Horrible!!!!! So I had been coming to this place for years with my mom to get the deluxe pedicures. A few Christmas's ago (2016) I bought my mom a gift card so she could get a few pedicures on her own time. When we made an appointment for Saturday (3/10) which was also my mom's birthday that is when they informed us they don't take the gift cards any longer because it is a new owner, which was fine I understand we had it for awhile no big deal. This is where it all went down hill. We went to sit in our pedicure chairs and the water was freezing......... so we asked if they could redo the water, and they did and this time it was warmer but not how I would usually prefer it to be. There was no added salts or whatever they put in the water to give it that spa feeling, then we had to wait another 5 mins before anyone ever greeted us at all (did I mention we had appointments). So I had a male doing my pedicure and it seemed like it was his first one ever. Didn't know where anything was, didn't know what stuff to use to get my previous gel polish off, it just wasn't looking good. He finally got my gel polish off after about 10 Mina with this mini drill that kept dying......... I was shocked because they offer gel nails so they should have the equipment to accommodate removing the old gel. He proceed to take the pumice stone and scrub until I thought my foot would be gone......... All in all I didn't want to ruin my moms birthday so I kept quit. He was very jerky and pushy with my feet when moving them up and down in the water. Now on to the polish which he got some on my skin and instead of removing with alcohol or whatever they use to remove gel polish he proceeded to FILE my toe and that is when I had enough!!!!!!!!! I could go on and on but I have a feeling when people read this they will get the point. They have lost my business for good seeing as there are so many pedicure places and I have been treated a lot nicer at them. read more

I love this place. I always get in and seldom have to wait long. The pedis aren't the most extravagant thing but they get the job done and with friendly attitudes. You get what you pay for, ya know. This place is NOT worth going to!! 1st experience there was a mess, made an appt and waited for over 30 min while walk ins were seen almost immediately. When they finally took me, I had one nail tech do half the work and then pass me off to another tech because she "had to leave".. It wasn't that big of a deal at and I kind of liked them, so u short back for a 2nd time. 2nd experience: friend had told me she had bad experiences there with a tech not knowing how to do French tip (basic stuff) but went back anyways. Ended up getting charged 35$ for an unfinished gell overlay. Asked her if she could do an "x" on one nailed and glitter on the other and she said she couldn't do that!!! I've been getting pedicures every 4-6 weeks, with maybe a month or two gap, occasionally, since 2010. When I played football, the cleats must have messed up my feet, and if I don't get pedicures regularly, calluses will build up on three parts, between both of my feet. So I'm very experienced in pedicures. Today, I had the WORST pedicure of all time. It felt like I hired a prostitute that kept trying to upsell me, going through the motions, and watching the clock. Not that I've ever hired a prostitute, to be clear, but I've seen enough movies. I usually expect to pay $30-$40 ish for a pedicure, and I normally tip $10-$15 on top of that, depending on how well they did. This was the first time I've ever left $0.00 for a tip. It hurt me, because I've been in the service industry when I was younger, and I realize how important tips are. I enjoy rewarding great work. Leo is the guy at the front, and he was pleasant, friendly, and somewhat expressed regret that I had a poor experience; which is why I'm giving this a 2 star instead of one. Helen was the individual that did my pedicure, and I don't know if she is having an off day, or in a bad mood, hates her life and wants to drowned herself in the foot tub.. I honestly couldn't tell you. All I know from my one experience at Lucky Nails is, you'd be better off trying to get a pedicure at 7-11. No disrespect intended, but I look forward to and enjoy pedicures; they're a luxury that usually feel very good and relax you... and this fell short on every metric that you can judge a pedicure by. Choose lucky at your own risk, there might actually be someone there that cares about the work they do and enjoy pleasing the customer. Probably won't be back to find out though. I guess maybe I'll go back to Highland Nail, which is up by Galena High School. I don't live in South Reno anymore, so it's a short drive from the Northwest... but after that wretched experience, it seems worth it. read more

I rate this a zero star, I once got my nails done here and were so thick and uneven. I got angry even more when my sister came back the other day and said they did this to her nails. Clipped them off, yanked them, once they weren't coming off, they soaked it in acetone. My sister said it was painful and the nail lady said to go home and put Neosporin. DONT GO HERE!!!!! read more

I had been here a few times before, many years ago, and decided to give it a shot after not seeing them for about ten years. It was a busy Saturday afternoon when my friend and I decided to stop in for drop in pedicures. First thing I noticed was the updated decor, the ambiance is MUCH better now than it was ten years ago. They even removed a wall to make the place more open and inviting. After putting our names on a drop in wait list, we only waited for about ten minutes for seats next to each other, so they had a really good flow going Next comes my favorite part... HK is a miracle worker. She noticed my nail was pretty messed up. I stubbed my toe about 2 years ago, and it stopped growing as quickly as my other toes nails. She explained everything that was going on, step by step, and cut my toe nail down as far as she could took out all the nasty fungus that had built up, then rebuilt my nail with gel! No other nail tech has ever attempted this, or even tried to explain what was happening with it. Doing this took about half an hour longer than my friends appointment did, but it was so worth it! I already have my next appointment with her and am looking forward to having a nail tech who really cares about the health of my toes! I do wish they would serve wine or champagne, but I also can just bring my own in a sippy cup :) read more

I was referred by a friend to go here and make an appointment with V. I paid $40 for a gel manicure because the cats eye was an additional $10. I went on a Saturday and by Wednesday two nails chipped at the tip. By Friday another nail had chipped. Even though I was annoyed that they chipped so fast, I know the industry standard is that they will replace them within 3 days for free, but my work schedule would not afford me the time to go in until the weekend. I went in on the following Sunday and asked if I could pay for the three nails to be repaired and I was willing to pay. They told me they could not repair them. They would have to do a full manicure for $25. I said the other nails look fine and I have an appointment in a week to get them done for New Years. They refused. Despite the poor reviews, I took a chance and went in for a mani-pedi, and essentially all I got for a manicure was some poorly cut fingernails. The technician barely filed my nails, and what she did do was terrible -- totally uneven and jagged, and didn't clean under the nail. My cuticles were still a mess, and she hardly buffed them. EEWWW EWWW EWWW! UGH! I swear, these people still surprise me being open today! They have a pretty ridiculous pricetag, considering the job and quality of their job. It isn't the BEST in town, although it isn't the worse either, and this is comparing them to the WalMart nail salons... This lady talked me into getting mylar on my fingers. For those who are not familiar with the product, it's basically glitter that's holographic. Pretty it is, but for a set that had about 6 purple mylar glitters on it that only lasted for 2.5 weeks and costed $65, I don't think so! I know that most asian people in salons talk their ISH but I've never been to one where they degrade fellow employees because they weren't ASIAN. Being Asian myself, I'm pretty used to ASIAN mannerisms and I know when they're not being nice... Well, because this NON-ASIAN lady did my pink and white gels (full set) I tipped her more than the typical lady who did my nails. Although she was quiet, she concentrated on each nail like they were new borns! :D And most importantly, they lasted me over 3 weeks! UH-mazing! :D I would never go back to this place because of how they treat their customers, their coworkers and the simply put SHADYNESS of this business. Tsk tsk. If I could give this establishment no stars I would. I took my daughter and four friends here for part of a 16th birthday spa day. I made the appointment for the 5 of us a week in advance and called to confirm 2 hours before the appointment. We arrived 10 min before our appointment, they seated us 10 min after appointment time and proceeded to start and finish 2 of the four girls in 15 minutes. Let me repeat...the pedi itself lasted for 15 min. The other two girls were all done in 25 minutes. My operator used a "cheese grater" on my calluses when I asked if they have a pumas stone or course file that could be used to buff the calluses, which is a huge state board no-no. I myself am in the beauty industry and have been for 20 years . I've experienced many pedicures at many establishments and this by far was the most disappointing service I've ever received. I expected to be in the chair for at least 30-35 minutes although every good pedi I've ever had was approximately an hour long with soak and dry time. Had I received even the minimum expectation I would have been satisfied and tipped well. I hope the owners and operators of Lucky Nails take this review into consideration and make the appropriate changes in their level of service because at the end of the day it will be their livelihood that is impacted by offering this level of service. read more

During my mani she kept looking everywhere except at my nails. Seemed totally bored. $18 - really? Now for the waxing; she said $25 and I said ok - first of all there is no light above the bed, so not sure how they can see what they are doing. She only did one strip on each side of my top lip. I came from out of town and desperately needed a pedi. I tried looking up places before my arrival but kinda randomly ran into this place when we were looking for a PetsMart. (This location is near a Safeway and Kohls in a big shopping area.) The staff is courteous and I like that its spacious and relaxing. Not a lot of chatter amongst coworkers and you could actually relax and hear the water bubbling. The place seemed clean and comfy. The massage chair needed some work though as it didn't do anything for me but the actual pedi was nice though pricey. I can get pedi's for 20 bucks around my home so 30 was a tad much I thought. I already had a mani done a week prior so they didn't pressure me to get a mani and suggested a polish change instead. That was nice not to get pressured to spend the extra money and they did a good job on my nails even without the mani experience. Overall it was a good experience. I felt relaxed and thats the main thing. I also liked the fact that I walked in and got service right away which doesn't happen that often! I have been going to this place since it opened. It is sad to see businesses decline in decor and service. I notice less options for nail colors. The place is probably clean but the clutter, along with the wear and tear throws me off. What was particularly disturbing is the decline in the quality of work I received this last trip. I had a mani & pedi. I thought it would be ok to do the gel mani on my lap while getting my pedi. But realized this was for the technician rather than the customer. It was a hurry up & get out scenario. What if that gel heater (whatever you call it) fell into the pedi tub? Not to mention the way this device was sitting on my lap was not good for the quality of the work done on my nails. Easy to smudge the nails. Without getting into too much detail. I could have done this level of work on my own, that is not why I go to an establishment to have my nails done. I will now go somewhere else, I am going for ambiance and quality. Lucky nails has always been my go to spot whenever I felt like getting my nails beautified. They are a bit on the pricier side, but you pay for quality, service and friendliness. Nelly did my nails for awhile, and she is very precise. She always made sure my cuticles were trimmed back, my nails were filed thin and they weren't thick or lumpy. I always watched her sanitize her tools so I never worried about contracting a funky nail disease. Due to my insanely busy schedule, I stopped going to get my nails done for awhile, but today decided my hands needed to look like a lady again and not a lumberjack. I called to see if they had any immediate openings and a very nice girl answered the phone and squeezed me in for an appt. with Yan. I was stoked! Yan greeted me at the front desk and walked me over to her station. She listened to what I wanted and got started quickly but thoroughly. She is very nice, and struck up casual conversation. She filed, polished, cleaned and sculpted my nails to obvious perfection. And it didn't stop there! She got the massage oil out and gave my forearms and hands the best massage! What a surprise. Since it was Mother's Day weekend, they were also offering complimentary wine to the mothers. I am so impressed with my nails, the facility and Yan, I can't wait to go back! The technician did a good job on my pink gel fill (hands). I also got the "deluxe" pedicure ($40). The regular pedi is $30, which seems a good deal. The deluxe pedi was nice.
