Love the hot and sour soup, the sesame chicken, the combination fried rice is my go to! Haven't had a bad meal!!

Wow! This place is amazing. First off the price point is spot on. They have a huge array of delicious food. My husband and I can eat lunch for less than $14!! Includes a drink, with free refills. The lunch portion is very satisfying. They do not skimp on portions. More importantly the quality of the food is superb. The atmosphere is modern and very clean as well. My husband and I are always careful to view the kitchen area and it is always pristine. I've had too many bad experiences with other places thus very careful about what places we will frequent. The staff are super friendly and it's always a pleasure to dine at their restaurant! A definite fave! Great job! read more

Ankeny's best Chinese place... Which isn't saying much with how little of options Ankeny has. The food tastes decent but be warned they tend to be out of certain dishes a lot of the time, claiming they've been busy and are out of stock. Price is average, as well as their service. We had to wait nearly 20 minutes for just 1 dish that we were sharing with only 3 customers in the place... TL;DR - Average taste, average service, average place overall. read more

Tried Lucky Bamboo for the first time today, July 14th 2017. Had the orange chicken special, which had great flavor and included an egg roll, crab rangoon, fried rice and soup! I wasn't pleased. I'm in town visiting a friend and I was told this place was the best. The young lady who took my order was pretty rude which was unexpected. She looked at me as if I was stupid and wouldn't explain it to me. It took a little long for us to get our order and even though my friend and I order separately they out it all in the same bag. Instead of doing fast food... as usual when it's getting late, we stopped in for dinner for the first time here. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu to us. I ordered General Tsos chicken and he ordered a bowl of Pho. Mine came with sides and soup and it all cost about the same as fast food. We sat down and they brought our food to us and the gentleman even made suggestions as to how my husband could spice up his first bowl of Pho. My friend and I decided to try Lucky Bamboo and we were happily surprised by how good it was. The service was quick despite being very busy, and when we went back to pickup our food, the owner remembered exactly which order was ours. And the food was very good. I went here recently. The girl that took my order was nice. She went through the menu quickly, but good thing they have the steps on the screen. The egg drop soup was delicious! I ordered steamed rice, but got fried rice instead. It's okay though, I didn't mind as much. The crab rangoon was a disappointment, not the best. The spring roll was tasty! I used the sauce from my Mongolian chicken as a dip. Although it made a great dip for my spring roll, the sweetness was overpowering. Maybe another scoop of fried or steamed rice would've made a difference to balance out the flavors. The chicken was tender though which was a plus. Overall, the special is a great deal for a meal for less then $8! read more

Food was okay. Nothing spectacular. Egg drop soup was all broth with 1/2 of a noodle and one shred of carrot-no joke! It also had an odd taste of cinnamon? You can get just about any common Chinese dish in a combo with an Egg Roll, Crab Ragoon, Rice and Soup for under $6 even during dinner hours. Mediocre chinese fair. The menu was kinda confusing, but figured it out eventually. The egg rolls are skinny, the crab rangoon that come with the meal are left to be desired. I will say the potstickers were bomb.com. I had the General chicken and the dish was decent. Others had the orange chicken and mongolian beef. Said it was good as well. I recommend the steamed rice over the fried. The soup of the day was the chicken corn and I found it too thick, but to be fair I am not generally a big fan of corn. Overall just average chinese. Wanted to go to our regular place, Pho 85, but it was closed today so we decided to try something new. Really happy we found this place! We both ordered the house beef pho. It was wonderful! Pho sized portions (which we were surprised about- it's a different kind of Asian place. We were told that it was the best in Ankeny while out shopping and read that it had positive reviews on Yelp. While it might be the best in Ankeny, it's still bad. The soup had way too much corn starch in it. The chicken lo main was bland. The cashew chicken used inferior cuts of meat. The pot stickers were oily. Overall, just disappointing. I love Lucky Bamboo, and the remodel looks fantastic! It is the only place I order Hot & Sour since it does not (I don't think) have mushrooms in it. The only real con I have with this place is evident by the fact they are a 10 minute walk from where I live and I go there maybe 4-5 times a year - because they only accept cash an check and I rarely have either on me. Cash only is just not convenient for me. I think the food here is a great deal considering you get a cup of soup, rice, egg roll and crab rangoon with your special order - and it's under $6! The place has a fun salt water aquarium too which will entertain your kids, but hopefully not at the expense of waiting customers! read more

My favorite hometown Chinese place. I have had many things on the menu from Moo Goo Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and the triple delight when I'm in the mood for a little seafood in the mix. I usually get the Chicken Chow Mein. I've been to other Chinese restaurants, and maybe it's just a favorite for the area, but it seems to set the standard for me as far as chinese food goes.
