It's been over a year since my partner and I have had this place, but we always think of it every time we pass by the area. This unassuming, family owned restaurant is a must eat for lunch or dinner when you're craving some Chinese that will hit the spot. Best Chinese food in Connecticut. Edamame is fresh and full of flavor. Shrimp are like what shrimp used to taste like in the 80's... gulf/fresh/tasty. Dumplings are crispy on outside with chew on inside filled with tasty goodness---not a drop of oil on the plate. We've had almost everything on the menu and each dish regardless of appetizer or main, is distinct, never salty or overseasoned and they only use the freshest ingredients. What we had: hot & sour soup was neither hot or sour- flavor 3. Pork steamed dumplings very gamey flavor, no sign of scallions, mushrooms or Napa cabbage & outside dough VERY THICK!! Singapore mei noodles rating of 2 because it had those tiny tiny shrimp that are flavorless and very cheap, pork and chicken were VERY SMALL strips, not many. Dish was mildly spicy. The other dish was basil chicken with specks of basil (thus no basil flavor). Sauce was tasty though. Overall average except for those tiny cheap shrimp with the black dorsal track which really should not be used . Get bigger shrimp, clean them up and just cut them in pieces. read more

Me and my grandma have been wanting to come here for so long so we did I got the edamame which was nicely salted and general. Sal was chicken with broccoli and rice. This is not one of those Chinese places with 200 menu choices, this menu is thoughtfully comprised of selections they prepare well. The best Chinese food in CT! Easily the most delicious crab Rangoon I've ever had. And I consider myself something of a crab Rangoon snob, so this is high praise. Our waitress was kind, efficient, and informative. She let us know the sauce and crab Rangoon (along with just about everything else) is made in house, and she took the time to explain all the ingredients that made the sauce stand out. The food is fresh and all flavors were spectacular. The veg in the pork lo mein and kung pao chicken was crisp and not greasy. Everything we tried was flavorful but not heavy or overly salty. I really enjoyed Jia Mei. I was looking forward to eating noodles and they didn't disappoint. Serving sizes were large and tasty. The Singapore noodles were my favorite, flavored with aromatic curry, neither dry nor wet. The beef was tender and juicy in the pad Thai. The General Tso's chicken was sweet and crispy. The dumplings were homemade and the sauce they were served with complemented the beef perfectly. Service was prompt and efficient, starting with a glass of rose wine I ordered, which was mellow, not overly sweet at all. The place is newly renovated and comfortable for sit in meals. Well I definitely made a great choice by picking Jia Mei. The person that answered the phone was very helpful. I had a ton of questions because I have gluten allergy. The food was outstanding. My fault for ordering Pad Thai from a Chinese restaurant, but the sweet coconut milk sauce was no substitute for a fresh Tamarind sauce w/ lime.
