I was visiting my brother in Seaside from California and decided to take a leap of faith with my second tattoo. I had him call The Lucky Dog for a dealer's choice design with a location of my choosing. While slightly nervous because I knew nothing about the artist, I'm here to tell you that Travis is a gifted artist with a enchanting line style and pop doll collection. Nothing about this tattoo was planned and it somehow ended up matching my first tattoo on my chest. I was blown away by the design when I first saw it, and promptly decided to have it placed on my calf. My only regret is that I can't see it; this tattoo was completed in less than two hours and the attention he put into detail on it in that short time span blew my mind. Travis is affordable, personable, and has years of experience doing this. It's a cash only business; I possibly like this better than my first, and I paid a quarter of the price for it (I'm from California.) I'll be coming back and getting another from him next year, without a doubt. Call and make an appointment because he's quite busy, and walk-ins aren't available. By far the most amazing tattoo shop I've been in came 2 years ago had the best experience and was impressed and have been coming back everytime we take a beach trip and this time when we came back Travis did such an excellent job on my shoulder piece and did a phenomenal job on my boyfriends neck piece obviously he'll need to go in to finish it up but still his fav that he has gotten this will be forever the place that I recommend to anyone who asks for a good tattoo artist. I've got ink. Lots of it. And I'm proud to say that two of my largest, most stand-out pieces were created by Lucky Dog shop owner Bob. I have a very large tree on my foot and up to my knee that Bob drew freehand, then executed in just two sittings. The very coolest part is that he organically incorporated my dad's name William into the branches, features and roots of the tree. It is magnificent. He recently also did a quill and ink well on my forearm, which also turned out beautifully. I live in Portland, but will drive to the coast for ink from Bob. His prices are reasonable and the shop is very very clean. read more

Three weeks later and both my sister's and my tattoo are still very scabby and will need touch-ups, despite proper home care. We both have other tattoos from elsewhere that healed fabulously, but are experiencing the same issue with our wrist tattoo. After some research, I'm guessing that the artist was too heavy-handed in our tattoos and caused more scabbing than necessary. Some of the black line has also faded from intense scabbing. The artist was VERY rushed when it came to fitting us in the last moment on the day, felt a little uncomfortable with that. The artist was nice but I'm just a little disappointed in the outcome of our sister tattoos. read more
