Located inside the Reno Town Mall, the location is older and has character to it. It's honestly such a cute way to enjoy something that's still preserved from such a time ago. But just be aware, the area seemed sketchy and there seemed to be lots of druggies passing by or attempting to enter the building. That being said, there is a security desk at the front entrance and most of the shops seem to be quite peaceful and relaxed. But you can definitely tell there's a reason to be aware of your surroundings more than normal. As you enter the front, the nail salon is located to the first hall on the right. It's located across the wedding dress store. It's cluttered, older, a little outdated, but honestly it doesn't bother me. I think it's super adorable, it's a small business and honestly very fairly priced. I called ahead to make sure they were free to do a mani+pedi. They finished two people on the chairs and I sat in the third. Kim did my service. Some things that popped into my head, I was a little concerned about the tools sitting in a cup. The tools may have been cleaned, but was the cup cleaned? The caddy she used looked a little unclean. The pedicure and manicure, honestly it was probably one of the least detailed services I've ever had in a nail salon. I attached photos which I'm dreading because I have wide feet and non too feminine hands lol. But the nails weren't cut evenly and were not filed down evenly. Lots of cuticles were not clipped. I was charged $40 total which is cheap imo, I opted not to get polished because I'm letting my nail beds breathe for a couple months before the summer months. I tipped $20. Anywho, a better job could've been done, at least the minimum of filing the nails evenly and cleaning up the cuticles. Besides that, things to note, it seems like they have a lot of long time regulars that really care about them. They are very sweet people, but they should definitely work on doing more quality work, meaning, at least doing the minimum. Which I would've been completely fine with giving 5 stars for. But seeing my hands and feet after, I definitely won't be coming back again. I'm wondering if the other technicians are better? Besides that, it's really affordable in today's market of mani+pedi but that means you're getting less than minimum of a clean up. read more

Do not, I repeat do not come here. I spent 2 hours sitting in the chair for an acrylic fill and I've never had nails done this horribly in my life. I left crying. I wasted my money. The quality of my nails are despicable. They never even used a top coat. Just gel. The gel lamp was cheap and didn't cure properly either. I am so upset. read more

This was absolutely the worst nail experience of my life. It was quick and dirty which are the last things I want from a mani pedi. The woman doing my nails was Kim and she cut my nails after she painted them (?!?!?). There was no filing so my nails were jagged. After she applied lotion for a half hearted massage, she handed my a paper towel to blot myself dry. I am truly in shock. The worst part is how badly my nails looked afterwards, as if a child had done them. It was an awkward experience and it makes me question if this woman is even trained. I also wonder about how clean the whole place is. Kim's own nails were almost falling off and it was honestly so gross to look at. It seemed they refused tools without any cleaning in between guests. The lady who did my pedicure was really nice but my pedicure was so horrible. I did come in at 6:15p and closing was @7:00pm. First of all she took all my gel nail polish by filing it off. I usually have my gel polish wrapped in foil and with acetone. Although I soaked my foot, I did not get a quality pedicure. The callous from my heels are still there. I did get no treatment for my toe nails after she scraped my gel nail polish off. She just started to polish my toenail with gel polish. When she was finished it looked so horrible I just wanted to cry. All she said was she would put another coat the next day. I asked her to redo the polish. It looked like I put white out on my nails also I complained about the polish that was still in between my skin and nail. She said when I showered the polish would eventually come off. She asked me to call so she can fix tomorrow I will never go to this nail salon when I am in the area again. I do come to the Reno area monthly. read more

Sadly I'm only giving 2 stars because the lady that did my pedicure was very very sweet. As for service it would have been 1!! I wish I could've have given more stars but as I was sitting in the chair while the lady was doing my pedicure I noticed she was doing it without latex gloves bare hands (I am healthy and so are my feet but I never seen that before) and then she kept walking over to check on another clients hands (she Previously did before me) touching their hands etc... made me question the sanitation?she continued to work on my feet and never once washed her hands as for the polish part the phots speak for themselves... even after I let her know while she continued to just layer and layer the gunky polish she chose to put on my toes. One of the worse pedicures I've gotten in my life - massage was her nails digging into my leg and feet and nail shapes are all uneven and some are not filed so they feel sharp! I had my first pedicure a few months ago and have been going to this place the last few months. It's a small mom n pop shop and 'Yen' who owns it, does an amazing pedicure. I have some rough toe nails and from the recommendation of a friend who has been seeing Yen 10+ yrs, she was telling the truth. My toes feel FABULOUS all the time now. Okay let me say this... the ladies were super nice!! And welcoming, that's the only reason for the two star, unfortunately the work did NOT match. My nails fell off within one week, the acrylic powder was gooey once wet like it was old, all of my nails were glued to my fingers when she put glue down. Also, I asked for a specific image on their site & She said they actually didn't do the images on their site it was just added for advertisement... soooo that's real false advertisement!!! I was not happy about that. The nails are $40 for acrylic but since I opted for a gel polish she told me it was an additional $10... which ok I understand but all she put on my nails to try to "match" the image was a clear sparkle and that's it... oh and only one coat... my usual nail guy adds jewels even and art and color for $55, unfortunately he was on vacation and I had to find another place. NEVER EVER go there for mani/pedi, unless it's the last one available on the planet Earth even then, I feel like you may be better off not doing it at all or doing it yourself ... in fact, Reno is the first place I saw man doing nails. Since when (???) this is something man became good at???? Prices at this place are outrageous for this quality. I think girls on the second week of cosmetology school would do WAY better job with the nail polish. I have no idea how this place is even in business??? So I came in with my sister for a manicure and pedicure combo. The place isn't very big. They have spa chairs and I am not a fan of it anymore. I had caught something at a nail salon I use to go to all the time in Arkansas a few years ago. I had to get it checked out by a doctor and it took a couple months for it to be treated. Ever since then, I stay away from nail salons that uses spa chairs that have jets. Apparently, bacteria stays in the jets if not cleaned properly. *shivers* Since I wasn't interested in getting a pedicure anymore I just got a manicure and a polish change on my toes. The lady who did my manicure didn't talk to me. I didn't mind because my sister and I were talking up a storm anyway. The lady did do a good job. She shaped my nails the way I like them and cleaned up my cuticles and nails. She also massaged my elbows to my fingers, and it felt really good! I think that was my favorite part. First, the shop is disorganized and incredibly dirty. My gut told me to leave, but everyone we called in town was booked. I should have listened to my instincts. I am not very girley, and as such, when doing girley things, I do not expect a lot nor do I wish to pay a lot. I am a big fan of pedicures lately mostly because I like it when someone rubs my feet and boyfriend is no good at it so I must get my fixation elsewhere. However, I do not wish to pay $45 an hour for someone to paint my toes. This is simply ridiculous. In Tahoe, everything is expensive and thus, before I jumped on a plane for vacation, I stopped off at Hong Kong Nails to get an inexpensive pedi. For $20, it was perfect. The woman didn't try to talk to me, there were tons of crappy People magazines, and she gave a great rubdown. The pedicure wasn't quite perfect, but for $20, I really just want it to be better than I can do it and calming. It was. They put your feet in a sterilized little tub that shakes, which I think is a west coast obsession with not filing away dead skin or using big recycled chairs with tubs. After a full week of hating my nails (rough, scratchy & looked awful) .... I went to another salon to try to fix what they did at Hong Kong Nail Salon. ... I found out that they had really put on my nails was acrylic, not gel ... and my nails were absolutely ruined by this place. After thinking about it more ... I woundn't send my worst enemy here! Previously, I wrote: I thought I'd try this place out, as I'm looking for the best quality inexpensive place to have simple pretty gel nails done. I like to get a natural french manicure with a tiny bit of sparkle to it. I went to the Hong Kong Nail Place in the Reno Town Mall today (May 21, 2009) and am sad to say, I'll never go back again. They were very nice sweet people. My nails on the other hand ... do not look pretty to me. I can see the lines from a previous nail appointment a couple weeks ago and it looks terrible. Not only that but the sparkles she put on the white parts of the tips have made the nails feel rough and sandpaper like. And to add to this, when I left I had all sorts of the glitter bits stuck to me around the nail & under the nail. Just not a professional job. So I'll continue my search of a nail place that does a good job & is a little less expensive than most. I do not recommend this place unless you're going to do something very simple like ... just straight nail polish, they might do that well enough, who knows? I love coming here. Yen is my girl and she is very experienced. I get gel polish with French tip and she always shapes it perfect and even on all my nails. It is a small salon, and a little older looking but I like that. You cannot beat the price anywhere in Reno and I have never been really happy with other salons. It lasts at least two weeks when Yen does mine. 2 days from some others.
