The Pad Thai and General Tso's are amazingly good! There's tender noodles with just the right bite. There were a plentiful amount of bean sprouts, onion, egg, and a generous amount chicken. I paid $12 but wouldn't have flinched if it were $15. Went back the next day and got their General Tso's and it was almost perfect. I ordered medium and it was exactly that. Good chunks of meat, not overly breaded and covered in a delicious savory sauce. The restaurant was very clean, the service was friendly and very fast. The portions are large, not to mention so good. They have a Thai menu and Chinese menu too. You can also get extra spicy Thai hot if you like hot stuff. Price is right too. They always bring the food out pretty fast too, great service. The place is not heavily waitressed though, but I prefer they bring my food and let me eat anyway. This is a take out place, no doubt about it. With that said, I was very satisfied with the food because we wanted fast food that was heavy on the veggies with no soy sauce heaviness. It was exactly what we wanted. The folks here are definitely Thai, and they work together very well to take care of your order. This place is a small place and could use an update but the food is good and they were willing to make adjustments. Eating a vegan diet we asked to leave the egg out of the Spicy Pad Thai and the noodle dish. The chef wasn't sure about the noodle dish since the egg is what brings the dish and sauce together. However, he made a great dish even without the egg. The sauce was thin so they served it in a bowl and we added it to the noodles later so it wouldn't get too soggy. They were great and helpful when we asked questions and made up some great food. The veggie Basil Fried rice was awesome. Big chunks of peppers, onions and fresh basil. We ordered carry out at dinner time from Jo Wok while staying at the Great Wolf Lodge. We originally were trying to go to MeKong Vietnamese Restaurant, which was a bit closer to the hotel, but they were closed. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with Jo Wok. We ordered N2 Pad See Ew, T23 Peanut Sauce, and an order of 2 spring rolls. I shared the Pad See Ew with Chicken with my daughter (she's almost 3, but can basically eat a house!), it was definitely on the sweet side, so probably not the most authentic. We ordered The Peanut sauce dish with beef and it was served over steamed white rice. I could've just had the sauce over the rice, forget the beef and broccoli! The sauce had the traditional peanut flavor and also seemed to be mixed with coconut milk. My husband mostly ate this dish, and he was also able to finish it without issue. Lastly, we found the prices to be extremely reasonable. Each dish was only $7.50 and it was the perfect amount of food for the 2.5 of us. We didn't really want to have leftovers for the next day, since we were checking out. When we come back to Sandusky, we will definitely stop here! read more

Located in a strip in Sandusky. It's a pretty small place and only has maybe 8-10 tables. You order at the counter and someone brings out the food when its ready. I ordered the Green Curry with Chicken. I saw you can get fried rice and a spring roll for an extra $1. So I went with that. Food arrived at my table in maybe 5-7 minutes after I ordered. Spring roll came out with the meal. The spring roll was crispy on the outside as expected. It seemed lukewarm. This was a surprise as usually these are served at other restaurants piping hot. The flavor was spot on. I just would have liked it served hot. A bowl of rice was on the plate with the curry poured on top. I prefer to have the rice on the side. So I went with it. The rice seemed more like regular rice. Whoever made it didn't fry it long enough. If it was fried at all. It seemed like someone poured soy into it and gave it a stir. There wasn't egg in it. Or any other seasonings. There were pockets that were pure white that led me to believe it wasn't fried. And it was light brown in color. Very light brown. The curry has a nice amount of heat to it. It was very flavorful as a sauce. The chicken was cut up large pieces mixed in a vegetable mixture that resembled and tasted like it came out of a frozen bag. The peas and carrots specifically. The green pepper was fresh. The whole thing just didn't taste fresh. Overall, the food was just ok. I was expecting a bit more given the ratings. read more

TL,DR; not authentic Thai, go here for Chinese (can't actually opine) or possibly one of the Thai curries if you're dying for it. Hard pass on pad see ew. I should've known when I stepped in and saw a menu split between Chinese and Thai it wasn't going to be authentic. But I was starving and hopeful given the good reviews from yelp. Unfortunately I was let down. I ordered the pad see ew and was disappointed completely. The noodles were wrong - thinner than the normal flat wide noodles. The sauce was wrong - way way way too sweet where normally it should be more savory and should be a darker brown than the light brown sauce. They didn't have the dry chilies flakes I would expect from any place serving Thai. I kept moving my food around in search for...I'm not sure what. Taking bites here and there when I finally gave up because it just became so cloyingly sweet that I couldn't take any more. I ended up leaving hungry. One additional star as my husband's panang curry was average and my dad got a can of roasted coconut juice which was pretty good (he unfortunately ordered the same thing as me). read more

What catches your eye will most likely be the hand-written menu over the counter that is soo old the marker is fading. You'll also notice they serve chinese AND thai food, spanning multiple genres, which I am always a little way of. Can't say the staff was the most attentive as I had to make eye contact and signal a girl we were ready to order after standing at the counter for a few minutes. Food: This is definitely where Jo Wok shines. - The 'spring roll' is NOT a vietnamese spring roll but is really 2 tiny fried egg rolls. While freshly fried, they were soo tiny! Basically all egg wrapper and no filling. It also comes with a sweet syrup instead of the chinese soy sauce or vietnamese fish sauce. The Panang curry was great. The sauce was sweet with a hint of heat, served on a bed of rice and decently-cooked chicken (neither tender nor dry/chewy). It had good body and was a very enjoyable dish overall. The Pad Thai was solid. The sauce was tangy and not overly sweet. They prepare it on the 'wetter' side which i prefer as the noodles don't clump. Toppings and meat were well-portioned. Overall I really enjoyed my meal, especially considering the price. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the chinese food but the thai part of the menu seems legit so far. This little restaurant is great. I picked up dinner for my family of 6 and 5 out of the 6 dishes were delicious. This is not your typical take out joint at all... it's small but there are a few tables and booths, and the walls are decorated beautifully. It's well run by friendly people. We tried the pad thai, thai wide noodles, egg rolls and chicken curry and all were good - as good as any Thai place back home in St. Louis (if not better). They also have Chinese food. My only request next time would be that the green curry chicken would be separate from the rice - by the time I got home the rice had soaked up all the sauce. Very glad we found this place by accident, we missing Thai food coming from a bigger city with more choices. We ordered Pad Thai chicken, portion was large and had a good amount of meat in it. I was a little surprised because the dish is usually served with lime slices, but they had lemon. The pad thai was a little skimpy on sauce to our liking, we next time we would ask for more sauce. The noodles were cooked nicely though and a nice garnish of vegetables accompanied it. We also ordered a sesame chicken dish with fried rice. Again, nice portion size and was good. The fried rice wasn't your traditional fried rice, the only thing I can compare it to is like a saucier teriyaki'ish version of a fried rice. It was good, just very different from the traditional Thai or Chinese fried rice dishes. Ordered crab puffs, were very well filled and good. They were a little more sweet than I'm used to, almost tasted like had a touch of coconut milk in the cream cheese recipe. Ordered two egg rolls, were good as well but a little pricey. Overall, for Sandusky a great place! Family owned and great customer service, fast service too. Tried to call twice to place phone order for pick-up and no answer, went to drive thru and speaker doesn't work so you have to drive to pick-up window to order so it's a little of a wait then but not bad.
