Hands down my absolute favorite place for sweets and ice cream! As soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with a chill vibe (yes pun intended ) and the warmest smiles from the staff. Everything they make is made right there in the store, including their ice cream. They have all different sorts of cookies, cakes, & deserts to suit everyone in your life, including the fur babies. On Fridays and Saturdays, they have homemade pastries, get there early because they sell out quickly. They also make cakes to order for birthdays and other special occasions. I followed L&B on Instagram for quite some time and have had them on the list to visit. We decided to check them out on a Sunday afternoon. The storefront was cute with some merchandise, a small cookie / treat display, and then ice cream counter. There was not any seating indoors. We went with ice cream and grabbed 3 orders for my husband, my son and myself. I also added a homemade dog bone to our order to share with the dog when we got home. Service wasn't great, the staff member who served us sadly seemed annoyed that we were there. My husband also asked for a sample ice cream which they don't allow so you just have to go with your gut (stomach?)! We sat outside which was just fine. All in all I doubt I will return which is a bummer because their custom cakes look amazing. We just didn't feel particularly welcome during our visit. read more

I first found this bakery last month and decided to try the personal Apple pie. while I was their, I went ahead and ordered my son a Grasshopper cake. I warmed the Apple pie and sat down for some soothing dessert. The flavors were spot on but it was very dense. i figured they must have been off a bit that day but when we cut into my son's birthday cake today, it was the same...beautiful, flavorful, delicious, but very dense. We just used Luckhaus this past weekend for my mom's 70th sweets birthday party! While I did the cake and some of the desserts, we also contacted Luckhaus to handle some as well. Setting up an appointment to meet with one of the owners was easy. We appreciated the fact that my sister and I were both coming from out of state/country and were only going to be in town for one day, that she was willing to meet with us on that one Saturday in August. It was comforting to be able to chat about options and thoughts on flavors and ideas that she may have for a fall dessert party. We made our order through e-mail a few weeks in advance for pick up on Saturday. Ordering and pick up by my sister was a breeze. My only gripe...while we don't necessarily feel entitled to anything free, we did not make a cheap order. On the day of, when my sister went to pick up the sweets, she wanted to try 1 pumpkin macaroon that they had in store that day. She loves pumpkin - which is not easily available in Italy. She was asked if she wanted that one item rung up separately or with the order. I mean really? I have never left a review like this before but after seeing what we received versus what we ordered and paid handsomely for so I felt it necessary. I would give them negative review numbers if I could. We showed them a picture of what we wanted and they assured us they could do it. They had three plus weeks and it looks like they did it at the last second. I will never go back nor recommend them. So many GOOD things to say about LB, and no Bad things. We have been customers of "the Pound" , as we call it, for over ten years. Miss Robyn has always pleased our palates and sometimes surprised them with her fanciful creations. Need something memorable for a special occasion? Go speak with her...she will hear what you want and turn out a stunning dessert to amaze and impress! Just want a small treat? She has candies, cupcakes, little pies, cake pops, and cakes that are just the right size to pick up, pop a candle in it, then present to a friend or co-worker for a birthday. I highly recommend taking a trip there after dinner for an ice cream treat; it's the perfect ending to a perfect day (and much cheaper than restaurant desserts). Also, if you are interested in her production process, follow them on Instagram and watch as she takes an ordinary round cake and turn it into a Castle, Unicorn, Spaceport, or whatever. OK, re-upped again this past Thanksgiving with Apple, Pumpkin, Chocolate Mousse and Pecan. This year went with just plain Pecan. As in plain, old, ordinary, basic.... BEST DAMN PECAN PIE EVER. I really have to get back and sample everything else other than the pies because I know I am dealing with quality bakers and everything in their display case looks amazing. I have been here quite a few times now. It is conveniently located near my office on James island. I have sampled their ice cream, cupcakes, truffles, and cookies. There ice cream is good with large chunks of PB cup in the flavor I chose. The cookies and cream cupcake I had was TO DIE for! The cake was rich and moist and the icing was silky and not overly sweet. Truffles are dense which is not my preferred style, I am more a creamy soft center lover. The cookies are yummy and some are exceptional! My favorite is a short bread coated in chocolate with a gooy coconut caramel topping. It is like the Girl Scout Samoa but better!
