The shrimp with vegetables was a very generous portion with a good amount of shrimp and plenty of clearly fresh, crunchy-cooked vegetables, also not salty. It came with a good portion of sticky white rice. The other part of my order was their "house special fried rice". Again, very well prepared and flavorful, with shrimp, pork, chicken, and veggies in it. I'll be certain to return or have delivery next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food. I was a bit skeptical at first, but one of them owns a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco so I had to believe his word when he said the food here was good. I decided to grab my first take-out from this place tonight and called in that order ahead. The food was ready when I got there in 10 mins! The gentleman was friendly and accommodating when I requested for chili oil as well. The restaurant has tables and chairs so one can actually dine in. However, it's mainly for takeout so a lot of people just come to pick up their food or have it be delivered. There is a large parking lot so not to worry. Aside from good portion I was given, I was impressed by the well-balanced proportions of fried rice and garlic chicken/veggies. Some places like to skimp out on the meat and veggies by giving you more rice, but this was not the case here. The veggies were not overcooked and the chicken was soft and tasted fresh. As for the massive egg roll, it was crispy and had good filling of pork and veggies. FYI my friend said that you can switch out the egg roll for a spring roll. The requested chili oil on the side was a great condiment to the dish since I love spicy food. Lastly, the fortune cookie tasted fresh... I was shocked by the poor reviews below, but I realize that the ownership has changed so I recommend giving China King another try and it will prove its worthiness of the crown (haha). Cheshire Connecticut may not be known for its food scene, however, I found Sakana was a genuine diamond in the rough. My expectations were admittedly low going in. My level of skepticism is always high when I see the "Asian Bistro" moniker, as it is frequently used for restaurants to try to appeal to the masses at the expense of quality by having a "jack-of-all-trades" menu that lacks the technical intricacies and mastery required for specific dishes. Additionally, these establishments tend to follow a "cookie-cutter" menu and offer the same boring dishes you can find at every other Asian Bistro. Even when initially walking towards the restaurant, I had my doubts. The exterior of Sakana honestly looked more like a clinic than a restaurant. Once I saw the menu however, my skepticism shifted towards optimism. For a local bistro, they feature a surprisingly extensive wine and cocktail menu, including premium sake options. I was particularly impressed to find toro on the menu; although it's undoubtedly becoming more of a trend in Connecticut, I was nevertheless happy to see it offered at Sakana as well. Overall I liked their sushi selections and everything I ordered was well-prepared and tasted fresh. We ordered a chicken and broccoli for our daughter and found the chicken tender and broccoli perfectly cooked. That may not sound impressive to those reading, but you'll be surprised how many restaurants fail to execute this baseline dish correctly. The service, although pleasant, was probably the only "weak link" of our experiences here. The quality of service was noticeably inconsistent between our two visits, and they would benefit vastly from having a more reliable and experienced front-of-house team to match the execution coming from the kitchen and sushi bar.
