Wow the portions are huge, food is flavorful, and our to go order was piping hot when we picked it up. Kids ate up the spaghetti without complaint, adults enjoyed the lasagna, tortellini, and linguini. Each meal came with bread so we happily ended up with a huge bag of leftover toasted buttered bread. The star of the show was the linguini bursting with shrimp and scallops. Worth a train ride from LA for that alone (and a bag of bread). read more

We paid around 40 dollars in total for our meal. We got the jumbo ravioli with added ground sausage and mushrooms added and the steak sandwich with a side of extra garlic bread. The garlic bread is not worth ordering a side of due to how it's just a thin slice of basically bruschetta with some garlic butter and cilantro sprinkled on top- as well there's already free garlic bread that comes with it. The ravioli did not have the extra mushrooms we literally paid extra for (3 in total, yes I counted) but there was lots of ground sausage. The steak sandwich was tolerable, I personally found it pretty bland but my boyfriend liked it well enough. I will say the food definitely lacks flavor, but for the prices it's reasonable sort of. I think you could definitely find better restaurants though that are more bang for your buck. Or, at least don't pick the same choices we did. read more

Got a campsite at Carpinteria state beach. We decided to stop for pasta togo to bring to our little picnic on the beach. Plentiful parking . Guicho's didn't disappoint ! Clean restaurant, Friendly customer service. Wow we were surprised with hefty portions. I ordered the fusilli with sausage , tomato cream sauce. Good prices for good food. This is mostly a takeout place. They have a lot of space for in-restaurant dining but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, plus you're pretty much just eating in a takeout box and tipping for that. The gnocchi is soft and pillowy, the cream sauces are really flavorful. I also had a shrimp pasta that was surprisingly well cooked. I definitely recommend ordering takeout then eat it at home on a plate or walk towards the beach and eat it straight out of the box. read more

The pasta quality is delicious. I asked what was their popular item and was told the shrimp or seas food linguine---and it was spot on! The sauce has a spicy (mild) kick to it so if you are not a fan of spiciness at any level, this is not for you. You order at the counter and staff brings you the food to your table if you are eating in. All is packaged in to go boxes regardless. I find it troublesome (sauce dripping on covers/flicks at you by how you are moving the flaps) eating it from the box with the folding portion in the way... inside the restaurant. Service is minimum since you pretty much clean up after yourself. Not a fan of the tip option when you are paying when you order at the cashier for a self service place. We drive 20 min to carp just for this pasta. Penne w/ eggplant and pesto fusilli are our favorites but have loved every dish we've tried.

Surprisingly good, down-to-earth Italian food. The seafood linguine was better than any I've had in LA. They added just a teeny bit of tomato sauce to the white wine and herbs. That's how to do it. The soups were flavorful and nicely spiced- both the chicken and beef lentil. Only real complaint is that the decor is boring and trendy. It doesn't match the character of the food. I was not impressed. We had 2 pasta dishes and one salad. The dishes were nothing to get excited about. They came in take-out boxes, we needed to ask for plates. The Mediterranean Salad came first with a couple slices of bread. Apparently, the bread was for the pasta, as we had to order and pay more for bread when the pasta arrived. There are no straws and no ice and no soda machine. Each canned coke had to be ordered and paid for, which gets pricey. The manager kept starring at us; I think he was nervous because our 3-year-old was holding the menu and he eventually came over and got it. Stopped by this place for the first time with my husband and children this Saturday. This seems to be a place where you want to do take out. I say this because there was no other customers in there and the manager (or owner) stood around and basically just watched us. It felt very uncomfortable. I will say the reason for 4 stars was because the food was amazing. Very good pasta and good portion sizes. Only other issue was one of the boxes ripped (my fault), and when I asked for a new one to take the leftovers home I was told they don't have to go boxes even though that's what their food is served in. So basically too some up the the story I ordered the wrong pasta . The manager got noticeably irritated and snapped at me . I've never experienced such rude and dismissive behavior at a restaurant before. Mistakes happen -- that's not the issue. The problem was the attitude and the way I was spoken to. Nice, clean, comfortable and a well illuminated place. High points: we visited on a Sunday evening so we had plenty of tables to choose from. Cashiers were nice and very helpful. Low points: i ordered a caprese sandwich which was very sad looking. It only had a piece of cheese, a very thin slice of tomato and half of a basil leave in each side of the sandwich. I ended up ordering another sandwich, the steak sandwich, and shared it with my wife. This one was pretty good in taste, but it could've been better. My eldest daughter ordered the Italian sandwich which she really liked and my youngest daughter ordered a lasagna with meatballs which was good. It came nice and hot!
