I have always liked Lucky's and did most of my shopping at Lucky's on Santa Teresa/Blossom Hill. I miss this store and the employees, so much friendlier. I refuse to go back to to the now Food Maxx, do many issues there!!!! I only do some shopping at the Bernal Rd Lucky's for several reasons, one customer service. I like certain steaks, so call before I drive to the store. Don't even try calling this stores meat dept, you will be waiting and recalling, and then waiting again! This is for their bakery, finally we found them! My daughter wanted a red velvet cake for her birthday, we went to Nob hills, Safeway and Costco, none of them had that option to order. We wanted to check this place before we go "Cest si bon." Lucky had the red velvet option!!! We ordered thru very nice lady at the bakery, also they had so many cute and delicious cakes to pick up at the window like strawberry short cake, rainbow cake and pink rosette champagne cake! Customer service has gone from bad to worse, been going to this store for as long as they've been here because it's convenient and less than 1/2 mile from my residence, this morning I went to the deli department waited few minutes than I realized that a young man was putting togetherness some sushi, so I asked him if anyone was in the deli department, his reply was Someone will be there soon, waited few more minutes, no one in sight, so I asked him again if someone was coming, he totally ignored me as if I wasn't there. I walked away to check out my few items, the clerk instructed me to use self checkout, I tried but I couldn't get the keypad To respond to my touch, so I asked her to help me, she was totally put out by my request, she finally helped but I could see how upset she was because I asked for help. As much as I can I've stopped shopping at this store because of their lack of professionalism and the rudeness is overwhelming. There are times when I don't have a choice and have to shop here because it's close by my house. The first bag of salad lettuce I grabbed was expired by 4 days. I bought some lobster bisque in the deli case for $11.99. Went to Safeway the next day (yesterday) and the same size container was $7.99. Roasts were in the $30.00 range and I wound up paying over $15.00 for a London broil. The candy, the soup (my lord the price of Progresso Soup here is only for Millionaires at $4.99 a can where it's half that at Walmart) eggs are still $9.99 a dozen....I just feel ripped off every time I walk in the door. Cheese prices are inflated, hamburger here is unaffordable....i go here just to get a thing or two when I can't travel elsewhere, not as a shopping destination. read more

This Lucky Supermarket is the best around. I lived for a while up in SF and frequented the Sloat Blvd store and it pales greatly compared to the Santa Teresa Blvd store now that it has been revamped. The floral dept alone is so awesome. Abundant variety, healthy plants and fresh flowers. The produce is beautiful. The meat dept has great cuts and the butcher will get for you specialty cuts. I used to dread going here for groceries in the past and would go out of the way to Snob Hill, but no longer: this Lucky market has all a person can desire and friendly, helpful staff. read more

This location never fails at providing the worst customer service I have ever had. From the deli (calling in an order and still waiting 30 minutes once you get there) to the store changing its layout and not one employee knowing where anything is this store is a complete mess. I walked the store in circles to find peanut butter and asked an employee and frustrated she said I don't know where it is as the layout of the store changed and there's a chart over there to look at. I looked at her and walked away. I kept looking but never found it. There's no bags at the self checkout and if you need help with an item the person monitoring the area will barely help. It's not a welcoming atmosphere and the lack of customer service time and time again is disappointing. Unless you know where your items are this is a complete waste of time. Worst customer experience ever. Was dropping off plastic bags/film for recycling. An older female employee confronted me in an extremely hostile way,accuses me of dumping "Trash". I had to explain to her their store is part of a recycling program, she clearly has no idea and said I can only drop off "a few" bags. Which doesn't say anywhere on the collection box. The collection box is also always full in the last 2 years. Making it difficult for people to drop off. I will do my shopping at a more customer savy and environmental friendly location from now on. read more

I will never shop at this establishment again and I will be sure to spread the word to all my friends and family why they should shop anywhere else but a Luckys grocery store! It's bad enough they only have one cashier with a line 10 people deep, So I go to the self checkout with my seven or eight items and the extremely rude employee won't give me a bag to put my groceries in until I'm all done! So instead of letting me bag my groceries as I scan them I have to redo it after I've paid my $.10 for a bag. As far as grocery stores go, this is a pretty average one in my opinion. There are several factors which led me to only give it 3 stars which I have found can be echoed by other reviews for this location. 1) Lack of stocked items. I feel like their really popular items seem to run low frequently which I found surprising. I have been here at various times during the day as well as different days of the week and the same has been true multiple times. Not sure if they are not keeping up with orders or demands from their customers, but I have had to find substitutes for items I couldn't find in the aisles. 2) Front customer service. The cashiers don't seem interested at all in helping customers and will have lengthy discussions with one another (by that I mean other cashiers or baggers) while checking the customers out. I understand you are more interested in your coworkers and their lives, but a simple consistent greeting would be appreciated. I also asked about signing up for their rewards program and was dismissed by the cashier and told that I need to do that online and that they weren't able to sign us up in store. 3) Floral selection. Save for big holidays, they have a very poor floral department. Most of the time there is no one at the department to ask for a special bouquet and the options they do have seem to look the same and only get more expensive because they make them in a bigger size. I couldn't even find a bouquet of a dozen roses that are usually found in supermarkets; I ended up going to another grocery store instead. If this is the grocery store closest to you, I understand the convenience aspect but I would say there are some areas that Lucky's needs to improve on. read more

There was one checker working. As a result self check was the only option. The self check scanner kept requiring assistance wasting my time. Then if you want a bag you need to ask the attendant. I guess they are considered about someone stealing a 10 cent bag. One entrance is now completely blocked making store access inconvenient. Go to Safeway. Their prices are close to Safeway, but I feel that overall; their deli and raw meat section aren't as good of quality as the competitor. They have some good deals on the daily, but looking through their weekly ads is always the best way to save the most money. read more

They often don't honor there coupons. Just an all around terrible grocery store, I was hoping it would be better after the remodel but it's actually worse, the meat selection is also terrible. I've been shopping at this Lucky's on/off for 7 years now. Sadly customer service has been on a steady decline, specifically from the cashiers. They seem terribly unhappy and come off rude. I come to this Lucky's pretty often while on my way to game night at a friend's house. It's usually a quick in-and-out trip. I run in, grab soda, maybe grab a dessert item (either a pack of Oreos or a prepackaged dessert item from the bakery), & finish off at self-checkout. I've never really had any issues with that experience & self-checkout makes it all a quick, easy-breezy trip. Over the past couple of trips, however, I found myself struggling to find cold bottles of Coke Zero Sugar in the fridges by their checkouts, which was kind of odd & a little aggravating when I had to visit 4 different fridges to find 2 bottles of Coke Zero... All in all, it's a very clean, well-kept store & never crazy busy when I stop in, so I can't really complain. read more

Visited this location for the first time yesterday around 12:30 and I was pleasantly surprised. The store was very clean with fresh produce. The deli had good looking food and the counters were also clean. What impressed me the most was the service; Camelia at the cashier was delightful. She was extremely friendly and greeted me with enthusiasm. She also wished me a great day looking directly at my face with a big and nice smile. So I didn't go here for a year or so because I was physically attacked there before. So I decide to try it again against my better judgment and what happens, I get out of my car and start walking toward the store and I am immediately attacked by a young Mexican guy again because I was walking too close to him (6 ft)? Worst customer experience ever! The lady with gray long hair who is in charging self checkout is very rude, mean, and no patient. I went there around 5:30 PM today and tried to use the self checkout, but I found that my items did not get discount. I asked her for help, she just stayed at her place and told me that I had to use digital coupon which I have never done it before. I tried to cancel the transaction, but the machine is not smart enough to do so. She ordered me to stay there to wait for her manager to cancel it even when there was checkout machine available and no waiting line. She was shouting to me, saying you blocked the line, so you have to stay here even when no waiting line any more. This is totally unacceptable and does not make sense to me. This is the first time I experienced such poor customer service in US. read more

I have shopped here and have had various issues throughout the years...and I keep coming back. Today was the last straw. I spent $32.00 on various kinds of candies for the office. 4 bags with the expiration date of 08/2024 had bad, discolored chocolates. When I tried to return them the lady said "we haven't had any problems with it".ha. proof is in the pudding...or the chocolate. Other issues I have had: a large bone in a deli chicken sandwich. This is for the Pharmacy. Had excellent service from the male pharmacist or tech. I got a vaccine from him. Very nice and friendly. This is not the same store I first walked into 14 years ago when it was Albertsons...the people that worked here used to be happy, personable and long-term. Over time, I've noticed that the staff is not as helpful as it used to be. They have "3 is a crowd" policy: The way it works (or is SUPPOSED to work) is if a line gets backed up over three people, they open up another register. This is a complete joke because you're going to easily find yourself waiting in a line of ten people halfway backed up down the bread isle. Last weekend when I was in the store, the checker that was working called over the P.A. for help: "3's a crowd.." and she got a response, "busy...deal." I couldn't believe they were actually arguing over the overhead paging! They've been pushing more and more that people use the self-service check out, but it's never a smooth transaction. Not to mention that it's not meant for large purchases, just quick arm-carry walk out stuff. That's a joke too as the aisle to use the machine is narrow and set up like twisty-turny rat maze, all backed up with people during prime time hours. The machines consistently lock up and you're once again dependent on a reluctant-to-help checkout assistant standing by there to reset them. The stock of the store is....okay. Although there's been a number of times where you go to pick up something commonly used...for example, "Minute Rice", and there's a large, empty spot on the shelf where it should be. Things have gotten substantially better outside the store in the past several months in as far as...I dunno if they're homeless people or what. I've noticed the complex's security patrol has been a lot more diligent running these people off. The most memorable encounter was 6 feet from the front door where this shabbily dressed man with a super long scraggly beard almost down to his waist tried to stop me and asked, "a doobie for a dude?" There's also this guy with dark hair and glasses, and he used to roll around on the sidewalk in front of the store screaming at the top of his lungs, cursing at some imaginary friend of his. I would see people actually get back into their cars and drive away instead of braving walk past him. I think he lives in the bushes on Via Del Oro over by the Baja Fresh. Plusses..plusses...umm....it's convenient and close to home? Honestly, it's really the only one I can think of, sorry. read more

Store has zero customer service. I came here multiple times and few times I found products expired in the shelves and found multiple times truffle mozzarella expired and they also sell rotten fruits. Few weeks ago I came to shop, bought sliced provolone cheese which was discounted at $3.99 instead of $4.99 but was charged regular price at the register I went back and yeah I got refunded a $1 but their policy says that is supposed to be free. I have nothing against this supermarket at all. I like the automated checkouts, although it is quite a pain to use coupons at times. The sales on processed crackers are quite awesome. I remember Tabasco Cheez-Its being only $1.25 a box. Stock up, my friends. My only complaint is the pretty bare refrigerated party tray area. One of the bigger Lucky stores in the area (they have the bulk area). Once you get the layout down, stuff is pretty easy to find. Prices are pretty good and they always seem to have everything I need. They sometimes have a BBQ going outside on weekends. The Tri-tip was just ok (I can do better) but the ribs are always great! Just went to Lucky's to pick up some items, I am normally not in a hurry but today I was. Had someone waiting for me. Time was 8:50 am. Filled my basket and went looking for a open check stand. No lights and no checkers, all of them roped off. I found an employee at one straightening the gum out. I ask if they stopped service check out. She said there is no one until 9am. I don't mind self service if I only have a couple of things but not for my regular shopping. It was bad enough you can't find anything in this store now. This was kind of the last straw.
