My "home away from home" coffee shop. I work on a recurring basis in Carpinteria. My very first time working for this client I went in search of a coffee shop and there shining like a beacon was Lucky Llama. Over a year later I still go to the Llama whenever I work here. My go to is just a basic oat latte which they do an excellent job with (smooth, never burnt tasting). The baked goods are fresh and yummy. I'm partial to the olive oil cake . And I'm not a huge açaí fan but they are famous for them and the one time I did get one it was quite good. Sidenote: the location is gorgeous. This little coffee shop will forever be my absolute favorite place to get açaí bowls. Hands down the best açaí bowls I have ever had. I have tried a couple other restaurants that serves açaí and nothing compares to lucky llama. Every time we come here we get the moon bowl and sometimes we get an order of avocado toast m, which is also some top tier avocado toast. I am personally not a coffee fan, but I have heard nothing but great things about the tea and coffee they serve here as well. Got a dirty chai latte here and a drip coffee, along with some baked goods (chocolate croissant, jalapeno cheddar bagel, and almond croissant). The baked goods were great, but the drinks left something to be desired. My latte just tasted sweet and didn't have much chai flavor. The drink could also have had more coffee/espresso flavor. There was only one barista making drinks in the morning, so I had to wait for over 20 minutes for my coffee. Stumbled upon this small coffee shop while working in the area. The coffee was delicious and so was the Almond croissant I had. I really loved the Vibe going on and the Llama theme is cool, something different. It's right off the main street just south of Downtown Carp , just know that parking is limited and can be a bit hard to navigate if in a large vehicle. Whenever I'm driving through Carp, lucky llama is a must. Although the prices of their açaí bowls have gone up, it's still worth it. They are also massive, so ask them to split them in half for you, share it with a friend or lover, and then it's pretty cheap! They have dune coffee which always hits. I've been going to lucky llama for a while and I love their coffee and açaí bowls! The service is usually quick even with crowds. The only downside is the seating and the parking. There is limited indoor seating which can be rough when it's cold, misty, and rainy. But there is a lot of outdoor seating which is nice on a sunny day. For parking, it can get full if it's crowded so you'll have to find street parking. Overall, I would recommend if you want good coffee and a chill vibe! read more

Delicious, high quality coffee. My husband always does drip and I'm more of a latte girl and we both looked at each other and said "wow, this is GREAT coffee." Note, we lived in San Francisco for 10 years and are now in LA area. Neither are short of great cafes. It was so good I am not even docking it state for the long line. The service was incredible, and while I was studying plants for landscaping project, I have in the works for my boss. I accidentally spilled coffee all over the table. Stopped here to get some tea and a bowl of açaí before another engagement. Plainly because I liked the name. Haha. Plus it was located 3 mins from my destination. Tucked in the quaint city of Carpintería, this place has all the charm a small city provides. It just exudes friendliness, coolness and good vibes. Parking is on the gravel road next to the small building. I happened to show up at the time many people did. So heads up, 10 am on a Saturday gets busy. The line however and the delivery of my food was relatively timely. 15 mins or so. I ordered an iced chai tea latte ( but they made two by mistake, so they told me to take the extra if I wanted, ummm yeah! Best chai I've had in ages. Refreshing and freshly made? It tasted like it. I also ordered a moon bowl. Açaí, bananas, strawberries, granola and peanut butter goodness. The bowls are huge so make it a meal or share with two. I've been been a few times with family, and have always found the service and beverages to be stellar. Plenty of covered outdoor seating. Some nice options for the kids (hot chocolate, steamers, including a vanilla almond one my niece likes). Not tried their food yet, but may check it out in the future. Place closes early, at 2:30, so don't make the mistake we've made a few times! Made the mistake yesterday--showed 30 mins after close--but they accommodated us with ice tea, which was a nice gesture. A cute little coffee spot that I stopped by on our way to Santa Barbara. I was met with a long line out the door, but found that the line went by pretty quick. They have a good amount of seating inside and outside on their little patio. I found the coffee prices to be decently priced as well as their açaí bowls. I'm usually pretty particular with my granola, but I really enjoyed the granola that was provided in the açaí bowl and they don't skimp on it! It seemed like it was locally made(?) could be wrong. The coffee cups had cute little llamas on it, which made the coffee much more enjoyable! The only downside is that the cashier that was working was a little bit rude. My new fave coffee place in Carpenteria! OK so I do not live there and I have to admit, I had no fave coffee place there prior to this visit. Now I do! Great coffee (it's Dune, a solid local roaster that has shops in Santa Barbara and Goleta). The mocha was really delicious. Again and I know I repeat myself, but you must get the chocolate right in a mocha: It simply cannot be an afterthought to the espresso. They got it right here, smooth finish, chocolatey without being sickeningly sweet, well mixed and balanced with the espresso. They have a line out the door that includes a lot of cyclists. My partner and I rode up on our bikes and were greeted first by the largest Torrey Pine Tree in existence! It was born in 1888 and is a very nice tree to enjoy an espresso beverage under! Bike parking is plentiful, and it really feels like you are welcome there. They have a selection of acai bowls that looked amazing, but we did not have room in our bellies to try them, so next time for sure. Cute place with lots of seating, you don't get the bum's rush so you feel as if you can really sink in and enjoy your drink. Pro tips for your visit: Hug that tree! Let the bees have the pollen they collected (go get your own, eat a nasturtium!). Enjoy the ocean, you can mosey with your bike or just walk to the beach from here. read more
