The customer service here is horrible and the food also not so great! My daughter and I came in here on Friday July 24th in the evening to grab a quick bite before heading over to watch a movie at The Alcazar Theater. We arrived 30 minutes before they closed and it looked like everyone was busy cleaning up. We headed to the back to see if we could order a smoothie since we heard so many great things about them but when we got to the counter the multiple people that were behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us for a few minutes and then I caught one of the guys that was back there looking up at us and I asked if they were still open since it says they close at 7:00. He looked confused and asked another worker "hey, are we still open?" He then told me yes and kept cleaning, I stood there for another 5 minutes or so and nobody came over to take my order or even looked up at us so we just decided to grab a wrap to go. I got a veggie wrap and my daughter got a chicken avocado one. We were both very disappointed with them. They were very bland and tasted like they had been there awhile. We did look around the store and noticed they had a good selection of health food products, supplements and drink options. So we went up to the front to pay and nobody was at the register so again we waited probably close to another 5 minutes and the girl came back in from outside to ring us up. It came up to $33.95 so I gave her $34 at first but then after she punched it in I found a dime and tried to give it to her and she looked at me confused and I said "you can just give me back a dollar" she said no that's okay and gave me the 95 cents for my change. I guess you don't have to know how to do basic math when you work the cash register. Thankfully after all of this the theatre was close by and we made it to our movie on time. read more

One of my absolute favorite health food stores. I have traveled all over the country, and wherever I go, I am always on the search for a good health food store... but nothing beats my home town spot, Pac Health! Nathan, the owner, is a great and hard working guy, always in the shop working. The juice bar is incredible. I get açai bowls here at least 3 times per week and they are the best, plus they make incredible sandwiches. But my favorite part about Pacific Health Foods is the grab and go foods in the back by the juice bar! They have sushi, chicken wraps and salads, poke, chicken spring rolls, potato salad and more. This store is always busy and for good reason! Can't recommend it enough. read more

I stopped by for some smoothies for breakfast. I looked them up on Yelp and thought it would be a good choice since they had a few options and I was also looking to see if they had any good late lunch items that could be eaten later in the day for a picnic. Looking at the menu, I ended up ordering Mango Tango and the Hawaiian Special. Both smoothies were yummy and you can taste all the ingredients listed. The mango tango was definitely very nostalgic for me because it reminds me of the Jamba Juice but better. Both smoothies were $7.99 each which was pretty reasonable. They have other options like lunch wraps, açaí bowls and breakfast burritos (I really wanted this but I just missed the 11AM cut off :/) The ordering area is in the back of the shop. Once you place the order, they will give you a slip to go pay in the front. Once you pay, the cashier would stamp it, so that when you pick it up from the back they know you paid for it. And since I yelped this place prior to arriving I noticed they had a check in and get 10% off the bill. I figured, why not since I'm already checking in. When I went to pay at the front, I asked the lady at the register if I could use the Yelp check in and showed her on my phone. She looked confused at first and then proceeds to chuckle and then goes "I guess". So either she didn't know about the check in on Yelp, or she is laughing because I wanted to use it... not sure which but it did make me a little uncomfortable because I felt a little judged by it. This place is like two businesses in one: a health good grocery is the main business, and a little cafe at the back. I only came for the cafe, so I can't speak to the grocery part. But the cafe is awesome! You place your order there, take your ticket up to the counter to pay, then go back to get your food. I got an acai bowl, and it was incredible. Absolutely enormous, very reasonably priced, and so very delicious. Couldn't ask for a more refreshing meal on a hot day. I got added peanut butter, and the amount they added was extremely generous. I'm not a local, but this will definitely be on my visit list the next time I'm in the area. Note that the cafe closes a half hour earlier than the main store. I've been here many times. We have gotten our meat to grill here, highly recommend their pre made smash burgers. Their fresh sour dough bread. The best coconut June yogurt. I've been going to Pacific Health Foods since the day Nathan and his dad opened the smoothie bar in 2008. It is by far, my most visited and favorite place in Carpinteria. I've watched this place grow into an amazingly warm and hospitable crown jewel of our quaint beach town. Everyone who works here is kind, welcoming, calm and happy. The food tastes wonderful. Try a loaf of bread which they make daily. Grab a cold pressed juice, enjoy an amazing smoothie....and ask about the secret menu! They have wonderful holistic medicines. I love the sales they have in frozen foods. The only thing i haven't tried here is the produce and that's only because there is a farmers market each week that i also frequent on the same street. I've lived in Carp for 17 years. I hope this place stays forever and continues to grow. I visit at least once each week but most weeks in spring and summer I'm here multiple times per week. I came here on a busy Saturday afternoon to order a smoothie. I asked if the Carrot Cake smoothie was popular and the barista said yes. I also asked if it was heavy and she said no. I ended up ordering it and unfortunately would not recommend. It grew on me after a few sips, but I would not order again. I think I would've felt guilty throwing it away after paying $9. It didn't have much taste, but I still give this place 5 stars with the friendly staff, generous assortment of groceries and healthy smoothie/breakfast/lunch area in the back. Everything is amazing about this store/ deli/ smoothie bar. Basically they've got everything you could possibly want. The products are hand selected by the owner, who is third generation. Which means he learned from his parents who learned from their parents . It's rare to find such a legacy anymore, and when you do wow!!!!! The care that goes in from having the owner so hands on is pretty unbelievable!! We who live in carpinteria, and those who visit are beyond fortunate to be able to frequent this little gem. I am a hugeeee fan of Pacific Health Foods and wish I lived closer to it so I could visit on the daily. They have so many options for gluten free, vegan, and organic specific foods and their prices aren't ridiculously off the charts! The quality of products are good and you more than get what you pay for here. I have always been a huge smoothie fan and have been coming by here a lot more lately to grab their Menehune smoothie as it's delicious, meal-replacement filling, and packed with fruits and veggies for only $5! They also have many other fruit smoothie, protein smoothie, and bowl options for sale at the back counter. PHF carries my favorite meal replacement shakes (Kate Farms) amongst many other natural teas and coffees to go. They have a wide variety of protein bars sold for a reasonable price. Their gluten free baking section is loaded with affordable products and their vegan substitute options make a lovely excuse for some consistent "healthy" baking. When visiting PHF you can park on Linden Ave or in the lot behind Robitaille's. The staff are generally pretty kind and work diligently. They seem to stay pretty stocked on items I am looking for, other than gallons of water which they have been out of the past few times I've gone. I drive here sometimes from Santa Barbara just to come here and get their Açaí bowl because it's so good!! I always go for the berry bowl but it's more like a huge tub layered in whatever you want to add. I always add a little bit of Nutella on top with coconut flakes and it's the most refreshing meal after a hike!! Plus you get a huge tub for $7 which compares to other restaurants that start at $10 or $11 before you add toppings. This is a cute little health food shop located in the heart of small town Carpinteria. I was greeted with a friendly hello by two employees at different times while I was perusing the aisles. They have plenty of vegan products. Their produce section is really small so don't go there for the produce. But they are well loaded with essential oil's, supplements, beauty and hygiene products, ready-made healthy foods, etc. There's a small juice/smoothie/sandwich bar at the back of the store. As for the pricing, some of the items can be on the pricier side as they clearly don't buy these items in bulk, therefore they don't get any breaks in pricing. But, I was able to find a number of items with pricing similar to what I would find in big name health food stores. I also found a number of brands that I don't often see in other stores, which I'm always happy about that. I especially like to look for snacks, chocolates, and other treats made by cool, crunchy granola businesses. Today, I was able to get three vegan chocolate bars for under $10! I already ate one and it was delicious. Looking forward to trying more things here. Will definitely return to this store when I'm in Carp. read more

Homemade daily soups/closed on Sunday which is the day I'd love them to be open (closed on Monday instead) Freshly baked breads in an amazingly ditselection of styles and flavors and extremely hearty as well! The crew behind the juice bar could use some better communication skills. They seem to tend toward the shy/demure side. Also, since they offer & sell a 32oz juice they need to have that size cup. We received four juices instead but they neglected to put the same ingredients in both of mine that comprised my 32oz. Some better salesmanship needed behind this counter. read more

I visited this store 3 times today. Why? It turns out that Carpenteria is so small we had no choice. This store had lots of good things, healthy for the most part. Prices seemed good. There were no homeless peeps out front which seems un-normal for me now living in SB where there are people-minus-homes sitting and standing everywhere there. Ok so what did we buy? I got Monkey Madness which is a peanut butter protein smoothie and it was freak-tastic! I like anything that has the word MONKEY in it so the drink started on my good side but it delivered monkey frucking pleasure that had me itching for another.
