They're very dog-friendly and even have a pup gelato for them that comes with a treat. My dog absolutely LOVED that! The flavors we got were really good. I stopped at Lucky Dog Gelato in San Clemente after finding it on Google Maps and seeing the good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. We were visiting from Los Angeles and went out of our way to drive there because of the ratings. When we arrived, we asked if we could taste a couple of flavors before ordering. The employee seemed very hesitant and repeatedly mentioned that they are a small business, as if providing a small sample was a problem. The sample that was given was extremely tiny, and the overall attitude felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. What made the experience worse was the disrespectful tone toward customers who were simply trying to decide what to order. Trying a flavor before buying gelato is very common, and most places are happy to offer small samples. Instead, we felt like we were bothering the staff just by asking. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place. The service left a very negative impression, and unfortunately I would not return. read more

I'm a local and come here at least 3 times a month, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes it even more special to visit. The gelato is truly authentic--honestly better than what I had in Italy. I love that they rotate flavors, but their classics never disappoint. I ended up getting Death by Chocolate and Pistachio. They are very generous with the portions. The chocolate is super rich and chocolately. It's a bit on the dark side, but not bitter. This is perfect for true chocolate/dark chocolate lovers. My friends thought it was a bit strong, but I didn't mind it. The pistachio is very natural and just like pistachio, no artificial flavors here. My friends thought it was very pistachio lol. Both flavors are rich and what I would expect. Love their quality! They have a couple seats and benches available inside and seating outside but not a whole lot of seats. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.
