this cost was a good one and couldn't find it elsewhere . Indeed, it wasn't a reasonable price. I took my dress to somewhere 10 minutes away who does bridal gowns as well, got 2 straps taken in, a hem , and both sides taken in for 120 total./ ( Lucias wanted to charge $50 for straps and $200 total.) read more

Nataliya is amazing. I took my wedding dress here and she did an incredible job in a very timely manner. And the prices CANNOT be beat - I was shocked. The store I purchased the dress from did not order the correct size for me and she managed to expand / take in all the parts of the dress that were necessary - which was no easy task given that the dress had intricate beading and lace.
