Absolutely feel in love with the place! A great amount of outdoor seating and in door as well. All staff were so friendly and helpful with questions I had. The açaí bowl was amazing! And with a price tag under 12$! It was such a great serving that I couldn't even finish it.

Love this local hippie coffee shop. Their lattes are classic and delicious. Service is fast and friendly even when the line is very long. Love sitting outside with my food and drink and enjoying the beach weather! I had a delicious latte, oatmeal, and blueberry scone

I came to Lucky Llama because I heard they have a great açaí bowl. I ordered the Jupiter Bowl. I asked for no coconut and almond, and swapped it out for granola (not pictured). The açaí blend was very smooth. The peanut butter coconut oil drizzle tasted good, although it turned into a hard shell on the frozen açaí. The portion size was big and very filling! The staff were so friendly and happy to help the customers. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

My daughter and I stopped by Lucky Llama Coffee House and had a great experience. The avocado toast was super good--fresh, flavorfu. The açaí bowl was refreshing and delicious, and the coffee was excellent--smooth and well-made. Perfect spot for a healthy breakfast or a relaxed coffee break.

Online ordering has been disabled for as long as I can remember trying to order online 6months now

Why is online ordering offered/advertised on the website but has never worked it is never available I'm so confused especially since this place a lot of the times has a long line wouldn't online ordering just make sense?

this place is great. baristas are all super nice and get the job done well even when they're busy! as a barista i know how hard that can be :) my coffee and croissant were both great and my vegan mom loved her latte too. the place is cute as well with TONS of seating inside and out and a beautiful giant tree outside. might be my new fav place down here, as i've always gone to brass bird but i think i like this place a bit more....

You can say a tree lead me to discover Lucky Llama Coffee in Carpinteria, CA. The tree in particular is the largest Torrey Pine tree in the world. That beauty is roughly 125 feet tall and girthy at 20.5 inch circumference. As I was soaking in the shower but of the majestic marvel, I noticed Lucky Llama Coffee. The building is set a bit back from the tree. And luvin the stinky cute name and signage. The next morning, I dropped on in to Lucky Llama. The interior is tiny. The seating is mainly the outside patio. The line was out the door but it moved quickly. I ordered a Mayan mocha made with oat milk. Delicious. Ohhh it was smooth and creamy. Chocolatey but not candy bar chocolate tasting, more like quality cocoa. I sat outside and leisurely enjoyed my mocha. Again admiring the Torrey pine tree from afar. The patio had chill, relaxed vibes. It's dog friendly as well. The menu also includes acai bowls, bagels, muffins, avocado toast, bagel sandwiches, croissants, cinnamon roll, and cookies. They baked goods were all gorgeous looking and sitting pretty behind the glass counter. Open daily from 6:30 am-2:30pm.

I came to find this place through a Pinterest search. I came to visit Carpinteria beach for the day & was recommended this spot. The spot is cute & warm. There is ample parking in their lot or the street. There is also indoor & outdoor seating. I ordered the special llama bagel which was 10/10 & the iced Mayan mocha latte. The staff were friendly & open to questions. I recommend this spot to have a quick bite or for a spot to catch up with friends/family. I also loved how everyone would be waking their doggies & having them in the patio.

Cute coffee shop in Carpenteria. I got an iced Mexican mocha which has a hint that f cinnamon in it....it was just what I needed. I would recommend it if you're looking for a little sweetened iced latte. Their cup designs are very cute with a llama on it. I also got a bagel with cream cheese. The bagels looked so fluffy I had to get one :-) staff was nice and they sell merch in there like shirts, stickers and beanies. My SIL was looking for a matcha drink with coconut milk and they had that so nice to see different options!

I stopped in Carpenteria for a quick road trip coffee break; I had planned to go to a different place but it looked so warm and welcoming (and my trip to Peru was a highlight of my life) that I decided to check it out. The establishment is nestled under a historic tree from the 1800s next to what looked like a local boutique. Local families with kids of all ages were enjoying the beautiful Saturday afternoon, as were cyclists and single people. The service was great and the server told me the gluten free cinnamon buns were good. For gluten free, "good" is an understatement. I've tried as many gf cinnamon buns as possible (which is still too few in my opinion) and these are the best ever. They warmed it up for me and the consistency was soft and creamy, not hard like I expected. I saved half for later and even when it cooled down, it was still soft! I tried their specialty, the Mayan mocha and it did not disappoint. The coffee is good quality, as is the chocolate they used. Overall, this coffee shop combines good, gluten-free friendly products with a charming atmosphere. I will definitely bring my friends who enjoy good coffee.

Super cute coffee spot that we enjoy going to every time we camp in Carpinteria. There are açai bowls take a while on a busy day, but are worth the wait. And their Mayan coffee is really really good. The only thing I wish they had was better options for cold brews with cold foam etc, but other than that great quality coffee.

Really cute coffee/brunch shop with a cute little store next door. There's very limited parking (but we parked at a nearby center and walked here). They are dog friendly with tables outside (dogs not allowed inside when ordering). The Iced Mayan Mocha here was really good! It was a little sweet with a nice roasty flavor. The coffee taste was not strong so it was perfect for non-coffee drinkers like me. I got the moon bowl and and it was delicious. I'm not sure what granola they use but it had this saltiness to it that made it SO addicting to eat.

Heard this was the locals fav spot for coffee so had to check it out. There was a line on a recent Sunday morning which was expected. Grabbed a table in back with our dog as the g/f waited to place our order. Cafe Latte was very good and arrived nice and hot. When our Avocado Toast came, it was covered in lemon pepper and salt -- way too much and hard to remove as it was on the tomato and avocado. Would have returned it but didn't want to wait for another one to come out as it took awhile. The piece of toast was rather small for 11 bucks so may try a grain bowl or bagel next time. Atmosphere was lovely next to a very old and large tree.

I Love the Mayan mocha, creamy chocolate goodness. The location is cute, walking/biking area, outdoor seating. No congestion, easy parking. The menu looks appealing, makes me want to try something different every time I visit. I do hit the bike trails near the area and yelp guided me to this perfect spot for my coffee fix. On my trips heading north I will make this a must stop for sure. read more

Mmmmm nothing like a hot dirty chai with oat milk on these cold mornings. They've got a good system goin now to walk up and order then wait on the patio for your drink or food to be called. They get fresh baked scones , bagels, croissants each morning, my favorite is the egg and bacon croissant. So flakey and fresh. Also tried the gluten free bagel with avo and I actually liked it. Gluten free is hard to master so props to them for selecting a tasteful bagel. The staff here usually remembers my name which is cool I like the local vibes of my carp community! Go see Will on the weekends he will make sure to recommend something to replace an item if they are out, that's how I got to try to gluten free bagel. Thanks for the suggestion Will! read more

The last stop on our Avocado Festival/Carpinteria tour and it ended our trip with a delightfully tasty Spiced Cinnamon Latte. Ji-Young, the avid Coffee drinker loveeeeeeeeeeed the drink. She went as far as to say that it was better than any coffee we had the last weeekend we were in Seattle as well. That's sayin' a lot folks. Service was cool and decor was memorable. *Thanks friends. Cute little spot, the patio area was what drew me in and the service was good but my chai tea latte was kinda lacking in flavor. I didn't make any adjustments to it, just ordered it as is and looked like iced milk. I would still go back again to try something else tho since their baked goods looked appealing and I'm curious to try their coffee. read more

Lucky find ! We pulled off the freeway to get a snack on our way up north and found the aptly named Lucky Llama . I had an oat milk latte which was the standard good latte, and the Moon Bowl açaí bowl which was HUGE ! Very good. The avocado toast was a little smallish and simple for the price but the açaí bowls seem to be the way to go if you're hungry. Friendly service and there were tables both indoors and out. read more

Absolutely fantastic coffee. Totally blown away given that it's situated in a small, coastal town. We're talking about the level of Blue Bottle in SF area. The rustic ambience of this place just adds to the slow pace of leisure life here. I ordered the iced Mayan Mocha with oat milk and the avocado toast. The mocha was satisfying, but the espresso wasn't strong. The avocado toast had a generous amount of avocado with delicious ripe tomatoes on top. I would have given five stars, but I needed more coffee to re-energize shortly after my Mayan Mocha. read more

A hidden gem off the main road. Great great coffee. Discovered this place from a local while at a restaurant. It's definitely your place to seek out. Enjoy eating outside under a canopy of trees or inside. Seating is limited. Wonderful play table for children to explore while you have a coffee or tea. It can be a bit of a mad house here on the weekends and they don't have enough outdoor seating, but the coffees and teas are good (I suggest the dirty chai) and the setting is nice. Also, if you are biking in from Santa Barbara or Ventura it is right off the bike path. Pros are that it is right next to a super cool mercantile store so you can browse as you sip. Cons are that though the baristas are working hard, there are so many patrons that isn't the fastest service; also they only have one bathroom/stall (all gender, which is good), so expect to wait in line. read more

Really cute place. I came here for the bowls and was kinda disappointed. We got them to go and after waiting a long time they get brought out and they tell us the they forgot they were to go which is why it took so long but no apology just snark. I guess they just flipped the bowl into the to go container from the for here since all the granola and toppings were at the bottom and the top was just a mess of acai. Decided to give it another shot and the guy at register was pretty rude and laughed at us. Beware they don't have fresh blueberries just dried which was a huge downer. Also their tipping on their "register" is very presumptuous. Their gypsy rose tea is delicious though! read more

This is one of the rare places in Carp that has FRESHLY ROASTED coffee and the knowledgeable staff knows the actual roast date which is rarely more than a week prior. As a home toaster myself I appreciate this a lot! The depth of the avocado toast could be halved.. it's sort of impossible to eat lol. read more

Came here on a lazy Sunday morning during a weekend trip to Santa Barbara after reading about this spot on a travel blog. I was initially turned off by the line that snaked alongside the building well out the door, but was pleasantly surprised with how efficiently and smoothly we moved along. My husband chose the Mexican mocha and I got a plain iced black tea (my go-to drink) and we ordered one açaí bowl and the yogurt bowl. Everything was delicious! His drink was well-made and the iced tea was no fuss and well-brewed. The staff were friendly and generously shared their recommendations. There was nice outdoor seating with plants all around, and it made for a sweet ending to a very lovely weekend in the Santa Barbara area. read more

This may be the cutest coffee shop I've ever been to. My sister and I had breakfast here during a day trip to Carpinteria and just fell in love! I had Fe's Avo Bowl, which was delicious and actually a lot more filling than I thought it would be. Luckily, my sister ordered just the fruit bowl and shared with me. The fruit was incredibly ripe and refreshing, and the addition of honey and coconut added just the right amount of sweetness. Also, the coffee and fruit bowls were presented beautifully! The coffee was also well-roasted and just plain yummy (I ordered a vanilla latte, and again - just the right amount of sweetness!). It was a bit pricey (on par with Philz) but well worth it, especially as a vacation treat. They also have the cutest gift shop, and I bought my sister an adorable souvenir mug - her only souvenir from our week-long SoCal trip! We also indulged in their selection of local honey. This coffee shop is my favorite in all of California. This place has amazing food and the coffee is so amazing! I love getting the Açaí bowls here- there BIG and have a lot of fruit and granola which is the best type! and the bowls arnt over priced like most beach coffee shops. read more

History

Established in 2012.

Our love of coffee and tea, and organic food and drinks was what inspired us to start Lucky Llama Coffeehouse. The idea was conceived almost a decade ago, and the project started in early 2011. We just love our town, and we're hoping to create a place where people can hang out, and where friends we've known all our lives would visit, as well as new friends we haven't met yet. We are lucky to have a great spot for our little coffeehouse - right under the historic Torrey Pine, and it makes a beautiful backdrop. Stop by and say hello:)

Meet the Business Owner: Ryan M.

Ryan ran his dad's surf shop, Rincon Designs, for the last fifteen years or so, and although it was a lot of fun, it was time to try something on his own. He and his wife have two sweet babies, Isla and Lyra, and his daughter Isla was the one to inspire the name of his coffeehouse!

I love the cinnamon flavor. This time, I tried the Blueberry scone, which was warm and delicious. They bake them at the shop every day. The owner and her son are very friendly and nice. I saw their posts on SNS showing them helping local people. I thought it was wonderful, so I wanted to support their local business too. There is outdoor seating, you can have coffee with your dog! There is no parking around the café, so I park in the public parking lot near the beach. Why not stop by this café while you are at the beach or shopping in downtown Carpinteria?

We headed to the back to see if we could order a smoothie since we heard so many great things about them but when we got to the counter the multiple people that were behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us for a few minutes and then I caught one of the guys that was back there looking up at us and I asked if they were still open since it says they close at 7:00. He looked confused and asked another worker "hey, are we still open?" He then told me yes and kept cleaning, I stood there for another 5 minutes or so and nobody came over to take my order or even looked up at us so we just decided to grab a wrap to go. I got a veggie wrap and my daughter got a chicken avocado one. We were both very disappointed with them. They were very bland and tasted like they had been there awhile. We did look around the store and noticed they had a good selection of health food products, supplements and drink options. So we went up to the front to pay and nobody was at the register so again we waited probably close to another 5 minutes and the girl came back in from outside to ring us up. It came up to $33.95 so I gave her $34 at first but then after she punched it in I found a dime and tried to give it to her and she looked at me confused and I said "you can just give me back a dollar" she said no that's okay and gave me the 95 cents for my change. I guess you don't have to know how to do basic math when you work the cash register. Thankfully after all of this the theatre was close by and we made it to our movie on time.

This is a health grocery store, which carries a variety of supplements, snacks, beverages and other food items. When you walk inside, it has the "healthy" smell to it, if you know what I mean. At the very back of the store is where they have a walk-up counter where drinks are made to order. The menu is displayed above and there were so many options to choose from (and ingredients were listed, so you knew what was in it). Almost everything had a little healthy twist to it, so it was like ordering a guilt-free sweet treat! When they make your drink you take your receipt up to the register to pay. And while they were making our drinks it also gave us time to browse around the store. Definitely great if you need some snacks for the road! I left with the Piña Colada smoothie and it was simple, but delicious! The perfect beverage to help me cool down. It's a great store! Highly recommend!

Definitely worth stopping by, even if coffee isn't your thing. I would come back just for that avocado toast!

Instead, I just ordered a 12 ounce cup of Beach Cruiser consisting of coconut chai to go. Super refreshing especially on a hot day. Wasn't too sweet or overpowering. I wish I had stayed to do a flight, but will definitely stay longer next time. So if you are a fan of kombucha, this is the spot.

I absolutely love Lucky Llama coffee. I am sad that I only get to enjoy their coffee on limited occasions, since i no longer reside in Carp. They LL is a cute little quirky coffee shop. They offer amazing quality coffee/espresso and a variety of unique drinks, such as the cinnamon honey latte, which is a must try. Chai teas, which are a favorite of mine, are great here as well. They also offer some acai bowls and baked goods which are yummy also. Nice decor with indoor seating or a nice outdoor patio. Friendly and helpful staff. LL is a little hidden gem that is worth the try. read more

Coffee was decent. The place is nice cute with a good sized patio out front. A large pine tree shades the whole patio most of the day, but with the pine tree comes the birds, and with the birds comes their dung. Make sure yo sit under an umbrella if you sit outside.
