I love Panda Express and this was my first time at this location. I went through the drive through and there was no line. I ordered, paid, and had my food out in under 2 minutes. I was very impressed at their speed. I received the correct order as well. The food tasted good as usual, could have been a little warmer but overall it was good and I'd come back! read more

I stopped here a couple nights ago and had carry out. I do not do their drive thru due to orders taking longer than usual and getting the wrong things. I use the mobile app to order and my food is always there waiting for me at the time they said. For this I have them the better review. Only thing wrong is what their mobile app says is not always what they have in store. I blame this on the transportation issues that every one is seeing. read more

This location has a great open concept seating arrangement that had plenty of natural light and a modern feel. The menu is very simple, and the ingredients were fresh. What you see is what you get when you are ordering. Simply choose the number of entrees that you want (2 is perfect for lunch) and the decide on rice or noodles. They have a good selection of soft drinks, and a reasonable amount of healthy options. I really appreciated that the nutrition info was listed above each selection. The prices were very comparable to other lunch places, and the staff was friendly. I didn't have any major conplaints. It wasn't too noisy, it was ADA accessible, and the bathroom was clean(but small). My lunch (General Tso chicken and beef broccoli with noodles) was okay. Girl working the drive through at around 8:35 on 5/8/22 had a terrible attitude. I get it was 30 minutes to close, but at least fake it. I'm sorry I had the audacity to come through the drive thru. The food also leaked all over inside the bag after they swung it at me and went all over the inside of my car. Clean, pretty quiet this time. All empty tables were clean and ready. Just myself and a friend on this visit. I had the chow mein, Beijing Beef, orange chicken, spring rolls and Rangoon. My friend had the honey walnut shrimp, I tried hers and it's my new favorite! My Beijing Beef was very crispy and the heat in it was perfect, not fry my tongue off, just a tad spicy, which I like. Everything was good, I'm a big fan of Panda Express. This isn't authentic Chinese. It's still good. I love the flavors and the mix and matching you can do to customize what you want and how. I absolutely love Chinese food. I am quite certain I was Asian in a former life. Panda Express isn't Chinese food. Chicken string beans were soft and greasy, mushroom chicken wasn't even close. Normally I wouldn't get mad over wait time, but ATLEAST update your automatic emails if you are going to move all pick up order to the dining area????? we waited in line at the drive thru to avoid touching anything additional and walking in, after we waited 20 minutes, the drive thru person told me no. she could not go get us our food and that we would have to come in so of course we were frustrated, not only could we not pass the guy in front of us, we had to wait to get to the window to be instructed to go insider with no explanation as to why she could not go get our food. low and behold our food is on a set of dining table? like what?? so not only was our food touched by employees and our names are printed SOOOOOOOO small on the receipt, we have other people coming in touching our food?....thanks for the additional minutes i needed to spend to wipe down the bags and boxes, microwave our food because our order was pick up for 11:55AM(which we did arrive at 11:55AM) and we did not get it until 12:25PM and got home at 12:35PM. For the record, i've picked up my food before at the drive thru, considering the food should be behind the counter and not out in the open unless its doordash or ubereats pick up orders. read more

Went in to order. Rude cunt came to the door and told us to order online and closed the door on us. Went online and ordered the food. Was supposed to be done in 20 minutes. Was told they would bring it to the truck. They didn't. I went back in and asked about it. It's a fucking buffet. They said the receipt got jammed. Lame excuse. Got my food. I ordered 3 entree meal. Steak, chicken, and shrimp. Didn't get any steak. Shrimp tasted burned. There was more pineapple than chicken. I'm on an all meat diet. I got a half a dozen bites of food. The good: New location, very clean n neat inside. The bad: The portion control is terrible (even the managers don't get it right at times). Smaller portions starts with some managers. Watch out for your drive through orders, smaller portion, stale food. (Ordered pepper chicken once, literately had 8 small pieces chicken and 3/4 of the dish were onions n celeries; to me they did not want to make fresh ones, instead of sending customer away quickly). read more

Panda Express does an okay job of satisfying my Chinese food craving. When I'm in a hurry they do the trick. So far the Ankeny Panda has done a good job of living up to the corporate standards. Food is fresh. Staff is friendly. And the new building continues to look awesome. read more

I have had mixed experiences at this location, but tonight was spot on! was asked to donate to the children's hospital, and was thanked by several employees for doing so. I wanted to give them the 5 starts they deserved but I couldn't because of how slow they were. I'm hoping that it was because of how new it is. We've always loved this Chinese fast food and this place is right up there with the others we've been to. Walked into this Panda Express and I was the only customer in the restaurant. I stood at the counter to order and waited, and waited, and waited for an employee to take my order or at least acknowledge my presence. FIVE different employees walked by or went about doing other things while I stood and waited to order. The is a new restaurant in a new building on the busy commercial street in Ankeny, Iowa. It had been open about two months before my first visit. The menu was exactly like two other franchise locations located in malls in the metro. The prices were the same. The food was the same. I think there were about a dozen different entrees to choose from. It is a medium priced fast food menu where you order your food at the counter and then you carry your food to your table. There are no waitresses so there is no tipping. I had General Tao Chicken and Broccoli Beef with rice. My food was hot and very good. The restaurant and bathrooms and parking lot were clean. The three workers were polite and they worked fast. I was there at about 11:20 AM on a Saturday which was before the lunch crowd arrived so I had the restaurant all to myself. There is nothing special about this place but I would go back again if I was nearby at lunch time. read more

OK, my third time trying Panda Express in Ankeny. Normally, I like Panda Express, but I'm done in Ankeny. Tonight when I went in there, there was literally NO food out. Zero. And five cars in the drive through. What were they planning to serve them? And I have to be real honest here - I was giving them a third try, even though I had not been pleased before. The past two times I've been there, I ordered the two entree meal. Both times, my "entrees" consisted of a short-half of a "dipper" of entree. So, with beverages and egg roll, my companion and I got about four tablespoons of entree for about $25 - utterly ridiculous! And it happened both times. So when I walked in and saw that there was NO food sitting out, I wasn't going to give them the chance to scrape up the leftover sauce and a piece of broccoli and call it good enough. Pros: Good location, good food at a good price. Cons: They should NOT have a drive-through. They are way too under-staffed for it. The drive-up line was long, so I went inside to place my order. Stood in line for 15 minutes (no exaggeration,) waiting to place my order. Manager, you'd better assign more people to each shift or you will go out of business. I had forgotten to tell the person at the drive thru that I wanted half chow mein and half fried rice. We came into the restaurant at 8:50 p.m., and the restaurant closed at 9 p.m. The servers were very welcoming and helpful, and they all smiled as they served us. Not one of the servers made us feel as though they were annoyed that we were coming into the restaurant so late. We appreciated that! As we were eating, we noticed and were very impressed with how diligent the workers were as they were cleaning at the end of the night. Each person appeared to be taking their time to thoroughly clean the exhaust hoods, the glass in front of the food, the floors, and the restrooms. I will definitely share this with my friends, neighbors, and coworkers. We will gladly return to this particular restaurant. read more
