More than 15 years ago I began going to a martial arts school about two miles from Great Wall in North Branford. A friend of mine from the school lived about half a mile from Great Wall. Several of us from the school would often drive up and grab a bite after our long hour and a half classes. I began hanging out at my friends apartment frequently. Only 1/2 mile away, we went to Great Wall often. I had more meals than I could ever count here. I began to come here even by myself, out of my way from my apartment. My apartment was miles away and there was another Chinese food place closer to me, but the food was better at Great Wall. I'd often grab food to go, but also I would eat there in the restaurant. I've probably spent more time eating inside this Chinese restaurant than any other. Times change. The martial arts school closed down. I moved away and traveled for awhile in other states, California, and the Caribbean. Where I live now there are 4 good Asian restaurants within two miles. I hadn't been to Great Wall in YEARS but I was missing it. Since I've been going Chinese food crazy the past 2 months, it was time to go! I ordered General Tso's tofu and Szechuan tofu and took it to go this time. The food is as good as I remembered it! The kid who rang me out looked young. I thought he may have been 2 or 3 the last time I was there, but I can't remember. Time flies. The food at Great Wall is as good as you'll find anywhere. I'll be going back again soon. read more

Glad I was able to find a decent chinese takeout place so close to my house! Food is good, flavors are good, and prices are reasonable. I've tried some other spots nearby and have been disappointed so I'm relieved there is at least one spot near me that is good I got takeout and ordered directly from their website. The general tso's chicken wasn't overly breaded, the mongolian beef had a good ratio of beef and veggies, and the lo mein was the right color. The crab rangoons could've been crispier, but this will be my go-to Chinese takeout spot from now on! While it is not the most amazing Chinese food I've had, it is good for what it is read more

The staff were able to take a quick order over the phone. It was ready in good time. I didnt eat the chicken fried rice, but my family said it was tasty and less oily than expected. I had the broccoli and it was fantastic! The store is small, but there is plenty of parking. read more

Best Chinese food I've had in years. Pork fried rice has such good flavor, Nothing needs to be added. Rice & pork perfectly seasoned. Wonton soup had wonderful flavor, nicely meaty and not too much wrapper. Finally, the absolutely best Mei Fun I think I've ever had. This dish usually requires sauces & mustard to get flavor. This place never disappoints me. Today I was craving Chinese food, but I have to be careful since I'm on weight watchers. I track my food and how many points are in each food I intake. I ordered the chicken and broccoli for lunch. It's on the luncheon special so it's cheaper than dinner. They were more than happy to serve my chicken steamed and vegetables steamed as well. I got white rice as well with no extra charge of being substituted for pork fried rice. They put the sauce on the side for my liking. It was delicious. I will definitely order this again for lunch. Nice family run Resturant (kids helping out).I had steamed chicken with broccoli and brown rice. I like brown rice and this is the only Chinese restaurant in the area that I could get it. I also had chicken rice( brown) soup. Everything was tasty and hot. read more

Food is decent but the girl at checkout ruins the experience. Dont try to to on break because even if you call ahead they don't start it until you get there. Called ahead for egg rolls once & watched them give my order to someone else who JUST walked in then tell me they were out. I think they mostly need to replace that checkout girl. read more

We've ordered here twice and both times the food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced!

My go to Chinese place, Lucky, was closed. Ordered from here instead. Spent 75 dollars on the most subpar Chinese food ever. Pork friend rice was almost white in color and bland, boneless spareribs, bland. Beef lo mein...dry. Fried dumplings were not good at all, over done and not tasty, can LITERALLY smell the "fried" old oil smell on them... Four Seasons had ONE piece of "lobster" meat and was like chewing a dog toy... literally spit it out in a napkin. My kid said "at least the egg rolls were good". Dragon and Phoenix was, at the very least, decent. Will literally drive to another town before I ever order food from here again. read more

Hey, look at this... "General Tso's Bean Curd." I figured I'd take the plunge and try it... god forbid I go for something a little different than the one of six things I usually order from a Chinese take out menu. It was pretty darn good, if not a bit predictable. Lightly fried cubes of tofu, drowned in the same sugary/salty/spicy sauce you'd get with General Tso's Chicken. Packed with side of decent fried rice, it was a solid lunch break. And it was only $4.35... add a can of soda, and that's lunch for under $6. Everything about Great Wall is the average Chinese food restaurant. They have a few chairs and tables to sit but its really a pick up and delivery service. They're super quick and have good hours. Always good whenever I order from them, which is about once a month. A nice feature they have is you can order from your phone or computer, without having to call and talk to anyone (I'm that antisocial--and I'm not apologizing for it). Your food will be ready and waiting for you when you get there and they are always very nice. I normally get the chicken and broccoli and chicken wings. This place has gone downhill over the years. The orange beef is basically all bread had little orange flavor (almost seemed fishy tasting). I requested well done so it would be crispy but instead was given an extremely soggy meal. The orange beef used to be more beefy. I went here a few weeks ago and ordered pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, general tso and wonton soup. This place looks very clean which is always a good sign! I really loved the food -only complaint was that it was missing bean sprouts and didn't have enough greens in the lo mein. I just moved to Branford about a year ago I've been looking for good Chinese food ever since in this area. I drove 5 miles out of my way to the Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in North Branford because of the reviews. The reviews were completely off base this place has the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten I should have known by the egg roll what was to come. I couldn't eat the General Tso's chicken and a pork fried rice at two little pieces of pork in it nothing else was in that yellow rice tasteless. I tried to give the chicken to my dog she would need it does that tell you anything a waste of my time and of my money I don't recommend this place to anyone read more
