I wish we would have just skipped the whole Cat's Meow Inn months-of-waiting-only-to-be-dropped ordeal, and just called Jan first. Live and learn. Jan is the very gracious and kind proprietor of the Cozy Cat Lodge, Kailua. Within minutes of The Cat's Meow dumping us on short notice, Jan had put our minds at ease. With basic vet admin details already attended to we were able to drop our kitty off the next morning and make our flight. Cozy Cat Lodge is open and airy, with comfortable, individual enclosures within a secure, screened, well-protected area. At the foot of the Pali, in a quiet, nice neighborhood, it's open to fresh breezes and the sounds of birds. Jan is easy to talk to, professional, on top of the details, very kind, knowledgeable and is as much in love with cats as we are with ours. I didn't worry about our cat or her care even one time, even on this last extended visit out of the country. And I'm a very nervous cat-parent. I'm a loyal customer!!

I contacted Cat Lodge owner, Jan, by email and she was prompt to call me the next day. Before dropping off my cat, she arranged a time for me to stop by and check out where he'd be staying. The Cozy Cat Lodge, on a quiet street in Kailua, is on Jan's lanai (sheltered and protected from the elements) so the cat guests have fresh air and can bird watch. Cats have spacious 'suites' with cute names; my kitty is staying in the 'Blueberry Suite' and he's got both a garden and pool view. The suites and areas for the cats are well taken care of, there are no disturbing smells and their litter boxes and eating spaces are clean. She had a number of cat guests when I visited and they all looked at ease with their temporary home. If you're boarding more than one cat, Jan places them in a bigger suite. The suites give them ample room for rest and play. During the day, Jan lets the cats into the playroom individually (or together if they're from the same family). The playroom has cat condos and chairs for playing or lounging. Jan inquires about feeding instructions (you supply your own food) and she gives the cats treats at bed time. And, she's not setup for visits, but she let me come by to check on my cat since he's on an extended vacation (15 days) and I miss him dearly. I was stressed out about leaving my beloved cat in the hands of a stranger but after my pre-visit, drop-off and visit during his stay, I'm confident I've left my baby with the right boarding company. And all of this comes at the low fee of only $25/day, far below the other boarding facilities in Honolulu who offer less, have several restrictions, and charge a far heftier daily fee. I am so grateful to Heather and Jamie for their amazing accommodations, high standards, and superior customer service and hospitality for Hana. The only reason this isn't a zero-star review is because our cats came back completely fine both times, and your husband was actually pleasant. For professionalism, however, you get negative 4.7 billion stars. This goes far beyond the uncomfortably long hostage situations you disguise as "information verification." Back in March, we booked you for a month-long stay in June 2026. It was close to $2,000--not pocket change for us. So imagine our absolute bewilderment when, exactly two weeks before we were set to leave the country for a month, you asked us for a $1,500 loan. What a wild, unprecedented business model: soliciting a Paycheck Protection Program loan directly from your own patrons. We aren't here to keep your business afloat. I actually know exactly what the money was for, but here's a thought: maybe just raise your prices? Though, honestly, I find it hard to believe anyone is going to pay a premium to listen to you babble. After a long discussion, we decided we couldn't fund your personal requests. You assured us it wouldn't be an issue if we declined. That was after two separate phone calls begging for cash, during which you actually offered to "just run our card on file." You know, the emergency credit card you required us to leave with you. The sheer audacity to suggest violating our financial trust like that is staggering. My partner was understandably stressed as our departure grew near, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt because I try to trust people. Then came the barrage of six or seven texts still chasing the money. It was desperate, unhinged behavior. Predictably, exactly seven days before we left the island, you canceled our reservation. Fortunately for us, your behavior was so alarming that my partner had already canceled that credit card and scouted your competitors. One of them took us in last minute. If you want to run a business instead of a predatory text-thon, I suggest looking up the definition of boundaries.

We decided to try Cozy Cat Lodge in Kaneohe for a few days, and we are really glad we did. The place is a little hard to find at first. Near the entrance there is a three way fork. The gate on the left leads to a farm. You take the middle road, which is a dirt road. Cozy Cat Lodge is the second house on the right with the Cat Cozy sign on top. The owner, Nani, had a three tier cage so that our three cats could be together, but still have their own space. She also added boxes inside, which our cats love. Our renovation took longer than expected and we had to change our cats' stay with Nani a few times. She was very quick to help us each time and was very accommodating. The rate is $25 plus tax per cat per day. I think this is very reasonable. She also offers after hours pick ups for a small fee. Just make sure your cat(s) have all their shots and flea medicine up to date beforehand. Our cats were well cared of and now we know where we will bring them the next time we need a sitter.

These accusations were hurtful and unprofessional. Support of Expansion We want to clarify that we have never been unsupportive of her business expansion. As an entrepreneur myself, I genuinely celebrate growth within our local community. Supporting local businesses is especially important here in Hawaii. Our concern was never about expansion it was about a personal invasion of privacy that made us uncomfortable and unable to maintain trust within our home. Passport & Privacy We have video surveillance showing that more than just the back of a passport was visible. The passport was opened and viewed. Regardless of intent, a passport is a private legal document containing sensitive personal information. It does not pertain to dog walking services and should not be handled or examined by a service provider. Refrigerator & Freezer Our surveillance also shows our refrigerator and freezer being opened unnecessarily. A personal food item fell out, was used to cool down her face, and then placed back into our freezer. There were no personal ice packs present only our food items. This was unexpected and inappropriate. "Hoarding" Comment We appreciated that chewed items were removed that day when our dog chewed up his slow feeder bowl. However, being publicly labeled as "hoarders" is inaccurate and damaging. We had storage containers stacked in a room partially used for storage something common in many Hawaii households where space is limited. This does not constitute hoarding. We maintain our home responsibly. Service Length & Charges We reviewed our app conversations again and found no direct communication indicating a change in service length. We did miss a community group post mentioning rate increases. While we understand that rates may change, we were unaware that our scheduled time had been reduced. Had a price increase for a 30-minute session been clearly communicated, we would have gladly accepted it. Refund & Account We have not received confirmation or documentation of any processed refund and would appreciate a receipt for our records.Our account still exists within the app and prior conversations remain accessible. The app was simply removed from our phone once services were discontinued. The review was posted after waiting several days without a response. She also had our phone number but did not reach out directly. Reviews Clarification There were no coordinated or duplicate reviews. One review was posted on Google and one on Yelp by the same individual. No multiple accounts were created. A Google account was created solely to share this experience, as this was the first time we have felt compelled to post a negative review. Grief Statement We understand pet loss deeply and would always extend grace in that situation. It was stated that certain issues were due to grieving and needing time to spend the last moments with a senior pet. We later learned through those who knew her, as well as publicly available posts that were shared with us, that those final moments had actually taken place 5-6 months earlier (March/April), not during the month referenced. We would have responded with empathy and understanding had the timeline been accurate. However, the discrepancy left us feeling confused and hurt, as the explanation did not align with the information that was publicly available. We did not want this situation to escalate.
