Just a warning for folks that shop at this location. On Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at approx 6:30p my daughter saw a rat shoot across the floor on aisle 5 and jump onto one of the shelves (we were on the phone with each other when it happened). She was very frightened. She alerted one of the store clerks who was just as scared as my daughter. My daughter pointed to the shelve the rat jumped on and the clerk took a picture. I notified Contra Costa County's Environmental Health Department. I'm not certain what follow up will be done but shoppers should be cautious while shopping there. read more

Went in and needed help finding a specific item from the meat section and was rudely welcomed by a bald white man behind the counter(maybe the butcher). He refused to help me understand exactly what I was searching for and told me he only had what's out infront. What is it with Lucky stores and the weird, disgusting smell they all seem to have? Yes they are well stocked. Yes the fresh produce is great. Prices aren't bad, either. But the stench is something that can't be ignored and yet dozens of people are shopping and not one has a wrinkled up nose like me. Lucky has always been my go-to local grocery store when I lived in Hilltop. I mean, there was always the option of Grocery Outlet or Trader Joes but there was just something about this Lucky that I enjoyed. The aisles are always clean and neat, and the staff is always helpful. I want to bring light especially to one of the baggers, Sam (who is a major cutie btw). Every time I frequented the store, he always noticed me and was friendly. He always greeted me (Yes, I went that often) and he always had something humorous to say that I LOVED. Ok ok, I may be crushing but I'm leaving this review today because I recently went after a long while and coincidentally, he was there! So much cleaner than the Safeway I live next to, though I feel like the general selection of things, especially bread, is a little lacking. Yay for self checkout! There aren't many grocery shopping options in Pinole. Aside from Trader joe's, I usually shop here since it's close and seems cleaner than Safeway. I've never had a problem finding what I needed grocery wise, but selections are small. Customer service is where I have a problem with this store. It's pretty much zero. I'm never greeted with a smile, and there are never enough lines. A couple weeks ago I got in line..one person in front of me. When the clerk finished with that person, someone walked up in front of me and bought a newspaper. Ok, fine. But at least acknowledge the fact that you let someone cut on front of me. I return a few days ago, and I've got my 4 yo with me, and a cart full of groceries. No bagger was assisting, so I was doing what I could and loading the bags into my cart. After the checker finished bagging and handed me my receipt he decided to start ringing up the person behind me instead of actually finish helping me load my cart. I hate this store. Employees need to be trained in proper customer service. read more

This is the closest grocery store to where I live, but I only go there when I have to. There are several blown out lights in the parking lot. It would be dark even if they had bulbs in all the parking lot lights because the lights are dim to begin with. I recommend limiting your evening visits here. The checkout lines are often loooong! Really long! They really should higher some more people. This is ridiculous. If you are looking for something, don't bother looking for someone who can point you to the right isle. There are rarely any people around to help. Again, they have a staffing problem here... On the bright side, they always seem to have enough of everything. The shelves are full. The staff that they do have are friendly. This is the only reason they get an extra star. read more

This is twice now I've purchased children's juice and it's terribly out of date. What's happening at your store that you can't properly regulate and FIFO products? This is either an issue with your clerks stocking the shelves or a higher up Management issue, ordering too much stock than required and trying to pass off the old products to cover your mistake. Also, have you tried finding anything in the store lately? Can't find something? Too bad. No one is there to help. I kept going to this store because it's the first place I ever worked as a teen and it's my hometown store and I wished for better. Didn't get it. :( read more

We just came from Lucky's to buy some groceries and we were not given a receipt because they ran out of paper in the middle of the transaction and their system won't allow them to reprint receipts. We didn't receive the original one in the first place! I think their inability to provide us with a receipt should be illegal...just sayin'! read more

I'd like to give this place one more star but the customer service here is hit or miss depending on the person your "lucky" enough to find. The people that work in produce are typically alright. I would say about 60% of them are helpful. My issue is with the butcher shop. I stopped by last weekend and asked for some t-bones to be cut an inch thick. I didn't want 20, I wanted 2 but I felt as if I was putting the butcher out of his way. Maybe I was, maybe there is a specific time the butcher shop closes but I wouldn't know cause I wasn't told nor did I see a sign. It was around 5.45 PM. The butcher gave me attitude and went to the back area. He came out with pre-packaged steaks which were around 3/4 inch thick. He told me I could take these or come back the next day. I wanted the steaks for a bbq for later that night. I think it was a rude thing to say. Dude you're a butcher this is what you do. Anyway this is one example of the sorry attitude people have here. My thing is this, I bet you there are several real butchers without a job that would love to cut a customers steak to order. read more

Compared to other Lucky Supermarkets I've been to, this location seems to be more drab and empty. There isn't really anything wrong with that, but it makes me want to get in and out of there as soon as possible. The staff is okay for the most part. Some are very friendly while others appear to be indifferent about working there. Regardless, I'm able to find everything I need there when I need cooking, baking goods, etc. In addition, it's so close to home, which is really convenient. read more

WOW that was a refreshing experience. First, my encounter with the pharmacist mr Liu. He was super informative in aiding me in finding the best medication for my grandmothers pressure sores (also was not pushy or impatient). Next, I mentioned to this lady by the name of Grace, that I was looking for acetone and there weren't any on the floor so after her apologies we went our separate ways and moments later chased me down to let me know she found one bottle left. Finally the lovely lady that checked me out, Yvette. Such a sweetheart, leaving me with a smile on my face while walking out to my car. Everytime I've ordered from the bakery I've been happy with my desserts. I order cakes, cupcakes & occasionally shop when they're having a sale. I love to come early to ensure the cake is made the way I want it & to see if I can get any free extras. The bakery dept. is usually quite nice but sometimes they are hard to find. read more

The party trays were nice and well done. My biggest concern was the cashier, she just looked like she was being held hostage and we were her captors. no smile, no greeting , nothing! most of the employees look so unhappy to be working here.We spent a lot of money here for our party you would think we could get a thank you or smile, but I guess not. when I am in town I usually shop at the martinez lucky store but this was closer to where the party was being held. This is a good way to lose customers, I would never go back to this location. Use to enjoy shopping at " Lucky's" yet lately deeply disappointed with produce and frozen products. Not sure if it from children dragging groceries across the floor and removing things from the FREEZER. Have landed up with rotten produce, also frozen dinners. Parents do not discipline their children messing with everything. They ought to be taught that it is not a PARK or a TOY STORE where they can drag everything around and the parents do nothing about it. Also, children big enough to walk should not be sitting in the shopping carts where we put our food. No wonder we have so many diseases around. Nicely situated on Fitzgerald Dr. Store is clean and usually during the daytime there is not so much of a line when you checkout. Maybe it has something to do with the self checkout. Which I've noticed is only open during the daytime. Mainly I come here to use their RO-DI water dispenser for my saltwater tank. Is there anyone out there as frustrated as I am when I go grocery shopping at Luckys Market in the Pinole Shopping Center. I like this store because it is always swell stocked, clean, clean restrooms and the nicest and most helpful cashiers and clerks who carry your groceries to the car. I don't chase sales ( flashback from my childhood). I go to one grocery store and since the day this store opened, it's been Luckys at the Pinole Shopping Center. This store lured me away from Safeway and I used to be a diehard Safeway shopper. Everything was perfect at Luckys and then the powers that be decided to redesign the layout of the store and move the groceries all over the store. Now when I'm shopping, I don't know where anything is anymore. I have to ride up and down every aisle and many times still can't find what I need. But I'm not alone. All the customers are trolling the aisle asking each other where is the item they need. I go to the section where I think the item should be. It's not there. They lowered some the shelving so some of the items you miss because you have to bend down to see the item especially if most of the stock is gone. I bet whoever made the decision to change everything around at Luckys doesn't even have to shop for groceries. It is so maddening and frustrating. By the time I get in line to pay, I'm in a rage. I have to tell the cashiers and clerks how awful this change is almost every time I go in the store and I know this was not there decision, but I can't help myself. I do have a solution: Lucky should install keyboards all over the store, and if I need oatmeal, I type in oatmeal and the location pops up on the screen, i.e., Oatmeal- aisle14, section C, bottom shelf. That would be a win for everyone. I think I'm going to send this suggestion to Luckys. read more

The last three times I went to this store I walked around the store for about 10 minutes looking or someone to help. Couldn't find a single person. The two times I finally did, the first person lead me in the completely wrong direction, and the second person said he was 'new' and didn't know anything about the store. GREEAAAT!!! So once again I'm leaving this store only to gain more wasted time and none of what I was looking for. The last straw was when I just checked out and on top of how negligent the store was run the check 'Keith' was ridiculously rude! Like we were annoying him by purchasing products at the store. I'm so glad that they have a Lucky in the area . They have some really random , interesting , unique stuff here that you don't find anywhere else . It's cool how they have a rewards program where you can save a little bit of money on gas for each $50 of groceries you buy . EXTREMELY POOR services here! No sense of customer services at all. I have been warned by my friends before about shopping at Lucky and I didn't listen...here I had to pay the price. They never have merchandise when they're advertising their goods...ok, never mind, here's your raincheck. That was already one trip for nothing. Then when I got back some other time later to use my raincheck, they said, you had to go back to the original branch I got the raincheck. I heard some conflicts between the workers there too, some said it was ok to use raincheck at different branches. I had to wait 5 mins at the check out line, another 15 mins for the butcher to verify because he was not available, then contested with him another 5 mins. He rudely told me to go back to the other branch because of minimal details of the raincheck (I had no idea why and what had to be written and it was absolutely NOT MY fault at all). That would be another waste of 2nd trip which didn't mean a guarantee that that branch would have the merchandise that would be the 3rd trip! Imagine you wasted HALF HOUR at this place on the 2nd trip!! Excuse you, I paid money to shop at your place as a patron...I didn't expect any free merchandise from you and I was looked and rudely talked back?!? If I were the business owner at this place, I would just give a serious lecture about CUSTOMER SERVICES here ASAP read more

Produce department sells fruits and vegetables that are pushed to ripeness by placing in heated rooms. They look great on the outside but cut that avocado open and it's grey and rotten. I've given them three chances, keeps happening. Forget about peaches, nectarines. They need to get better suppliers and start caring about the quality of the produce they sell. If no one buys it, there's no profit, so how about stocking better quality that customers will come back for. I'm done with them. Raley's on Damn Road is better. The staff is all really friendly, especially a middle aged african amrrican cashier. He was cracking jokes and being very personal with every customer. I like the self checkout lane too and always find what I am looking for here. It is spacious and well laid out and even if you can't find help at every corner, you can always go up front and ask someone there and they will find someone to help you. Im a safeway girl but luckys was actually more stocked and had what I was looking for then the safeway down the road a little ways. Keep up the great work! read more
