Absolutely feel in love with the place! A great amount of outdoor seating and in door as well. All staff were so friendly and helpful with questions I had. The açaí bowl was amazing! And with a price tag under 12$! It was such a great serving that I couldn't even finish it.

Love this local hippie coffee shop. Their lattes are classic and delicious. Service is fast and friendly even when the line is very long. Love sitting outside with my food and drink and enjoying the beach weather! I had a delicious latte, oatmeal, and blueberry scone

I came to Lucky Llama because I heard they have a great açaí bowl. I ordered the Jupiter Bowl. I asked for no coconut and almond, and swapped it out for granola (not pictured). The açaí blend was very smooth. The peanut butter coconut oil drizzle tasted good, although it turned into a hard shell on the frozen açaí. The portion size was big and very filling! The staff were so friendly and happy to help the customers. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

My daughter and I stopped by Lucky Llama Coffee House and had a great experience. The avocado toast was super good--fresh, flavorfu. The açaí bowl was refreshing and delicious, and the coffee was excellent--smooth and well-made. Perfect spot for a healthy breakfast or a relaxed coffee break.

Online ordering has been disabled for as long as I can remember trying to order online 6months now

Why is online ordering offered/advertised on the website but has never worked it is never available I'm so confused especially since this place a lot of the times has a long line wouldn't online ordering just make sense?

this place is great. baristas are all super nice and get the job done well even when they're busy! as a barista i know how hard that can be :) my coffee and croissant were both great and my vegan mom loved her latte too. the place is cute as well with TONS of seating inside and out and a beautiful giant tree outside. might be my new fav place down here, as i've always gone to brass bird but i think i like this place a bit more....

You can say a tree lead me to discover Lucky Llama Coffee in Carpinteria, CA. The tree in particular is the largest Torrey Pine tree in the world. That beauty is roughly 125 feet tall and girthy at 20.5 inch circumference. As I was soaking in the shower but of the majestic marvel, I noticed Lucky Llama Coffee. The building is set a bit back from the tree. And luvin the stinky cute name and signage. The next morning, I dropped on in to Lucky Llama. The interior is tiny. The seating is mainly the outside patio. The line was out the door but it moved quickly. I ordered a Mayan mocha made with oat milk. Delicious. Ohhh it was smooth and creamy. Chocolatey but not candy bar chocolate tasting, more like quality cocoa. I sat outside and leisurely enjoyed my mocha. Again admiring the Torrey pine tree from afar. The patio had chill, relaxed vibes. It's dog friendly as well. The menu also includes acai bowls, bagels, muffins, avocado toast, bagel sandwiches, croissants, cinnamon roll, and cookies. They baked goods were all gorgeous looking and sitting pretty behind the glass counter. Open daily from 6:30 am-2:30pm.

I came to find this place through a Pinterest search. I came to visit Carpinteria beach for the day & was recommended this spot. The spot is cute & warm. There is ample parking in their lot or the street. There is also indoor & outdoor seating. I ordered the special llama bagel which was 10/10 & the iced Mayan mocha latte. The staff were friendly & open to questions. I recommend this spot to have a quick bite or for a spot to catch up with friends/family. I also loved how everyone would be waking their doggies & having them in the patio.

Cute coffee shop in Carpenteria. I got an iced Mexican mocha which has a hint that f cinnamon in it....it was just what I needed. I would recommend it if you're looking for a little sweetened iced latte. Their cup designs are very cute with a llama on it. I also got a bagel with cream cheese. The bagels looked so fluffy I had to get one :-) staff was nice and they sell merch in there like shirts, stickers and beanies. My SIL was looking for a matcha drink with coconut milk and they had that so nice to see different options!

I stopped in Carpenteria for a quick road trip coffee break; I had planned to go to a different place but it looked so warm and welcoming (and my trip to Peru was a highlight of my life) that I decided to check it out. The establishment is nestled under a historic tree from the 1800s next to what looked like a local boutique. Local families with kids of all ages were enjoying the beautiful Saturday afternoon, as were cyclists and single people. The service was great and the server told me the gluten free cinnamon buns were good. For gluten free, "good" is an understatement. I've tried as many gf cinnamon buns as possible (which is still too few in my opinion) and these are the best ever. They warmed it up for me and the consistency was soft and creamy, not hard like I expected. I saved half for later and even when it cooled down, it was still soft! I tried their specialty, the Mayan mocha and it did not disappoint. The coffee is good quality, as is the chocolate they used. Overall, this coffee shop combines good, gluten-free friendly products with a charming atmosphere. I will definitely bring my friends who enjoy good coffee.

Super cute coffee spot that we enjoy going to every time we camp in Carpinteria. There are açai bowls take a while on a busy day, but are worth the wait. And their Mayan coffee is really really good. The only thing I wish they had was better options for cold brews with cold foam etc, but other than that great quality coffee.

Really cute coffee/brunch shop with a cute little store next door. There's very limited parking (but we parked at a nearby center and walked here). They are dog friendly with tables outside (dogs not allowed inside when ordering). The Iced Mayan Mocha here was really good! It was a little sweet with a nice roasty flavor. The coffee taste was not strong so it was perfect for non-coffee drinkers like me. I got the moon bowl and and it was delicious. I'm not sure what granola they use but it had this saltiness to it that made it SO addicting to eat.

Heard this was the locals fav spot for coffee so had to check it out. There was a line on a recent Sunday morning which was expected. Grabbed a table in back with our dog as the g/f waited to place our order. Cafe Latte was very good and arrived nice and hot. When our Avocado Toast came, it was covered in lemon pepper and salt -- way too much and hard to remove as it was on the tomato and avocado. Would have returned it but didn't want to wait for another one to come out as it took awhile. The piece of toast was rather small for 11 bucks so may try a grain bowl or bagel next time. Atmosphere was lovely next to a very old and large tree.

First time here, and my first impressions were good. They have a nice location around the corner of a bike shop, and it was raining so one of the employees was helping a lady who was walking her stroller and dog stay dry. Super kind. Came inside, and it's got a nice atmosphere...very "small town, high end coffee shop" vibe. Order my drink, service was friendly and quick. Four stars only because like...the floors and some of the tables were really dirty and it seemed like the staff was just being chatty with each other. Like....it takes two seconds to clean up! Correction: I'm ballsy I guess and did this review while still at the shop. They cleaned it up within 10 minutes.... BUT the coffee was so great! And I'll be back for sure! read more

Really bummed grew up here ! Love carp but had the rudest barista/ cashier who was so disrespectful to my mother who is the kindest person I know . She was condescending rolling her eyes at my mom and walked away from her as she was still speaking. My mother grew up here as well as my grandparents . Our family always try to choose small business over chains but it's hard to say if my mother or myself is ill return . read more

Cute that it's a small family owned situation--that's rad. But an entire staff full of very young, untrained people with tiny attention spans makes it feel like a dorm room kitchen. Americanos are consistently over watered. Also family friendly is great, but sometimes there's like 20 toddlers in that place screaming and bashing toys together--no electronics are safe. read more

I love this coffee shop! It's my go to visit every time I go to Carp. I make special trips from my town (which is about an hour and a half away) just so I can stop here. I always have had good service. I have never had a drink here that I didn't like. The acai bowls are DELICIOUS! And everything is reasonably priced. Their bathroom has always been clean when I have used it and the seating area is nice. A great spot to enjoy a great cup of joe! I will continue to make the special trips because Lucky Llama is well worth it! read more

Ordered two lattes, paid for two lattes and then they claimed that I only ordered one, making me pay for an additional latte that I had already paid for. Refused to believe that I paid for two. Giving it two stars because the lattes were good but otherwise would never come back here. They clearly are super disorganized and workers are clueless. read more

This place makes my toes curl. Really. I love espresso. It could tumble over a waterfall in Hawaii and I'd be right there ... standing right under a foamy ristretto downpour. But I don't live in the land of thunder and flow, so I head to Carpenteria for the next fav ... Lucky Llama. The Lucky Llama serves up a GREAT latte. It's 5 stars for sure. The atmosphere is cool, very "independent coffee spot" and they have a large wooden deck out front that serves as an outdoor patio. In addition to all kinds of coffee drinks the also offer muffins and pastries. I've tried a few. They were all good but I like the zucchini muffins the best. The only reason the shop gets 4 stars from me instead of 5 is that my large to-go order got a little messed up. I thought I ordered 4 lattes but I got 3. Just be sure you know what you're ordering and keep track of it so you don't leave minus a cup of coffee. read more

Awesome spot for a quick breakfast and a cup of coffee! I had an açaí bowl and a kids steel cut oatmeal. Both very good and filling. I drive through carp every day and say every time I pass by I want to eventually go. So today I took some extra time left early and I decided to head over to the lucky llama coffee. With working in customer service I hate being approached when I'm unready so I waited for the cashier to call me over I stood there for a good 2 to 3 minutes with no acknowledgment. I then asked if I could approach the customer service was not there I'm very disappointed and will no longer be going over. read more

I'm so glad that I found this local spot while on my wedding anniversary getaway last month. My husband and I have not ventured out that much since COVID-19, and this was our first adventure away from home. I was happy to find they had a great system for social distancing and cleanliness. Best coffee in Carpinteria by far! Lucky Llama has great hot and iced espresso drinks, tea, and fantastic smoothie bowls. My go-to drink is an oat milk latte and I have never once been disappointed. The atmosphere is nice, perfect for meeting a friend or finding a quiet place to work/study. There is also some cool art, kettles, mugs, and chem-ex coffee makers which make for great gifts! read more

I had the iced Americans and the granola bowl. Good but I needed to add just a touch more raw sugar for my taste. My friend had the peppermint mocha wasn't too fond of it. Sat in the wingback chairs and people watched both inside and out. Nice outside patio but since we were writing didn't want to have laptop in the elements as it was overcast and moist. Nice helpful staff. Really relaxing decor. Clean bathroom. I would definitely come here again. read more

The cashier with the beanie was really helpful and knowledgeable about the different types of acai bowls! This is my first time here and I am sold. The acai bowls are big enough to share for two people so keep that in mind when ordering. Super cute place with amazing artwork! read more

Fabulous spot for coffee and a snack!! Had the avocado toast (unbelievably great) and hot matcha tea.. the best! Beautiful setting, outdoor covered seating and plenty of parking. Staff were friendly fun and helpful! My dad is elderly and hard of hearing, they were sooo patient and kind with him while he was placing his order despite the line out the door behind us. Quick service too.. LOVE this place!! Even bought their T shirt :) Great local spot and just a few blocks off the beach. read more

Like I have said before w/ numerous ratings " where in the hell is the customer service? These trendy coffee houses that have a bunch of untrained kids trying to run them is a joke. Waited for our drinks to be made.... we were outside at a table & waited probably 20-25 minutes. Finally we went in, one of our drinks had to be remade & the other was just siting there watered down. We asked if they were ready & our response that we got was " I can only yell your name so loud" What? Really? How rude! The place isn't that big, and we were just outside at the tables. I don't know.... I'm just shaking my head at this place. Better be careful w/ all your other businesses that you are opening!!! read more

Ordered a latte, dirty chai, and an açaí bowl. The bowl was super yummy, if a little sweet. The fruit they used was ripe, fresh, and delicious. I would order it again, just without the honey drizzle cause it's sweet enough on its own. The drinks were not the best. They were lukewarm, at best. Perhaps their barista was having an off day? Btw, the service was great and their bathroom was clean. Definitely a "try one more time" place. read more

Great local coffee shop and a nice way to support small business. When COVID hit most coffee shops shut down within walking distance to my apartment, except Lucky Llama. I love their vanilla lattes and iced coffees. read more

One of the best acai bowls I've ever had. Pick one up on your way to Santa Barbara or on your way to visit cute alpacas up the street. The place is pretty tiny but plenty of outdoor seating. Don't worry no llamas or their alpaca friends were injured in the making of any coffee, if you're wondering. There are none here but you can pet some at the local alpaca farm. read more

This is a cool spot!!!! 100% for atmosphere, service and vibes! Lots of room for families or just with a friend - indoor or outdoors. The patio is just awesome - definitely a place to hang out and enjoy coffee, foods and good company! Lots of street parking and room to put your bike! I didn't get to try their acai bowls but everyone around me was getting one - and they looked sooo good. Next time! I got a matcha latte and it was yummy! Very well done. read more

A delicious place to get coffee and breakfast if you're in the area. I was passing through the area on the way up to Big Sur and this place came up on my yelp search. We decided to check it out and weren't disappointed! My almond milk latte was delicious and my mom enjoyed her coffee. We also got the oatmeal with fresh fruit, which was filling and so good. It seemed like a good place to get some reading or studying done if you're a local. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be back! read more

Our love of coffee and tea, and organic food and drinks was what inspired us to start Lucky Llama Coffeehouse. The idea was conceived almost a decade ago, and the project started in early 2011. We just love our town, and we're hoping to create a place where people can hang out, and where friends we've known all our lives would visit, as well as new friends we haven't met yet. We are lucky to have a great spot for our little coffeehouse - right under the historic Torrey Pine, and it makes a beautiful backdrop. Stop by and say hello:)

Meet the Business Owner: Ryan M.

Ryan ran his dad's surf shop, Rincon Designs, for the last fifteen years or so, and although it was a lot of fun, it was time to try something on his own. He and his wife have two sweet babies, Isla and Lyra, and his daughter Isla was the one to inspire the name of his coffeehouse!

A croissant is supposed to be a minor miracle of pastry engineering: dozens of buttery laminated layers, a crisp golden shell that shatters when you tear into it, and an airy, irregular honeycomb interior. You should finish one surrounded by enough flaky debris to require a small cleanup operation. This thing was pale, squat, dense, doughy, and almost completely devoid of discernible layers. The interior had all the airy honeycomb structure of a hot dog bun. It looked as though someone had taken a dinner roll, bent it into a crescent, pinched the ends, and hoped geometry would do the rest. There was no shattering crust. No honeycomb. No glorious buttery lamination. No shower of flakes. Just a soft crescent-shaped bread product that had apparently once heard a croissant described from another room. I have eaten spectacular croissants. I have eaten mediocre croissants. I have eaten mass-produced grocery-store croissants that, whatever their shortcomings, at least understood the assignment. This one appeared not to have read the syllabus. So: lovely patio. Potent cold brew. A perfectly pleasant place to sit for a while. But if pastry is the reason you're going, just make a U-turn. I absolutely love Lucky Llama coffee. I am sad that I only get to enjoy their coffee on limited occasions, since i no longer reside in Carp. They LL is a cute little quirky coffee shop. They offer amazing quality coffee/espresso and a variety of unique drinks, such as the cinnamon honey latte, which is a must try. Chai teas, which are a favorite of mine, are great here as well. They also offer some acai bowls and baked goods which are yummy also. Nice decor with indoor seating or a nice outdoor patio. Friendly and helpful staff.
