So good. Worth making a reservation so far in advance. It's popular for a reason. The inside is a little dark for a brunch setting, but would be perfect for dinner. We decided to try so many things and ended up taking a lot home. But worth it! Obviously was better fresh, but the sweet pork and rice was still really delicious reheated. Our favorites were the crab Rangoon danish, the Hmong sausage (not pictured), and the mango and passion fruit croissant! But I don't think you could go wrong with any of it!
I sat in the patio which was extremely nice, although the flies and hornets did make eating slightly troublesome (not the fault of the restaurant!). Service was very helpful in deciding what to order. The pork rice rolls were my standout dish with great texture and flavor. The pavlova for dessert was also delicious.
So worth making reservations and trying this place. I will come back. Food made in house. Wonderful flavors and unique croissants. Our favorite: coconut pandan, also tried the mango, passionfruit lychee which is wonderful as well. House made Hmong sausage delicious, and their version of French toast is a must try if you have a party of four or more. The serving is huge. We also shared the pan fried bean thread pasta. ,Just enough spice and great sharing portion The efficiency and friendly atmosphere and staff added to a fun and enjoyable experience.
Had a take out order and Pandan coconut croissant - coconut pandan chantilly. A really light option, not too sweet, and really great croissant texture. Mango passion fruit lychee croissant - passion fruit mango curd and lychee - covered with sugar making it a little sweeter than the others but it balances out with the sourness of the passionate fruit. Peach raspberry danish - soft/pillowy texture with sweetness from the cream and fruit.
We had such an amazing time at Diane's Place! We'd waited a long time for our reservation and our expectations were exceeded! We ate most of our food so quickly and enthusiastically that we didn't get pictures of most of our food, but our absolute favorites were the scallion croissants, the Hmong sausage (order it with the fried egg, thank me later), and the sour pork ribs. Everything was bursting with flavor and served with the perfect portion size. Save room for dessert! We ordered the chocolate custard torte and spent the rest of the night thinking about it.
The pastries are a must here! The flavoring is very light, but still impactful. They may seem odd and unconventional with SEA/tropical flavorings, but TRUST! The balance is so well done. My mother's favorite is the mango, passion fruit, and lychee croissant! I don't think the Thai tea toast lives up to the hype - it was more of a brioche french toast than it was thai tea flavored. Best to eat right away and warm though! The savory dishes are a hit or miss. This is definitely catered towards a western palate and I would say more Hmong-American fusion. The red duck stew was new and really good! Staff is very kind and thoughtful. They check-up on you regularly, but did not seem overwhelming! I'm glad they expanded too - the new seating area is very aesthetic. Would recommend making a reservation though - wait times can be up to 1h+ without it, especially on the weekends.
Very kitchy, vibey place in Nordeast. We waited a month for the rez and it was good but what is good from a value standpoint? I would say that is debatable. Do not get me wrong the food was good but not great. Shank was cooked perfectly but was overly sour. The red fried snap was great but lacked any flare of flavor (very midwestern oriented) Fine if that's your thing. The service was wonderful and the staff was more than attentive. If you want some of the same items try Hmong village as well. Again....Good but not blown away. Thank you again to our waitress for working with us on the bill!

My second is to be careful with the crunchy chili paste - too much and your eyes water. We came for brunch on my birthday. Just the two of us who ate way more than we should have and bought even more to take home. Guava Mimosa - very good, slightly sour Lemonade - excellent French Toast - excellent and much lighter than it looks Sweet Pork Bowl - great flavors and love the sticky rice Chicken Noodle Soup - a cross between Pho and soup and the best thing on the menu. The broth really makes this special. Peach Lychee Pavlova - a cloud of baked meringue with lychee sorbet, lychees and peaches Coconut Pandan Croissant - very good, hard to taste the coconut Mango Croissant - filled with the slightly sour mango custard Everything is beautifully presented. Service by Amanda was excellent. Really an exceptional meal. My picky eater husband loved every bite. Parking takes a little patience.
Diane's has and continues to win numerous awards for a reason. I was lucky enough to lock in a Friday dinner reservation after weeks of trying and I can safely say it did not disappoint. My husband and I have done brunch here before and have been so excited to finally nab a coveted weekend dinner rezzie. The space is expanding which is incredible and will get more people in the door to experience Diane's in all its glory. We ordered: Mini scallion croissants Papaya noodle salad Steamed Pork rolls Pulled pork (must get) - also fun fact the bamboo is from chef Diane's family fam in SC Hmong sausage (must get) Castella cake We absolutely loved everything we ordered and were a little sad we didn't have more people with us to order the whole menu to try everything (too bad we will have to go back ) Our server Tiff was a rockstar. She was so knowledgeable and funny and truly one of the best servers we've had. The entire staff was outstanding and goes to show why this spot not for just the food, but from top to bottom deserves all their accolades.

This time it was an early Saturday brunch, and the place was packed--inside, the patio, everywhere. Fortunately I found a seat at the bar. At my server's recommendation, I ordered the Sweet Pork Bowl with a side of Hmong sausage, and it was outstanding. This is the kind of restaurant where every ingredient has a purpose. Every flavor stands out, every texture works together, and every bite makes you slow down and enjoy it. It's one of those meals where you catch yourself closing your eyes just to take it all in. The service was friendly and efficient despite how busy they were, and the atmosphere has a great energy without feeling rushed. Diane's Place continues to impress, and it's definitely a restaurant I'll keep coming back to.
First time here. We went late morning without a reservation. We got seated on the beautiful patio. We both enjoyed a pastry with coffee. The food here is delicious. We got into conversation with some people near us. Everyone raved about the taste of the brunch. We are going back soon to try some of the other menu items.
I've been wanting to visit for a while and lucky me, I got to go for brunch twice this month. The food both times was really good. Dianes Hmong Sausage - if you add the egg you can have it prepared anyway, I went for over medium. Crab Ragoon Danish- it was good, but for me the concentration of filling in the center made some bites a bit poweful. Asian Chicken Noodle Soup- that broth is amazing. It's rich and hearty (not at all watery). Thai Tea French Toast- my friend and I shared, this along with everything listed below. Its so good and 1pc was more than enough. Also, I'm not a raspberry fan, but that tartness went so well with sweetness. Vegetable Spring Rolls- tasty and the peanut sauce reminded me more of a sweet and sour sauce which I liked. Crab Omelette- I only had a bite, but the egg light, the sauce rich and creamy, and the greens had a bit of mint that was a nice touch. Pan Fried Bean Thread Noodle - I was so stuffed, but the few bites were good. It was a little saucy, and the sauce a bit powerful. I don't know if was fish sauce or something else. I normally like fish sauce, but if that's what it didn't work for me here. Other things to note: Parking - I found myself having to spin the block for a bit to find a spot. No biggie, but keep that in mind as you plan your commute. Entrance - I noticed 3 doors along 14th Ave, one is for the To-Go section, the other two are for the Dine-in, which includes bar seating, table seating inside and outside. Service - both times, servers were overall polite. With the second visit I noticed the waiter focused a lot on my friend, how she enjoyed her meal (didn't ask me), facing her only when introducing himself and explaining the specials. And no he wasn't being flirtatious, just selective perhaps. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend it and look forward to returning to try dinner sooner than later.

Diane's Place is set in a gigantic building; it's essentially an entire building complex, with a large patio for dining, multiple, I think four, interior dining room areas, a large event space, and a take out cafe. I think they own the entire block! They certainly must be doing pretty well financially to support all these endeavors! We made a reservation to visit about 2 weeks in advance for brunch. We ended up arriving around 30 minutes early after driving up from Rochester, but luckily they we were accommodate the early arrival and seated us immediately. Service is on the more upscale end. I found it interesting that chopsticks aren't given by default even for the noodle soups - the server only brings them out if requested. Thai Tea French Toast ($25) - This French Toast is a tower of carb-filled, dessert deliciousness, in a much larger portion size than I expected upon my initial order. It includes two resplendently towering slices of croissant loaf, easily reaching 4 inches in height in total, not to mention the extra bit of whip dolloped atop. The toast is, of course, soaked in a dairy rich Thai tea solution, then griddled until toasty. The bottoms are dark black in color, but there's no acridity to be had. Instead, they are sweet and slightly vanilla scented, boosted by the stabilized vanilla bean cream on top. I can't say there's much Thai Tea flavor in the mix though - it's only hinted at in certain bites towards the center. I must say that croissant dough is a great base for French toast. The natural airy chewiness really makes a tender and moist crumb when soaked. (5/5) Asian Chicken Noodle Soup ($24) - We were not expecting much out of this soup given the generic name, but we loved it in the end. The soup base has a thick and luscious mouthfeel, like it's been simmering for hours upon hours. It's similar in texture to a cornstarch thickened broth, although there's no gloopiness at all. It's rich with flavor, fragrant with chicken essence and peppery umami. The noodles here are thick as typical udon noodles and are cut into bite sized pieces. They have a great bouncy quality that somehow stays the same texture throughout the entire meal - even after 20 minutes or so, the noodles were just as bouncy as when they first arrived. Apparently these are made with a heavier tapioca starch blend - I assume the excess starch is what thickens the soup as well. In terms of toppings, there's first a substantial amount of boneless chicken. It's sliced up, but left skin-on and with the fat not completely trimmed off. This helps the chicken remain moist and succulent, and flavorful from lemongrass and other herbs and spices. There are then a bunch of herbs, fresh bamboo shoots, a tender soft boiled egg, and fried scallion bits. The soup comes with a small cup of house made chili crisp on the side. Be careful - this one is potent. A little goes a long way given how it's far spicier than typical chili crisp. (5/5) We were inside the restaurant for just over an hour and it was an enjoyable experience from beginning to end. While we were stuffed, we decided to jaunt over to the cafe side to take a look at some of the pastries (which can also be ordered at the table if desired!) Green Scallion Danish ($6) - Just the right amount of salty scallion punch in this croissant. It's like the classic Chinese scallion bread, but in a westernized format, with scallion yousu/roux mixed into the bake. While laminated, the flakiness and open honeycomb pattern aren't quite there. It's perhaps more brioche-like in resemblance in terms of texture. At any rate, it's sweet, salty, and super scallion fragrant. Delicious. (5/5) Diane's Place is excellent. Perhaps Americanized in some ways vs. the more traditional Hmong cooking in Hmong Village, but is delicious in its own way. I'm so glad to have ended my trip to Minnesota on such a high note! I had the luxury of meeting Diane herself, and as expected, she was very pleasant and kind. She recommended that I bring my family here for the dinner menu. So, Diane, if you're reading this, it's a promise! This is my second time visiting, thanks to the introduction of my coworker, and each time never fails to meet my satisfaction. To start, I feel like it's a crime to not order the Hmong sausage so I added that order along with the chicken noodle soup, a dish that sounds good for my aching, allergic body. The Hmong sausage was cooked nicely, consisting of its famous snapping of the skin, covering its juicy meaty fillings. The sticky rice always pairs nicely with it, and the sauce packs a punch--be careful to over drizzle your dish with it. The noodle appears to be handmade, resulting in a nice chewy texture. The toppings and the chicken were deliciously paired together. However, the main star is the broth--very rich, savory, and hearty. Highly recommend you get this dish, especially on a colder and/or sick day. The interior is beautifully decorated, clean and cozy atmosphere. I noticed a cafe right off to the side where you may be able to drop in quickly and go; will need to try that next time. read more

Had such a nice brunch at Diane's Place! We tried the Hmong Sausage with Sticky Rice and Thai Tea Croissant French Toast, plus the Mango, Passionfruit & Lychee Croissant and Crab Rangoon Croissant. We also got a Cold Brew and Hazelnut Latte. The service was great! Our waitress was so friendly and told us about Diane's story, her favorite dishes, and what was new on the menu. We loved the outdoor seating and were also able to get a last-minute reservation, which was a huge plus! Such a cute spot with unique food and great service. Definitely would come back! read more

This place was so good that we came back the next day! I'm a pastry lover so I had to make sure I tried the crab rangoon danish, the coconut pandan croissant and the seasonal peach raspberry danish. Everything was top tier - these pastries could compete with any of the best pastries I've tried in my life! read more
2025 food and wine best restaurant. We had to try it. Unfortunately they are doing road construction in the neighborhood so parking can be tricky. Inside atmosphere has great vibes and great energy. There is a lot going on in a small space. Service and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Order: Thai tea. Delicious. Just like you would want and expect. Macha latte cold. Great flavor. Nice balance of flavor. Not too sweet. Scallion danish. Probably my favorite bite. Crispy and airy texture with good flavor. Just the smell alone had my taste buds dancing. Sesame balls. Nice crispy exterior with chewy soft inside. The star of the dish was the creamy caramel sauce... it was perfect. Thai tea French toast. Worth the hype and the calories. Perfect crisp exterior with flavorful soft chewy interior. Definitely a destination dish. Hmong sausage with added egg. Delicious flavor in the sausage. Egg was perfectly cooked with runny yolk. The dish definitely needed the homemade house sweet and sour sauce that had hints of lemongrass. Overall dish was good to try for the first time. Chicken noodle soup. Winner winner chicken dinner. Just a delicious bowl of food. Great flavors and textures and chew from the noodles. The stars of the dish were the rich broth and the crispy chicken skin. Definitely would order again. Pan fried bean thread noodles with added crispy chicken. Great balance of flavors with a nice hint of spice. Another definite order again dish. Overall: Great experience and lived up to the hype. The food was delicious but sometimes getting a table or reservation can be challenging. The Protip is to just get the pastries to go. They were all extraordinary and worth every calorie! read more
What's can be said about Diane's that hasn't been said before? Everything you've heard is true. It's amazing. A menu filled with heart and whimsy. Beautiful indoor seating and awesome large outdoor patio (no reservation needed) for warmer seasons. Amazing staff. A Minneapolis "must experience". read more

The service in Diane's place was immaculate! A special shout out to Chris, he made our experience wonderful. He was so attentive and thoughtful, paying attention to the little things and making sure we felt taken care of. He even surprised us with matcha ice cream because he noticed how much my cousin loved it. It's the little gestures like that that make an experience so memorable. We genuinely felt welcomed and we left with the biggest smiles. Thank you, Chris, for making our visit extra special! We'll definitely be back. read more
Came here for a team lunch. I was worried about liking it because it's so close to my job. Good news for my taste buds and bad for my wallet, food was excellent. The owner sat us and she was so pleasant! I got the pork and sticky rice. I also had a bite of my coworker's hmong sausage. Flavors were fresh. The hot sauce on the side was SO SPICY but delicious like drinkable which I thought was a unicorn combo. I put the entire dish of hot sauce on my bowl and it was so worth it. The hmong sausage was a real treat too. Good snap, great quality on all the meats I ate as well. They'd have to close to keep me from coming back! For those wondering if the prices are worth it, the flavors I encountered said YES! Go now! read more

Fantastic brunch! My friend and I had a Monday off work and we were lucky enough to get a reservation for brunch. We got the a few different things to share and everything was delicious! The highlight for me was the pastries, especially the coconut pandan croissant. Our server was great and explained the menu and made a couple recommendations. The place was packed for a Monday morning but we were able to get street parking with no issues! read more
Had a beautiful and very fulfilling brunch. FYI- get a reservation! We had to book out several weeks because they were all full. The main dining area is low lit and has an elegant feel. (All tables were full and once one emptied, it was quickly turned over.) We had heard rave reviews about a few items and so we ordered a few main dishes to share: Thai tea French toast, the (Hmong) sausage egg and cheese croissant sandwich, and the sweet pork bowl with sticky rice. Everything was very delicious and super filling -- thankful for the take home boxes! My favorite of the three was sweet pork bowl (I prefer savory) but the French toast was SO. GOOD. and really blew me away. I cannot recommend that enough! Took home several pastries as well, including the almond croissant (very sweet) and the green scallion danish (tastes like garlic bread!). Get a reservation and check it out! read more
We were in Minneapolis for the weekend and ended up coming here twice, that should tell you everything! We started with brunch and had an amazing experience. The space was much bigger than I expected; they use a back area as well, which isn't as posh, but the service and food were still really good. For brunch we ordered the Thai tea French toast and the Hmong sausage. The portions were generous, my husband and I left completely stuffed. Our waiter convinced us to come back for dinner the next day, and we're glad he did. Brunch was still my favorite, but dinner held its own. Definitely worth a visit for both! read more
Where do I even start? We were seated almost immediately upon arrival thanks to the advance rsvp made by my friend. Inside the restaurant is cozy and intimate. The food was so good: we ordered a variety beginning with the croissant that was beautifully decorated too pretty to eat. I thought I was about to eat just another chicken noodle soup but boy was I wrong. The presentation was delightful and one slurp of the soup. Wow. Tasty. Warm. Amazing. Service, food and ambience are all first rate. It's no surprise that Diane's place is on the Michelin team's radar. If we'd had another couple of people with us we would have ordered ALL the pastries but as it was just my brother and me we made do with the green scallion danish and the pink champagne kouign aman. Both were delicious. I continued along a decadent path with my order of Thai French toast. Made with a croissant bread it is creamy and lighter than it looks. An order of the vegetable egg rolls with peanut sauce brought a more savory balance to the table as did my brother's order of a sticky rice/sausage dish. I hope to make this part of my annual visit to Minneapolis. read more
Was really excited to come here because I have read so many good reviews and heard so many good things, but the only word that comes to mind is.. underwhelming. We came here on a Monday morning and since we had a larger party we were sat in the back area (which is totally fine, I understand this) but there was a lot of weird construction happening while we were back there, the ambiance was not great because it was loud and it just was not ideal. The front area looked lovely and very fun though, so there's that, but unfortunately, just not our experience. I will confess, the pastries were great. We ordered the vast majority of them and they all were simply delightful. However, at a place such as this, if you have amazing pastries.. I would like to think that the coffee options would be great too.. the coffee was underwhelming. I got ube matcha which initially I had ordered half sweet and it came out literally a sugar bomb.. so I ordered a second and she ensured it was half sweet. It was ok, not great. I ended up ordering the glass noodles with chicken. The chicken was good. It had a nice sear and was tasty.. nothing special. The veggies in the noodles were good but in all honesty, this dish was REALLY HARD to eat. It was a mountain of noodles served in this tiny lil bowl and it just did not make it easy at all. Also, someone at my table ordered the papaya salad and it was the same thing.. a small bowl for a large serving. Just not great. We were given one pitcher of water for a table of 7.. which ran out quickly and we did not get a fresh one until we asked. I think that coming back here in a party of 2 or 3 would be best. We went here for breakfast! The BEST breakfast I have ever had. The Hmong sausage and french toast are unbelievable. It is a must to take home the pastries as well! Our server was phenomenal and the whole ambiance itself was wonderful! Highly recommended! read more
We got the red curry duck stew and Diane's Hmong sausage and sticky rice. Both were really good. I really enjoyed and would recommend the red curry duck stew-- I loved the eggplants and bamboo throughout and the duck meat was very tender. The curry was flavorful but not too salty which I do feel like lots of Asian American/fusion dishes can become around here in Minnesota. The Hmong sausage was well seasoned and grilled and paired well with the sticky rice. The sausage reminds me of Taiwanese sausage but is heftier and more substantial. It was cool to be at the bar and see into the kitchen. Service was very quick overall and the bartenders gave some great suggestions for drinks. Tom kha lemonade - refreshing, somewhere between a tom kha soup and key lime pie almost. Was debating between this and the 3Leches botanical drinks (maybe one of these another time!) Overall would come back again but perhaps only on days when we are okay with splurging it a bit more. ;) The outside was nice but today was a bit too humid so it was nice we were able to get a seat inside. Definitely would be back when in the Cities for their cafe next door when they hopefully have more of their specialty pastries in stock (we eyed the coconut pandan croissant but they were out! Went for a birthday lunch here, and we tried a number of menu items: the coconut croissant which was amazing, the Thai French toast (just ok to me) a green salad (loved the flavor of the dressing) and the pork belly bowl (not my cup of tea). The food was really rich and I didn't eat for the rest of the day. Our server was excellent, as it took us a while to decide what we wanted. We tried 2 beverages- the Thai coconut lemonade and the Matcha. Both were great! Inside the restaurant, it is so cute and their patio was being built out, so dining al fresco would be fun! The parking situation is difficult on side streets. The restaurant was so busy, even at 11 am. read more
We had a beautiful first experience at Diane's. I understand the hype. And it is warranted! Everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend the sweet porkbelly. Wowza. Wonderful serving staff. Small, cozy space. Absolutely make a reservation or plan on to go. Street parking. Single level, smaller space but appears accessible. read more

Came here for dessert and drinks! Service was really fast, but the bar area was packed the day we went. Servers kept checking on us and the lady working at the bar was very knowledgeable and passionate about her job! Vibes are just really good and they have good selection of beer. I really enjoyed my apple cider! I forgot the name of the dessert I had but it came with good portion of ice-cream!! read more

I have been wanting to try Diane's (along with everyone else in Minnesota), and was not disappointed. If my dad went with me, he would probably say he could get the same kinds of Asian food for 1/3rd the price. While somewhat true, the differentiator is the level of care given to each dish. Diane's reminds me of Vinai, which is close by. The food is "elevated" well-- higher quality of ingredients and preparation but the essence of the dish origins are still there.
