Do they have new owners here? I don't know. I stopped going here a couple of years ago, but decided to try it again. Have been here twice in two days. The bbq spare ribs are so good my wife wanted them again two days after the first order. I didn't object at all. The steamed dumplings sauce is great and the Singapore mei fun is wonderful ( my favorite). I highly recommend you try them again if it's been a while. They deserve to succeed. read more

We've been going to King Yuan for a few years always and truly enjoying the food. Our last trip, not as much. We ordered our staples: Hot sour soup, Pork Egg Foo young, Moo shu beef, and General Tso's shrimp. Hot sour soup tasted so different, with way, way too much tofu. Egg Foo Young was just south of good. Moo Shu Beef was tasty. The General Tso's shrimp was almost all breading such the shrimp disappeared. Taste of the sauce was off. Maybe a new chef? If you're looking for quick authentic Chinese food I'd definitely stop by or call this place next time if I we're you. When you first walk in it fits your typical Chinese restaurant mold. Including the fact that it's a family ran place. That in itself earns my return business. I ordered the large egg drop wonton soup and it was delicious. As a family of four, one large chicken and broccoli plate and a large soup is more than enough. Their food has great flavor and the portions are quite large for the cost. This used to be our go to Chinese restaurant because of the care they obviously took in preparing quality food. We used to go out of our way to come to Avon just to get King Yuan's 2/3 times per month. Even when idiots were trying to boycott them because of the nonsensical COVID propaganda, we stuck by them because they were good people selling a great product. Now they have gone way downhill and it's very disappointing how lazily their food is prepared. King Pao chicken used to have a rich, spicy sauce and tiny bite sized pieces of chicken in every bite. Now it's a watery, flavorless sauce with these big, bland chunks of chicken that's inedible. The fried chicken chunks for their General Tso and Orange chicken is so over cooked now it's like eating sauce covered jerky and very unpleasant. We stopped patronizing the restaurant near our home after catching them twice frying their chicken and King Yuan's is starting to taste like they too are double frying the chicken chunks. That dries out the chicken and makes it inedible! Please don't do that! If I wanted cardboard, I'd go to Panda Express! What happened to the perfectly fried chicken that was made the star by their flavorful sauces? We used to drive from out of town (past at least 8 Chinese restaurants just to get King Yuan's...not anymore until they right this ship! It's a shame because they are the nicest people too! Strike three they are out. Tried to give them one more chance after they forgot my sweet and sour sauce for my chicken dinner a few years back. Electricity has been out for days so we needed food. Got our order home and guess what. No sweet and sour sauce, no egg roll sauce no napkins no silverware. Couldn't go back as they were closed and couldn't have reheated it anyway. Family tried this place as it had some good ratings. Meh. I don't know if all Chinese restaurants have all decided at once to stop adding flavor to their food, but this was fair to middlin. Hot & Sour Soup was my favorite part. General Tso chicken was very tough and the flavor didn't make up for it. Rice was bland. Other dishes were orange chicken (too much orange sauce), sweet & sour chicken (too much breading) and beef & broccoli (where's the beef?). First time here, very clean inside!! The food was okay, I had sweet + sour chicken but the sauce was water consistent. Other Chinese restaurants you have to ask for white rice but with this establishment I guess you have to ask for fried rice instead. One thing I did like was the food didn't have that "greasy-heavy" taste. I don't know what they fry their food in but it was nice to have a light Chinese meal instead of a heavy greasy meal. read more

As far as these types of "standardized menu" Chinese places go (and it seems that's about all we've got in the Avon/Avon Lake area), King Yuan is a cut above the rest. Here are the plusses, in comparison to local competition: 1. Clean, clean, clean. It is spotless in there. 2. Staff who make an attempt to be personable. 3. More fresh veggies than the others. The service here is exceptionally friendly, but when one orders take out, you may want to allow a little bit of extra time to go pick it up, because I have arrived twice and had to wait in between 15 and 20 extra minutes. This seems to be a normal occurrence here, as I have seen other people sitting around waiting for their food as well. The kitchen and dining room are very clean regardless of when one arrives. Clearly, they do take a lot of pride in the cleanliness of their establishment. That is refreshing in this day and age. As far as the food goes, I would say tha it is of average, or slightly above average quality as it relates to most items. The vegetables used always taste fresh, and most of the sauces are pretty tasty. However, I wouldn't consider anything "gourmet". The prices here are very reasonable, and if you're looking for just a quick place to pick up some takeout, I think it is worth checking out. This is by no means a fancy restaurant, but I feel that they offer a reasonable level of quality and value for the dollar that they charge. read more

Mixed results with my first visit. The fried rice and egg roll were good, which should be standard for a Chinese place. The vegetables in my Hunan beef were perfectly cooked and tasty. However the quality of the beef was not consistent. One bite would be tender and tasty, the next would be chewy or gristley. The heat/spice of the food ended up being too much and I could not finish my meal (and I can handle moderate heat). The hot and sour soup was also so hot it overwhelmed the flavor. Hands-down best Chinese food in the Avon/Avon Lake/West Lake area! f you have a taste for Chinese food, this is the place you can't miss. Owner Amy is super nice, and Chef Sun is awesome. They use no MSG in the cooking and their pot-sticker that made from scratch is absolutely delicious. Another great dish I would recommend is the fat rice noodle (Ho-fun).
