This is a definite must-try spot if you are going to visit Carp for the beach or passing through. It looks like a little industrial building but there is a small patio available to sit outside and there are so many cute things in the gift shop for bread bakers, home chefs, social honeys, olive oils, jams and stuff for people that love candles. Their cookies caught my eye but I was also really tempted by the cheesecakes. I imagine their pizzas must be awesome since they bake their own sourdough breads. They also offer organic ice cream. But me and my girlfriends got cookies and coffee. I got an iced lavender latte and a chocolate chunk cookie. Everything was amazing!

Omg the pizza here is amazing!!! Sourdough crust! We biked there and took the pizza back to our campsite. The crust was baked perfectly and they have really delicious pepperoni!

Not a lengthy review because we only stopped here for coffees on our way home from Santa Barbara. Coffees were fine. Freshly made espresso cortado and an iced Americano. Coffees were freshly made and tasty and strong. Perfect! I actually didn't take a picture of the coffees, but I did take pictures of this eclectic little spot. It's kind of tucked into an industrial looking building close to the beach. They've got coffees, bakery goods, pepperoni pizzas and soap and gifty knick knack type items. The young woman who took our order and made our coffees was great!

Stopped by after visiting Canzelle Alpacas. Cute little shop with quick, friendly service with outdoor seating. It's located next to a tire shop, limited parking in the lot & street. Enjoyed their iced matcha latte & tri tip sandwich with sourdough bread. They have honey samples, ended up buying some chapparral honey, other flavors were sage, wildflower & avocado.

Trying this place for the first time. Ordered the margharit pizza added pepperoni. Very delicious. Also had tri tip sandwich with pesto. Bike ride or walking distance away from camping. They also offer coffee, ice cream, pastries and many other items.

I've been going to Santa Barbara Hives since they opened up. A locally owned small business, SB Hives sells locally made, high quality products! Personally, I go there to get their soaps but have purchased many other items for myself as well as gifts for others.

What an interesting little place! Great coffee & treats. Very unique shopping area with a variety of honeys, candles, and small gift items. I enjoyed a great cup of coffee & dessert. The staff was very friendly & helpful.

Santa Barbara Hives is a true local gem in Carpinteria! Their honey, straight from their own hives, is the best local honey I've ever tasted. I'm gluten-free, but their sourdough bread is so high quality that I'm able to enjoy it--hands down the best sourdough I've ever had. The BLT is to die for, and the coffee is delicious. They're open 7am-7pm every day except Monday. Be sure to call in your organic sourdough pizza order--you won't regret it! They also offer catering for your next event. Plus, you'll find local flowers and beautiful boutique kitchen items, handmade soaps, art, and more. 10/10 -- highly recommend!

Thank you for all the treats! Will be back again

I think, no I know finding this treasure was the highlight of our weekend overnight! We came in late Saturday night and direly needed coffee and a lite bite. Do yourself a favor and STOP HERE! This wonderful cafe and bakery is also The perfect spot for last minute gifts, birthday gifts, gifts just because. While you wait for your organic coffee you can browse around the shop. You will probably end up buying things you like, love, and need! Shopping not your thing, that's ok, weird, but ok. You can take yourself to the back and sample their honey and hot honey offerings. Careful though once you taste it's impossible not to purchase. :) Coffee! We ordered two oat milk lattes one vanilla and one oat. Came out hot and strong the espresso comes through beautifully. On the second day we ordered two cashew milk lattes, one with vanilla and honey. Do yourself a favor get the house made cashew milk and local wildflower honey latte. The cashew milk is a little thicker on the tongue but is so delicious with the honey. It's smooth and velvety as well. (Note to self ask if they sell their cashew milk next time.) Pizza! So I have a whole bunch of auto immune disorders which basically make bread a no no, however the gods are merciful and I can enjoy sourdough. The pizza is sourdough!!! AND they have dairy free cashew Parmesan! It's an absolute must to walk over order a pizza and enjoy it by your campfire. Pastries! We ordered the chocolate and plain croissant they were hot out of the oven and I decided eating gluten and dealing with the consequences later was worth it . 13/10 would absolutely do again. It's worth it to ask when these will be hot out of the oven and coming back to purchase then! How often do you get to experience hot melt in your mouth croissants? Breakfast! If you don't follow any of my above advice from this review a least do this. Order the almond butter and honey breakfast sandwich. It will change how you view sourdough. I always thought sourdough was a savory treat. I now realize I have been eating sourdough wrong my entire life. Sourdough was made to be paired with creamy runny almond butter and thick honey. TLDR: order a cashew latte, buy a hot pastry, consume and almond butter breakfast sandwich, order a pizza, and do some shopping. Gluten free and dairy free options! Thank me later!

Look at that marbled bread! It was delish. I'm just sorry I didn't get a photo before we cut into it.

While walking to the local grocery store to get bread to go with our seafood stew, we stumbled upon this place. What a great find. We bought the Charcoal Sourdough that paired so nicely with dinner. SBH will be our new go to when visiting Carp! Bonus- the person behind the counter was friendly! If you're looking for pastries, cheesecake, bread or a unique gift, give this place a shot.

The outdoor seating was super cute with little steel tables and chairs, plus plenty of umbrellas for anyone sensitive to the sun. The menu was simple but had vegetarian options, and they also had a case full of bakery goodies that looked delicious. I ordered the white mocha decaf with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich -- both were really good! There wasn't too much interaction with the staff, but they kept the line moving and got the food out quickly. Overall, a great location within walking distance to shops and gardens that we enjoyed strolling through after breakfast. Definitely worth stopping by!

My parents are older and get cold easily, so we sat next to the fire pit. It turns off suddenly and we request it to please be turned back on as it's overcast and barely noon, and a waitress who hasn't been near us in 20 minutes says she smelled gas just now and had to turn it off. Translation: cheap management saw the sun coming out and wanted to save money. There was no gas smell. So classless. Even when we mentioned it again and asked, the glazed-eyes looking girl gave a slight remix of her "unfortunately umm due to me umm smelling gas umm we are not able to turn it back onnnnn." Is everyone who works here on meds or something? Coffee was terrible and watered-down, and simple premade sandwiches took 20 minutes to heat in a panini press and bring out. Food was very mediocre and my "poached" egg was basically hard boiled. The food tastes much better when you order online, probably because they actually know you have a set time limit to pick it up so they make it fresh and with effort. They just dgaf if you're seated, I guess. Just go to Lucky Llama guys.

It is a communal coffee shop in that making that hopes to allow everyone to "come in and find themselves." His didn't arrive until about 10-15 minutes later, and they forgot the bagel entirely. The server dropped the food off and disappeared. His potatoes were completely raw, the food was barely warm, and the corned beef hash had zero crisp to it. He took one bite and spit it out. We sat there waiting forever just to tell someone because no server ever checked back. Eventually another employee dropped off the missing bagel and immediately ran off again. My husband finally had to walk inside himself to tell them the food was cold and undercooked. A few minutes later they brought the same plate back out, clearly just microwaved. The eggs were now rubber, the hash was still awful, and the potatoes were still terrible. He went back inside a second time and told them to forget it and just charge us for the bagel, coffee, and my breakfast. Even getting the check took another 20 minutes. What's most frustrating is that nobody seemed to care. No apology, no urgency, no effort to fix anything properly. My breakfast was mediocre at best. The eggs and bacon were fine, but the French toast was cold and looked like plain toast, and they covered the potatoes in cheese without mentioning it. After reading other recent reviews, it's clear this wasn't just a one-off bad day. The common theme seems to be cold food, long waits, inattentive service, and management/staff who simply don't care. This place is overpriced, overrated, and unfortunately living off its past reputation. Maybe just stick with bagels.
