They have gone above and beyond meeting her needs and wishes. Mom loves gardening so they built her a little planter box and she grows tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and onions. They even make her feel helpful and let her fold clothes and towels when she wants to. Everything is family oriented. They sit and have meals all together and the parties and special holidays are fabulous! We are always cheerfully invited to visit any time and there are no restrictions when we want to take her on an outing. Lohar welcomed him back under hospice, and he was able to pass peacefully in a familiar and supportive environment. The communication from the clinical director, Yolanda, was outstanding. She kept us fully informed and worked closely with us to ensure his hospice care met all of his needs. When he passed, it was clear that Yolanda and several other staff members were deeply affected. And it's extremely flexible in that you only have to give 30 days notice to vacate without any further charges. The activities are well organized- a great balance between social events, physical activities, mental challenges. Top picks include smoothie socials, bingo, chair yoga, coffee and doughnuts. My dad is stubborn and picky and he has finally settled in and enjoys being here.

He was happy, content, treated with respect and given care beyond what we could ever have provided him at home. It was such a burden off our shoulders to know he was there. We were very fortunate and blessed to find La Valhalla Residential Board and Care. The moment we walked in the door we knew we had found the right place for our dad. It is not a clinical, sterile facility, but a warm, inviting home. The DeVera family is amazing in their compassion and care of their residents. The residents are not treated as residents or patients, but family members. Having to place a loved one away from their personal residence can be an overwhelming, intimidating, daunting experience for a family. Working with the DeVera family at LaValhalla eliminated all of those feelings. We are so happy that we found a residential home where all the caregivers are compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, and truly concerned about the residents in their home. We are at peace knowing that our dad is happy, safe, and well cared for thanks to the efforts and expertise of the staff at LaValhalla.
